Round 1 of dim sum buffet..prawn dumpling and custard dumplings
    Penny L.

Once again it was my choice to eat somewhere (why is it always me)!? I have passed this place a hundred times or more enroute to wasabi ..and it's always seemed full, and the picture display of dim sum was more than enough to tease me in. Descending into the warmth there were numerous of large round tables filled with people who looked relaxed. We were seated in the naughty corner . I have to say the only thing that annoyed us was the regularity of the waitress asking if we had ordered yet..when we had only just say down and not opened the menu. After asking for the 3rd time we were ready. A dim sum starter to banquet, a main of sheczhan squid and noodles to share. When we ordered the green tea it was monitored regularly.. the teapot was replaced three times and they constantly refilled our cups. It was nice but a little OTT..if it had been wine we would have passed out. When the first course of dumplings came through they looked nice in the bamboo steamers but the consistency was a little off . The prawn dumplings shell was very sticky and came detached easily from the filling. The custard buns contained a slightly grainy filling but we're ok. These gone another set of assorted dumplings arrived..these were okay..and the main spicy squid was tasty too. I did hope there would be more dim sum choices though and I thought the quality would have been better. The service was really good..maybe too obsessive though to a point where you wanted to poke them with a chopstick. Accept when we wanted the bill they brought us more tea..Mrs Doyle from Father Ted had serious competition here! Not a bad place overall but I need to try the other restaurants!

Disappointed dim sum. Not worth the calories. They overcharged me by 1 dish. Good that I caught it. Regretted not checking first

I've wanted to try bao buns for a long while now but the majority of places do pork versions and as I don't eat pork that left me out to dry. Luckily Su caters to all and the crispy aubergine and sweet pepper vege bao buns are utterly delightful. Packed full of flavour and dangerously moorish. At around 3.50 each they aren't badly priced either. I'd need two for lunch but one is perfect for a quick snack. We went to the event stall on St Anne's Square but we're delighted to hear she's got a place on deansgate. I genuinely can't wait to try these again. Su herself is such a lovely, bubbly person. She clearly loves what she does and you can taste that in the lovely homemade food she sells.

Her passion and energy for what she does is amazing and extremely contagious! I'd already got some Fried Chicken to go from Jimmy but looking at the food Sue was making and hearing her tell me all about it, I couldn't not have some, so I opted to go for something I've never tasted before as appose to my usual Dumplings that I get all the time from anywhere that will do them! I went for a Pan-Fried Duck Bao - honestly, go and get one for lunch, you won't regret it! In fact, speaking of lunch, Dim Sum Su do a great £5 meal deal which gets you a Bao, Fries and a Drink - amazing!

Wow, just wow! Why can't this place be in London?!?…read more So I'm banished to Widnes for work, but all is well as I've found this lovely place in Warrington. Reasonably priced dim sum, although I don't know how it compares in price to other places in area to be fair, a good bar with proper cocktails, and live music at times if tonight is anything to go by. (Most dishes are between £3 and £4, with a "gourmet" selection on the back of the checklist that is closer to £7 a dish.) The star is admittedly the dim sum menu... it's a proper check the box dim sum menu that is luckily served at any hour... I've been to too many places that advertise as having dim sum that actually only have a dim sum starter, or worse have a good dim sum menu only available at restricted times. There's your standard fair, but also things a bit more exotics such as stuffed chillies, rib ends with garlic and chilli, asparagus with chilli and garlic, etc... and of course chicken feet, because one must. The place is clean, with a bit of a classy feel to it without being too over the top, and has a good atmosphere with really pleasant staff that do a good job of making you feel welcome. They do have a standard menu, but I doubt I'll ever be able to comment on it! :D If you're in the area for one reason or another and a fan of dim sum then you must make your way here... I already know I'll have an embarrassing amount of check-ins when I'm in town... watch this space.

You do? And through a dirty window, you say. Then look no further. At Happiness Cafe Restaraunt you can eat prawn toast and chow mien whilst watching the Magic Buses sail majestically past. It's almost like being at the Cloud 23 Hilton Skybar, except you can't get spring rolls there. Actually, you probably can if you've got enough money. At lunchtime for under £5 you can get a dish plus rice or noodles and a soft drink and for just under £7 you can get the same but with a starter. It's cheap and cheerful but so am I. Actually, I'm not that cheerful. Definitely cheap though. When ordering your free soft drink don't ask for a coke or a diet coke, it's just own cut brand cola which as we all know tastes like drip-tray leavings. I don't want to be the coca-cola snob here but somebody has to be. Get a lemonade instead, cheap lemonade is much more forgiving. Also lemonade just goes better with Chinese food.

It's perfect for a post-alcohol fuelled evening if you're in need of a pick me up at your desk. Although be prepared for the Chinese coma you are bound to experience after eating this! The place itself is primarily a take-out place with only 2 tables for those wishing to eat in. The price is fairly expensive I don't normally like spending £6.00 on a meal at lunchtime however when needs must... I haven't tried the chicken and sweetcorn soup however my colleagues are fans. I often go for the chicken/beef curry with half noodles and half chips. You get a fairly hearty amount with a drink on the side for £5.50, which isn't bad for a treat lunch. The time I also ordered a meat spring roll was the day I went overboard and spent the rest of my afternoon in a fairly unproductive way. The food is tasty and hits the spot when your looking for a belly-buster but isn't high on my list as is so many other good spots for lunch in Manchester city centre.
