B-Rent, car rental company is committing FRAUD on a regular basis. This is not the first time my family has rented from this company, my husband has rented several times from them and every time he rents their is a charge for damage we did not do. They are the only rental car company we have ever had charge us for damage and we rent on a monthly basis going within the city limits of Florence. I only needed the car for a couple of days and against my husbands warning I rented the car because it was a good deal,I didn't think it would be drama for 2 days of driving.
Upon renting the car I received the paperwork stating the car had 2 areas where prior damage had been documented. Once I received the car there were damages all over. I spent almost an hour doing the paperwork for the car and more than 30 min, in the blazing sun, to actually get the car and leave the lot. I did not have to refuel the car before I returned it, that's how little I drove the car. Not to mention I parked the car on a private lot, where no on else parks!!
When I returned the car, Giacomo, the same gentleman who did the Intial walk around with me pointed out a "ding and scratch" on the car, I have no clue where the damage came from. May I note that this is the same gentleman that did the initial walk around with me and as thorough as he was checking the car when it returned, he was not thorough with the initial check through and he would not note any damage he saw unless I pointed it out. Thankfully I had taken out the scratch insurance and so the damage he said I did was covered, but I wanted to make sure that all of the damage that had been noted the day I left the lot and the new 2 scratchs that were now on the car was on file.
I went inside their office to speak to an agent to make sure that all of the damage was put on file so that no one would be charged for prior damage, just because they didn't see it. In the past we rented from this company at night and we missed scratches that were not noted, because of this we had to pay a hefty fee because we hadn't taken out the insurance, the fee was more than the 1 day we rented the car.
I asked the female agent, Claudia, why the damage was not on the paperwork, she then told me that when someone rents a car with the insurance, they don't note the damage. Only uninsured damage is put on file. Another person checking in then chimed in and said " so if a person does not have the insurance and does not see any of the previous damage they will be charged for it?" Claudia then replied "yes"
This is unacceptable. This is deceptions at its finest.
Giacomo and I walked around the car so much, marking scratches. I figured I had marked them all but I obviously missed a couple.
This company is fining people for damage previously on the car that the company refuses to document. Both employees informed me of this and had it not been for the insurance I took out, I would be paying almost 400 euro for damages I did not cause.
Every spot I had to point out, even if the employee saw them he would say nothing and for some areas the employee told me that it was not necessary to document but I insisted he did. Fast forward 48hrs, when I'm returning the car, damage smaller than what we previously noticed, was pointed out as something I did and would've been charged for.
This company is scamming its customers.
