Only came here for drinks and had a blast. It's a happening place on Friday evening. We started at the martini bar a few doors down then hopped over here and stayed. The ambience is fun and hip. Then randomly there were people painted and dressed as fairies dancing on tables and singing to live music. Really great spot that is easy to enjoy. Huge and beautiful space. Multiple bar areas to accommodate huge crowds if needed. We simply ordered at the bar and found open seating in the bar area. The 12 hr munich pork sandwich was delicious. The cheese and mustard perfectly compliment the flavor and the pork shines. Served with house fries that were delicious also; crispy, salty and delicious. The bratwurst klassic was also great; exactly what you expect in a brat. Fantastic selection of German and Czech beers to choose from. Service was great, but, it was early on a Saturday and the crowd continued to build even as we were leaving. They had a drag MC that sang requested birthday songs and occasionally had something, ie one question trivia with winner getting a prosecco bottle, to break up between dj'ed songs. It made it entertaining without overwhelming you from enjoying food, beer and conversation. Absolutely fabulous! read more

I've been here before but the first time I saw the pastries on offer online and got them to go .. recently I came here for a sit down breakfast. It was alright ... we ordered the pastries again (there are a range of morning buns, cronut and kruffins) which change all the time so you'll have different flavours when you go. These were amazing ... I've included pictures but cant for the life of me remember what the flavours were as i went last week and am only getting around to writing this now. Then again, i had forgotten the flavours after i ordered them. So we got these and also got a nice latte .. was a really nice drink and came in a lovely glass too, it was great. Whilst we were waiting for the food and drinks to come, i had time to look around form where i was sat. Was next to the window and could see outside which was awesome ... and the place itself was so beautiful, with real fire in the middle of the restaurant and copper containers that are used for brewing beers etc ... it has a nice feel to the place. Ive usually walked passed when its night time and its always heaved so I've never been in when busy but it's always full and popular. Back to the food, i ordered the french toast and a lot of things came with it. It was a nice portion and was set out really well. It was all great .. except the french toast itself had a flavour that i cant put my finger on ... might have been a spiced bread but it kinda put me off it a little because I wasn't used to it ... it was alright though ... i ate it all so that shows it wasn't awful. Very good place and I will for sure be back there someday. Albert's Schloss is gorgeous inside, I can't believe the transformation from the dingy black space that was there beforehand. It's great for groups as there's some large seating spaces and booths (the back far right corner looks particularly cosy). It was heaving on Saturday night (although not unbearably, as they are operating a queue system) and extremely loud so group conversation is basically impossible but the atmosphere is great and service is quick at the huge bar. Out of nowhere the DJ music (good) was turned off and a exuberant Algerian band appeared playing extraordinary frenzied music that had people walking in with delighted grins on their faces and even the bouncers dancing, which I don't think I've ever seen before. Fantastic! Drinks wise, I tried a fruit beer and the Irlbacher Helles - I'm not a beer drinker so these light options were good for me. My ale-loving boyfriend said the Dunkel should be good. Other than beer, there's an impressive range of schnapps and extensive cocktail menu (that's more pricey though). The snacks looked appealing too...I'll be back for some bratwurst. Combined with the stunning music hall upstairs, I can't think of anywhere else in the world I'd rather go for a gig. read more

