I've had this on my list to try for quite some time. I enjoyed every bite of my Jamaican jerk wings. One of the better jerk sauces I've had in a while. Next time I'd ask if they can do all flats. You can also pick the heat level to your flavors & They have some really unique flavor options. My husband got the pork chops & really liked them. We shared the sides & we both agreed The greens were really good, Mac & cheese was pretty good & the baked beans were just basic to us. We prefer ours more bbq style though. Now, let me say.. We went during a very busy time & they had a big birthday party seated & eating. The service was held back bc of that. We were patient & still really enjoyed our food when it came. They have a nice patio area & a few places to eat outside. We liked the open ceilings they had inside & the overall vibe. Plus the music was 10/10. Glad we went. :)
4-stars for their great customer service. We walked in and ordered 10-pcs HotLanta Peach and 10-pcs Lemon Pepper Hot to go. It didn't take that long for it to be ready. The wings were cooked right, they don't fry their wings but smoke them. The HotLanta Peach was good and smoky just like how I like 'em, but the Lemon Pepper Hot left us wondering if they gave us the wrong order - definitely not the Lemon Pepper wings that we are used to. Only after nibbling on the third wing, we could eventually detect the hint of barely-there lemon pepper; the hot sauce definitely overpowered everything else. One thing to note is when contacted, they were very quick to remedy the situation. They have a lot of seatings both indoor and outside (covered). Definitely a good place to hang out at. We also got a pint of the Creamalicious ice cream, they only had 3 flavors available at the time of our visit. The Caramel Pound Cake flavor that we got was incredibly sugary sweet for us but I know this one is not on them. Overall, if you're craving for wings, this will hit the spot.
This place rules! In town for work and was looking around for places near the hotel and stumbled upon this gem. The Service was a 10/10, we got a full rundown of the menu and our drinks never went empty. The wings were unreal, top 5 wing i've ever had. The cornbread was amazing too, definitely check this place out if you're in and around Cincy!
Five of us had dinner here tonight. I had the catfish, the others had talopia, pork chop and wings. Our sides were collard greens, mac and cheese and bake beans. The meals came out rather quickly and everything was hot. Everyone was more than pleased with their meal. The only draw back was the noise. It was hard to hear the person on the other side of the table. Our waitress was excellent. She was always there waiting on us with a polite smile and a nice personality. I hope to go back soon.
I wanted to give this place a chance, because of how "great the food "reviews but once again I'm experiencing another black owned restaurant with poor systems. it is 7:30 I drove 45 mins after the restaurant refused to pick up the phone 5 times for me to walk in and the staff tells me the kitchen is closed. literally there must be 5 people sitting down in this restaurant and the staff looks stressed and disheveled. If the restaurant closes at 9pm why would the kitchen be closed at 7:30. wish I couldve rated the food but I'm sure I can find a business that is better prepared and appreciates it's customers. if you would've picked up the phone I could've saved a trip.
What an amazing hidden treasure this restaurant is!! From the name, you would expect a fast-food sports bar. Instead you find a homey, stylish, friendly restaurant that presents scratch-made Southern and Soul food! To start with, I loved the decor. It had a rustic touch, but was also stylish. I loved the waiting room, which was outfitted more like a comfortable hang-out lounge. And the woman who readied my order gave me an attentive respect I appreciated, as if I were her only customer. (And I witnessed her giving each and every customer that same respect, which I appreciated even more -- this is how they do things here). I ordered fried green tomatoes that were absolutely perfect -- thin, well-coated, and crisp. But it was the home-made honey mustard dip that accompanied them that really blew me away! The yams were excellent -- as per my past experiences with this dish in other restaurants, they weren't mushy or overly sweet. Instead, you would tell they were freshly made, seasoned perfectly, and had an interesting unusual kick (maybe cloves?) that made them special. The cornbread was fluffy and tasty, and the collard greens were good, though could have been spicier. The catfish was cooked perfectly. I did think it was over-salted, but it worked well once you dipped it in the provided tartar sauce. Overall, an amazing gem of a place I will visit again soon (as it's wonderful, and located on my way home from work).
This place is the real deal. I've had wings from all over, including the top spots in Buffalo, NY. These are right up there with some of the best I've had. Smoked and fried to perfection. Wings came out hot and crispy with plenty of sauce. A lot of sauce choices too. If you enjoy heat, make sure to level up the sauce. Spice was a bit mild for my liking, but will make the adjustment next visit. Newish interior, clean, plenty of TVs, no complaints. My new go to wing spot when I'm in the area, will definitely be back.
Yes Lord, great people great service. Especially on DJ nite / karaoke . Just go and try it
These people lied on me. They responded to my review in google saying that I was spreading fraudulent info about their business. I have a 4 star review saying the food was delicious but expensive. I paid $10 for a small cup of green beans and that is a FACT. I paid $7 for a small piece of cornbread, this is a FACT. I have a receipt proving this information yet the Wing Champ owner responded to my Google review saying I lied about prices!!!!! What is going on?! If you go to the Door Dash App and look up Wing Champ's prices you can see for yourself!
