On 2 August 2025 around 19:00-19:30 at Europcar Florence, I experienced one of the most disgraceful…read moreand humiliating customer service incidents of my life. After a flight delay of over four hours, I arrived with my 2.5-year-old child and family, only to have my confirmed reservation illegally cancelled. The excuse? My driver's license -- which is undeniably valid in Italy under the bilateral Italy-Turkey agreement (in force until 2028) and further backed by an official diplomatic note from the international organization where I serve, confirming its validity across the EU. The desk agent refused to even look at my documents, openly ignored the legal evidence I presented, and instead treated me with hostility. When I asked for the agent's name -- something every professional should provide without hesitation -- the agent, visibly fearful, refused to disclose it and went so far as to threaten me with calling the police. If they were acting lawfully, why hide their identity? This behavior was not just a violation of law and international agreements -- it was an act of sheer arrogance, disrespect, and abuse of authority. Europcar, do you intentionally employ staff who are untrained, disrespectful, and utterly ignorant of international regulations? Or do you tolerate this kind of misconduct without consequence? To add insult to injury, I was able to rent a vehicle immediately from another company with the exact same license, without a single issue. That proves beyond any doubt that Europcar Florence acted unlawfully and shamefully. I demand to know: on what legal basis does Europcar believe it has the right to ignore international agreements and diplomatic notes, abandon families at the airport, and humiliate paying customers? My trust and loyalty to Europcar, built over years of rentals (especially in France), has been shattered. This is not customer service. This is abuse. And unless Europcar takes visible, serious disciplinary action against this type of conduct, it is clear that the company itself condones and encourages such disgraceful treatment.

In asking what this was given it never showed up during my online reservation process or in any communications from Europcar, I was rudely told I should know.. NEXT! We came to Italy from US. B-Rent (near Milan airport)…read morerequired an International Driving Permit (IDP). Regular US Driver License is not good enough for them but is OK for other car rental companies. Nowhere on their website this requirement is stated. As a result, we were unable to rent a car from B-Rent as we did not possess an IDP. Our reservation was made through Discovercars.com, who retained the payment of $506.24. In response to this situation, we initiated a dispute with Chase Credit Card services in order to seek resolution. In contrast to B-Rent, neighboring car rental companies were willing to provide a car without requiring an International Driving Permit (IDP), albeit at a significantly higher cost of $1700. This striking price difference between the two companies raises suspicions of a potential scam. It appears that one company entices customers with seemingly low prices but then finds reasons to deny the rental, while their competitor takes advantage of the situation by offering a vehicle at an exorbitant price that exceeds the initial quote by over 300%.
DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY! These people commit fraud as a standard business practice!…read more We rented a car through rentalcars.com and were assigned a car with this horrible company, B-Rent. When we arrived, they tried to tell us that our original car was given away and that we now had to pay for additional insurance and an upgraded car for $200 more. We protested, but they kept insisting until we threatened to report them to rentalcars.com. Upon returning the rental car, the agent in the parking lot found a tiny mark (less than 1mm in diameter) and insisted the car was damaged during our rental period. We didn't have any rock hit the windscreen, and this car had so many flaws/marks that there is no way we could have noticed this little mark before renting. They claimed that since it wasn't shown in the original rental contract that it was our fault. These people are crooks and scum. Rent from someone else. If you're unfortunate enough to rent from them, take a DETAILED VIDEO of the entire car with your phone and put down every little tiny mark, no matter how small, in the contract before taking the keys.