Firstly, love the venue! The theming is a bit of a modern restaurant, but with lots of faux foliage, a nod here and there to the idea of old alpine ski lodges, and some elements of old school German bierhauses, such as a section of long shared tables and bench seating in front of a small cabaret stage. (I'm told good things about the cabaret, I must come back sometime to see it!). But I love the entire feel of the place. It makes you want to wander around and explore, as there's lots of things to look at and that catch the eye as you try to read your menu. The theming even extends to the toilets, which is always a sign of dedication. When we arrive, we are asked if we have booked, which we haven't, but luckily are still shown immediately to a table, and introduced to our waitress who tells us about the specials, and hands us our 'Luncheon Service' menus. The first thing I must admit I noticed is that the drinks were very expensive in my opinion, especially the fact that I only wanted a soft drink as I don't drink; a can of Ting can retail in Tesco at 33p, but here it's seen as some sort of high end special drink, commanding a price of £4, as is a bottle of Coca-Cola. However, that's just my personal take on the prices. I'm sure others may find them perfectly reasonable. The menu itself though is superb, showing off a bakery section using their own artisan baked goods, small plates, traditional Alpine classics with a modern twist, a wurst section, and a sides section that shouldn't be dismissed, as it boasts some greats! To start, we ordered the Schloss bread tin; seeded rye, sourdough, alpine special, something called "schloaf", and whipped butter. We also ordered the roast cauliflower and aged cheddar soup. The bread arrived in good time, but the soup didn't, leaving us to believe that the waitress may have not heard us properly, and simply assumed we were going to be sharing the bread tin between us. We didn't mind this, as it turned out the bread itself was absolutely sublime. Each piece of bread with its own distinct flavour, not overly dry, and not dull. We really enjoyed it. But then when we finished it, the soup arrived... maybe a delay in the order system, but that's forgivable, as the soup was excellent; comforting, rich, and seriously thick, topped with sourdough croutons. For our mains we chose the chicken schnitzel with the recommended side of "sformato", described as baked truffled potatoes with nuggets of melting Alpine cheese (who wouldn't go for that?!), and the "sausagefest" from the wurst menu, described as all three of the haus sausages (bratwurst, currywurst, and kaiserwurst), served with German potato salad, kraut, haus salad, and a sweet and spicy mustard. The food arrived. At first I thought the sausage fest looked a little expensive, but then I saw that each sausage lay right the way across a large oval plate... big beasty sausages! Each of them was superb in flavour, again with their own distinct tastes. The sauerkraut and potato salad were an excellent accompaniment, with their sharp tangy and creamy flavours balancing out well with the spicy meat flavours. The schnitzel I must admit was a bit bland. It was a little pale on one side, and didn't have any particular flavour, although the chicken itself was lovely and juicy. Perhaps some seasoning in the breadcrumb might liven it up a little? However, when accompanied with the mayonnaise and the delicious fresh salsa verde, it worked very well. It also worked well with the sfomarto, which was the highlight of the meal for me! It was a luscious and creamy mashed potato, with glorious globs of melty cheese throughout, and topped with crispy golden cheese and fresh chives. For dessert, we were told about the day's bakes. I was a little put off by the fact that the bake table is just out there in the public, right next to a 2 person table, but luckily the people who had been sat there throughout our meal didn't look like they had the flu, so we weren't too perturbed (but seriously, maybe some covers?). We opted for a cinnamon knot, which came with dipping chocolate, and a chocolate orange meringue kronut (the cronut being a hybrid of croissant and donut). We also had previously read online that Albert's do a superb hot chocolate, so opted for a couple of those too. The cinnamon roll was good, and worked really well with the unctous chocolate dipping sauce. The orange meringue kronut was very tasty. The meringue was more the type that's piped then blow-torched rather than baked in the oven, but it was still very good, with a sauce inside that lifted the whole thing. The hot chocolates were the perfect partner to these sweet delights. A lovely rich and velvety hot chocolate, piled high with whipped cream and a chocolate dusting, and big ol' marshmallow on the side. Delicious. It's not a place for a cheap dinner, but for a special occasion I'd definitely recommend it! read more