Where do we even begin! Last night in an effort to continue our support of black owned businesses, We learned about Wing Champ, a relatively new restaurant in the city. I had never even heard of it before yesterday. I saw the reviews on here and directly made our way to the restaurant. When you first pull up you might think to yourself "Is it worth it?" "Is it going to be good?" "Should we go someplace else?" But we decided to give it a try and thank God we did! The interior is so nice and clean. Due to COVID-19, we could seat ourselves indoors or outside and they had paper menus & utensils. Everyone wore a mask! They also do carry out. We ordered a Blue MF because I'd never heard of it before...think a Long Island but Blue. My Lord! So much liquor but so very worth it and only needed one. Now let's get to the food. Baby listen! The wings (BBQ & HotLanta Peach), the mac, the greens, the potato salad, cornbread all were BOMB.COM! So good. BUT THOSE YAMMMS?! Jesus was back there cooking them up. Every bite made me shout! The service is impeccable. Which is a breath of fresh air because sometimes our own can be rough. But Vince and his team were epic. They must've made an extra batch of yams because he brought more over...not even knowing yet how much I loved them. Legit made me cry!! He and other team members continuously checked on us to make sure we were good. The dessert...which is the entire point of the meal, was the perfect ending to our night. Had to take it to-go because we were so stuffed. We got Brown Sugar Bourbon cake and Strawberry Crunch Cake. Seriously looking forward to these leftovers! And I will certainly be back because that fried catfish looked delicious.
Very nice place. Clean and they sanitize between settings. My husband had the wing's with honey bourbon sauce. Very good. Meaty wings . I had the pulled pork brisket sandwich with house sauce. Everything was smoked nicely. Good portions without being over the top messy. Just enough fries to satisfy. Cold slaw looked ordinary but was pleasantly surprised! I could taste the vinegar! Yummy. All in all good food fair price. 35.00 for 2 meals. Not including tip. They offer Avery nice menu. Only draw back. My sandwich could have had more sauce. I probably could have asked for more.
I found this place on a whim one day while driving around with my wife. I pulled up the great Yelp reviews and saw what appeared to be very southern inspired dishes. I have now been here twice in a two weeks because their food was simply amazing and brought me and family back to our southern roots. First of all, the wings may be the best I've had anywhere, anyplace or at anytime. They smoke their wings to infuse the extra flavor and the wings are not dry and perfectly accented by their variety of original wet and dry rub combinations. I would recommend the Brown Sugar Bourbon and/or the Georgia Peach. You know the wings are good when they don't bother bringing out ranch or blue cheese because the flavor is already perfect. The other items are their sides which are served in bowls like you would find at a traditional meat and three style restaurant. We tried the Mac & Cheese, Potatoes/Onions, Collard Greens and Coleslaw. All were perfectly seasoned and the best I've had anywhere around Cincinnati. The last item I would recommend is the sweet potato muffin, served warm with melted butter, you can't go wrong. Don't let the location or the outside fool you, this place is almost perfection in my mind, highly recommended!
Oh sweet baby Jesus where do I start.... These wings are SO good, more than good they're great. Easily the best I think I will ever have and I can't wait to come back to try all the other flavors they offer! I had the brown sugar bourbon wings (very sticky so come prepped with a wet nap) + baked Mac and cheese and I wanted to savor every last bite. The wings so crispy and sweet just how I like them + the Mac was perfectly baked so it had that nice crispy cheese on top For dessert I treated myself to a slice of the brown sugar bourbon cake to keep it consistent and the frosting was so light yet sweet and creamy it was DIVINE. They had lots of other desserts to choose from too so there's something for everyone. Can't wait to return
Best wings in the Cincinnati area! Highly recommend the brown sugar & bourbon dry rub! I also recommend you take a bunch of people with you to share a little bit of everything that's on the menu. You won't be disappointed eating here. There's a lot of love & happiness in the homemade food served here. We were a small party of five and appreciated the hospitality shown to us. Our drinks were always filled. The food came out in a timely manner and was prepared to order. Our server was very helpful and friendly. Loved the wings! Perfectly seasoned and cooked. They also reheated well the next day. Will definitely eat here again! Worth the drive from the Akron area. read more
You gotta try this spot. Top three personally for wings. Every time I am on a trip, I look for wings. This place did not disappoint. I loved the cabin feel this wing restaurant offered. Made me feel like I was in Yosemite or Big Bear. It even had that mountain / woodsy smell. The staff were very friendly and soulful. I was served by Sandman. Very chill dude. Made me feel like family. He broke down the menu for me and shared with me how the wings are prepared along with some of their signature sauces. He was very knowledgeable and really cared about providing a good service. I ordered 15 wings and the flavors I chose were Henny Glaze / Brown Sugar Bourbon / & Savory Swank. Along with a sweet potato muffin. Hard to choose which flavor was the best man. They were all so good!!!! Sandman told me that the Sweet Potato Muffin would make me cry on the inside. He was right. I loved it here. Hope they get really successful and open one up in Cali. Big shout out to Sandman. He made the experience worthwhile. He has a good taste in music. Played a lot of soulful hits. Wish I took a picture with him. He also shared there's Karaoke every Friday. 7 to 10 pm. read more

