(Wow, I thought I reviewed this place already! Yikes, I must make up for lost time here!)…read more When I first moved to Vancouver from Seattle, 2.5 years ago, I knew I'd need to replace my cell phone and sign up for a cellular service provider and new plan ASAP, as my T-Mobile plan from the States wasn't going to cover me and and my family here in Canada (unfortunately). I researched all the plans available. Honestly, I wasn't thrilled with any of them; compared to those in the US, here we got SO much less. and it cost SO much more. I was not happy. Compounding my issues: I essentially had zero credit history here (despite having tons of excellent history in the USA and a stellar credit rating there. I guess Canada doesn't interface with the States regarding credit background checks and, for all intents and purposes, when I moved here in 2017, it was as if I just got off the boat from a remote, primitive area. I had zero credit history here and didn't qualify for any "deals" since I was unemployed and had just enrolled as a student here. Didn't matter that I had multiple credit cards in the States for the past 25 years, was never late with a payment, and had super high credit limits there). I also had specific cell phone needs (i.e. needed a family plan, needed to have unlimited access to calling and texting the USA since one of my kids lives there, and other issues....). All in all, I had a few potentially problematic issues in getting phones and a plan for all of us in my family. After checking out the pros and cons of all the major plans, I decided on Bell. Granted, compared to American plans, none of them here was great, but at the time, Bell offered me the most bang for my buck. This Bell store on Robson was my selected store. (The one on Burrard hadn't yet opened, and the kiosk in Pacific Center seemed too small to deal with our complex set-up for me and my whole family). The personnel at this Robson store went above and beyond the call of duty for us. Our initial visit took a few hours, as the guys here patiently explained all our options and worked with me to get the best deal on phones for us all (not an easy feat, considering I had zero credit history here and was unemployed). They placed a ton of calls to their headquarters to get us the best plan and phones. We had to return the following day for the phone pick-up and set-up, so we arrived when they opened the next day and, despite it getting crowded in the store as the time passed, the staff here patiently worked with us to get all our phones configured, explaining the plan, getting us the best deals, and more. I am tech-challenged (severely!), so they spent a TON of time with me, patiently answering all my questions and showing me how my swanky newfangled phone worked. We were there for hours. And they threw in cell phone cases for us, any kind we wanted off their wall, for all of us. They were all all AMAZING. I can't say enough about the staff here, how much they helped us all and how patient they were.
