Nice-sized cafe in great spot...
Unfortunately the woman who runs it is extremely rude! Her reply to a lady who dared to ask for the hot chocolates to be topped up, as they were only half full, was, "There's nothing we can do about it. It's out of the machine". The lady then asked if she would top them up with milk and this was reluctantly performed. The lady said something else like, "Can you spare it.. " and the owner woman said, "We don't force you to come here", then as the lady was walking back to her table with her little cups of topped-up chocolate, "Please don't come back". This was as other customers were standing at the counter...
I went back to the cafe a bit later to get ice cream for my children (Cheapest: £1.80 for 1 scoop in small cone. Dearest £5 for 3 scoops in large 'choc. dipped' waffle cone :o ). The same woman approached as I was looking at the choices (I'd only just got there), and asked me what I wanted, so I said, "I'm just looking thanks". Admittedly, I was a little off-hand, due to her obvious disdain for her customers, but by no means rude. A moment later, her younger male colleague approached me and also asked what I wanted. The woman said to him, "She's just looking!", then chattered to him in a foreign language (Italian?). I decided to spend my money elsewhere, so off we went. I did however tell my children how rude she was, being sure to speak loud enough so that she would hear me. She did, and said, "I was talking to him, not you!". I replied, "Not in English" to which she replied, "Whatever!"!
On the plus side, the machine did a good job with our coffee/hot chocolate. We were cold and hungry and it was most welcome :) read more