We stumbled across this restaurant during our first night on our first visit to Manchester, and it has certainly created a lasting impression! At first we thought we couldn't possibly be cool enough to eat here, as there were many trendy, young people standing outside the elaborately decorated entrance. However, upon entering the restaurant, we realized the diners (actually more like revelers) were friendly, lively, and of all ages. The food was fantastic (particularly the beef roast and truffle pizza), and the atmosphere cannot be beat. The inside of the restaurant is decorated in a very warm, woodsy feel with warm lighting, a dining area, a bar, and a dance area with a DJ. However, Albert's Schloss really shouldn't be characterized as a "club" venue or a rowdy bar. The music was at an appropriate volume and the few dancers were sort of just swaying among their tables, creating a relaxed feel. Better than the food ( which is delicious , great vegetarian options) is the camaraderie and cheerfulness of the crew. Special thanks to Holly who pays great attention to every detail ...whisking away my runny plate of egg yolk ( I'd requested hard poached eggs) making sure coffee was hot enough and adding an extra biscuit to my robust brew after I'd mentioned the day before how tasty it was. If I lived in Manchester I would easily go to Albert's Schloss AT LEAST once a week if not more. This place is what dreams are made of! First, let's start off with their decor. Just the entrance alone is quite breathtaking with the floral decorated entryway and their sign hanging in the loveliest of fonts. The way the inside is furnished is also very pleasing to the eye. The space is large with different types of seating offered at the bar, hightop tables and regular tables. Now onto the food and drinks...the menu offers a variety of German inspired plates sure to make everyone in your group happy. My recommendations are the following: - Sausage Fest (ladies love sausage fest) - Curry Wurst - Burrata Starter (hands down one of the best I've ever had) - Chicken Schnitzel For dessert I ordered scoops of ice cream and the milk flavor stole the show! Big big big big big big fan of this place! I'm not too sure if I ever sat down and thought a giant German beer and food hall was missing in my life - but it's here now and I love it. I actually popped in twice on Tues (after my sister in law had been about 5 times already saying I should go) - with lunch happening earlier on, followed by 2 hours of coffees while working and then later a big group of us hit it for drinks around 9pm. Main points are: The halloumi schnitzel sandwich really hit the spot! Very tasty and a random choice amongst all the meaty dishes but it was nice for a change. Great selection of German beers, I love craft beer but here you're forced to drink food German stuff and I like that! Great atmosphere throughout Very quiet booths in the back make it a great place to work in the day. Super friendly staff Inhouse bakery serving lovely bready goods - the sourdough I got to go was amazing and still serving us well! Great option if heading to a gig upstairs at the Albert Hall. Albert's Schoss - in their own words. Your friendly Bohemian Bier Palace! Schloss means a Bavarian palace or chateau. Bavaria is a region in the South of Germany and apparently where they consume the most beer on the planet. Another region Albert's Schloss is inspired by is Bohemia which is nearby region of Bavaria in the Czech Republic - where they know how to make a good beer! Albert's Schloss is a place you have to visit - if you live in Manchester, you have no excuse! Its only recently opened and its always busy. There is nothing else quite like this bar/restaurant/music place like it in Manchester. I have been a few times and there has always been some sort of live music on. And when not live music, there is a DJ (although of course will depend when you visit if there is live music/DJ). The music can be a bit random. One time it sounded like music that would be played at a Russian wedding - it got everyone dancing! The last time I went personally I wanted the live music to stop and get the DJ back - who was playing some classic 90s stuff (mixed with newer stuff and some older). It is one of those places which has tank beer - they have 4 x 900 point copper barrels/tanks. This is beer which has come straight from the brewery and is pumped into giant tanks. It tastes really good. Maybe next time I go to AS though, I will try something else other than the tank beer. I have also eaten the food here once which was pretty good. It's great to see something different in Manchester. Not that this German/Czech style of bar/pub is a particularly novel concept but it is for Manchester, where everything seems to skew towards USA influence. First off, the space is gorgeous. It's big but still cosy, beautifully decorated, with big long tables and booths to the side. There's a stage and from what I can tell they have bands on quite often. When we were there on a Tuesday it was band night, and others I've spoken to who've been on other nights say there was live music then too. I had two pints of the tank beer - Pilsner Urquell - which was delicious and took me back to my sojourn to Slovakia. Tank beer is the way forward. I really like proper Pilsner Urquell as well as it's so malty it's almost chewy. This sounds gross but I love it. They also sell Fritz Cola which my boyfriend and I fell in love with when we were on holiday in Berlin, so I bought two bottles of that to take home. I didn't get any food but someone at my table ordered the bratwurst which looked really tasty. The menu of beer snacks all looked pretty good and I can imagine ordering a few to share with friends over a few pints. I believe there's also a full food menu but I didn't see it. I hope they have dumplings. Prices were as expected for Manchester. £4-5 mark for pints and £6-9 mark for cocktails. I hope to return soon! read more

