Classic diner but inside Bronco Billy's Casino! My husband and I stopped in for a quick lunch before a play. We had to wait about 10 minutes because the place is small, and everyone who was there to see the play with us wanted to eat at the same time! Our food was delicious and because of reviews about the desserts, I ordered an eclair to go. I guess I have never had a good eclair before, but this one was fantastic! This will be our go to dining venue whenever we come up to see a play at the Butte! read more

I had managed expectations since this is a small café inside the casino. Overall it was very fine. My husband had the Gambler breakfast with 2 pancakes, eggs, and bacon. Overall he enjoyed it. I asked for a slight modification to do the Build Your Own but with hashbrowns instead of eggs to make a veggie hash. I added all 4 vegetables (onions, peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes) and cheddar. Our server was grumpy about it and told me she wasn't sure the kitchen could do that but sure enough they did and it came out just fine. I would order it again if in need of a quick, casual breakfast in Cripple Creek! read more

When we checked in the said wait time would be 45-60 min and I provided my phone number. They never called. I went to hostess station and ask who much longer and they stated they called me. Opened my phone and not one missed called. Then we were finally seated and had to wait 10 min for someone to come to table. The tables are bench seats and are very tight and cramped. Very little lighting. Dark and dinghy. Ticket time for food was 27 mins. Hash-browns were cold and terrible. Eggs were cooked in same pan as another dish which gave it a disgusting taste. The build your own omelette was delicious and on point. I learned more about the small town for the waitresses because they all were gossiping instead of checking on their table. Ask for a refill 2 times before actually getting one. read more

Pies! I am going to tell you a secret! The Chamonix Hotel/Casino has a "pastry chef" who is probably one of THE best in the entire state...perhaps even this part of the country. For those who are not aware...the Home Cafe is part of Bronco Billy's...which is also part of the Chamonix. The Chamonix employs the said "pastry chef". Dunno his name but from what I have heard...he has a legacy past. Anyway...the bottom line here is that this guy makes the best Apple pie I have ever eaten...and I have had some darn good apple pies over my 56 year lifespan. One twist here...although I have NOT had every one of this "pastry chef's" pies...I recently had his Coconut Custard pie. Folks, initially I told my neighbors that his Coconut Custard pie took a very close second to his Apple pie. However, as each day passes, I have quietly moved his Coconut Custard pie into the #1 spot. Just saying! His pies are available for order at the Home Cafe...and/or if available in small pie form, you can get one at the Home Cafe counter. read more

The hostess is in the wrong line of work. On Saturday evening she was rude to several guest including myself. She was rude about the wait time and when we asked if we could be added to the list for seating. She said come back in 30mins and I'll add you. Went back and she didn't want to add us to the list. I asked for Togo food and was told they don't serve Togo food when they're busy and have a wait list. She didn't even want to give a yogurt parfait that was already made in the display case. She finally put us on the list. 2 hours later I went back because our buzzer hadn't went off to see that several people on the list after our buzzer number had been marked off. When I asked she sat us. The food was quick to the table. Loaded tater tots were good, fried fish and chips were really good, the meatloaf was horrible. Absolutely don't recommend. read more

One Star for the Hostility, Not the Heat If you're into being barked at by a methed-up Gordon Ramsay impersonator with a rat tail growing out the front of his head like a backwards mullet, Cook at Home Café is your spot. First visit: I ordered wings, as I always do, and mentioned (politely) that I usually get all flats. Before I could blink, the self-proclaimed "chef" burst out from the kitchen like he was ready to throw hands, informing me with the grace of a roid-raged garden gnome that "we don't do that." Cool, noted. Second visit: I asked for eggs over medium. What I got looked like a chicken had just laid them straight onto the plate. When I sent them back, Rat Tail Ramsey could be heard complaining loudly from the kitchen like I'd asked him to poach a unicorn. Food? Edible--barely. Service? Let's call it "combat dining." Atmosphere? Hostile with a side of potential assault. If you like your breakfast with a side of attitude and the possibility of catching a felony charge from the cook, look no further. Otherwise, I'd roll the dice somewhere else in Cripple Creek. read more

This is truly an old-fashioned diner/cafe. Nostalgic by accident. I had fish and chips and my husband had one of the breakfast offerings. The breakfast was typical diner fair. (It's hard to mess up eggs and toast.). The bacon was cooked exactly like he ordered it. My fish was very good-a higher quality than usually found at a diner/cafe. I enjoyed the meal very much. Our waitress, Gina, was attentive and friendly. While far from a "fine dining experience ", the home cafe is adequate. read more

