It may be brand new, but they are pushing their limitations. You are basically only allowed to bring what you can fit in your pockets. Women can only bring a clutch, which hardly holds a wallet. You are to lock your bags up in lockers they provide. I do not feel safe leaving my wallet, keys, and other personal items in a locker room OUTSIDE in the south side of Chicago. Women's pockets are not big enough to hold our personal belongings like a man. Forcing a woman to rely on a man to hold her belongings (that feels incredibly sexist and anti female). Stop acting like every person who paid to attend the arena is a criminal. It's not worth the $30+ cab ride for whatever mediocre performance or sport they are hosting. read more

And why wouldn't I share a review of the Wintrust Arena? I anticipated its arrival after seeing it being built years back as I made my way to McCormick Place for the Chicago Marathon expo. It is the home of DePaul University's men and women's basketball team, and little did I know that it would be the location of my college graduation! Yes! Class of 2019, City Colleges of Chicago - Harold Washington College -"Go Phoenix!". Like my visits to the McCormick Place, arriving to the Wintrust Arena I caught the CTA Train and got off at CTA McCormick which is not too far from the Wintrust Arena. Prior to visiting for my graduation, I had no idea what to expect after reading a review pertaining to a graduation, so needless to say I expected the worse as I always do, however, my overall experience was nowhere near what I expected based off of that review. The Wintrust Arena is very beautiful inside and large! Easy to get lost in the crowd attending something like a graduation when you have so many people inside before and after going every which way. Describing its interior I compare it to McCormick Place, but in the form of an arena. During the graduation ceremony, everyone seemed to have this glow to them and smiles were much brighter. There were many of times I held my tears just seeing the happiness from others and hearing the excitement from their family members from a distance in the stands which came across as being hilarious as well. Yes, the Wintrust Arena will forever be my memory of that when I am in the area along with 'Pomp Circumstance' playing upon completion of the ceremony. So I have mixed feelings on this place. Went to the arena for my very first Chicago Sky game. The experience started off rocky when I realized I was not allowed in with a handbag. I know some stadiums have rules like that but it's usually public knowledge. By the looks of the bag check I was clearly not the only one that missed that memo. When we got in we were delighted to see that every seat is a good seat. It's really organized well and my seat was comfortable. Concession lines were pretty short but the beer selection was seriously lacking. If you're not a domestic beer fan you're out of luck. So all in all I would say it was okay. Not stellar but not terrible. Just don't bring a bag! read more

I was here for the millennium tour concert. I had a good time here. The overall concert was great but I did have a few issues with the arena. 1st they should have had more stations that people can get missed drinks. I had to stand in line over 45 mins then when I get to the front of the line the lady indicated that at that moment she could only except cash. 2nd the drinks were over priced. I had a mixed drink and 2 Hennessey's it was $55.00 dollars for 3 drinks total. 3rd the bathroom was not clean. Nothing else to add to that. The inside parking was also a nice convenience. read more

Looks like they ran out of money on 21st side. Just ugly tin look and rivets. My main problem is the sight lines in 200 level. I moved down from row C to A and this glass with metal trim will screw up your view. Why the metal trim and why so high? The United Center doesn't have that. read more

I'll start with a confession: When I heard that a DePaul basketball stadium was coming to my street, I was no fan. A South Loop resident for 16 years, having watched the neighborhood go from about two high-rises to what must now be nearing a couple dozen, including a few 80-plus story behemoths under construction, the thought of another 10,000+ people descending on the neighborhood for basketball and concerts made me wince. It would be like an obese American in Paris--every artery becoming clogged at every chance he got. But when I heard that DePaul was giving pre-opening tours of the building, I decided to give it a chance. The stadium is gorgeous, both inside and out. What I had expected to be the size of the United Center seems surprisingly compact (though it still takes up a city block), and the insides look like it will feel intimate for a large stadium. I rarely enjoy seeing concerts at the United Center or Rosemont, but I might just enjoy seeing one hear. And it also seems like a great place to see either the men's or women's DePaul teams or the Chicago Sky women's professional--even the upper seats might not be quite high enough to be "nosebleed" seats. But the thing that really made me change my mind about having the stadium as a neighbor (before actually seeing the congestion) is that DePaul seems to be making a sincere commitment to local schoolchildren (e.g., giving away tickets for reading books), bringing kids to their campus to start them thinking about college early, ensuring that about 1/3 of their incoming class is reserved for those first in their families to go to college, contributing to other volunteer causes, as well as their plans to celebrate local musicians and celebrities, to hopefully tell some of the more positive stories of Chicago at a time when our city's crime problems lead in the news. In my mind, it's only education that can turn around the deep-rooted, complex problems of our great city. If they continue on this path, this is truly a neighbor I'm proud to have next door. read more

