Only one experience with Minder's but the customer service and quality was very good…read more Ordered an approx 80 lb pig for a pig roast at our house. Placed order over the phone, requested pig be butterflied and the head left on. No issues at all - extra charge for butterflying was identified upfront and the butcher verified that it had been properly cut when it arrived to the Retail location. Important to note that if you're ordering a whole hog - call it in about a week and a half early so that they can get the order in. I was on my way to pick up the pig with about an hour to spare the day before it was to be cooked and I received a call just making sure I was on my way. :-) It was nice to see that they were ensuring that I didn't forget about my pig. The butcher helped me load it into the car and provided extra cardboard so that my car wouldn't get bloody. The pig was very well prepared and tasted great! highly recommend Minder's. They also do other smaller cuts and beef. Locally owned - great company. Will definitely be doing business with them again.

Seattle moment…read more Walking around downtown, I spotted this old corned beef spot that's been there since 1948 and decided to go in. First guy I talked to either came from Dallas or knows Dallas inside and out. He has family there, has lived in Seattle a long time, and told me his grandfather used to bring him here as a kid. He's been eating here basically his whole life. Second guy had lived here for 40 years and said this was somehow his first time ever trying it, even though he'd walked past it forever and always meant to stop in. We stood there talking for a while. Really good guy. The woman behind the counter did not speak English, so I got to tell her in my very limited Spanish, "Thank you very much for your work. It looks beautiful. I really appreciate it." She answered me in Spanish, and then I had to admit, also in Spanish, that I was very sorry but I did not understand Spanish, I only barely know how to speak it. She laughed. I laughed. It was great. Then I got back home, opened the box they split for me and my mom, and this was half of it: best Reuben I have ever had in my life. Just one of those unexpectedly great little trip moments. Good food, good people, good conversation, and one of those places that feels like it's been holding onto a piece of the city for a long time.

A must try if you are a corned beef or pastrami fan! Huge portions so beware of what you order…read more Restaurant doesn't look like much, and interior has seen better days but you are here for the sandwich/ food. Ordering is by a paper menu. Staff is friendly and there is indoor seating (nothing outside). I spent my time watching Amazon employees walk around the block. Not a long wait. Sandwich is ready fresh and hot. Comes with pickle, potatoe salad and cookies. Sandwich is awesome. Loved the pickle. The potatoe salad was missing something. Could only finish half the sandwich. Highly recommend!

I am writing this with a super heavy heart!…read more We used to get our meats at the Queen Anne location and LOVED their quality and service. We recently started going to one of their locations outside of Seattle whenever we were in the area. The service remains flawless. It's one of the few butcher shops that consistently deserves a tip but they are always a bit extra! This week, we did a perfect surf & turf : wagyu steak and Chilean sea bass - complete with accompaniments. The fish was flaky and the steak was perfectly seasoned, seared and medium rare. As I was setting up drinks, I was the last one at the table. The steaks were sitting there and everyone had stopped eating. When I asked how it was, I was told "Try it, tell us what you think". I sliced into the steak. It looked amazing. I bit in. BUT afte a chew, I stopped eating it. The beef was definitely 'off' andd spoiled - which explained why no one was eating it. Fortunately, it was surf & turf night so we still had enough to eat. But after paying wagyu prices and lovingly cooking the steak, the disappointment was beyond words. Obviously I will call the store as I want to make sure they pull the remaining inventory from theirr display. At this point, my husband is worried as he had three bites as he presumed the aftertaste was from the truffle sauce I had drizzled. Now, he's worried that he will get sick. I guess time will tell. So FYI --- make sure you check the original dates of the meat before they cut/vaccum seal. Long story short - I hope they read this and review their QA processs to ensure all meats are dated/rotated/stored.

You can see where we stood in the picture I posted of the shops' entrance. A group had been standing in the exact same spot just before us, so we didn't think we were in anyone's way. We also didn't realize this area was shared with the butcher shop because 1. we didn't see it 2. we are not Seattle locals and only came for Eggslut. My boyfriend's little brother briefly leaned back against the meat shop's display case, and the owner immediately snapped: "Do me a favor and get your butt off my case." His brother got off the case right away, but the owner continued to mutter "fucking rude". He stared us down and started shooing us away with his hands, literally saying "Get." like we were animals. We stepped aside, but he kept staring us down. I asked him, "What are you looking at? What do you want us to do?" He escalated things further and said: "Do you want me to come find your house?" Absolutely inexcusable to say to anyone, let alone a young woman. When my boyfriend said, "You could have been nice about it." He said, "I don't have to." This wasn't just a reminder about his equipment, it was the tone, the hostility, and the lack of basic respect. No one came into the building after us, so we were not obstructing anyone from going to his business. We were simply waiting for our food and were met with aggression from this man. He does not deserve any business after such a lack of basic decency.

We were simply waiting for our food, causing no trouble, and were met with aggression from the owner for no reason. Beware of this behavior when you step anywhere near his business, especially families and POC. Eggslut employees also mentioned that he is a "serious" person. Maybe he is salty that people are only coming inside for Eggslut, not to buy his meat...unfortunate.