Okay so my good sis Sam (shout out to her) took me here to try the food. And baaabbyyyyy: Venue: Pulled up skrrrrttt ample parking. We came on a weekday night (can't remember) and there was enough parking. It's a cute space. A little stage for karaoke. A bar and enough seating. Could definitely go there with the family, just to kick it or on a date (if they ain't bougie but still). It has this country feel in there but very diverse. And the music like they were playing allll the jams from the 80s... like I had to stop dancing and singing to remember I had food. The vibe was toooo right. Food: Okay so growing up (don't judge me) people hated me eating chicken.....I just eat the skin. Like I said did you come for a review or to judge lol. But their chicken is amazing so I ate the whole thing. (to all those chicken eating haters look at me now). Smoked and flavorful. I also had the fish, I mean even the little mermaid would have eating a plate. I would say the black eye peas was too salty for me... but that's me. It still was good with the fish ya dig. But I just want a moment of silence for the got darn SWEET POTATO PIE. Like this is the pie we eating when we get to heaven. The pie omgggggg. I'm mad thinking about it like darn I wish I could get some now. That pie would make Michael Jordan come out retirement. It's good. Flaky crust and like Campbell's soup said just mmm mmm good. If yall go pick me up a pie a drop it off... Thanks in advance. Price: Yessss you don't have to be Beyonce or Taylor Swift to eat here baby. You eat great without over paying. You know we in a Perpendicular currently....(if you didn't get that I was referring to the pandemic) so money tight or whatever so you're good here. Service: Vince Vince Vince. I mean the way this man served us I need him at my house doing the same. Made sure he got our food. Was funny, professional, and took very great care of us while dining in. Like he needs to teach a class on customer service cause man oh man. And he's good looking for his age....I won't tell though.. wink.. Thank you Vince! Welp all in all of course I've been back since my sugar mama Sam took me there but by all means if you don't have any sugar anything still go!! read more

