I go here a lot and this last time was horrible. Get there at 5 place whole order mozzarella sticks n fried shrimp for appetizers. Shrimp Came out at 515 and the sticks at 545 I asked many times hey did u forget them oh no it's coming. I get my usual Famous roast beef sandwich. It was a pile of burnt fat. When they say looks can be deceiving, lucky dog definitely fits that phrase. The pictures of the food looks really amazing but the moment I ordered my food. Complete disappointment. I think they were A.I pictures. I ordered a open face roast beef sandwich which lacked flavor. An tenderloin tip sandwich with mushrooms which didnt want on but they decided to put it on way. Roast beef sandwich was massive and the beer battered fries were good. Wings were a little greasy as I prefer smoked wings over fried like their's. The wings also lacked the amount of sauce I prefer. Service was outstanding; we had three servers/waitresses check in on us during our visit. Seems like a local hangout as the bar was packed with patrons awaiting today's football games. It's hard to find outside seating with outdoor heaters these days. Lucky Dog definitely adapted well. The closed tent keeps the wind from battering your face, the heaters, and even a TV. I know keeping this up through winter might pose a challenge, but I hope they keep this setup for as long as they can. I had the Turkey Basil. Good. The only thing I think it lacked was a texture component. Maybe add a strip or two of bacon or even some lettuce. I would have preferred more basil in the mayo too. My husband had the 'World Famous Roast Beef'. The only real criticism he had was that he prefers a thicker slices of roast beef. Lucky Dog has been a Lancaster staple for a very long time. I hadn't been in here years, mainly because I tend to stick to Lancaster City. If it were closer, I'd absolutely be a regular. read more

This is for the location on Willow Street. Second week in a row we walk in and it took us 13 minutes before anybody would come close to the door and then when they did, they said they would be back in a minute and they go stand and have some conversation at the bar and then the other girl goes into the kitchen and just stands there Instead of taking the 30 seconds that it would've been to see us. I would not recommend this place at all. For a place that opened up just recently you would think that they would be on their a game but for two weeks in a row for this to happen. Willow Street needs another solid competitor. Micks is good, but they're so crowded lately because they get all the business for the area. read more

This place has always been great, it has recently changed ownership and I think they have made this place even more of a gem. Food is great! Good sandwiches, wings, roast beef. Plenty of seating around a nice bar space. The new ownership re-did the upstairs area, gave it a much needed face lift and it looks great. There is a now a tent outside that allows for even more seating. Beers are priced to move. Recently the accommodated a group of over 20 for me and they were extremely flexible and customer service was fantastic. This is a must stop if you are visiting Lancaster! read more

We never had to wait long for our waitress and waiter to check on us and food came out quick. Nice menu selection and prices. They take reservations. Not super busy on a Saturday at 5pm. Great food for decent prices. They often run specials which can't be beat. They do get slammed at times and have a bit of a wait with the service but they make up for it in kindness and getting your order out quick. This is our go to spot after kids hockey practice and games if we don't have other plans. read more

I have to say your place looks amazing! I come often from long-island. I enjoy everytime I come out. Bobby, Heidi, and Zak are amazing. They are always on Par also love the communication they always have good people skills. I will continue to come here when I'm out. Just one minor detail I hope you would consider. That would be indtalling a touchtune system or ami system where we can play music that would be nice also if the lights could be dimmed a little. Other than That it is an amazing place. First off, the staff is fantastic. Everyone is friendly and that whole "service with a smile" thing exists here. Great people! However, the food? No. Just... no. I made the mistake of ordering a special - salmon and shrimp in a bbq sauce. The shrimp were edible, but the salmon? I could have licked a dirty aquarium and then chased it with a shot of watered-down BBQ sauce for the same effect. Even the broccoli and mashed potatoes were inedible. If I go back I am going to try something "safe", maybe a burger from the regular menu. Or maybe I just hit the restaurant on an off night. Great people. Food? Not so much. read more

I gave this place three stars because the food is good, however the ambiance is not. The bar is old and it could use a complete overhaul. It's a small place and it usually gets really crowded; which can make it quite uncomfortable. I think the reason that it does so well is because it's more like a place that the locals go. We stopped in after a day at Hershey Park and tried the tacos . The ground beef had zero seasoning and was bland and tasteless, disappointing for sure and the tortillas tasted stale and old . The fries that came with them ....what a disgusting mess ! They were a grayish-beige and shiny which screamed " undercooked and soaked with oil " , I didn't even eat them after trying one . Just awful and very disappointing. Usually the food here is fantastic and we have a great time but not this time , we left after we finished our beer . We also couldn't help but notice that there were only 5 other people there besides us , it's usually a pretty busy place . Hoping the change of ownership isn't the reason for the lack of patrons and awful food . We'll give it one more chance and see if it gets better . read more