Went here for the Bring Me The Horizon concert last Friday and it was awesome! The venue is simple but gets the job done! They didn't have signs out to know what door was GA and the other reserved seating so when they finally told us it was like mass migrations to the correct line but not the end of the world. The food is cheap and what you expect from concession food. Hotdogs, popcorn, pretzels, pizza slices, chicken tenders! They also have Dippin Dots!! I will let you know the beer concessions that sit by themselves are deceiving! Prices are higher then those marked on the board and posters! They told me they can raise the price at anytime during an event!!! Other then that great seats comfy and decent leg room for a 6'1" male ate 250 but still not the most room you feel like you're sitting in the person next to you shoulders touching and the arm rests are small too! Easy to get out of without shoving and bumping into others either!! read more

The stadium​ is very nice and every time I have gone (my husband​ is a season ticket holder) the staff has been very friendly. The big but- There is usually a very long line for concessions and it seems like there aren't enough staff members to work in concessions. Though, the food isn't overly expensive (especially when compared​ to other arenas in Chicago). It also seems that there aren't enough bathrooms. Same long lines as the concession. The audio seems to be good and quite frankly is better than the UC (which is where most big-name​ acts come during the cold months). It's quite new but I hope that management and DePaul get it together before this costs them the last of their fans. read more

The traffic on the street but to get into the parking garage took 45 minute to get into the garage and then waited another thirty minutes to move a few feet, turned around , parked several blocks away and Uber ed over. Left house at 530 for a 730 concert and did not get into venue until 830 because of their poor traffic and parking management. Missed el debarge !!!!! Also, staff was not helpful and barely checked our tickets. The seats and view were good but beware, seats are hard and tight kinda like the parking and traffic. Not my fave venue. read more

So I decided to get tickets to the Sweetest Day Comedy show because last year the show was amazing but I didn't like how far away from the stage we were at the Arie Crown. We get in the vicinity of the venue and the traffic was horrific. They had traffic guards out but they were NOT giving good direction to keep the flow of traffic going. We finally got in the parking garage and struggled to find the door to enter the sky bridge. Show started at 8pm and we didn't get seated until about 8:45.Finally found are seats in the darkness, some help from an assistant who seemed confused on how to explain were the seats were. Unfortunately my seat was by a larger man and the seats were not accommodating his size so he was half way on my seat. Only Bill Bellamy and Tony Roberts were laugh out loud funny. Mark Curry was okay. Lunell, Nephew Tommy and Tommy Davidson were not funny to me. Tony Roberts was the headliner and by the time he hit the stage the unfunny comedians had eaten up his time. I was soooo ready to go and will NEVER return to Wintrust, even if Jesus was having a concert there I would not be in attendance!!! read more

This is a new, organized venue, and it shows. This was my first trip to Chicago and the arena didn't disappoint. The arena staff was very accommodating for a special event we had. The amenities and food options were great as well. This is also the new arena for DePaul basketball games and I can definitely see why. Highly recommend attending an event here. read more