So I had to rate them again. This time the service was spot on. I called and ordered again. What a conversation and the gentleman who spoke to me the wings you suggested hit the spot. If you are looking for huge wings, the biggest I have ever had you need to get you some. I had a few things but the wings and the sweet potato pie was crazy good. read more

We visited here a couple of weeks ago. The restaurant was very chilly inside, but it seems like they're still getting everything in place. The wing flavors were unique and had a lot of options I've never seen. They have a good variety of sauces and dry rubs. The wings were a little dry, but the sauces and rubs were very good. The collard greens were great and the fries OK. I'll try Wing Champ again if I'm in the area. read more

Once upon a time there was a soul food restaurant in Hamilton called Mahogany's. Their food was so good it was beyond words & just had to be experienced. Which I did... many times. Each time I wondered why no one else was able to make these dishes taste like as good as this. I brought many different friends at various times, & they agreed with my assessment. One day, years ago, Mahogany's opened a new swanky location at The Banks. Sadly, this meant closing their Hamilton location. Even more sadly, they never quite had the complete menu that they once did. Eventually, after some trouble with Hamilton County or something, that location closed & Mahogany's was no more. I think I actually mourned the loss of never being able to have that food again. Fast forward to 2020: we just sat through a pandemic & shelter-in-home, & followed it with a cry for justice & equality for all, because black lives DO matter. In this time, a lot of talk began about supporting black-owned businesses & I began to reminisce fondly about the best black-owned restaurant I had ever experienced, Mahogany's. This lead me to search for its owner, Liz Rogers, & see what see was up to these days, if anything. It was then that I learned about Original Wing Champ & after glancing even at the current soft-opening menu, it was like a prayer had been answered. Today I took my wife with me to Wing Champ, telling her tales of great meals I had had previously at Mahogany's & hoping beyond hope that this would even come CLOSE to that. I am so happy to report that it indeed did. The transcendent food that I once knew & thought lost was back once again! I had the tilapia fish dinner with the baked mac & cheese, yams, & corn bread. It was like visiting an old friend. The fish is breaded & fried just right & perfect with some hot sauce & tartar sauce. Each fillet was smaller than what I used to get, but there were 3 pieces instead of the two larger pieces I was expecting, so it evened out. The mac & cheese is as good as you are going to find anywhere. The yams are thinly sliced, soft, and coated all over with some heavenly brown sugar goo. I tried to save as many as I could to eat as a "dessert" at the end of the meal. The corn bread was cake-like & sweet, although a tad on the dry side this time around, which is probably the only issue I experienced. I also had a Long Island Iced Tea from the bar & it took me back to when Mahogany's had them on special on Friday nights. The silverware has been replaced with plasticware, but the quality of the food is indisputable. Being a self-proclaimed "wing snob", I HAVE to go back soon & try the wings here. I can't wait until the menu is complete after the soft opening and visit time & time again. My wife agreed that this place & its food are truly special. Welcome back, Liz! read more

I really wanted to love these wings. My friend and I had been wanting some good wings and sides for a couple days and this place was recommended to us. After checking Yelp, we thought it was worth a shot. We ordered 5 tequila lime, 5 garlic pepper ranch, 5 brown sugar bourbon and 5 lemon pepper with cabbage, potato salad, mac & cheese and baked beans. The disappointment was that the wings did not seemed to be cooked in the respective rubs. It seemed more so that they were just coated with the ribs after they were cooked. So that made the taste of the wings bland. The only wings we really enjoyed was the brown sugar bourbon. Also there was quit a bit of chewy fat on the wings so that limited what we could eat. As far as the sides they were good. Only thing I'd recommend is if you get the baked beans ask the restaurant to put them into a separate container. Ours leaked into the bag from the container it was in. This sadly won't be our go to wing spot. read more

We had a wonderful experience here and can't wait to go back and try more items. The service was excellent, you can tell they really want to do well. Buffalo chicken dip was so good and served with wonderful warm pita chips. Wings were presented beautifully and had good flavor, wish they had been a little hotter in temperature. Order the hottest sauce if you want heat, we got medium and felt like they were WAY closer to mild. Side were all good, the yams being our favorite. Yeast roll was so yummy. Cornbread and sweet potato rolls were simple yet tasty. We ended with a Brown sugar bourbon cake that was lip smacking good!!! They have a full bar as well. They offer Karaoke Friday night and live bands on Saturday! read more

We are delighted with this find! We were in the area and went because of the great reviews. Don't let the curb appeal fool you! The dining room was clean and had a fun vibe. It was lunch, but seemed like it would be lively in the evening. The service was amazing. All the ladies were super friendly and attentive. The food was outstanding. Our table had wings, ribs, fried chicken sandwich and the pork sandwich with fries and mac. Everyone was happy. The ribs, wings and mac were spectacular. The chicken sandwich "one of the best" my teenager's ever had. Very very pleased. Great quality and quantity for the money. We were all talking about what we'll get next time. Can't wait to go back! read more

We were actually going to go to a different restaurant when we smelled the smoker going in the back. That delicious smell brought us to Wing Champ. Let me just tell you, everything is amazing. You have to tried the Hotlanta Peach sauce. It's a sweet BBQ style that gets spicier as you go. The collard greens are made with turkey and are very flavorful. If you love sweet sweet potatoes, then you need this. They are almost candied. Next thing we know, the owner brings us some dry rub wings to try. We got to try the Chef Charles Brown Sugar Bourbon rub. It's like candied bacon on a wing. The fries are feathered and so good. They are perfectly breaded. I can't wait to come back and try even more. Come support this local business and get some great food. Like the owner said, it's home cooking but not at home. You definitely also have to try the deserts as well. The Stawberry Crunch Cake literally tastes like you're eating an ice cream off the truck. The Brown Sugar Cake is also heavenly. It has cream cheese icing and tastes like a strudel. I didn't try the others, but they all smell amazing. Even if you only come for dessert you need to try it. Can't wait to come back and bring the whole family! read more