Utterly fabulous! I was lucky enough to be invited along for the press launch and they sure put on a show. Dancers in cocktail glasses, fancy dress actors, live music, DJs and canapés! Amazing building, done out really well with long tables, arms chairs, a log fire and push for prosecco buttons. The staff are really friendly and the range of drinks available is impressive. Reasonably prices...Delicious homemade schnapps too! The canapés we tasted were lovely but I can't wait to return to try the proper menu - apparently they have an in-house bakery! I already knew I was going to love this spot before I even arrived having heard so many great things from fellow Yelpers! About 15 of us headed down after an event nearby but there was so much space we had no problem getting in - not that it was quiet, it just has such a vast landscape of space! I opted for the safe bet and had their Pauliner Lager, first pint very nice, second pint even nicer - draw your own conclusions :) A couple of members of the group did get the food and it all looked and smelt fantastic - most of the options are traditional German snacks/dishes which is fantastic and offers something different to the other gastro bar/pub options in the city. What a fabulous new place to hit Manchester. I descended on Alberts Schloss on a late Friday afternoon and could have happily stayed there all night. The place is HUGE! and has a very Revs De Cuba feel to the outfit, but with a Bavarian twist. Long wooden tables encourage communal drinking with friends, reminiscent of the Munich beer houses that we are all familiar with. Centred in the middle of one square table an open fire - keep your mitts toasty whilst you snack on the authentic German fare. ALBERT SCHLOSS! ALBERT SCHLOSS! I feel like I need to shout this from the rooftops! 5 stars just isn't enough for this place! It is by far one of the best bar/restaurants I have visited in Manchester for a while and I couldn't speak more highly of the friendly staff, warm and welcoming vibe and mouthwatering food, and here's why... SO, I have visited here twice now - the first time just for a quick beverage which I enjoyed and really got a good feel for the atmosphere and bohemian bier palace vibe they're trying to get across. The place is HUGE but you can reserve a table/area with ease and the staff kindly greet you at the door and show you to your seats. The second time I visited was to eat and celebrate my families Christmas! Sure we were already in good spirits but this places definitely lifted them to new heights. We were quickly shown our table which was a nice booth at the back of the bar (slightly to big for a group of 5 but we made it work). The waitresses came over quickly and took our drinks order. My mother and I opted for a bottle of their dry rose. We also asked a few questions about the menu as we weren't familiar with the German terms and again the waitress was polite and answered all our questions with ease. We ordered our food and began to drink our wine. Usually I'm a sweet wine drinker but I really enjoyed their dry rose and would definitely recommend it! Now to the food...Yey! We started by sharing the meatballs, ham and cheese croquets and the tomato and basil flat bread (yes we were hungry). The meatballs you could tell are made fresh as they have that slight crumble to them and are mixed with a real hearty chorizo flavoured sauce. They literally melted in the mouth. Now I know what you're thinking - ham and cheese croquets... Well don't underestimate them. The cheese has a slightly sharp taste and mixed with the ham it's the perfect combo. As you cut into them the inside just poured our. Devine. The flatbread was also a winner - crisp, flavoursome and topping plentiful! I also had a spoonful of Alex's beer and onion soup which was just packed with flavour! A real rich, stew like textured treat. I'd only recommend this however if you're really hungry and it is ridiculously filling and rich - you could have it as main! Now to the mains (by this point we were getting full). I chose the beef house special. My gosh, was it good! The meat literally melted in your mouth and with the compliments of bacon lardons, potato rosti, and pickled cabbage in a red wine sauce it was a dish Albert Schloss should be truly proud of - a taste sensation! I also have my mums pork knuckle a try - SO GOOD! The pork just fell off the bone. We also ordered sides of sweet pot and normal chips which were thin, crispy and yummy. There was actually quite a delay with the chips and when they finally arrives the waitress couldn't apologise more informing us that the waitress had fallen and dropped them so they had to be done again! As an apology they wiped all the sides and the bottle of wine off the bill - what service?!?! As I said at the start I cannot speak highly enough about this German beauty in the heart of Manchester! I'm struggling to think of a newly opened bar or pub in Manchester that has made such a great and lasting impression as Albert's Schloss has. This colossal, and I mean colossal, Bavarian bier hall has seating for probably over 300 people, with room to spare for another 300. Its nicely divided up though, with spacious booths, formal dining area and also undulating, thick wooden bench seating which can easily accommodate larger groups. The sizeable bar in the centre of the space is overlooked by copper lighting rigs and piping from the four huge copper beer barrels weaves its way across the ceiling. Their tank beer is brought over from the Czech Republic every week and must be drunk in seven days (there's a board which shows the count down). Alongside their kitchen which produces dishes such as pork and beef meatballs, house ribs, and Bavarian soured beef (there are veggie options too), they have an in-house bakery making pretzels, cinnamon buns, sourdough loaves and waffles for you to buy and take away. The place is a visual spectacle, and city goers seem to have welcomed them with open, beer craving arms. It's a place to have fun in. Our group loved it here and we're already planning a return visit to sample the food, have more of the excellent aforementioned tank beer and maybe see a live show on their stage. If I could say a place stinks of me this would be it. We went for a quick bit of food last Friday night before a film but I could have stayed there all night! The selection of German lagers is to die for and I only got to sample three of them which means I'll have to go back and try the rest very soon! The food was fantastic, I ordered a cheese burger with added bacon. The burger was big and juicy and cooked to my order (medium). The chips were thin which aren't my favourite but due to the standard of the burger I wasn't that bothered. My mates ordered steaks which I was slightly envious of when they come as they also looked big and juicy, however in the end I was very happy with my choice! The atmosphere is very good and has a range of people in from 18-60 I'd say. There was a live singer on while we were there who entertained and could sing a bit also! If I had to sum up opening night at Albert's Schloss in one word it would be opulence. The place had a lot of character. The decor looked very much like a ski chalet or chateau, or whatever the German equivalent is... Oh wait, that's what schloss means. They had a wood burner on one of the tables. There was a brass band belting out some numbers that I would not have otherwise liked. They had waitresses walking around with platters of nibbles. They also had dancers dancing in gigantic wine glasses and other forms of entertainment. The menu had a good range of beers and cocktails. I got a lynchburg lemonade first and then I went for a rose mezcal margarita. Whilst the lemonade felt well made, the margarita felt like barbecue sauce thanks to the mezcal and I didn't get any hint of the rose. It was a pleasant surprise and on the balance of probabilities I would say I enjoyed the evening. However a real test of the place will be how it performs once all the hype dies down. read more