My worst arena experience ever and I'm 68 and have even to 50 plus events all over the country. There specific policy verses most other arena I've attended. First of all, there bag check policy was not mentioned in any of the ticket info or confirmations we received. My wife purse is 6"Wx8"Hx12"L. Very small in size by most standards. We came in via a skywalk from our hotel and we one of two couples checking in with 4 total check in lanes. That's where their bag policy was first posted. I asked since no one was waiting if they couldn't take 30 seconds to check the very few items in her purse and they refused. Sooo we had to go downstairs, outside, around the building to a bag check in area. Keep in mind, my wife has had double knee replacement and long walks and stairs are not really in he's wheelhouse at the moment. I took her purse to be checked but that meant we were then separated and she had to find her way to our seats alone. We were attending a Street League competition which was very well run. Almost two hours before the end of the competition I went to get us a small bite to eat. The concessions were already shutting down and refusing to serve any one. Strike Two. At the end of the event I had to send my wife alone on her way back to our hotel while I went back downstairs, outside around to bag claim to fetch her purse. I was not allowed back in the building to get the escalator just inside the doors to up to the skywalk find my wife. No recently. Sooo I had to go down the block, enter through another building to access the skywalk. After a lot of additional walking and frustration the evening was over. I love this new stadium in the South Loop! Associated with DePaul's Blue Demons Men's and Women's basket ball teams, this new building will host sports and many music and comedy shows. Bob Dylan and the Obama Foundation Concert were a couple of fun events so far. The size is perfect - big enough to feel like a real stadium but small enough to have great seats almost anywhere. The will call window is easily accessible on Cermak. It is shiny new and easy to navigate. In a neighborhood that is a bit tired and offers very little in the way of entertainment for it neighbors or McCormick Place visitors, Wintrust Arena is just what was needed. McCormick Place Parking Lot A is the easiest option. Be careful with street parking, as many cars get towed on event days. read more

I've basically watched the entire construction of this place so from the outside it looks pretty cool. Step inside and well it's cold like. Not temperature but the aesthetics. It's just blah. Most white painted walls , nothing to make a it feel artsy, musical or very much sports related since i believe this becomes the home of DePaul basketball. Maybe it was too early, maybe it's still a work in progress. Or maybe it's just stale. I came for a concert and the size of the arena makes just about any seat a pretty decent seat. Acoustics were alright, nothing spectacular but not horrible. Didn't have anything from concessions but they seem like your normal over priced concession food. Wintrust Arena is the new home of the DePaul Blue demons. It is conveniently located near the Cermak Red/Green Line stops. There is a lot of development happening in the area with the hotels and restaurants popping up over the last year which is convenient. If you are attending a DePaul event at the arena be sure to review the bag policy as it is very similar to what you see at NFL events. They are now offering bag checks for the games which is really nice for students and staff coming from DePaul. The food was just ok. Expect to pay $4 for a bottled water and $6 -$10 for pretzels, hot dogs and nachos. They done have hamburgers. They have been running $2 beer specials during the games so if you are a beer drinker there you go! The arena seats are comfortable for small and large people which is nice. The arm rests don't get in the way too bad. I will definitely come to future events here. read more

An absolute joke of a facility. This is the only arena that could possibly be worse than the Allstate Arena Very limited concessions. I went to get a beer with 12min left in the first half and got back to my seat halfway through halftime. The game wasn't even sold out and there were ridiculous lines The restrooms were sparce and poorly equipped. Men's rooms had stalls but no urinals. Beautiful arena with a terrible layout. Be ready to go through security be arriving light handed.Ladies leave your purses at home because unless it's clear you can't bring it in. There isn't a bad seat in the house. Each seat offers a great view so have no fear on which ticket to buy. The scoreboard is amazing! Massive and beyond clear. Concession stands are a nightmare, they are in a terrible location that causes all kinds of congestion and are terribly understaffed so expect to wait in line for a long time. To make it worse, there is a men's bathroom issue (my husband said 4 urinals) which causes a massive line next to an already crowded concession lines. Combine this with the DePaul merchandise or concert merchandise stand you have have an unorganized glob of people. At least the ladies room is well equipped with several stalls....expect little to no line. Oh wait, you want to buy a drink? Oh there is only 5 people in line? That's a guaranteed 25 min wait. The people who are serving liquor have zero urgency and do not move the line along at all. Pro-tip: go to the bathroom at the Marriott before you walk threw security. read more

Tried to attend the Comedy Laugh Fest last night and missed over half of the show trying to find a park. Got to the 22nd street entrance of the parking lot only to be told to go to the 24th street entrance. Waited in traffic another 30 minutes at the 24th street entrance, they let the car in front of us in then put up the lot full sign up and walked away. No suggestions on where to park!!! Traffic Management was rude and offered no assistance when you asked a question. We finally found a park an hour later, walk to the arena and the sound was awful. So we missed over half the show trying to find a park then missed out on half of the jokes because the sound was muffled. I will never attend a concert at Wintrust Arena again. read more

