Small Talk Pay Cafe has recently opened up in Hove and has found a real gap in the market. With the amount of Yummy Mummies in Brighton and Hove, it's a wonder that places like this aren't popping up all over the place. Basically, it's a cafe with a soft play area for the smalls in the corner. Kids get to play, mum gets to drink coffee...Unless your little one is slightly too small for the the stairs and you have to keep giving him a lift up - oh well, give it another couple of months!!
The soft play area is clean which is a bonus, but perhaps more toys would go down well as I could imagine it would get quite hectic if the cafe is busy, with the smaller ones not getting much of a look in. However, when we popped in on a Sunday it was really quiet and my little one had a great time. There are changing facilities and plenty of highchairs which is always useful.
They do a selection of hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, pastries, and pasta pots, plus a selection of snacks. I would like to see them expand the menu to include for fresh and healthy choices to the kiddies, maybe this is something they will do in the future. Today I tried the chocolate brownie which was delicious but not suitable for my 15 month old.
They also hire out the space for private parties which may come in useful in the future. read more