The buzz around Albert's Schloss has been going on for a short while now and, I must admit, I can see what all the fuss is about. The large beer hall type decor is fairly unique to Manchester - the high ceilings and notable open fire pit both catch your eye immediately, and the wrap around central bar makes for quite the focal point. We've visited on two occasions recently; once for a post-work pint on a Wednesday, and the other for dinner during their January 50% off after the cinema on a Sunday. With this, it's worth noting we haven't experienced a 'weekend' here - which I hear can be very cabaret and disco fuelled, which isn't to everyone's taste. Our Wednesday night pint experience was a good introduction, giving us a feel for the place and a moment to explore the options on the bar. With no 'traditional' draught cider (you will find Rekorderlig on tap, however) I was drinking Fruli, which comes in 2/3 pints. The service was friendly and, despite sitting where many would consider as behind the bar, quick and attentive. The only negative we found on this visit was the never ceasing disco ball... Cue our return on the following Sunday to take advantage of the 50% off your food bill offer by booking online. Our table was quite ready when we arrived but had been cleared by the time we got our drinks at the bar. The menu is well set out, with starters/small plates/mains/sides/desserts and some bar snacks available. Luckily, the tables either side of us were just receiving their food, so we could gauge the size of each dish... Eventually, we decided on: chicken schnitzel, Schloss fries, bratwurst (the starter portion), padron peppers, and cheese & ham croquetas. They were more than happy to bring everything at once, so we could properly feast! The bratwurst was the highlight, especially when combined with the cabbage served alongside. The schnitzel was also tasty and went well with the red pepper dip from the plate of padron peppers. Unfortunately the Schloss fries weren't to our taste and too overpowered by either parmesan or truffle oil, we weren't quite sure. As there was no mad rush to leave, we decided to share something from 'the pudding club' aswell. The brioche doughnuts - individually filled with chocolate, raspberry and custard - were very tasty and rolled in cinnamon sugar, giving them an almost churro-like coating. Paired with the vanilla ice cream they were delicious. Service was distant to begin with and our waitress felt quite distracted. However, she perked up by the end of the meal, and was nice enough to offer us some pastries to take away - as they are baked fresh each day, they want to minimise the amount of food they throw away. Nice touch. No doubt Albert's Schloss will become a regular haunt for us due to location, especially with favourite Brewdog just next door. I don't think I'm brave enough to face a Friday or Saturday night here just yet, though. read more

