It's a great spot, a stone's throw from the sea, and next to Hove Lagoon with all it's watersports facilities, and the play park. This ensures a huge customer base, particularly on a warm and sunny day. As well as the great location, it's actually a pretty decent place, with plenty of seating plus space for the smalls to run around, a small play area which is useful but does need updating with some newer toys, a bar area, and toilets with a baby change area. There is also a really large outdoor seating area, again perfect if you are there with the kids. The menu is pretty extensive for a cafe with breakfasts, light lunches, seasonal specials, fresh bakes and a selection of yummy looking cakes. Gluten free and vegan options are also available. The children's menu is pretty good too, with a good hot selection as well as the usual packed lunches. Ice creams are also available and there is even a fully licenced bar! This is a great place to come for a bite to eat when you are in the area. Kids and dogs are totally welcome, staff are friendly but it can get a little busy at peak times to be prepared to wait to place your order at the counter.

Sadly in the morning once I woke up i didnt have an appetite but I still went to check it out. Since I didnt have an appetite I was deciding on whether I should grab tea or something sweet instead of plain coffee so I ordered myself a mocha which was very tasty. I didnt feel like eating anything so i ordered the breakfast smoothie so I can drink that while on the way to the airport. They didnt have wifi there but it was ok since I still had alot of data and had my kindle so that I can read a bit. It also has wonderful Monmouth coffee and a small but impressive selection of lip-smackingly good food. There's brunch items, daily warm and cold salads, soups, welsh rarebit and cheese and ham boards with chunks of fresh bread. I've tried and loved the latter two but the thing I'm hooked on is their homemade toasted breakfast loaf. It's packed with oats, nuts and fruit and comes with yoghurt and jam. Their selection of home-baked cakes, meringues and brownies also make Igigi an ideal place to catch up with friends over cake and coffee or afternoon tea. Basically, it's a cafe with a soft play area for the smalls in the corner. Kids get to play, mum gets to drink coffee...Unless your little one is slightly too small for the the stairs and you have to keep giving him a lift up - oh well, give it another couple of months!! The soft play area is clean which is a bonus, but perhaps more toys would go down well as I could imagine it would get quite hectic if the cafe is busy, with the smaller ones not getting much of a look in. However, when we popped in on a Sunday it was really quiet and my little one had a great time. There are changing facilities and plenty of highchairs which is always useful. They do a selection of hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, pastries, and pasta pots, plus a selection of snacks. I would like to see them expand the menu to include for fresh and healthy choices to the kiddies, maybe this is something they will do in the future. Today I tried the chocolate brownie which was delicious but not suitable for my 15 month old. They also hire out the space for private parties which may come in useful in the future.

We were asked if we wanted them warmed up, and instead of stuffing them in the microwave for 30 seconds like so many other places do, they actually properly reheated them in the oven, retaining the correct flavour and texture - it's the little touches that make the difference. My lemmongrass tea was delicious and my OH approved of his Americano. Our server was sweet and friendly. We sat outside on the few tables overlooking the street and soaked up some sunshine. One of the places I've always wanted to try is the V&H Café in Hove. Which I actually live somewhat close to. And yet, it took me 6 months of living here to go. Anyway, the point is, I went. And about 50% off their offerings are gluten free. Hooray! We decided to actually go for a bit of brunch after the Pride parade before Katy needed to go to work. We popped in and the place had a few people inside but was fairly quiet. I'm not sure if this was normal for a Saturday morning, or if it was just a bit quiet because everyone was at the parade. The decor is nothing exciting, but it is comfortable and relaxed. They had plenty of gluten free cakes on display and all of the breakfasts and toasties can be made gluten free. I was feeling a brunch vibe, so I went for a bacon breakfast sandwich. It was very yummy! Perfect to gobble down, as my parade sunburn fully developed. Katy had a savoury tart which wasn't gluten free so I forgot to take a photo of it. Whoops. Bad food blogger! We also took home a slice of the toffee apple cake, which is both gluten free and vegan. I liked it quite a lot, as I am into fruity cakes. Katy doesn't like cake in general (what a weirdo), so she wasn't a big fan. Overall, my impression was pretty average. For good comfort food, and high gluten free availability, this is an excellent choice. But if you're looking for a cute spot to catch up with your friends and take lovely Instagram pics, there are plenty of prettier options in Brighton and Hove.
