Walk in and you are surrounded by large inanimate objects of some sort of Chinese relation. Sit down and you quickly realise your surrounded by signed autographs. It seems Mr Wing (that's his name honest) is a huge supporter of man united; because of this the team sometimes eat here and seem to love the place. So you never know you may be sharing your sweet n sour with Ronaldo. Celebrities apart Wings is in a league of its own in Chinese food. The service is fantastic and the BBQ spare ribs may have you holding the chef at gun point for the recipe. Wings isn't the cheapest experience I've ever had, but hay it was my parents footing the bill, what can you do? On the whole though defiantly a competitor for top Chinese in Manchester.

Having been to the establishment in Chorlton many times, I was pleasantly surprised when a friend…read moresuggested we go to the Laundrette in town. Recently opened, the new restaurant is one of the few on First Street so it is quite easy to find. Obviously we took advantage of the January offer and judging by how busy it was on a Tuesday night, so did a lot of other people! Walking it the vibes were really good with great lounge music playing and people chatting away. The menu and drinks offerings seemed to be the same and prices very reasonable. We all knew what we wanted to have anyway- our favourite burger or pizzas! We started with a sharing platter which would probably suit 2 people more than 4, but everything on the board was cooked perfectly. We especially liked the spicy mayonaise as it had a good kick to it. I really liked the burger- big thick and juicy with accompaniments to match and we ordered 1more mac and cheese to share halfway through our meal cos we couldn't get enough of it! The staff were really friendly and bubbly which made the night an even better experience. We sat on the outside tables, so you might want to watch out for the heaters, as they are really hot! I must say, I was very impressed with this restaurant, and dare I say it, as good as the original!

The atmosphere was great fantastic tunes playing in the background which really got us excited for the night ahead of us. We got three drinks one of which was a shared which was served in a massive popcorn container! It was delicious and worth the money. If coming here definitely try one of the cocktails they are gimmicky and very fun to drink! A great place for a catch up session with the girls and for prepping a night out on the town. I will be back!

Magical? Chemical?…read more The alchemist is not only a nice surrounding to sit in but the service and food are great and delicious. When we checked in and were asked if there were any allergies we made jokes about my husband's allergy to cinnamon - that we would not need to worry about out it before desert. We ordered a few items from the menu - which is a very delicious mix of classics with some twists (tempura fried fish and chips for example). Order was taken and a couple minutes later the manager came and said "I am sorry - but the sauce to the fish contains a bit of cinnamon" wow! We change the order of course and the manager came back to the table asking if we would be worried about cross termination. We have been not and everything went well after that. Great service. The food itself plays with the alchemist theme for example the chorizo meatballs come with a syringe to inject your own amount of cheese (what you think? Yes of course o injected the whole Syringe into the little delicious meatball duhh). The menu consist of a lot of small items which makes me so happy since I can have so many bites of different things and at the alchemist they are all worth it! And of course classics like burger, salads and sandwiches alongside their mains. The menu is not too big but literally has something for everyone. You have to try the crispy pork skins! After we had been told that the crispy fish contains cinnamon my husband learned they offer their "chicken in a basket" as a vegetarian version as well and that is what he got. Damn that is so good: A bed of chips (fries for our American friends) are surrounded by one of the best coleslaw I had in a long time (almost as good as Guy Fieri's if not even better) then slightly pan seared onions and peppers layer on top of the fries. Ready to be mixed in. Then of course a generous amount of chicken or in this case plant based chicken smothered in a sweet chili sauce. Not to forgot to mention that it came with an extra little bowl of dipping sauce. Delicious! We also had a mocktail which name I might not be allowed to recite here let's named it "virgin adult film star" what a perfect combination of fruit, creme and sweetness. Yummmmmm To end the night I had coffee and Choclate - any serving of coffee comes with a set of three pralines. What a way to end the night at the alchemist. Great atmosphere perfect service and delicious food and drinks.

I've been many many times since and now I live so close by, it's one of my local bars on a night out. This underground tiki-themed dive bar is small, but always has the best atmosphere. The drinks are all yummy, mainly rum based and the cocktails are a delight to watch being made and to drink! The bartenders in Liars are very friendly and are always up for a laugh. I do find that Liars Club is better during the week than at a weekend - the weekend gives off a different vibe, and gets a little too busy for my liking - but rest assured you'll have a good night in here no matter when you visit.

