I was scared to go considering the reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. I will say the drinks were a major let down. But I enjoyed the bread. The wedge salad and brie appetizers were good. The CO rack of lamb was great. And the bread pudding was good. Service was pretty good, friendly and timely. I wouldn't do garlic bread with the brie, the complimentary bread was a bit undercooked in my opinion, and the bread pudding would be good heated up. Cracked pepper would have been nice for my salad and baked potato. I would based on all that do three stars, but that lamb was pretty darn good! O man, so stinking full now! So we came to Cripple Creek to celebrate our friend's 30th birthday on a saturday night. We asked the locals where the best place to grab a meal was. The response: The Steakhouse. We arrived with our party of 6 at 8pm. We were told in no uncertain terms that they were totally booked and there was no way to accommodate our group. A little dejected, we went around the corner to the mexican joint who gladly and easily sat us and earned our business and tips. Love, love, love a good steak! First off the atmosphere is no Ruth's Chris, or Del Frisco but hey! It is Cripple Creek... the Wild West :-). Although the pricing seemed a bit steep for a Casino restaurant we were not disappointed in the food quality and the service. Had the Rib Eye which was pretty darn good and has the table side guacamole that was awesome as well. Since it was more of a casual place we paired the steak with some cold Bud Lights (at $1.75) that helped boost the mountain town experience a bit. As hinted above the only recommendation would be to ease up on the pricing a bit! Rib Eye was somewhere near $38 which makes it an expensive night out and does not leave as much to gamble with. read more

Yeah, that's what I figured going in too. Now an 18oz bone-in Porterhouse. That's something to get excited about! If you like Porterhouse jerky, perhaps. It's always disappointing when you order a steak rare and it gets delivered well done. You really didn't have to go and kill the cow twice, man. And don't be afraid of actually seasoning your steaks with some salt and pepper, really! The saving grace - the reason the steak was even edible - was the bordelaise sauce. Girlfriend ordered her New York strip mid-well and she was lucky enough to get it delivered mid-rare. Maybe it was just amateur night on the line on this particular night? The sides were far better than the steaks themselves, but certainly not good enough to justify the prices they've posted. If this is your first time ever tasting guacamole or if you've had nothing but pre-packaged guac before, I could understand the buzz. But if you've had good/authentic/properly seasoned guacamole before, you may be confused. $15 is insane for the 'charmingly prepared' tableside guac experience. The creamed Spinach was actually great, the Yukon mashed potatoes were tasty, the fried calamari was pretty good too - for being a little ways from the nearest ocean. Maybe they should rename the place the 'Sidehouse' - they're certainly not cutting it with the steaks. read more

We have regularly visited the steakhouse for more than 10 years. We have grown accustomed to having great food and great service. The steaks have always been spot on. The last couple times we've gone in, we have been increasingly disappointed. This last time we ordered 3 $30 filets. They were not grilled, more like broiled. All were over cooked. We dined with friends on a Sunday night. The service was friendly if a little slow. We started with the shrimp cocktail and the bacon wrapped shrimp. Both were excellent. The shrimp was incredibly fresh tasting. I split the smaller prime rib with my daughter with spinach and mashed potatoes. The prime rib was served slightly over poked, but the flavor and tenderness of the steak made up for it. The mashed potatoes were very tasty, but the creamed spinach was bland. My husband got the same thing except with a baked potato and asparagus. The asparagus was bland. He had no comment on the baked potato but really enjoyed his prime rib. Well disappointed is the only word I can use. We have been eating here for at least 15 years and have been there many times. The food has always been expensive but I've never left hungry until tonight. the staff is always excellent but the food servings are now a joke. 17.00 will get you 2 scallops and some seranno peppers. My wife's chicken pacatta was a small portion, the neighbors stuffed shrimp was a small portion and my fried shrimp was 6 shrimp, three carrots, about 2 cups of mashed potatoes for 36.00. The food was good but the amount you now get compared to the past is miniscule. If you like a small portion served by good staff and average food you will love the steakhouse now. If you want an adult portion and really good food look elsewhere. It's sad that the prices are that high and the quantity is so small. We won't be going back sadly as I won't put up with the ridiculous prices for the child portions. I know everything is more expensive now but this isn't caesars palace it's cripple creek Colorado and this simple is overpriced and underwhelming. Shane read more

One of several restaurants in Bronco Billy's Casino, this being the higher-end of the bunch. Two couples together dining on a Saturday night. Fortunately, we had reservations and were dining prior to a show at the Butte Theater down the street. Julie has been our server before and as usual, she was spot on. I want to start by saying that those that want a table at The Steakhouse need to make reservations, especially on a weekend. You may see open tables, but the staffing and kitchen size often make it difficult to fill the place and then provide timely food delivery. Not an official observation, just what happens in a 100+ year-old building that can't be expanded to accommodate a larger kitchen. I would also add that a $40 Porterhouse, for example, would be hard to find at most steakhouses, so have the expectation that the cuts aren't gigantic and eye-opening, just good entree-sized portions. Our table started with Calimari and Bacon-wrapped Shrimp which were good. Our salads that are part of the entree were fresh and tasty. My Porterhouse was cooked well but the baked potato and green beans are not the stars of the show, by any means. The King Crab and Rack of Lamb were very good and a Filet to round out the table was excellent. Again, Julie is really good at what she does and the only thing I can even comment about is she understands the tables need to turnover because of demand and there was an eversoslight feeling she was making sure we didn't have any long periods of idle time during out meal. The New York strip was bland, wasn't seared and had a thick layer of fat. The great beans were underwhelming and needed a few more minutes of cooking time. There were only two soups on the menu- clam chowder and onion. The waitress raved about the onion soup and claimed it was a top seller. I found it to be flavorless and one dimensional. The restaurant was practically empty yet our service was slow. After watching other people who arrived at the same time as we did eat their meal and leave and another group who arrived twenty minutes after us get their food, I politely asked the waitress about ours. She responded rather abruptly and claimed the restaurant has a twenty five minute strict policy between courses. Very unimpressed with the food and service. read more

