Well...this was the last time we will dine at Wings Etc. in Crystal Lake! Went in last night. We sat down at 7:25 pm and received our drinks quickly; however, our waitress never returned to take our order...had to ask the bartender to find someone to help us at 7:55 pm, which another waitress did come over and helped at 7:58 pm. Our original waitress decided she should check in on us at 8:03 pm...really?!?!? Unacceptable service! Order finally came in parts, not at once as we asked...when my wings finally came, the order was wrong so then had to wait for the new order. Also, because of the COVID restrictions still in place, we had to wait for a table by the bar, which was fine; however, about 10 people came in and sat down at the bar...we had to wait, why?! I am not sure if they have had a lot of turnover but this location really needs to get a handle on their service. All I can say is wow!!!! After the last two terrible times at BWW I read the reviews and they were right. Service from Dana was great..she knew her stuff and recomened the perfect flovors of wings. She took her time and was very friendly. I will tell all I know about this place and now me and my girlfriend will be regulars. Despite some other reviews we had good service. Our waiter was attentive and came back in a timely fashion. The extreme nacho appetizer was Delicious and huge. Enough to share with 5 people. The wings were good and so was the buffalo wrap. Large selection of sauces to choose from. I would definitely come back. read more

"These are Wings" first of all the wings are huge compared to other locations like BWW. In a sense the wings are like on steroids... The sauces to the wings are also very good. I would recommend the TNT sauce if you want them a bit saucy. Now i know it sounds stupid but i also pay close attention how the water taste like when you order ice water, and let me tell you its way better than some fancy restaurants, no slice of lemon for me this time to take away the bleachy taste of the water. Not only do they serve wings but wraps, salads and burgers. They also have really cheap deals of beer during the week. The only reason they are getting 3 stars and not 2 is the wings were really good. We had a take out order, I got the 10 piece spicy barbecue wing they were really good. We ordered the Ultimate revenge nachos, it was chips, cubes of chicken and lettuce and that's it. No cheese or any kind of sauce, it was terrible. My daughter got a loaded cowboy burger she said it was just ok. We got the fried shrimp they were as good as any thing you get at a Caption Ds. They didn't give us very many fries with our order and they were soggy. read more

I love wings and this place has the best ones in the area. I have tried many of their sauces and the Wall is certainly good and hot (and it still has flavor)! I haven't tried to get my pic on the wall because that is a lot of food to eat (I think it's 16 wings)! The cajun fried are awesome. My wife always gets the nachos and the portion is HUGE! The wings are plump and amazing, the service is exemplary, the place is comfortable, and the menu is varied enough that even a discerning diet can find something to eat. honestly this place is just 10/10. i love their food, it's sooooo good. they have a little wait on some days but i enjoy their burgers and stuff and have a variety of things on their menu. they also have sports playing and it's really entertaining. a good place do hang out and drink while having fun or for a casual hang out. read more

I just went to this joint on a recommendation from a few people. I was actually looking forward to it. I sat at the bar and the bartender was kind and took my order. I ordered the rib and wing combo with a plate of chilli. The chilli came and she told me that the food is going to take time because they were cleaning up the grill , so I waited. The food finally came and I started on the wings, the wings were good , then I continued on the ribs only to find that they were really undercooked. I was disappointed and asked for the bill. Now to the bartenders credit she did say she would fix the bill because of the under cooked ribs but fortunately I'm not a freeloader so I told her to charge me for the meal. I'm keeping the receipt so when someone else mentions this place I can tell them my experience . I'm not from Crystal Lake and I specifically went to this place to give it a shot unfortunately it was disappointing. I won't be going back. read more

These are some of the best wings I've had in the area. They are so fresh and crispy with some really great sauce choices. I do think this restaurant's prices are a little high for what it is - a sports bar with wings. It feels kind of wrong to spend more than $10 per person on wings with no drink included. That doesn't seem to keep me from going there when I have a serious wing craving though. It's really not a kid friendly place, FYI. I had a pregnant lady wing craving on a random Thursday at 11am, so I took my 2 year old son there with me. I felt like we didn't belong. They don't offer any coloring or similar activities to occupy kids like most restaurants in the area do. Since it's not really the bar-scene on the middle of a weekday, maybe they could encourage more business by offering such things for kids? Just a thought. read more