Great diner food. The only reason why I took out one star was because the service was so slow. Took over 30 minutes to get our food and it was only a Philly sandwich, pancakes, eggs and ham. We were very hangry at this point. The price is cheap here. I ordered the Gambler which came with three pancakes, side of fruit and candied walnuts, ham and two eggs. I couldn't finish it all of course but everything tasted great! You can't beat that deal for $7.77! Pancakes had some crisp on the end which I love and it was also my first time trying it with candied walnuts! Delicious! I'm going to have to eat it like that at home! Hubby had the Philly cheesesteak and he devoured it. I think it could've had more seasoning added but he enjoyed it. For less than $25 meal for the two of us, it was definitely worth it! read more

We stayed in Cripple Creek for two days and ate breakfast at the Home Cafe in the Bronco Billy's Casino twice and dinner once. The food was excellent each time. I would like to single out our server for two of them. Her name is Gina and she is wonderful. We have had her before and she takes pride in her work and cares about the customers dining there. She makes sure you are taken care of. We did not have her at the second breakfast only because she was off that day. Great food, good prices and excellent service. They are fully staffed as well which is a huge plus. read more

A little cafe inside a casino. I can see why people like it, the staff all working here were very pleasant and helpful. I ordered the fried shrimp with French fries and green beans. Hubby ordered a Buffalo bleu burger. I didn't really care for the shrimp, not sure really what it was I didn't like. It was maybe not very flavorful and it was the flattened fried shrimp so I wasn't really expecting what I got. The fries were good and the green beans were as well (and there were like little bacon bits in them). My husband said his burger was okay. Nothing to really write home about, but I think I should have maybe ordered my second choice of the bbq chicken? read more

I went to the home cafe. I have been there many times before. Tonight was diferent arrived and wanted to get an order to go. At first, I was ignored, and then he asked what I wanted. I said I wanted to get an order to go. He told me he wasn't doing any orders to go. Because they were backed up. I looked half the restaurant was empty, and he had just seated a couple. I was wow and he sated another couple. I do not recommend going here. There was no customer service. read more

Service was very slow even though only 2 other tables seated. Table that was sat after us received their food before us. Our order was a simple breakfast and burger. The onion rings were the best part of dinner , listed as an appetizer but brought with the meal. I'd be hustling working for that tip but I guess things are different from when I waited tables. It also isn't that hard to clean a tomato before slicing. read more

Portion size itself justifies the 4 stars. Got it breakfast burrito with bacon and green chile. It was huge! I paid around eight bucks and it was loaded with bacon and cheese. It made two solid meals. Not much of a wait I got it to go. read more

Another 3.5 stars experience. I rounded upwards. Normally the food in casinos is nothing to write home about. But today it was quite good. I had a Philly cheesesteak sandwich with potato salad. The hoagie bun was toasted and tasted fresh. The beef tasted like beef and it came with onions and grilled peppers. The potato salad had an egg flavor and was not sweet. I don't like a lot of sugar in my potato salad. A disabled veteran friend of mine can't drive anymore and he loves the slot machines. I took him up to cripple Creek for the day. read more

We spent the last day of our summer RV road trip in Cripple Creek and needed lunch. Saw the menu from Home Cafe and did a phone order for pick up. I got the Berry Berry Salad with fried chicken and husband got the prime rib sandwich The salad was amazing! Filled with strawberries, blueberries, Black berries and raspberries. Then there was cukes, tomatoes and all kinds of wonderful veggies for a salad. Served with a raspberry vinaigrette that was perfect. Husbands prime rib philly cheese steak was OK. A little on the small side for the cost All in all good food and pick up time was short. I would recommend this restaurant if you find yourself in Cripple Creek read more

Stopped into the cafe to take a break from losing alll our money! We had about a 15 min wait to be seated. Husband ordered a burger and I got the pulled pork sandwich. Pretty standard cafe food. To start with it's open all the time. The pancakes are the biggest and best I've come across. The burgers are good as well as the potato salad. Our server Trevor was very efficient and helpful. Although small the decor was clean and bright. Last but not least this was the most reasonably priced meal we've had in Colorado. read more

Why is this important? In my humble opinion I just don't hold them to as high of a standard as a restaurant in a big town. However in the half dozen visits we have made here we have only had one less than stellar service visit. That time it was in the offseason and I think they just didn't have enough staff on hand. Tonight however was a typical experience, one that you could expect from any Saltgrass nationwide. The steak was superb, the drinks were good, the service was flawless and the atmosphere was fantastic as usual. By the way, for a steakhouse the prices are totally reasonable. So if you're in the mood for a steak and you're high in the Colorado Rockies this is the place to go.
