Shrimp Salad a la Louis Stratta

We stopped by here for lunch while staying at the hotel (located inside of the main entrance to the right) and it was a good experience. The ambiance is a little confusing - it's like a whiskey creek when you first walk in and then there's an atrium if you go to the back of the restaurant which seems like the better place to sit. I had the Shrimp Salad and my husband the Bisque and Club Sandwich. Everything was good and the servers were very attentive. They even brought out warm gluten free bread for me which was very nice of them. Serving sizes were good and they had a raw bar that looked delicious as well.

Not that impressed for a restaurant on the broadmoor. It was ok, I had the pork chop and my husband had the prime rib. He did say his prime rib was good but my biggest complaint was the only option for me was the pork chop, non dairy and non seafood (since I wasn't in the mood for a steak).

Excellent! Caesar salad and the burger are my go-to. Excellent service. The bread is also really good.

La Taverne is inside the Broadmoor. It's a beautiful restaurant. I've attached a picture of our menu. First course was a choice between dungeness crab bisque and french onion soup, but both were over salted. I got the bisque and while it was creamy and had a few chunks of crab meat, the salt really overpowered everything and i could only eat a few bites. They also served bread, but the bread itself was quite tough. For my entree, I got the halibut en persillade which was also very salty. The green sauce was also not my favorite (zucchini puree) but it came with a tomato and saffron "broth" which was pleasant. I heard that the colorado red bird 1/2 chicken entree was good, but I didn't get to try it. For dessert, the waitstaff didn't really wait for people to order their dessert early on or prompt people to choose a dessert. So a lot of our party didnt get dessert (even though it should 100% be included anyway, especially in a pre fixe menu).... but I managed to get the cremeux a la vanille et aux fruits rouges. This was probably the best part of the meal, even though i wasnt a huge fan of the crust underneath the cremeux. I also got a lychee spritz which was yummy! No flaws there. I would just try a different menu.

We had an early flight into Colorado Springs and this lunch was our first meal of the day. The restaurant had a beautiful sunroom where we ate. I ordered the French onion soup and you guys... they gave me fancy scissors! I was like umm what even is this for? It's for the CHEESE! The soup was the best French onion I've ever had in my life. The scissors actually were very handy to cut the cheese as I ate the soup. We also had shrimp cocktail and my bf had the steak. Everything was great! There was a family celebrating a birthday, so I think it's that kind of special occasion restaurant. We didn't visit the bar area but they had fresh oysters which looked really good. The servers were super nice and checked on us often.

First of all, it's the Broadmoor so the service is always on point. Love the solarium/conservatory part, that's where we were seated last night. Very airy and light. (My only complaint would be the AC, oh boy was it blasting!) Certain things on the menu are go-tos for me. I usually get the prime rib, it's the best in town. The loaded baked potato is also good, as is the popover. We also tried the carpaccio and tuna appetizers. YUM. Dessert was the chocolate royal. Rich but not too, and perfect for sharing. Expensive, yes but worth it!

If you're vegetarian or vegan your options here are extremely limited. Thankfully I saw one option on the menu: mushroom bolognese. They were able to make the dish without cheese and it was pretty good. It would be nice if more options could be added to the menu and ones that would include plant based protein. The ambiance was very nice with dim lighting and a live guitar player. Our server was very nice and helpful. La Taverne is the place to go if you're looking for somewhere expensive with meat and seafood options.

This restaurant is inside the broadmoor. It should have 4-5 star rating but it's barely a three......here's why. We came with a group of 27. We made the reservation over a month before we arrived. That means the kitchen should have been aware and ready to handle our large group. It was also a Tuesday night. The menu was set. An appetizer, main and dessert. The appetizer took a long time to arrive. Let me back up a bit, the server took a long while to take our food order and we ordered all courses at the same time. The appetizer then took a long time to arrive. Then it took a long while for the main course to arrive. I ordered the prime rib, which when it arrived was very undercooked. I get prime rib its supposed to be rare but this was 1-2 steps below rare. I had to send it back. My potato was covered with enough sour cream for 4 potatoes. Everyone else who ordered the prime rib had to send it back as well. The service was ok when he was around, it would be long gaps between anyone coming to check on us. For the amount of money they are charging the service should be more polished. The level of service was on par for a mid level steakhouse not a high end one. The wine list was basic, should have been much better and also very overpriced. And they were missing a lot of our preferred choices. Overall food was average or worse almost raw. Service needs to be more polished. They need to speed things up or plan better. Also they charged us 26 percent gratuity!!!! That's the most I've ever seen for a large group in the regular dining room not a private room. Improve the wine list. Barely a 3. That's me being nice. There has to be better choices anywhere else.

