This location is NOT closed. It is open and fully operational. Okay let me start out with a disclaimer, this soul food take out spot is in a gas station but don't let that deter you. It's clean and the owner is very friendly, it's a family owned business. The food is so good that I travel 30 minutes just for chicken but that's not all I get. We let Winnie's cater a few event we had and they never disappoint. If you never had sweet potato cornbread. I recommend you try it from Winnie's they are by far the best I had ever tried. The collard greens are just amazing and I was raised only on the collard greens my grandmother would make, and no one has be able to come close to it until I tried Winnie's. Baked Mac and cheese is a must. My family loves their yams/ sweet potatoes. The BBQ ribs, jerk shrimp and jerk wings are fantastic. The price is reasonable. My only complaint is sometimes the wings can be a hit or miss. I guess that depends on who is making them. I'm not letting that stop me. I will take my chances with the wings but I know everything else is always on point. Sides are usually made already and meat selection is cooked fresh when ordered. Southern comfort food for a reasonable price, friendly customer service and besides the wings everything else is always consistent. Try take out or let them cater your next event. You will not be disappointed.

Finally, I've found a take-out that specializes in low-fat Soul/Caribbean food. It is called Winnie's Take Out, and it is located inside the Conoco gas station in Amityville. Also known as Winnie's International Take Out, the business moved from its own restaurant space in East Massapequa after vandals destroyed the building's facade. The owner, Twimonisha Mason, explains that East Massapequa residents did not want a business like hers in that community. She feels that Amityville residents are more welcoming, and she offers them low-fat options, like grilled or baked poultry, fish and red meat. She pan sears and fries food, too. I recommend the plain grilled BBQ beef or pork ribs, which are lean, tender, and tasty. They have just enough sauce to coat the meat. The jerk BBQ ribs, although low-fat, were too spicy for me. I also recommend the sweet potato casserole, which is moderately sweetened with fresh-tasting pineapples--a dieter's dream. Winnie's posts its menu on Instagram (IG). Go to @winnies_takeout. You can also text Twimonisha for the menu. Contact her on IG to get her business phone number. Staff is friendly, and service is quick.
