I wish I could give zero stars. This company doesn't even deserve one. The technician who came out was strange and unprofessional from the start. I requested a diagnostic for a non-working outlet. He looked at it for about five seconds, tapped on his iPad, and handed me an estimate--for $630. He didn't check the breaker box, inspect the wiring, or go into the basement--nothing that even remotely resembled a proper diagnostic. When I expressed that the quote was outrageous and said I'd pay the $69 service fee for the visit, he replied, "I'll just mark it as a no-show so you don't get charged." That immediately raised red flags. I called the company afterward to explain what happened and reported that the technician did not perform a diagnostic at all--just gave an inflated estimate. I again offered to pay the service fee, even though the visit was a complete waste of time. They responded with indifference and told me "OK." Then, hours later, I receive a bill via email--despite the technician explicitly stating I wouldn't be charged and refusing to take my payment at the time of service. This was an incredibly shady experience. I would strongly caution anyone from using this company. read more

The project was ultimately completed successfully, but they were very wasteful of my time due to poor communication and planning. On the plus side, they reached out quickly for the initial consultation. They were quick to schedule an installation, which I was told should be completed within a day. When the technicians arrived, they weren't fully briefed on the scope of work. Because of this, they came without the materials they needed to complete the work - receptacle, interlock kit, conduit, etc... They spent an hour that day trying to find these parts locally. They had to schedule another visit. On the 2nd visit, nothing had changed. Still no receptacle, still no interlock kit. Different lead technician this time, who needed another briefing on the scope of work. No progress was made and they scheduled another visit for a 3rd day. The work was ultimately completed, but I had to stay home to babysit 3 days instead of 1. They were unwilling to comp me for my wasted time. read more

Do not waste your time with this company. I called WireOne to install an outlet above my electric fireplace for a new TV to go in my house in Iowa City, IA. I figured the call-out fee they charge would be worth it because what's the worst that could happen when all I need is one outlet? Two electricians showed up, walked around my house for an hour only to let me know that they can't connect a new outlet to the existing electricity in the fireplace because the TV will pull too much power (What? TV's pull very little electricity) and that my house needs to be entirely re-wired. They then went out to their truck for 40 minutes to work up the estimates. This is what they came back with: $28,429.54 to rewire my 700 square foot home (about as much as the down payment for the entire house!!) $3,658.28 for an outlet to be installed. After all of this I realize the next day that they had unscrewed the entire cover off of my electrical box in the garage and left it sitting on the floor. Why they needed to unscrew the entire cover of it makes no sense when there is a door that opens! And then they didn't even put it back. This company is outrageously price gauging and manipulative. Do not waste your time. Find a local electrician. I totally regret calling these cowboys. read more

Strongly discourage anyone from using this company. Our fridge went out last weekend. We quickly realized it was an electrical issue since the fridge worked when plugged into a different outlet on a different circuit. The circuit breaker wouldn't reset so we called WIREONE and set up an appointment for Monday. The electrician couldn't say for sure what the issue was and gave me 2 options: 1. Assume the breaker is bad and replace it (~$500). 2. Do a "full diagnostic" to determine the issue (~$1,000). We chose to replace the breaker (though $500 seemed really steep, which should have given me pause). The fridge worked for 1 hour, then went off again and the breaker wouldn't reset. When I called, the electrician said that a full $1000 diagnostic would be needed. I asked if the wiring in the outlet had looked like it should and he said taking off the cover and looking at the wiring was part of the "full diagnostic." This seemed absurd to me and I called a local electrician instead. He came the next day, looked at the wiring to determine if that was the issue (it wasn't), re-replaced the breaker (which was manufactured 4 years ago) and the fridge has been running for almost a week now with no issue. Oh, the second electrician charged us $250 for his "diagnostic" and replacing the breaker. So kudos to you, WIREONE, you swindled me out of $544 and lost a customer for life. Misleading pricing and work practices. The WireOne technician was at my house for about an hour, charged me $600, didn't fix the problem, and didn't even give me a receipt. I felt like I donated money to them for no reason. I called them because I had a breaker faulting. It cost $69 just to get an appointment and another $499.26 just to diagnosis the problem. I asked if I paid that amount of money would it fix the issue and I wouldn't have to pay anymore. The technician said yes that would do it, so I agreed to pay the $500. Later the technician came and told me I would have to pay $850 to actually fix the problem. At that point, I felt like I hand been scammed so I called my builders electrician and he fixed the arc vault for $150. read more