We come to the Broadmoor about once a year and usually do our large family dinners at the Tavern (La Taverna). This evening our waiter Roy was on point with our service and more than accommodating to requests and making sure the kids were happy. For those of you who do not have kids, there is some anxiety with taking the younger ones out to a nice dinner as they can easily derail the evening and having staff that make sure they are having a good time relieves that pressure. We ordered a variety of items including steaks, some vegetarian pasta's, pork chops, and a few side dishes and everything was delicious. My tenderloin was cooked perfectly to a medium rare and the bearnaise sauce was exactly the rich and creaminess that I was craving. The atmosphere at the tavern is also great and the fact that they have been serving patrons at this location during times when most arrived by horse or train adds to that old world nostalgia. I would argue that they also have some of the best french fries as they are shoestring cut, crispy, with just the right amount of salt.

    Cheers

Plenty of horseradish but I especially like the chopped celery. My New York strip was tasty and cooked exactly to the temperature I ordered. The "European" flight wine paring was perfect. Service was great. Evan was polite and attentive despite doing double duty as bartender and server. However, for reasons unclear to me but a very common experience, it was a very long wait between the time I received the dessert menu and the time someone took my order. This happens too frequently, once the entree is delivered the server forgets the table. When it finally arrived, the fresh berries and cream dessert was disappointing. It seemed like the berries had been frozen rather than fresh. When I observed this, a server said it was because they were macerated in alcohol over night. I ate only about 1/3 and thought it should have been removed from the check after I complained, but it was not. Otherwise, an excellent experience but not as good as it should have been.

The bartender didn't set up his own bar and blamed it on the staff from earlier in the evening. No biggie, but this bartender seems to fumble a LOT. Drink orders were taken right away, and everyone received their drinks except my fiancé. He eventually just ordered a different drink instead. We placed our food order around 7:15, but the appetizers came out one by one instead of together, which already set the tone for the night. Our main courses didn't arrive until around 9:00 PM, almost two hours later. On top of that, two of our dishes were completely forgotten and had to be re-rung and brought out even later. We didn't plan on spending over two hours at dinner, but at that point we didn't have much of a choice. The food itself was actually very good, but not for the price. For a party of 7 where everyone only had one drink, our bill came out to over $1,450, nearly $210 per person. At that price point, there really isn't room for this many mistakes. It was also very obvious that the restaurant was understaffed. One woman was running the entire top floor by herself, taking orders and making drinks. That's not fair to the staff or the guests. Overall, the potential is there, but the service and staffing need major improvement, especially for such an expensive dining experience.

Our server seemed very kind, but it seemed like maybe he was a bit overwhelmed. We ordered our drinks and our food. Our drinks came out fairly soon, but the food took forever. At one point, we even questioned our waiter on why it was taking so long and one of the kitchen heads came out to clear up the matter we just said we've been waiting forever and we just ordered three burgers . Two people at the table had ordered their burgers, medium. Mind you as a cook I know, medium is a tough one to nail with hamburgers, but it would've been nice if there was the slightest bit of pink or juice in the patty. Both of us that had medium burgers had overcooked well-done burgers. I felt bad for our waiter so I gave him a decent tip. He really did do his best in the storm of a lunch. It just really sucks when you wait forever and then when it finally comes out it's "meh". I've been to Ted's on two other occasions and everything was on point. Maybe it was because I was with my mom and my very conservative looking brother. Yesterday we looked like three mountain Wookies (handsome , burly mountain folk) dining in for lunch.
