I give this place 5 stars for many reasons. there original hot buffalo wings are like heaven. Get a 20 piece for NFL games at home, there ranch sauce and veggie tray go great with the wings, there bathrooms are modern and always clean. people complain about the wait but they cook the chicken when you order and chicken needs to be cooked right. call in a to go order like i do. Lastly the place that was here before "Louisiana hot wings" was a dump. I told them it was after quietly waited over 10 minutes just to order and they gave me a "chip on the shoulder stare" I told her you can stare at me like that all you like and you will be out of business in a month. 3 weeks later they were. Worst run wing stop I have ever been too. It's super bowl Sunday. I order my wings online to get before the game. I receive a confirmation email stating that my wings will be ready and I can go in pay, and pickup. I walk into the store at the scheduled time (15-20 minutes after ordering) and there is a large line with an angry group at the front. The franchise owner had the bright idea of not STARTING the wings until payment was complete (which wasn't an option on the website). Because of this every person in lines wing orders hadn't even been started yet. So essentially my pickup time would be about an hour late. I promptly left. I will never go back to this location. Also the manager hid and made one of her employees take all the brunt of the anger from people in line which I also didn't appreciate. read more

I made an online order at about 4:50pm and i arrived at the store around 5:10pm. When I got there the cashier was on the phone having troubles putting an order in. It was so much trouble that the cashier had to call the other two staff members for help- mind you, the other two members were busy preparing orders. So I waited in line for about 10 minutes and waited an extra 20 minutes for the food to be ready. I wasn't the only one upset, there were a couple other customers who were in line behind me. Some of them told staff members that there were no ketchup and plastic containers for the ketchup, but all the staff did was pump a small amount of ketchup into a larger cup and told us customers that there's still some left. It was a bad experience. My rating is based off of the food. One star for the fries and one for the chicken to accommodate my visit here today. read more

As much as I enjoy the food...the wait is always extreme. I actually started the timer on my phone today to see how long it would take. At 17 minutes I finally went up to the Counter to check on the status of my food. They had not even started my order and after I complained it took them 2 minutes to get it to me. So...if I hadn't said anything, I expect I would have waited much longer. The young kids working there were very nice but their boss was a horrible boss...never said please or thank you to her employees...it was, "make fries" or "clean up". I can't imagine working there. I'm not really one to go into personal detail, so I'll just tell it as it is. - Wings were bare, dry. - Tasted like everything was coated in sugar, which I'm sure is the case. Parmesan garlic wings? No. That white, powdery stuff isn't parmesan. It's powdered sugar, I swear. Same with the fries. - Blue cheese tasted like water and ranch dressing, most likely came from a huge vat ordered from the franchise. - The 39 cent processed dinner rolls can be bought from the Lucky in the same strip mall. Marked-up price of a grocery good. They shouldn't even be sold in a restaurant. I wouldn't be so critical if the prices weren't so high, but they're up there. The first point is especially befuddling, though. Why do the parmesan garlic wings taste like nothing but sugar? Sugar shouldn't even be in the recipe. Cool cups, though. Very greasy, poor service, expensive cost for small wings. Weird paper wrappings for food, no plates offered- paper or otherwise. I've always enjoyed buffalo wings and wanted to give Wingstop a try. I go in about 5pm. I tell the counter person that I've never been there before and so I ask what is popular. I order a 10 piece wings half garlic parmesan and half regular spicy (buffalo). She indicates that it will take about 12 minutes. No problem, I leave to make a call and come back 12 minutes later. The counter person is completely different, they do not have my order up. I step up to the counter and look around no service. I lean over the counter and see the guy frying. I say where is my order? I was told it would be done in 12 minutes? A muffled answer and he continues frying. I ask again and finally somebody hands me something. I get a small paper try with a greasy wax paper of red wings stacked on top of yellow wings. No plate, nothing. Yucky looking, I pull the waxy greasy paper stack apart so I have a seperated the two types of wings. Some wings are smaller than a female thumb. I literally squeezed grease out of the parmesan garlic wings about a half teaspoon each. they are stove out but extremely greasy. No garlic taste but perhaps I am holding them to my cooking standards, I did see powder substance at the bottom of the grease. The spicy hid the the grease well so it was not so obvious. read more