On Monday, March 13th, 2023, one of the WireOne's representatives visited my house because of the call I had made to inquire about fixing two recessed ceiling light fixtures in my kitchen. After checking and inspecting the electric panel in the basement (could be for safety reason, I don't know, I am not an electrician) he offered me installing a full house surge protector for around $1600.00 After inspecting (well, just looking at) the recessed ceiling light fixtures that needed attention, he gave me an estimate of $1078.00 (!) I was not happy, so he called his 'manager' and they gave me a 'price break' and wanted to charge me $873.00 ($935.15 with tax) since I had all needed parts already and I was a 'new customer'. But that new price was only good if I agree to give them the job right then. If I decide later, the original price of over a thousand bucks stays. Even if I would decide to do this job by WireOne, this guy was NOT going to do it that day (due to some injury to his hand) and they will send someone else some other day. The guy charged me the 'service call' of $69 + tax and left. So, I did what anybody would do - I had reached for a second opinion. I contacted another, local electric service place. Licensed and insured, of course. The guy on the phone knew exactly what the problem was with my light fixtures halfway thru my explanation. The same explanation I gave to WireOne. The new guy stopped by before 9:00am on Friday, with the ladder, ready to work. In 15 minutes fixed what needed to be fixed - didn't even turn off the breaker! Didn't need any of the replacement parts I had ready. Just took the part of the fixture out, tied a screw on top, and put it back. Done. Charged me regular 'service call', which I was happy to pay! I did ask for an estimate for some additional work. Full house surge protector: about $300.00 (not the WireOne's price of $1600.00!) I will stick with the new guy since we want some more electric work done in the house. I did contact WireOne and let them know that I am going to place this review and gave them the opportunity to respond, so I can include their response in this post. No word from WireOne. I hope some people may be happy with WireOne but based on my experience I would say: Call some other place instead. read more

I LOVE working with Wireone. They are my go-to for anything electric and I recommend them often. The fist job I had done was running electric to our back patio in preparation for a hot tub install. We had no electric lines outside and our entire breaker was full so it turned into a bigger job then originally expected but Shane did a great job explaining everything and presenting us with options of how to go about the project. After that great experience we decided to become members. While its certainly not required, you can then pay a small monthly fee to get a discount on any projects done with them. For our most recent project we were wanting an outlet installed above our great room fireplace for mounting a TV. I called on Friday morning, not only did a real person (who was also friendly and helpful) answer the phone but then they had available appointments for the NEXT DAY. How is that even possible? Jadyn was our technician and I plan to ask for him by name for any future projects. Things started out strong by receiving a phone call to say he was on his way, then a text message with his picture so we knew who to expect. Next, I LOVE that he insisted on putting shoe covers on when he came in -- which I can only imagine is SO annoying for him as he would take them off every time he needed something from his truck and then put them back on when he came inside. The fee for the estimate was waved since we had the work done same day. Jadyn had our outlet installed quickly and even vacuumed up after himself. Lastly before he left he did a quick safety check of our entire house. He thoughtfully let us know of some items that might need replacing or repair in the next few years but I never felt like he was trying to sell me on something - basically just told me to keep an eye on it. I tried for months to get electricians to come over and install track lighting on my 12ft high ceiling but only one came over to give an estimate, then wouldn't come back to do the job. Three others kept telling me they'd come over and look at the job, but never called me back no matter how many messages I'd leave them. Wireone was unbelievably expensive but they actually showed up when they said they would, gave me the estimate, and I wanted that lighting up and saw no other way, so I said ok. He got his tools and went to work. About $500 for 3 hours total at our place--so about $165 per hour. Did a great job and it wasn't easy, there were problems to be solved, but he did exactly that. read more

