This is the second time in one year that my husband and I visited this restaurant. First time we had wings they were really good but the service isn't quick and it's blah. No smiles thank yous or please come back. Today we tried again now you have to order on a large touch screen as no one mans the front. We picked bacon cheeseburgers because according to the picture it came with onion rings. We thought thats why it's $3 more. We waited for almost 30 min. No onion rings we were told all sandwiches come with fries. Ok another lesson learned don't go by the picture on the large touch screen. The burgers had what looked like turkey bacon on it and we could tell the burger Pattie was pre formed shape meaning it was previously frozen not a fresh patted burger. So for 25.00 we got frozen hamburger Pattie and fries. Now we have learned our lesson no more chances. This was not a good experience. One of my kids had a late game and wanted something other than what was stocked in the fridge. The wings were fine. Everything else I ordered as backup in case the other kiddos were hungry was not good. The funnel cake might have been from last month. I specifically ordered lemon pepper chicken fried hard with cajun ranch cheese fries and a drink. But what I got was a nightmare. The chicken was soft, undercooked, red, and completely drenched in pepper. The flavor was nothing like lemon pepper. It tasted like someone cooked an order of sweet sesame or mild chicken and then tried to pass it off as lemon pepper. It was utterly disgusting, and I only managed to force down three pieces before throwing the rest of the chicken in the trash where it rightly belongs. And don't even get me started on the drink - it was so tiny that I could hide it in my hand. The only part of the meal that was fit to be eaten were the Cajun Ranch fries, which were just okay. Our flavors were hot, honey hot and lemon pepper. I really enjoyed hot and honey hot, but not so much on the lemon pepper. The flavors are different from other wing places. Seems like they combine their own seasoning. As for the Lemon pepper had too much garlic seasoning and not enough of the Lemon. Maybe they got the pepper season wrong? I notice on some reviews that they mess orders a lot. The dining area was not so clean, but they were busy at 8pm. The cashier was so nice. 1st things 1st there is an "unclean" smell when you 1st walk in. Not impressed in no way shape or form. Thankfully my order was ready. This is when it starts to go downhill. I hate it when my food sits in a tied up plastic bag because it sweats and you're once crunchy is now soggy. Same goes for the fries, crispy fries are soggy, and the "cajun" seasoning helped in no way. I started regretting my choice as soon as I started eat the 1st wing. At that point, I'm starving, my husband & I have been traveling for over 8 hours & it will have to do. Would I return? Nope. Did it get the job done of ending my hunger? Yes. This place is so delicious. I tried it for the first tie this week and I was very pleased with my meal. I ordered the 3-piece catfish and a 10-piece wing of me and my friend to share. We split our meal so we each had half of each meal. I have no complaints about this meal it was amazing. I think this is the best fried fish that I have had in Birmingham. I just ordered a 10 piece combo from this place. I ordered 10 traditional Buffalo medium wings with cheese fries. Don't even bother buying their fries, you can get better tasting fries from Walmart in the frozen section for cheaper. The cheese was that cheap ball park nacho cheese. Not worth it. The sauce was also not what I was expecting. I ordered Buffalo medium and they were almost sweet?... zero Buffalo flavor. Not sure if mine got mixed up with someone else. I also had a strange experience with the bones being way more brittle that any other traditional wing. Almost every single wing would break off in my mouth and I'm digging my tongue around my mouth looking for bones. I very rarely give any place five stars because you have to get everything just right for that and I don't hastily give it out but this place has the best wings I've tried anywhere. Often other places have wings that are small and usually overcooked but Wings R King doesn't skimp like that. They offer full size wing portions and cook them properly. No chewy and dry wings here. Perfect size cooked to perfection and the flavor is spot on. The fries are fantastic as well with a light but noticeable seasoning cooked at just the right crispness. The man who took my call in also rang me up and was a very pleasant and friendly gentleman and my food was ready right when it was stated when I called. Some may frown on the location and the dining room isn't fancy at all but it's clean and the food is why you're here anyway. They offer burgers and other typical items found in your average wing place but I haven't tried any of them. I love their whole wings so I went there today. Their drive thru menu board states that 4 whole wing only should cost $4.99 plus tax. When I got to the window for pickup, I noticed I was being charged $1.00 more. When I pointed it out to the cashier she said they recently changed the price but hadn't had time to update the menu board and there was nothing she could do about it. Excellent wings, absolutely awesome! We ordered the mild buffalo, bbq, and the Cajun ranch. Every one was great, flavor and texture was spot on. The restaurant looks a little rough outside and inside but Sometimes you have to overlook those things for the best food around. We will definitely stop there again soon. And I must add that the prices there very reasonable, I've paid quite more at other restaurants.