They offer a reasonable selection of German beers, my personal favourite being the Paulaner. Most drinks are in the £5 region, so this would be an expensive place to spend an entire evening. Back again as a group of four this time. Easter Sunday afternoon. Started with a few beers at the bar, and the place started to get more and more filled. We retired to a booth over the far side of the bar, by this time feeling a bit peckish. We ordered 2 cheese burgers and 2 halloumi burgers. Plus a couple of fries. There was not a single complaint about the food in our group. The halloumi burger being the best one of group had ever had. I had a cheeseburger. These featured a large, juciy patty, on a brioche bun with a burger sauce. Cooked slightly pink, the meat was perfect. Whilst we sat the resident band started playing, who were also excellent. The service the whole time, and especially whilst at the booth was also excellent. Albert Schloss is a must visit whilst in Manchester. It's not firmly on my list of favourites. read more

What a beautifully fitted bar?! It's so cosy and laid back yet stylish! It's the perfect venue for a date or a large party as there were plenty of tables and it seems like it's possible to book them! We didn't get to eat here as we didn't book and were too hungry to wait but we did manage a beer! Some confusing issues though: From someone who has lived in Cologne for a year, I can't understand why someone would stock a Kölsch (local Cologne beer usually served in 200 ml servings at a time cos they go flat very quickly and taste like water)! We popped along for the opening night celebrations at Alberts Schloss and weren't disappointed. The venue itself is styled as a kind of apres ski lodge with a wood burning fire in the middle of the room and a wide selection of international beers. We were treated to a a selection of nibbles from their menu - the crumbles porcini mushrooms with garlic dip being a favourite. Full on brass band doing covers of backstreet boys and Christina aguilera was also a highlight. Felt like I was the only person yet to experience Albert Schloss until I finally went on Wednesday evening. So I heard lots of positive hype beforehand... therefore it had a lot to live up to. The good news is that it did just that, so no disappointment here! Firstly - interior is spot on. You've got a bit of minimal scandi style lighting and decor (always one to notice little things like that), yet it has a cosy feel with the fire place in the middle of the seating area upon entering. Huge bar area, and a sophisticated DJ booth hidden right towards the back and on a platform so the DJ is above the whole bar. Not sure if that's so he doesn't get bombarded with requests, as it's pretty impossible to get up there! I went on a Wednesday evening and it was incredibly busy, but still tables available and the place just had a really nice vibe. I was driving so ordered a diet coke, which came in a HUGE beer mug. Made me want to experience the many versions of beer on offer. Maybe next time. I feel I can't review it for what it's popular for - its extensive selection of beers from around the world (and German beers of course)- because I couldn't drink. But I did check out the beers, wines and cocktails menu and saw some fantastic options. I really need to come back here and experience some of the 'fancier' drinks. I also spotted an Espresso Martini on the menu. WInner! 5 of us came here to eat, and I was stuck for whether to chose the pork shoulder, halloumi burger or chicken schnitzel. I ended up going for the chicken, and it was absolutely huge! Biggest breaded chicken I have ever seen. They used to do them this big in Australia, and since coming back to the UK I've been merely disappointed. Now I know where to go for my huge chicken schnitzel fix. It was also coated in rosemary and herbs which gave it a really nice touch. My food was delicious, and everyone in my party pretty much said the same. One of them had a beef dish and the decoration of the meal was perfect! The best bit (easily pleased) was the side orders - the yummiest cheesy baked mash, truffle fries with lashings of sprinkled cheese, sweet potato chips and steamed broccoli. We ordered all 4 and shared between us, which was a great side to all our meals. I was greedy this particular night and went for caramel bananas with waffles and pecan nuts for dessert. Amazing dessert - sickly sweet but what else would you expect from this dish. My friend got some donut dish filled with cream, strawberries and chocolate, which were also divine. Reasonable prices, great atmosphere, so much drinks choice and a great interior. Only reason I haven't gave it 5 stars is because I couldn't experience the drinks, and it was a little too busy for a chilled Wednesday. But i'll be returning! read more

On a recent visit to Manchester one of our first stops was Albert Schloss, as soon as the doors swung open I was in my element. Beer, beer and more beer! We visited a few weeks before Christmas and this place had a real festive feel, in fact it would actually put you in mind of a Christmas Market beer tent, without actually being a tent obviously! There's was group of ten of us and we managed (may have been booked) nab a long table right in the middle of the seating area. The staff were great considering how busy it was, as soon as we were seated and settled they were over taking drinks orders. The beer selection was fantastic and I sampled 2 different types, both equally nice. I loved the look and feel of Albert Schloss, the wooden interior is complimented by the cooper piping creating a real industrial vibe - probably a throwback to Manchester's bygone days - orrrr I could be reading way too much in to it?! They served food but we didn't have any and they and a large stage but when we visited it was vacant. If you're visiting Manc make this part of your itinerary, a must for beer fans! read more

