Very average food for the price they charge. Everything is made fresh to order and you order on a touchscreen which makes it easy to customize your burger anyway you want it. This is the only plus here. Now don't get me wrong my food was good but the burgers were swimming in grease. The little bags they place the burgers in each had a puddle of grease in them. For a family of 4, we had a hotdog, 3 burgers, 3 fries, side of mac & cheese, 1 shake and 3 drinks that came out to over $80. Every table was dirty and it wasn't that busy at noon on a Sunday when we were here. As a whole Shake Shack has a very good reputation, so I'll have to give them another shot but I hope it's not the same next time. read more

Food was fresh, hot and tasted good! You honestly can't go wrong with their burgers here. They are always cooked very well. Crinkle cut fries are the best fries. Add cheese to them and you made them incredible! Pleasantly surprised by chicken bites! Milkshake was okay, not sure its worth the 8 dollars. I've definitely had better for cheaper at mom and pop ice cream spots. Restaurant was clean and modern. They had a shuffleboard table! Service was great, they brought the food out to our table. I've always been a fan of Shake Shack's wherever they are. I've always loved the taste of just about anything they produce which I've tried many items and every time they consistently produce a great burger, hotdog, or milkshake. This location in Lancaster is no different than many others that I've tried. Sure the cost of these burgers are higher than just about anywhere but you can taste the quality compared to other places and of course the taste is equally great. On the two seperate occasions I had the standard burger and crinkly fries with cheese and the chicken shake. Both times I filled my belly and came away with a nice smile. All that said, definitely give Shake Shack a go. You won't be disappointed. read more

I ordered a large soda. What i got looked like a medium but the server insisted it was a large. I ordered cheese fries. All of the cheese was at the bottom. I prefer my cheese on top of the fries. En route from the Poconos back home to Fort Meade, MD, DGS was very excited to stop here. I had not eaten at a Shake Shack for many years, but wasn't really hungry enough for a big meal. Still, I couldn't help but sample ;) Her cheeseburger was quite large and perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of sauce. She couldn't finish it so I ended up with two good-sized bites and was impressed. The bun was really fresh and the flavor delightful. Fries were basic but definitely fresh and obviously the oil wasn't old - which is a pet peeve of mine. Salted just right. It was tough not to snitch more than one. She got some kind of shake but I didn't try it - she was happy, though. Parking is ample & free, so it could easily be a stop each time we head up that way. read more

Here's the thing. Shake Shack does burgers really well. Their burgers are truly among the best and far better than the vastly overrated Five Guys. Their fries are pretty good but pretty average. They also claim to serve hot dogs but they really don't. What they serve is that lousy New York version of a hot dog where it's just a wiener and bun and condiments. No chili sauce or other things to put on it. It's that hot dog New Yorkers brag about, little realizing that people in 49 states are laughing at them and their pathetic idea of a hot dog. Here's the worst part: Shake Shack is WAY OVERPRICED! Their delicious burgers? Nowhere near worth what they charge! Those pathetic hot dogs? They should give them out as appetizers for free. Their milkshakes? I have no idea because I honestly can't afford one when I buy a meal. A burger, fries, and a drink costs a little over twenty bucks! Is their service relevant since you are expected to place your order on a screen? They have a bunch of indifferent kids working there, who aren't rude but by no means are they trained to treat guests special. The place goes for a spartan feel with concrete floors and barely there booths, which was probably chic when they started the business but now it just looks insultingly cheap. They charge this much but can't make the place feel more welcoming? This is a 'once every once in a while' (as in twice a year) kind of place. The place is just a week old and there are bugs to work out. Especially in the drive thru. The place opens at 11am and there are cars waiting in the drive thru at 10:45am so currently if you want to go here for lunch and you show up at noon, you will likely get your burger at 1:15-1:30pm. This is not their fault, there is a huge demand (saw 70+ cars in the drive thru the first week) for this new location, if it stays like this it could be problematic. Anyway they are currently trying to manage the volume ala' Chik-fil-a where they have people taking orders while you are in line, problem is, if it's your first time there and you haven't seen a menu, it's tough to provide an order when the person is standing 20 feet in front of the menu boards. Also the guy taking my order says when he hands me the credit card machine in the line "Sorry you can't provide a tip on this machine but we can accept cash tips" That's good to know if I ever think I should be tipping someone who takes my order in a drive thru. Food is always good and the Service was even better. My 2 year old daughter was crying because we had to leave and step away from the great ambiance they have. Upon entering, patrons have the option of ordering food at the counter (which no one was tending) or order at one of the kiosks. I opted for the kiosk and table marker. Finding a table wasn't bad, there are a few high top table and chairs for 4 people or there's table, chair, booth seat for the rest of the restaurant. Outside seating is an option but it's still winter so that's out of the question. Amble seating, just not that clean. Food came out hot and quick. The burger was as greasy as it appeared in the picture. Fries were good, not overdone not underdone, just right! Tried a shake. One size only. Have to pay extra for whipped cream. It was good but a little too much thickness since it's custard based. The only interaction with employees was when the food was brought out. Didn't see anyone upon entering or exiting. And that interaction was quick. It's pricey for a basic burger, fries, and shake. $42 for two burgers, two fries, and two shakes. Wasn't expecting to pay that for lunch for two ppl. Ordered online and food was available super quick! Chicken bites were hot and flavorful. Black n white shake was top notch! I liked the fries too. I love me a Shake Shack and would often drive out of state to visit one for lunch. So when I heard they were coming to Lancaster I literally was counting down the days. I did wait a few weeks after their opening for them to work out the kinks after seeing long lines, and hearing horrible stories about their food. I've now been here twice and feel they still have some kinks to work out, and the Shake Shack taste and quality I'm used to isn't quite there...yet. If you go be prepared, lines are still long. Once the drive thru had window service with a live person taking your order, however he was slow and took orders out of order. Lines inside are just as long. Ordered and paid for a Bacon Avocado Chicken Shack but received the normal Chicken Shack. Food always tastes great though! The drive thru line is never long anymore. I love Shake Shack burgers. The food here was on par. Quite excellent taste! Like most modern fast-foot type of joints, it suffers a bit in the service. Employees seemed a little lethargic and brought us the wrong sodas. As far as the atmosphere, it was clean but uninspired. This place let's just start by saying they have no vegan options basically. I get it, it's a burger place but if you advertise for plant based options you should be able to do a decent vegan burger... the bun isn't vegan and when I asked for a lettuce bun they sad they were out of lettuce. Also no vegan cheese and the sauce is mayo based- whatever. It's pricey for what you get I honestly don't understand the hype anymore now that we tried it.
