It's a great spot, a stone's throw from the sea, and next to Hove Lagoon with all it's watersports facilities, and the play park. This ensures a huge customer base, particularly on a warm and sunny day. As well as the great location, it's actually a pretty decent place, with plenty of seating plus space for the smalls to run around, a small play area which is useful but does need updating with some newer toys, a bar area, and toilets with a baby change area. There is also a really large outdoor seating area, again perfect if you are there with the kids. The menu is pretty extensive for a cafe with breakfasts, light lunches, seasonal specials, fresh bakes and a selection of yummy looking cakes. Gluten free and vegan options are also available. The children's menu is pretty good too, with a good hot selection as well as the usual packed lunches. Ice creams are also available and there is even a fully licenced bar! This is a great place to come for a bite to eat when you are in the area. Kids and dogs are totally welcome, staff are friendly but it can get a little busy at peak times to be prepared to wait to place your order at the counter.

Sadly in the morning once I woke up i didnt have an appetite but I still went to check it out. Since I didnt have an appetite I was deciding on whether I should grab tea or something sweet instead of plain coffee so I ordered myself a mocha which was very tasty. I didnt feel like eating anything so i ordered the breakfast smoothie so I can drink that while on the way to the airport. They didnt have wifi there but it was ok since I still had alot of data and had my kindle so that I can read a bit. The place is really roomy, enough tables and seats plus great decorations on the walls. Really wanted to try the sweet potato hash though but maybe another time if I ever come back to Brighton.

It opened in the summer when many similar businesses seem to be closing at a rapid rate, but this one has staying power my friends! Its nearly always bursting at the seams but the lovely owner will do her best to accommodate everyone. It has an amazing selection of cakes, all homemade, as well as a fine selection of teas and a limited lunch menu including homemade soups, cheese and eggs on toast etc. I had a lovely ginger tea which complemented to delicious carrot cake amazingly well, and surely un-did some of the damage, right? The carrot cake was full of nuts and raisons, as well as carrot obviously, and deliciously moist, and the cream cheese topping was sweet and creamy - an amazing combination. The decor was delightful too - a mish-mash of old and new, beautiful crockery, and table decorations including an amazingly kitsch cat shaped lamp that I really wanted to steal! Many of the items seemed handmade, including the ceiling decoration made of old-fashioned kitchen utensils. Really nice details and a comfortable bygone-era tea shop feel. Yesterday we took our employee there for a late breakfast and ended up having to purchase a sandwich for one of the guys at Tesco. The bread for his burger was stale and hard. He quite courteously asked them to replace it. After the rest of the table has finished, he asked again about his burger. The lady behind the counter told him his food couldn't be made, handed him £3 and walked off. Completely unacceptable. After many visits I will not be returning.

You can sit inside, outside on the street or upstairs on the rooftop terrace. Staff are usually very friendly. This place has a gluten-free cake on offer and a good menu with choice for vegetarians for a change. The iced coffee is amazing as is the home-made veggie burger. It also has wonderful Monmouth coffee and a small but impressive selection of lip-smackingly good food. There's brunch items, daily warm and cold salads, soups, welsh rarebit and cheese and ham boards with chunks of fresh bread. I've tried and loved the latter two but the thing I'm hooked on is their homemade toasted breakfast loaf. It's packed with oats, nuts and fruit and comes with yoghurt and jam. Their selection of home-baked cakes, meringues and brownies also make Igigi an ideal place to catch up with friends over cake and coffee or afternoon tea. The only downside is it's more pricey than other local cafes and is so small, it's sometimes hard to get a table. Anyone for coffee and carrot cake?

With the…read moreamount of Yummy Mummies in Brighton and Hove, it's a wonder that places like this aren't popping up all over the place. Basically, it's a cafe with a soft play area for the smalls in the corner. Kids get to play, mum gets to drink coffee...Unless your little one is slightly too small for the the stairs and you have to keep giving him a lift up - oh well, give it another couple of months!! The soft play area is clean which is a bonus, but perhaps more toys would go down well as I could imagine it would get quite hectic if the cafe is busy, with the smaller ones not getting much of a look in. However, when we popped in on a Sunday it was really quiet and my little one had a great time. There are changing facilities and plenty of highchairs which is always useful. They do a selection of hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, pastries, and pasta pots, plus a selection of snacks. I would like to see them expand the menu to include for fresh and healthy choices to the kiddies, maybe this is something they will do in the future. Today I tried the chocolate brownie which was delicious but not suitable for my 15 month old. They also hire out the space for private parties which may come in useful in the future.
