I've wanted to try bao buns for a long while now but the majority of places do pork versions and as I don't eat pork that left me out to dry. Luckily Su caters to all and the crispy aubergine and sweet pepper vege bao buns are utterly delightful. Packed full of flavour and dangerously moorish. At around 3.50 each they aren't badly priced either. I'd need two for lunch but one is perfect for a quick snack. We went to the event stall on St Anne's Square but we're delighted to hear she's got a place on deansgate. I genuinely can't wait to try these again. Su herself is such a lovely, bubbly person. She clearly loves what she does and you can taste that in the lovely homemade food she sells.

Her passion and energy for what she does is amazing and extremely contagious! I'd already got some Fried Chicken to go from Jimmy but looking at the food Sue was making and hearing her tell me all about it, I couldn't not have some, so I opted to go for something I've never tasted before as appose to my usual Dumplings that I get all the time from anywhere that will do them! I went for a Pan-Fried Duck Bao - honestly, go and get one for lunch, you won't regret it! In fact, speaking of lunch, Dim Sum Su do a great £5 meal deal which gets you a Bao, Fries and a Drink - amazing!

As soon as we…read morearrived we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff, and this continued throughout the evening, which added to the dining experience. As the restaurant was a former pub, it is very spacious, with a variety of different sized tables for couples, familes or larger parties. We were given a table overlooking the countryside, which made a pleasant backdrop for our meal. The menu, as in most chinese restaurants was a comprehensive, bewildering list of dishes, so we plumped for one of the set Banquets, priced per person. When the first course of Yuk Sung arrived, I think we were all taken back by the size of the portions. This continued through the dim sum platter, and into the three dishes we had chosen for the main course. A set meal for three, seemed more like a set meal for five! On the whole the food was very tasty, some of the constituent parts of the platter were a little greasy, but this is a minor criticism. We all enjoyed the whole evening; good food, in a relaxed tranquil setting, rounded off with coffee and chinese tea. The Mandarin is fairly pricey restaurant, but it is definitely worth it for the high quality of the food and the general ambience. The Mandarin also a takeaway facility, with reduced prices compared to the restaurant. A definite plus point is that while you wait for your takeaway, you can relax in remarkably comfortable leather chairs!

Wow, just wow! Why can't this place be in London?!?…read more So I'm banished to Widnes for work, but all is well as I've found this lovely place in Warrington. Reasonably priced dim sum, although I don't know how it compares in price to other places in area to be fair, a good bar with proper cocktails, and live music at times if tonight is anything to go by. (Most dishes are between £3 and £4, with a "gourmet" selection on the back of the checklist that is closer to £7 a dish.) The star is admittedly the dim sum menu... it's a proper check the box dim sum menu that is luckily served at any hour... I've been to too many places that advertise as having dim sum that actually only have a dim sum starter, or worse have a good dim sum menu only available at restricted times. There's your standard fair, but also things a bit more exotics such as stuffed chillies, rib ends with garlic and chilli, asparagus with chilli and garlic, etc... and of course chicken feet, because one must. The place is clean, with a bit of a classy feel to it without being too over the top, and has a good atmosphere with really pleasant staff that do a good job of making you feel welcome. They do have a standard menu, but I doubt I'll ever be able to comment on it! :D If you're in the area for one reason or another and a fan of dim sum then you must make your way here... I already know I'll have an embarrassing amount of check-ins when I'm in town... watch this space.

The menu is expansive, covering many dim sum delicacies, lots of roasted duck dishes, including a variation that resembles Peking/Beijing duck, but without the added prep substituting a good roast duck in exchange for an on-demand item, all the seafood favorites (whole steamed fish, lobster, crab) and even some regional favorites never found on overseas menus, like Dinghu Shangsu (which is a mixed vegetable dish comprised of fresh and rare dried veggies like clouds ear, snow fungus, osmanthus, pickled Dictyophora, lotus seeds, silver needle fungus, et.al.) Service is typical efficient Asian, that if you get your order in from the start, everything progresses quickly and arrives expediently. If you attempt the Euro custom of adding this and that as the dining commences, you'll probably get frustrated trying to constantly interrupt the running servers to add just one more dish to your meal. Order up front and be happy. It's also a typical family-style banquet house, so as the crowds fill up, it will become quite loud with conversational chatter. All in all, a wonderful find parket outside of City Centre and nowhere near the Manchester Chinatown proper. Instead, this is where the local workers and families go to have a special lunch or dinner, and that's the ideal for really good Chinese food.

One is a tick box menu in Chinese only, the other is a laminated card that has English and Chinese, but is not as extensive as the Chinese only one. Just an FYI. Most of the standard stuff is in the English menu, but if you don't see it, make sure to ask because they probably do have it just isn't listed. Attentive and very helpful staff. This place is more than decent, it's great. I'd definitely come here more often if I didn't live in the so many hours away.