I'm very happy with this wing shack!! Almost every time Ive eaten here I have left satisfied. Most everything seems fresh cooked and they always have a drink special. Haven't been here in a while, don't remember it being this bad, but you won't see me there again unless some major changes take place. Had a simple buffalo chicken sandwich with curly fries. The sauce was good, I went with TNT, but the breaded chicken beast was terrible. At least a 2 to 1 ratio of breading to meat, ie, almost no chicken, way over cooked, darkness of breading makes me wonder how old the oil was. The curly "fries" were not edible. I don't know how they did it, but it was like eating only the outside of an over cooked fry in that same oil, I really don't think there was any potato in the curly forms of nasty fried grease. My wife and I have been here several times. Each time it's gotten worse and worse. Tonight was that straw that broke the camels back. Poor service, we waited a long time to place our dinner order. When our boneless wings came, they were over cooked (too crunchy) and dry. Then we saw people sitting at the bar, go behind it and tap their own beers. Every time I've eaten here it's been less than impressive. But one time I came in, sat down at a table and waited 30 minutes. Never saw a server or even a worker other than the bartender. There was only one other table with guests, but still, the server could have checked on the dining room at least once in that time. Every time I visit my girlfriend in Crystal Lake we stop in to Wings Etc. for a beer and some hot wings. The place is ultra casual and super laid back and has some really good beer and wing specials. The first issue we had with this restaurant this evening was the lady who took the payment at the bar had an attitude. I ordered 50 wings today and I must say, everything was gross. My very first visit to this place I was verbally assaulted by the supposed "manager" Stephanie. I sat down and ordered a drink. My waitress asked to take my license which I thought was weird but I said ok. She then comes back and tells me that my friend and I need to leave and she cannot serve me. I was shocked but then looked over to see the manager coming at me like a raging buffalo. She had some sort of personal beef with me and in front of the entire dining area started screaming at me and calling me names. Tried to call the police on me for being there..mind you...literally just being there. Backstory...I am her fiance's ex gf. So, I guess at Wings Etc the staff is allowed to be incredibly unprofessional if they don't like someone. Last I checked, we can eat anywhere we want. Not at Wings. Later, I received an email BANNING me from the restaurant by the owner's daughter. Now again, all I did was walk in and sit down to order a beer. Everyone, look out for Stephanie the manager. Girl is INSANE. Since then, I've ignored the comical ban and have been back numerous times. The food is ok...nothing to get excited about. My fiance likes the wings when he's out of options. Service is CRAP. All the servers have the same vapid look on their face. And the shots they put on special are really, REALLY gross. Go to B-dubs or Wings N Rings....don't waste your time. If I didn't enjoy their curly fries so much I probably wouldn't come back. Ordered $50 worth of food. 25 rib tips 15 wings some fries. Apparently when you order 25 you don't get 25 . Whatever I didn't want to start any trouble because I had already waited over an hour for my food which I watched sit bagged in the kitchen area as we sat at the bar. Another thing that really grinds my gears is the bartender had no problem attending to her regulars but it takes her 10 minutes just to hand me a food menu. I ordered a shot on top of it and she was serving everyone around me left and right but couldn't serve my shot? Even fresh people that came in got attended to before me. The last thing is she had the audacity to blame the wait on the kitchen staff. Said they were in her words " wonky". I have been coming here with my family and friends since high school. First of all, I love the atmosphere and decor. The wooden paneled wall definitely has an "authentic, woodsy vibe." The wings are beyond comparison! Their boneless wings are very juicy and flavor-absorbent. Also, the curly fries have very unique and delicious seasoning. The price of their lunch specials are impossible to beat, especially when considering the large portion sizes. Been eating there since they opened (not by choice) some friends of mind like it there. Wings are ok, if you like fried naked chicken with sauce poured over it, which my wife does. I usually get the boneless wings which is like chicken nuggets with sauce poured all over them, but not tossed. I made the Huge mistake of ordering the ribs well if you think the wings are bad Do Not order the ribs. They are baked ribs with the sauce poured over them after they are completely done cooking, THEY SUCKED!!! Good place to watch sports. But the wings are too overpriced. While they are juicy and crispy, the sauces we tried were not the best, and they were very small.
