It was very hard and spongey. I wasn't able to sink my teeth into it but it gave off the earthy flavor that I sometimes associate with tripe. Service has always been courteous and prompt and the menu looks like there are a good assortment of choices. The two times I've been here I've ordered the mussels which includes great sauce and spread with seasoned ground meet. Was so yummy! The second time I came I tried the CHICKEN FRICASSEE. Man was that great! It includes 4 pieces of bread, chicken and the mushroom sauce. So good! Both times I had some of their assortment of single scoop ice-cream which in this area, something about the milk from their amish cows is so creamy. In a recent visit to Lancaster I did some searching online for places to eat and followed the recommendations to the Horse Inn. Sooo happy we did!! The food was amazing. My husband says it was the best shrimp and grits he's ever had! My steak tips were equally as yummy. The sauce was out of this world good!! The fries!! Jesus what was that sorcery ?? YUMMMM. Hats off to the owners and chefs! Only bad thing is we don't live close by and we can't go back soon. But we will be back!!