I am so frustrated with the service I received tonight (February 6 at approximately 8:00 PM) at the Lucky Dog café. I have been a patron there for years and always had a positive experience until tonight. A group of friends and I are regulars on Tuesdays to play trivia. I ordered an entree which was a steak, prepared medium rare, along with a house salad and broccoli with extra lemon to employee #1. When my entrée was delivered (not by employee #1) I immediately noticed that my steak was overcooked and that I did not receive any lemons. I rarely ever send food back to the kitchen however, after cutting into the steak and taking a two bites, seeing absolutely no pink I then asked employee #2 for the steak to be replaced. She then attempted to remove my entire plate of food back to the kitchen. I asked her to please leave the broccoli and shrimp so that I could continue eating. I asked her if she could please bring me some extra lemon (for the second time) and a to-go box. After waiting 6-8 minutes and not receiving the lemon or to-go box my new steak arrived with eight pieces of lemon ON TOP OF THE STEAK by #2. (By this time I had paid my bill and left a generous tip because trivia was almost over and I was still waiting to eat my meal.) I explained to #2 about my frustration of having to wait so long for the lemons and then for them to be delivered on top of my steak was ridiculous. #1 server then stopped by and asks what is going on. She offers no apology, and very rudely asked me "what do you want me to do about it" without even stopping to speak directly to me. Before I could answer, my table-mate suggests that they comp my meal (to which I had already paid and left a tip). A few minutes later, one of the employees slams the refund for my entrée (keeping the tip money) on our table. I am incredulous. I then asked employee #3 if I could please speak to a manager. He informed me that there is no manager on duty. I then asked who was in charge and was told that the owners were not in that evening, but that they would be in the next I told him I was very disappointed with the service, especially #2's attitude. He then informed me that she is "only 18 years old and is the owner's daughter and that he doesn't know what I am screaming about because she's so young". Again, I am absolutely shocked at the attitude of this employee. #2 then drops off a piece of paper with (I assume) the name of the owner and phone number. I am still waiting for my to-go box when I am informed by #1 that they don't give to-go boxes on meals that have been comped. Now I am livid but I am keeping my emotions to myself. I still have not received any kind of an apology or shown any sincere concern from any of the employees, only weak excuses. By now, almost all of the dining area has cleared out and I'm still eating part of my steak that was ordered over an hour ago. I receive the to-go box from #2 and without saying anything, she takes away the piece of paper with the phone number and owner's name before I've had time to put it in my purse. Unbelievable. Finally, employee #4, whose name is Heidi, walks over to my table from where she was tending bar. She asks me what was going on, and I tell her. She explains that it was a busy evening, there was some miscommunication amongst employees, and how it really isn't that unusual to have eight slices of lemon presented on a steak after the customer has asked twice for them. She is willing to listen to me, which was a first that evening. I then ask her for the name and phone number of the owner which she very willingly gave me. I thank her for her time and for listening to me. I have not yet made the phone call to the owner because I am dreading hearing feeble excuses and no apologies which is really all I wanted from the start. I therefore cannot recommend this restaurant any longer because most of the staff are sorely in need of customer service education. read more

Three words- roast beef sandwich. A-mazing! Didn't even know how good roast beef could be until we stopped in here. Highly recommend their spicy bbq sauce on the side as well (think even better Arby's sauce), and you absolutely must order the beer battered fries. They are our go to #1 favorite fries we've had and we come sometimes just for them alone. The cheesesteak I had was awesome too. Lucky dog is the Ferrari of dive bars. It has solid food and the atmosphere is laid back. They ALWAYS have the game on and a number of folks watching it. I'm not very "sports" but I would think this would be a good place to go. The wings are solid, the meatloaf is solid, the cordon-bleu balls are solid, the clams are solid, and the burgers are OUT OF THIS WORLD. Don't go here expecting some fancy highfalutin - cloth napkin place. The Tiffany's handbook of manners did not prepare you for this! Go here expecting a dim-ish bar, with sports games on each TV, wood paneling, brass wall sconces, smiling faces and tasty food at a cheap price. We've been a patron here for over 20 years. Tonight was a big disappointment. Only 2-3 bartenders on duty to cover outdoors, upper restaurant and bar area. Service was somewhat slower and we all could see the issue of understaffing. I've always gotten the great roast beef sandwich-the beef was dry and curled at the ends, the meat was cold. The other dish ordered was a smoked sausage sandwich-it wasn't smoked sausage, but kielbassa, be transparent on the ingredients. Don't think we'll be stopping in as often. read more

They're doing COVID restrictions the right way, the food is consistently delicious and the staff friendly and attentive. In a non pandemic world, it's a fun local hangout bar--great for watching those football games and hanging with rugby mates. A recent Saturday afternoon visit on a whim and we found a walled heated tent in the parking lot with a TV hung and tuned to the PSU game -- SCORE! We split some wings, done as ordered, extra crispy with sides of extra sauce and their homemade Blue Cheese dressing. Additionally an order of the fresh cut fries--also delicious, but needed salted. We had carry out tonight. We started with a dozen Old Bay wings which were delicious! I had the roast beef sandwich, which is the best in Lancaster county. Always tender and juicy. My wife had the tenderloin tip sandwich which is one of her favorites. Tender and delicious! It's sad to see our favorite pub without bar stools, but we still enjoy their carry out. They have a tent outside for nicer weather. They have put Plexiglass on the tables in the dining room in order to make safer during the pandemic. I highly recommend their food. read more

I love this place! By far one of my favorite places to go hang out eat or have some drinks. It's like Cheers! Oh and get the specials! They will not disappoint.
