We came to Italy from US. B-Rent (near Milan airport) required an International Driving Permit (IDP). Regular US Driver License is not good enough for them but is OK for other car rental companies. Nowhere on their website this requirement is stated. As a result, we were unable to rent a car from B-Rent as we did not possess an IDP. Our reservation was made through Discovercars.com, who retained the payment of $506.24. In response to this situation, we initiated a dispute with Chase Credit Card services in order to seek resolution. In contrast to B-Rent, neighboring car rental companies were willing to provide a car without requiring an International Driving Permit (IDP), albeit at a significantly higher cost of $1700. This striking price difference between the two companies raises suspicions of a potential scam. It appears that one company entices customers with seemingly low prices but then finds reasons to deny the rental, while their competitor takes advantage of the situation by offering a vehicle at an exorbitant price that exceeds the initial quote by over 300%. read more

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY! These people commit fraud as a standard business practice! We rented a car through rentalcars.com and were assigned a car with this horrible company, B-Rent. When we arrived, they tried to tell us that our original car was given away and that we now had to pay for additional insurance and an upgraded car for $200 more. We protested, but they kept insisting until we threatened to report them to rentalcars.com. Upon returning the rental car, the agent in the parking lot found a tiny mark (less than 1mm in diameter) and insisted the car was damaged during our rental period. We didn't have any rock hit the windscreen, and this car had so many flaws/marks that there is no way we could have noticed this little mark before renting. They claimed that since it wasn't shown in the original rental contract that it was our fault. These people are crooks and scum. Rent from someone else. If you're unfortunate enough to rent from them, take a DETAILED VIDEO of the entire car with your phone and put down every little tiny mark, no matter how small, in the contract before taking the keys. read more

we rented a Citroen C3. Handling at the desk took 10' and I had to wait another 10' for the one in line before me. I received a very new car. The desk officer Fabio was very friendly. Handing it in went very smooth, took about 5'. I certainly can recommend B-rent. read more

I waited for hours to get my car. When I brought it back, they also took forever to get me checked out. And the extremely miserable rental car agent found the smallest spots on the car possible and charged a ridiculous amount for them. She was nasty and rude the entire time. I had the insurance on the car but now the company is refusing to send me the documents that I need to get the claim reimbursed. Please do not do business with this company. It was 100% the worst rental car experience that I have ever had. Possible the worst customer service experience overall. read more

This is one of the most dishonest companies that I have ever dealt with, more akin to the pickpockets roaming the streets of Florence than a legitimate business. Getting my car took forever, and I was surprised to learn of an 850 euro deposit (850 euro!!!) required for rental. They pushed insurance on me very hard but I was not going to pay $100 for their base package, which covered very, very little. I was given a car totally scratched up and in lousy condition. I would have objected, but I had already waited so long, and I did not come all the way to Italy to wait in line at their company. I took pictures of the major scratches before leaving, but upon return I was blamed for the tiniest, barely visible scratches, none of which were my fault. This resulted in over 300 EURO of charges for scratches for which I was not responsible!! I had pictures of scratches on the wheels that were already there when I received the car, but staff was extremely rude and would not even consider my photos. I was told it was my job to report this damage to staff, which is laughable because I had no way of knowing they would attempt to charge me for barely visible scratches, considering they were all over the car to begin with! These are glorified criminals posing as a legitimate business. By all means, choose a major car rental provider. These clowns will be out of business in no time at all. read more

B-Rent, car rental company is committing FRAUD on a regular basis. This is not the first time my family has rented from this company, my husband has rented several times from them and every time he rents their is a charge for damage we did not do. They are the only rental car company we have ever had charge us for damage and we rent on a monthly basis going within the city limits of Florence. I only needed the car for a couple of days and against my husbands warning I rented the car because it was a good deal,I didn't think it would be drama for 2 days of driving. Upon renting the car I received the paperwork stating the car had 2 areas where prior damage had been documented. Once I received the car there were damages all over. I spent almost an hour doing the paperwork for the car and more than 30 min, in the blazing sun, to actually get the car and leave the lot. I did not have to refuel the car before I returned it, that's how little I drove the car. Not to mention I parked the car on a private lot, where no on else parks!! When I returned the car, Giacomo, the same gentleman who did the Intial walk around with me pointed out a "ding and scratch" on the car, I have no clue where the damage came from. May I note that this is the same gentleman that did the initial walk around with me and as thorough as he was checking the car when it returned, he was not thorough with the initial check through and he would not note any damage he saw unless I pointed it out. Thankfully I had taken out the scratch insurance and so the damage he said I did was covered, but I wanted to make sure that all of the damage that had been noted the day I left the lot and the new 2 scratchs that were now on the car was on file. I went inside their office to speak to an agent to make sure that all of the damage was put on file so that no one would be charged for prior damage, just because they didn't see it. In the past we rented from this company at night and we missed scratches that were not noted, because of this we had to pay a hefty fee because we hadn't taken out the insurance, the fee was more than the 1 day we rented the car. I asked the female agent, Claudia, why the damage was not on the paperwork, she then told me that when someone rents a car with the insurance, they don't note the damage. Only uninsured damage is put on file. Another person checking in then chimed in and said " so if a person does not have the insurance and does not see any of the previous damage they will be charged for it?" Claudia then replied "yes" This is unacceptable. This is deceptions at its finest. Giacomo and I walked around the car so much, marking scratches. I figured I had marked them all but I obviously missed a couple. This company is fining people for damage previously on the car that the company refuses to document. Both employees informed me of this and had it not been for the insurance I took out, I would be paying almost 400 euro for damages I did not cause. Every spot I had to point out, even if the employee saw them he would say nothing and for some areas the employee told me that it was not necessary to document but I insisted he did. Fast forward 48hrs, when I'm returning the car, damage smaller than what we previously noticed, was pointed out as something I did and would've been charged for. I had the same terrible experience where the employee who checked in my car at the Milan airport station insisted I fill out an accident report for a small smudge on a fender that already had numerous scratches and dents. I did so under duress. Then I took a tissue to the smudge and wiped it right off -- but the employee refused to change the "accident" report. It took an hour of pleading with a supervisor to get this corrected. This company's low prices come with a high price of aggravation. read more

One of the worst car rental experiences I have ever had . When i told them I had my own insurance they made things very difficult . Rude unhelpful and really the bottom of the barrel . It was a terrible experience at this car rental. We had a reservation for a Fiat 500 or similar for the day. We were really looking forward to explore the surroundings of Florence in this typical car. Upon arrival they tell us that they don't even have a Fiat 500 in their selection of cars. We were really disappointed, but were then told that the amount of money payed for the reservation was extra and so we had to pay twice the amount to even get the car. As annoyed as we were, we decided to cancel everything with this car rental and went to an other one which was great. I do not recommend to hire with them, they might be cheaper but terrible experience to start your holidays with. read more
