the front of a restaurant

This was a very mall Mexican restaurant that was attached to a gas station near Mt Airy. The name of the restaurant is actually Mexican Grill Wings And Things according to their sign. They had a rather small menu of very simple Mexican dishes as well as some wings. I tried the wings and my wife and daughter tried a bowl and queso respectively. The chicken was good quality and a very good size with lots of meat on those bones. Unfortunately zero effort was put into the sauce. I got what on the menu was Buffalo Hot but all they seemed to do was shake some bottled hot sauce on there (tasted like Texas Pete I think) and served it. Now I like Texas Pete well enough but when you call your restaurant "Wings And Things" I expect a lot more effort to your wing sauce than shaking a bottle on it. I was disappointed especially considering how good the chicken itself was. The queso was not too great either kinda like it was out of a jar too. My wife said her bowl was very bland and lacked much flavour at all. The restaurant looked okayish and the service was ok (it was counter service here). I wanted this place to be good because I want small businesses to succeed but not one facet of my meal was even average so there's nothing for me to put over here. Recommendation to avoid this one.

If you don't know what a Philly is, please take it off the menu. This was disgusting.

The Pickled Pig - Best BLT I have had in years!

I randomly found The Pickled Pig on Yelp, and honestly, it felt like striking gold…read more I ordered the smoked turkey sandwich, their version of a turkey Reuben, and it was ridiculously good. Most places default to coleslaw, but these guys went with kraut, because fermented foods are clearly their thing, and I'm so glad they did. That kraut was next-level. Tangy, flavorful, and piled on just right. I might have loved it even more than the turkey, which is wild to say because the smoked turkey itself was juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. The pickle boat was also fantastic. Crisp, bright, and full of that homemade, small-batch goodness. You can tell they care about what they're putting on the plate. As much as I loved the food, the service really stood out. The gentleman at the register was kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. He even used my name when he checked back to see how my food was, which is such a simple touch but made a big impression. The only suggestion I'd offer is to update the website pricing to match what's currently being charged in the store. The difference was noticeable, and keeping that consistent would make the experience even smoother. Bottom line: a fantastic, unexpected find with amazing food and standout service. I will absolutely be back.

We came on a Saturday afternoon in between lunch & dinner (hoping to beat any rush) It's definitely busy but we lucked out. We ordered the pickle boat, tuna melt and smoked turkey to share. Hands down our favorite was the tuna melt. I've never had such dilly, Smokey tuna goodness on crispy rye bread. It's alittle pricey... but we get it small business. Lunch came to $59 We left fulfilled

Came here for their Sunday brunch and it did not disappoint! Brunch doesn't start until 11am on Sunday and we arrived around 1140 and got a table for 2 without any wait! The hostess and our waitress were friendly and attentive. Started with a stacked Bloody Mary which had a slider, bacon, and a chicken wing! The bloody itself was tasty, though I prefer mine to be a little spicier. We got the Hawt Mess and Breakfast Poutine and both were delicious. The over easy egg on the poutine was perfectly cooked and the smashed potatoes in the Hawt Mess were crispy and flavorful. We will absolutely be back to try the rest of the brunch menu!

Went back of 4/17 and met the man behind my delicious creation. Tavis Rockwell! Wonderful, interactive man with a touch of sass to go with the class behind his food creations. Tavis offered us tastes of various creations and nothing disappointed. The Italian Beef is insanely good. I was afraid of the possible heat due to the peppers, but it was just enough to many you want and be able to eat more. Greens? I was leery when I was told there is vinegar in them. SOLD!! They were fantastic. Tavis makes a homemade goetta that would make my German ancestors proud. We then learned that Saturday is breakfast all day. He had us at biscuits and gravy. (You can get lunch and dinner items as well, but WHY?). We came back the next morning and split an order that was just enough for two. When you go, make sure to tell Tavis you will pay for the water, but you hear the food is free!!