Plus, I read this place was known for its many types of cocktails so I wanted to check it out! The bar is well decorated and looks like it was taken from a set of the cheap version of Gillian's island or something. The decorations can be considered tacky, but come on... It's a tiki bar! I give props to them for their effort. They have a big cocktail menu so don't come here for just a glass of wine or beer... Nope, you're in the wrong bar for that! When we ordered our drinks, we found out that there was a 2 4 1 deal, so we ended up with one extra drink...score! We ended up ordering the zombie (it had fire so I thought it was cool) and three others I can't remember... Haha. All I remember is the drinks were strings, some were well mixed while others were eh it was ok... Just tasted like alcohol. Though the bar is cool, it does have a smelly funk to it so prepare to close your nose especially if the place is crowded...the drinks are cool, pretty creative but the art of making yummy cocktails is kinda lost because the proportion of the juices and alcohol isn't quite well done. Fun place to go to though if you don't care about that stuff!

A group of esteemed Mancunians gathered in the Bier Haus, which is a delightful addition to one of Spinningfields latest hotspots, The Long Bar (owned by, you guessed it, Living Ventures). After a quick introduction to the charming prince, we were taken through a tale of the dizzying history of his family and their ties to the production of Kaltenberg, which is now brewed under licence and distributed by the award-winning Lancashire brewer, Thwaites. As Prince Luitpold explained, the company much prefers to set up local production of their fine ales to ensure the quality and freshness of the brews. Operations are expanding to Ukraine and Asia next year. We progressed through a wide variety of brews, each one getting a little bit darker and a little bit stronger. Before each tasting, the Prince imparted his considerable knowledge of the brewing process and flavour profile of the lagers and beers, including their impressive ABV%. In true Bavarian style, guests feasted on magnificent frankfurters the size of cricket bats in a bun (exaggeration but you get the point). After the tasting, the charming Prince fielded relevant questions about the brand, as well as the odd reference to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (don't ask). It was a truly unique experience, and we thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon in the cozy Bier Haus. We have a new found respect for Kaltenberg and The Long Bar.

We arrived just before last orders but received a friendly welcome and weren't rushed out. I enjoyed my Aperol Spritz (which thanks to our recent Yelp elite event is my new favourite aperitif), they also appeared to have some fancy beers on the menu including one relatively unpronounceable one which my friend I suspect deliberately chose as I was ordering. Music was good too and overall this was a much more chilled option than nearby Alchemist, which was rammed. Granted the selection of cocktails is severely limited, but really if you have a mojito on the menu that's essentially satisfactory, isn't it.

I had been to Sakura back in my uni days and remembered having a great night with my best girl friends (may be it was all about the company). I was again invited for a Greek Carnival night there last month, so decided to go because it was a Friday night, I had no plans and a carnival sounded like fun! Every time I get off the cab on Deansgate I have a bad experience (some drunk girl shouts at me or I see someone throwing up right in front of me at 11 pm) so that night could not be an exception obviously! I got off the cab and witnessed two guys (wearing super tight tee-shirts with a fake tan and looked like they walked out of an episode of Jersey Shore) fist fighting each other. Moving on, I enter Sakura and the whole atmosphere was very much like a trance Greek carnival -- Every one was dressed up in fancy dress with neon sticks in their hand and the club. The drinks were reasonably priced so I could afford quite a few and the music was good enough to dance to after a few cocktails. The crowd was very international and mostly filled with students. Verdict: I definitely had a good time, and come on what else can we expect from a night club in Deansgate Locks? The drinks menu on the tables were just with the cocktails and things like sake (and maybe shots??). It didn't have any of the bottles of beers and different draught beers. I asked the girl if they had Asahi beer - a well known Japanese beer. Since its a "Japanese bar/club", I expected them to have it. She didn't even know what Asahi was. We ordered a couple bottles of beer and opened a tab. We were surprised how much each beer was. For a simple bottle of beer, they cost £4.25 each. Didn't stay for food so can't comment on it.