If I was a Manchester local then I would most definitely be a regular at this place. Anywhere that has a load of great beer and plays full on disco has to get a five star review from me. The bar itself is really modern and clean with bright lighting and loads of large wooden tables. I think the bar has only been open a little while so everything is still immaculately presented. I especially liked the press for prosecco buttons dotted around the place....they may be the best buttons I have ever seen....well I can't think of any I liked more recently anyway! The tunes during our entire visit were what I would describe as 'very me'. Very disco changing to a bit of light hip hop just before we left. Apparently there is a live music venue upstairs here which I need to come back and try out asap. If I could pick this place up and magically transport it back to Birmingham I would. Prosecco. ON TAP. Like, there's a button and you press it and they bring it to you. Whut?! Do I really need to go into more detail? OK, I will. I love the grandiose hall, I love that there are loads of beers, and I love the prosecco button. The lighting is rather pretty. Basically, I wish I was back there right now, having fizzy good brought to me by their happy staff at my whim. I almost want tot say it feels a bit Game Of Thrones, but that's partly because I've been watching it all over again and partly because we sat at a huge, long, wooden table. When it's full, it's definitely a bit noisy, but that's all part of the vibe. Full disclosure: don't have much more to add bar the prosecco on tap. It's genius. read more

We always have a great time here. There is a great selection of cocktails and beers and the entertainment is phenomenal. We've never eaten here (apart from free late night pizza) but the food looks and smells amazing. It's hard to get in so I'd suggest getting there early! read more

I love it! I love it so much! Why have I not visited before. Such a fool! Not only does it have a selection of the best German beers, from Paulaner Helles, Weißbier, Löwenbrau, Spartan, Hofbrau - and more! Albert's Schloss has the best selection of traditional German food: Hendl (half chicken), Wurst (sausage), Kartoffelsalat (potato salad), etc. I visited during the start of the Oktoberfest celebrations, and I have been to the original Oktoberfest, or as we say in München "die Wiesn", and it is celebrating its 183rd Wiesn this year. It was great fun, and really brings the full spirit of Oktoberfest to Manchester. I knew what food I was going to order before I arrived, and even dreamt about it: roasted half chicken smothered in paprika and a potato salad. The chicken was superb, succulent and falling of the bone. I was expecting more bone than chicken, but it was mostly all chicken - excellent! It was delicious. I wasn't a fan of the potato salad as I've had better, so unfortunately, I was disappointed, but who cares, the chicken was amazing! I didn't eat dessert, but my friends did, and it looked delicious! The interior of Albert's Schloss looks great - so much open space with a real rustic wooden and brass look. Fantastic! I will be back soon. read more

An updated review guys, this place is uber cool, the beer great, apparently the food is amazing....but can I get back in to try it again?! Nope. Twice, on a Friday and a Saturday night me and +1 have been turned away from here by The over Zealous Door security staff. Reasons? Because they don't allow groups in and because we where 2 guys, they couldn't be sure we weren't meeting larger group once inside. I have never heard such ridiculous comments in my life. Both times I wanted to show people how good it was in Alberts, both times this didn't happen. Keep this up and it will become a singles bar.... read more

Gorgeous bar, drinks aren't too pricey, very cool photo booth....not sure if it may be slightly too big however, I've been twice now and both times I've had an enjoyable evening! Interested to try the bakery during the day, that's next on my list! read more

Such a great environment. I could spend all day and night here! Really really enjoyed the live music. So charming. There was also a lot of dancing on tables which was totally delightful although not sure it's strictly allowed, but from what I hear there seems to be a lot of it! This place on a weekend is completely bonkers, I've been a several times now and never been disappointed. The beer range is decent, though a little pricey, but when you throw in the entertainment on Friday and Saturday it's well worth getting on one of the benches and watch the madness unfold in front of you with all the actors, dancers, entertainers and band!! I have eaten here twice and the food has been lovely I've had the pork knuckle and the chicken escalope, both were delicious and worth the price I paid. I would say that Schloss is our go to place now when out with friends as it really is great, it can sometimes get a little busy but it's to be expected as it's so good. You mustn't forget the free photo booth downstairs with all the fancy dress!! read more
