Why is this important? In my humble opinion I just don't hold them to as high of a standard as a restaurant in a big town. However in the half dozen visits we have made here we have only had one less than stellar service visit. That time it was in the offseason and I think they just didn't have enough staff on hand. Tonight however was a typical experience, one that you could expect from any Saltgrass nationwide. The steak was superb, the drinks were good, the service was flawless and the atmosphere was fantastic as usual. By the way, for a steakhouse the prices are totally reasonable. So if you're in the mood for a steak and you're high in the Colorado Rockies this is the place to go.

I asked if we could be seated in, what they call, the garden room. She checked and was able to seat us there. It was like a different world compared to the first two areas. It is bright and cheery! Jaylon was our server and he did a great job! However, the manager was serving the wine. He offered a tasting first, and it was very bitter. I've never said "no" to the wine we ordered, until now. The bottle had clearly been opened and possibly been sitting a while. We asked for a different wine, were offered a tasting. It was much better. Although the manager seemed quite annoyed that I didn't find the first one acceptable. We both had steak (tenderloin and 8oz filet). They were VERY good. I ordered carrots as a side dish. They needed to be cooked just a little longer, as they were hard to cut even with a steak knife. Lyonnaise potatoes were okay. We shared sorbet for dessert. It was delicious! Overall I would give the food an A, service an A- (bc of the mgr), ambiance a B (bc of the very dark and sad looking dining rooms you walk through or possibly have to be seated in). One had a chocolate cake and honestly, I forget the other, but both said neither had a ton of flavor. In comparison tonight, I'm at Disney World. We had a dinner at a nice restaurant "flying fish" but no where near the reputation the Broadmoor. However, the service was engaging, personable and excellent. We had a lemon dessert that we shared that was incredibly flavorful. Unlike the desserts we had at the Broadmoor. While this is a good restaurant at Disney it is not a restaurant that should be competing with any restaurant at the Broadmoor plus the Broadmoor was about twice the price (again for OK service and food, with some mistakes) For me, broad more management and Broadmoor chefs need to look outside of their world to improve both service and food.