I have been eagerly awaiting the opening of Wing Stop at the El Cerrito plaza. I live just a few blocks from the plaza and walk by almost every day, but I was underwhelmed by my first experience. I will certainly give them another try, but I'm going to wait a little while, let them work out any new opening jitters and come back for another taste. One thing I might not be able to wait that long for? The fries! Fantastic! Fresh cut and delicious. I ordered the "small" (which was enough for me and then some). We also ordered 10 wings, and a 4 piece boneless strip. The boneless strips were pretty small. $5.99 for that? You have to have bigger strips than that! I'm also disappointed to have paid $5.98 for the 10 wings. They were very scrawny, and when you think about the $0.60 paid for each wing you realize the waste of money. The sauces? Good, not great. Nothing exceptional, but about what I would expect from a chain, so I'm not complaining too much. I'll be back in a few weeks to see what's changed and give it another chance. Don't bother with the scrawny wings though. Give me some meat on the bone! For now, I'll say they should call this the "French Fry Stop" since that's where the highlight was. read more

I placed an order online on 3/9. Online it advised I cant pay through the system only in person. I arrived at 1155pm (they said they closed at 12am) all the lights were out but two employees still inside. I advised I was picking up my order not placing one. One of the employees (he was short Caucasian with glasses) yelled at me and said OH WELL YOUR NOT GETTING YOUR ORDER IVE ALREADY TOOK OUT THE REGISTER TOO BAD! I tried to tell him that I couldn't pay online and its not 12am yet. He didn't care, didn't let me get my food and kept fussing at me telling me oh well they are closed. I'll be going to social media and family and friends next because I've never been disrespected in this manner ever! He needs to be trained properly and understand that if an establishment closes at 12 let it stand at 12am. I'll never be back and am now looking into other options for meals. I've been here before and have watched this same employee have "regular customers" skip the line and other customers not wear masks and he wont say a word. Bad day or not thats not okay behavior. Next time I'll make that extra drive to Berkeley and go to Fire Wings if I want good food and better customer service. read more

The owner of this restaurant needs to send in a secret shopper! We went in and ordered our food, no problem. The problem, arose when the two people after us got their food first. There was even someone who ordered before us still waiting. We cancelled our order and got our money back and went some where else to eat. I went to the El Cerrito Plaza Wing Stop for the first time tonight. Had eaten at other Wing Stops just a few times in the past, none recently. I did not have a good experience. I was with kids and in a rush, and the cashier said the meal would be ready in 11 minutes. 25 minutes later, still no wings. I ordered both boneless wings as well as strips. The taste is fine -- in fact, the Garlic Parmesan was excellent -- but the price is quite high, especially for the strips. The chicken strips are tiny -- not much bigger than a boneless wing -- but are priced far higher than the already-high-priced wings. I could not believe the minuscule amount of food that came with the 7-strip order. Will never order strips again. I wanted to clear my table, but could not find a trash can. Seriously. How can there be no trash can? And I just read the other reviews, and see that a reviewer in 2010 commented on the lack of a trash can. Certainly a first for me that a restaurant lacks a trash can, and incredible that this is an ongoing problem. If they dropped their prices to something more reasonable, I'd be a repeat customer. Wing Stop has the best fries! I know they have sugar in them, but they are tasty tasty tasty! Something in the seasoning makes them addictive and once you pop one in your mouth, your fingers can't stop. Their wings are good too. The lady at the counter was very friendly and nice. This wing stop used to be very good for late night flavorful chicken, but now the only thing that's tasty is the fries IF they are freshly made. The chicken took too long to come out and didn't seemed cooked all the way just smothered in sauce which was tasty. I wanted to like this place and was pretty excited when I saw it. However I've eaten here twice and was unimpressed both times. When your specialty is wings, you'd expect the wings to be good right? This places wings suck...plain and simple. They aren't very meaty at all and the "flavors" are pretty horrible. I have tried 4 different types and wasn't impressed with any of them. The fries were pretty good, still had part of the potato skin on them which you don't see very often. That was about the highlight of my dining experience. The manager seems like a nice guy and the rest of the staff were decent. However there is no garbage can to be seen. Also the napkin situation is pretty akward. Wings are messy and instead of giving you napkins or having a dispenser on each table there's this roll thing at the counter next to the condiments. This chain has a good idea but the wings just suck. How can you specialize in wings and have crappy wings? If you're really craving some wings you're you'd be much better off going a few blocks down to Safeway and getting those Foster Farms Honey Glazed Wings you can toss in the microwave. They are delicious and meaty and Wing Stop doesnt have anything that can compare. You'll also be spending less money if you go this route. read more