I thought he was joking with the numbers he showed me. He left and I called a reputable electrician from the area who has been in business for over 30 years. They work as electricians should on small jobs, by the hour. They did it for 1/5 the price of wireone. Then afterwards I was harassed for a 41 dollar estimate fee and 3 weeks later a letter telling they would take legal action if it wasn't resolved. I understood the fee would be added if I accepted the estimate and they did the work, not by showing up at my door at 7:20 and putting ridiculous numbers in front of me which would be high even in California. If I could give WireOne a lower rating, I would. They were not upfront with their charges and they did not fix the problem. I agreed to pay the $69 trip charge, but then when they arrived they said there would be an additional $400 Diagnostic charge - not for any work - just to diagnose the problem. (The problem was, one of my circuits kept breaking.) Had I been told there would be this diagnostic charge, I would have gone with another company. Once at your house they say it will cost at a minimum of $400 just to diagnose the problem. This company is so shady. I should have never called them. for the stringent cost they charge you would think they could've clearly marked the vreaker box visibly not to mention procure a permit before starting a job or eat the cost of it since they did not; instead of inflating the the charge to approximately 5xs the actual cost which was $110.00 if purchased prior to doing the work & since they didn't let's charge the customer $500.00+ for the late permit, because well I am sure they are highly aware of their error in not obtaining it prior to starting the job! surprised the hardwired smoke detectors were not made of gold or platinum considering the overall cost was beyond inflated for all of the detectors (each ran approximately $500.00 after tax.)an installation of a ceiling fan switching an outlet to a Ground Fault Circuit Interupter (nope that wasn't made of gold or platinum either go figure SMH). The secretary at the inspectors office quoted an average price of $1,500.00 fo the size of the rental they did the work on and believe one thing it was about 5xs that for which they charged. I just do not understand how or why they would cgarge such over inflated prices. Would never recommend their shady company to not one person! Inexperienced in new technology, but friendly and responsive. Took three separate trips and $2,926.35 in service fees to replace three standard thermostats with nest e thermostats, which I had already bought separately. Right from the start in the request for quote and on the pre-appointment call, and at the initial walk-through, I explained I needed a 4th wire ran to make them work, but instead of doing that, different furnace parts were installed that still didn't result in the system working properly. Two more trips later, guess what, a 4th wire was installed and now they all work. If I new it would cost that much, I would have gone elsewhere, but I was looking for a convenient solution online. To top it off, a week after the work was completed I get a call from their accounts receivable department because they forgot to run the second invoice on my card, which they had authorization to do and have since ran. Like I said, friendly and professional in scheduling and actual work, but way over-priced and the lack of knowledge cost me significantly. Then to be told my invoice has made it to collections department is just an embarrassment. Would not recommend doing business with this company unless it is remedial work that you could probably get done on your own. read more