Hey Wintrust Arena. Your bag check policy is ridiculous. My wife and I went to see a high school basketball game and were told at the front gate that my wives purse needed to be checked. We understand security as most events look through purses. What they actually meant was they had to HOLD her purse in a room! All of her personal belongings out of her sight being watched by $15/hr "security" officers. Yes this venue LOOKS amazing. My two stars isn't for the look, sound system, bathrooms etc. This wasnt my first visit but my first was just a open house to see the stadium. There wasnt an actual event going on so everything was amazing. Fast forward to last night the Obama Summit Concert where the staff actually had to work and well that's where the story begins. After standing in line for almost an hour in the rain, we couldn't wait to get to our seats warm up and then hit the concession stands. First of all the set up is not right for a large event. The lines spill over into the walk area for anyone passing through and yes there were lines long ones. So they didnt build even walk- through space ok how do we move on? Well you actually train your concession staff to be efficient and effective. Now Im sure they didnt just find out about the Obama Summit last night! What y'all think? The way the employees acted you would think they pulled them in right as we were standing in line. They were slow, unprofessional, and didnt even know the products that they served. My friend went first and she came back her nacho cheese was HORRIBLE it was cold.I told her I would get a cup of it when I went. As I waited in line at one location for about 20 mins I finally got to the front to then find out that the pretzels weren't hot or ready and the nacho cheese was not heated up. Wait so you knew you were having an event and the cheese is not hot and the pretzels not ready. WHY???? Its not like you cook the cheese yourself. It literally comes in a machine that you plug up which does the warming. So I then go to the upstairs one. Another LONG wait to only order my pretzel (not many vegetarian options) and the guy gives me the wrong one. (they had 3 options) I start to taste it and realize and go back. Then he gives me the wrong one again! WTH do you not know which pretzel is which sir?? Please know your product! They were cold, and they dont give clear descriptions of the actually pretzel. So they offer regular with salt, pizza and jalapeño cheese. What they dont tell you is that the pizza and jalapeño cheese are stuffed with pizza sauce and cheese. Ewwwwww imagine my surprise when I bit into those pretzels. GROSS!!! You could tell the staff wasnt prepared. They couldn't be friendly bc they were so focused on trying to navigate through the line and ppl getting restless. One girl didnt sent know how to use the register. :( Plus the prices are a bit steep. $6 for a pretzel hmm where they do that at? I guess at Wintrust huh? I didnt even get pictures of the food bc I threw it right in the garbage where it belonged. I will be back bc the Chicago Sky is one of our partners but I will not be buying anything from concessions. Please train your staff! You have to do better. People were arriving anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours into the concert. We literally had to stand and move 20+ times so people could find their seats. 5 - Arena was suppose to open at 6:30p.m.; didn't open until 6:50p.m. concert started a few minutes early which meant people were still trying to located their seat. 6 - Larger restrooms I/We have no desire to every visit Wintrust Arena again. read more

This venue was used quite often this week (10/9-10/12/2017) for Workday Rising. It held all 8500+ people. The seats were comfortable, plenty of restrooms and the space was great. There's a bridge from the new Marriott Marquis which was a great shield from the cold and wet weather. read more