For a pricey steakhouse restaurant, the meal was horrible. I ordered the butter filet rare and it came well-done, burnt and dry. Waitress had them re-do it for me but it still came out medium. Cheddar mashed potatoes were dry and overdone. Asparagus was pitiful. The only thing semi-decent was the $40 Lobster tail. The Steakhouse use to be a very good restaurant but over the last few years, the quality of the food has deteriorated. We've always heard what a great steakhouse Bronco Billy's has, so we made reservations. Upon entering it was a bit loud and crowded, a definite casino ambiance. The service was good our Calamari came out in a timely fashion and it was tasty. I ordered the 18 oz bone in ribeye for 37 dollars, my wife had the stuffed lobster for 40 dollars. I was very dissapointed with the steak. The quality of steak was more than likely a select cut. I've had more tender steaks from walmart. My wife said the stuffed lobster was ok, but definitely not worth 40 dollars. I would rather have gone to an Outback or texas roadhouse as they have a way bettter steak for a casual environment. read more

We sat at the bar in the steakhouse on Sat 4/13. Ordered some drinks, had apps and soup and salad for the 3 of us. We were enjoying a great evening when security asked us to quiet down and watch our language. We had not used the f word or anything that I would consider bad and for being loud you could barely hear him because the restaurant was loud. We asked our bartender/server if we had done anything wrong and she stated she thought we were fine. No explanation from security and we never did see the manager who I would think would talk to us first. It took the fun out of the night and we left. I have lived in CC since 1974 and I have never been made to feel this way by any casino. I for one will not be back and will not recommend. The food and service here are top notch! The steaks are huge and cooked perfectly as are the lamb lollipops, which are melt in your mouth delicious. The servers were very nice, not quite attentive enough (although they were constantly moving, so maybe just overworked?), but very accommodating & friendly. This is about all we can say about The Steakhouse. The prices equal those in the Broadmoor's 5-star restaurant, so we were expecting excellence. The shrimp appetizer had a texture & taste of being frozen too long and an overpowering taste of cloves. I hate cloves. The King crab legs were ok but would have benefited from a flavored boil. Also, half of them were refrigerator-cold, with the other ends being only lukewarm. The vegetables, broccoli & cauliflower, were waterlogged & mushy, as if reheated from frozen. The cheddar mashed potatoes were completely flavorless, not even salted. The Chicken Newburg was ok, but the lobster was a little tough & was not sweet at all. We didn't waste our money on dessert or drinks, except for coffee--which was very good! :-/ (We grabbed drinks at the downstairs bar for about a tenth the price of the restaurant's and carried them in.) My husband's baked potato was fine, he says, but his soup was mediocre. The bread was good. This was an early Valentine's Day celebration for us. We made reservations weeks ahead, also for a hotel room, planning to go to the Ice Fest as well. When we left the restaurant, before7:45 pm, not even the beer garden was still going! So, it was a bust all around!. We'll probably go out again this week, so this isn't our Valentine's memory this year, but probably just to an inexpensive place near home. We've been to the Steakhouse a number of times now, and it is SO good! We almost always get the ribeye and it's among the best steaks we've ever had. We've also tried the salmon and the prime rib, which were both really good, but we always come back to the ribeye. Made a reservation for dinner. Upon arrival, we were a few minutes early and the not so friendly host said he had to see if our table was ready. Once seated, it took awhile for our waitress to acknowledge us. When she finally did, she seemed overwhelmed but was friendly. Ordered the calamari and it was so-so. My husband's prime rib was grey in color and the green beans were terrible. My meal, pasta, was fair. We expected a lot more for what we paid and would not return. I never write reviews but our experience at this place was TERRIBLE. Both my wife's dinner and mine did not include all the ingredients that were supposed to come with the meal according to what the menu said (we had to ask for them). The steaks were tuff, they were over cooked, they charged us incorrectly, and when I asked about the charges the manager came out and was very rude and then walked away before hearing what the problem was. For the price of the food you can DEFINITELY find, better food, better service, for less at other places in cripple creek. I believe in writing detailed reviews so here is EXACTLY what happened: When we were there they had a father's day special that said on the special that it was a Buffalo prime rib with choice of two sides for $35 dollars. When placing my order I asked the waitress very clearly if there would be an additional charge for the sides I ordered, she said no. Both my wife and I ordered steaks and we both asked for them to be cooked medium. The steaks came back well done not medium, my wifes steak was supposed to have blue cheese on top it did not we had to ask for it. And my steak was supposed to have caramalized onions and mushrooms on it and it did not have those as well. They then charged me an extra for the sides I ordered after the waitress told me I would not be. When I asked about the charges the waitress said that she would see what she could do. I don't know what the waitress told the manager but the manger then came out pointed out the text on the menu that I guess I should have believed over the waitress and walked away without hearing what the problem was.