We had MidAmerican out for an issue with our electricity. Wireone came out and said it would be $750 to diagnosis and at least $2000-$5000 to fix. We had MidAmerican come back and all that needed to be done was pull some cable down and get a better connection. MidAmerican did this for FREE! Mike arrived @ 11:15AM (within the 3 hour time frame I was given=all good so far). Spent a short time with 2 options for my kitchen lighting. I opted for replacement LED fluorescent fixtures. Simply put, also had a light switch connected to a plug not working; But, this is called "a device" in WireOne speak. Wanted to have a replacement over the stove microwave installed. The replacement installation cost was off the charts. When I questioned the $365, I was told that installation was complicated & time consuming. I decided not to have that done. Mike left my condo supposedly "to get his equipt. from the truck". With condominium door security breached so he could carry stuff in, I waited. After 20 minutes I looked out the window= Mike & truck were gone. Waited another 20 minutes then called the company, was put on hold while she checked with the dispatcher & consequently I was disconnected. Called back & was told Mike was getting supplies @ Lowes and taking his lunch break. He was gone 2 hours; Lowes is located about 4 miles from my condo; don't know where he went to lunch. It is now after 2 PM - no work accomplished yet. While installing the kitchen lighting, I was informed there was a 15% markup on all items unless I picked them up myself. O.K. wasn't given that option to begin with & could have certainly done so in less than 2 hours. Then on to "the device" (light switch & plug in) less than $5 worth of parts & 20 minutes equated into a $235. charge. Clean up was gross debris removed & a swipe on the counter with my kitchen towel. (If I had known he wasn't going to cover the counter, I could have done so while he was gone or at least removed the coffee pot, toaster, etc".. As it was, everything on the counter, the counter and the floor had to be cleaned after Mike left. I'm still finding little pieces of plastic stripped from wires. The final straw was after I wrote the $1398.69 check, I was asked to sign his phone (why, I asked). Was told that was to say I had given him my check when in actuality it was an "acceptance of work performed & premise left in satisfactory condition" statement. His departure was approximately 4:30PM. Notre to WireOne: (1) I checked the Lowes pricing on the kitchen LED lights which were installed, also the light switch & plugin insert. 15% markup? ha ha. (2) Had the OTS microwave installed by an honest repair service-$149.00 for 45 minutes work & they removed my old unit. Will I ever call WireOne again? Would I ever recommend WireOne to anyone? Check the Better Business Bureau and other reviews - mine is not an isolated incident. I spent thousands with WireOne on multiple installations. In addition to the work performed I was charged for work that was not performed, nor did I ask for it (so basically, fraud). In addition, I was charged a 'premium' for a supposedly complex ceiling fan which was improperly installed and after two nights of clanging I fixed myself (when you charge a premium you might want to be sure you are actually doing the work properly). Customer service was rude and I was given the runaround and unable to get a refund for the work. An insulting pittance of a discount was offered to compensate for the shoddy installation, presumably to prevent me from writing this. I have never been so disgusted with a vendor, and I've seen a lot. Finally, technicians refused to wear masks in my home despite my entire family being here. read more

If I could give them no stars I would!! When I booked the appointment, the scheduler failed to advise that they charge a $69 service fee just to walk in the door! Had I known about this fee, I never would have booked the appointment in the first place. The tech provided an estimate (over $500 for the 3 outlets) that was completely out of line with what I was expecting to spend to have 2 outlets swapped out and 1 outlet replaced. He advised his company that the wiring in my house was old and in need of repair and that an outlet in the dining room was hanging out of the wall. This is simply not the case! The only issue with the outlet in question is that while it was screwed into the electrical box, it was not flush with the wall making it impossible for a cover plate to be installed. He did adjust the wiring so that the outlet would be flush with the wall for no charge. I thanked him for stopping by and he left. It was only after he left, that I discovered that a total of 3 outlets in the dining room and my range hood in the kitchen were no longer working. I called the WireOne office and was advised that they could send the tech back out but that I would have to pay another service fee and that the tech couldn't possibly have caused the problem because all he did was repair one outlet for free and that the wiring in my house was old and in need of repair. They did wind up refunding the $69 service fee they charged but only after much push back on my part. I had another electrician come in after WireOne and he advised that when the WireOne tech adjusted the outlet in the dining room, it caused the GFCI outlet in the kitchen (the one that needed to be replaced because it had been sparking at me) to trip. This happened because the outlet he adjusted, the GFCI outlet in the kitchen, 2 other outlets in the dining room and my range hood in the kitchen all share a circuit for the negative flow of electricity. When the GFCI outlet tripped, it also tripped everything else that was on the same negative flow circuit. Apparently this sharing of negative circuits is pretty common in older homes such as mine so I would have thought the WireOne tech would have known this. As soon as the new electrician replaced the GFCI outlet in the kitchen, the other 3 outlets and the range hood began functioning normally again. I cannot honestly recommend WireOne to anyone for any kind of electrical work based on the way I was treated during my one and only encounter with them. read more