POSITIVE: My wife and I REALLY enjoyed the concert MINUS Musiq Soulchild, apparently he was caught in a snow storm overseas somewhere! Virtually missed ALL of De La Soul, but Common and Erykah were EXCELLENT!!!... NEGATIVE-NEGATIVE-NEGATIVE: Upon arrival, we attempted to enter Parking Lot A off Cermak Road only to directed to the south entrance. We were literally 4 cars away when their fake ace' traffic people stopped access and made everyone go in a different entrance; wayyyy out of the way! So we sat in the car for an additional 20 minutes just to park. They had 2 people taking parking payments, but credit card payments ONLY!.... WTH! Traffic people directed virtually everyone up to the 5th level. Parking was available, so we park. Looking around there is ZERO signage for the arena!!!!... Trying to remember what is an proximity to the arena people are left to wonder around the damn parking garage!!!!... We walk in the direction for the hotel next McCormick place and can't get out! All of exits are closed... WTH! We walk back to the garage and past a young lady who ask if we were attending the concert. She tells us the arena is NOT allowing purses larger than a wallet into the concert!!!!... WTF!!!... Now we have to take the elevator back up the 5th floor and my wife to empty her purse. Walking back to the elevator, now there is a foldable floor sign stating, "For Wintrust Arena exit the 3rd floor". OKAY..... THEN WHAT!?... There were NO FURTHUR INSTRUCTIONS!!! WTF!!... We actually take the stair down to 3, it is now around 8:15pm. the concert started at 7:30pm. We made it to the site at 7:10pm. I was already pissed, as I have NEVER been late to an event/concert before!.. We end up following other people to the damn bridge that crosses over Cermak and into the arena! We get to the entrance of the bridge and there is a board with security persons telling women they can't enter with a certain sized purse. Of course they are ALL PISSED!!!!...... We enter the bridge there is a freakin long ace' line!!!... WTF!... We try waiting in line, there is a security person telling people to enjoy the show and providing instructions on ticket types. We overhear her tell someone that Musiq is not performing and people are asking for their money back!... I just start laughing!!... Wait hell else can you do!?... At this point I'm willing to take a loss, but I didn't. We wait in this line for another 20 minutes. At the double doors there are several 8-1/2" x 11 prints papers saying Musiq is stuck overseas due to weather!. WTF Really!?.. That's the only signage you provide???!!... We enter and realize these MUTHAF@@!4 have freakin metal detectors!!!.. This is why there is a freakin slow moving line on the damn bridge!!... WTF...REALLY??!!... The damn Aire Crown and Chicago Theatre don't even have damn metal detectors LET ALONE requirements on purse sizes!!!!... I am SOOO DONE at this point!!!!... We pass the pat down and into the venue ONLY to not know where the hell our section is. There is NO one directing people to their levels/sections, etc,. We stop a guy from Andy Frain and he tells us we have to go the escalator to the level below. We get down there again, no signage. We follow people and find a red jacket, he doesn't even know where the section is!!!!... He asked a young lady whom in fact walks us to our seats!!!... We sit and now De La is saying goodnight!.. We f@#! Missed the first show!... A dude next to us says, "Man y'all missed it, they snapped, I've only been here for 20 minutes myself"..... At this point I'm just here from Com and Erykah. Like I said above they both CLOWNED!!.. Dope show!... Upon leaving, I turned to my wife as said, "Now let's get the f#@! Out here". Instead of going back the same direction in which we came, we opted to go outside and cross the street to the parking garage. After getting the car, she wanted to wait it out, I said, "Oh hell no, we are getting the hell out of this custerf@#!" After having the meander through the endless maze of cars we find our way to the ramp only to find dude directing traffic on the 4th level ONLY!!!!... All other level, the crowd were left to fend for themselves. Needless to say, this was my first and LAST time in this clusterf@#! of a place. Outside of the actual performances everything else was A MASTERPIECE of Shear CHAOS!!!!!!!!... Unbelievable. Management to cutting their noses off to spite their faces. This place is very unorganized when it comes to graduations. Couldn't bring a purse, water or anything. They wasn't selling any water either. The grads had to go in the same door as everyone else. It was ridiculous. Coming out, the staff was pushing everyone out of the building, so we couldn't take pics upstairs by the college signs with our graduate. Never again will go here. Horrendous experience. Understaffed, underprepared and insert any adjective assisting in describing the exact opposite of efficient. It appeared they were overwhelmed and surprised of the large crowd today. 45 min to get in the arena, another 45 minutes to purchase concessions. DePaul v. Notre Dame 11/11/17. For all the hype, DePaul's new home was less than I expected. The playing arena itself was great and the scoreboard was awesome. Too bad they did not put enough effort into basic fan amenities like adequate concessions and bathrooms. The concourse is extremely narrow with little room for fans to maneuver. The main problem is that the west side concourse on both levels is blocked off by private sections. Fans cannot walk around the entire arena. I have never been to an arena that you cannot walk completely around (this seems like a fire code violation). Also, the west side of the arena has no bathrooms or concessions making everyone walk to the east side jamming 10,000 people into a very tight area. When I finally got into a men's bathroom there were four urinals. Doing the math that meant 4 men's bathrooms for a total of 16 urinals for a stadium that size is very inadequate. I can't believe how the City Building Department approved that small of a number. Concession stands were also very limited both in number and staffing. I went to the concessions at the 11:50 min mark in the 2nd half and got back with less than 7 mins left in the game. The game wasn't even sold out. The private areas need to be removed and full concessions and bathrooms installed. read more
