980 Prime was a great experience both the service and the food itself. First Emily was fantastic. She was not only very knowledgeable about the menu items but her personality was warm, funny, and very relaxing. As for the food it was some of the best I've had....EVER. I've eaten in some great restaurants in 67 years all over the country and abroad and it was in the top 5 steaks I've had. The sides were perfect also. The asparagus was out of this world. Steak was cooked to perfection. I highly recommend 980 Prime Steakhouse. read more

The pros: Exquisite food, nice atmosphere, nice staff. Comfortable places to sit and relax. Cons: High prices, a' la carte menu. Overall I recommend it because the food is quite good. read more

What a fun night! Came with my daughter for dinner . We tried several things and besides little issue with one of the salads ( issue was immediately resolved) all food was delicious, fresh and of good quality. It's a beautiful , classy restaurant. We really enjoyed everything, from ambiance , to food and finally service ! Our waitress , chef who did our dessert, trainee waiter and anyone else were fabulous! We loved it! I'm sure we will be back for more ! read more

Waited over a year...dunno why! I finally got to experience the 980 Prime Steakhouse at the Chamonix...and was it a meal to remember. Also, this dinner was our holiday dinner...a tradition amongst a close group of friends living up here in Cripple Creek for several years now. First...to set the stage...since its opening, I have heard everything under the sun about this restaurant...good, bad and ugly. I have to take some of the reviews by my local folks and friends with a grain of salt...simply because we are just not used to a truly fine dining experience up here in Cripple Creek Colorado. Just saying. Being from Denver all my life and traveling the world, a fine dining experience is...yes, a luxury, but something which happens a LOT more frequently than up here in Cripple Creek. A simple summary of what our party drank and ate: various cocktails, oysters on the half shell, pork chop, bison filet, filet mignon, scallops, 2 bottles of wine, all topped off with a cheesecake and some Grand Marnier. Everything was not only perfectly prepared and presented...but absolutely outstanding. Special mention were the oysters...as several of us said these were the cleanest and best tasting oysters we have ever had! Hands-down, this 980 Prime Steakhouse in Cripple Creek Colorado sits close to 4 stars above everything else nearby. If you want the best food and dining experience in the area...you need to go here!! read more

We had a little bit of everything during our visit. My daughter ordered the salmon and really liked the risotto, but thought the salmon itself was just okay--although, to be fair, she's a pretty picky 12-year-old. I had the 8 oz filet, which was a nice cut of meat and very good. My mom also had the filet and really enjoyed hers. My husband had the rib cap steak and thought it was very good, giving it an 8/10. My dad had the center-cut pork chop and said it was good, although he's had better. The French onion soup was fantastic and definitely one of the highlights of the meal. My husband also tried the lobster bisque and gave it a 6/10--good, but nothing particularly memorable. For sides, the asparagus had good flavor, but it was only warm when served and much softer than I prefer. The mushrooms and onions were good. We also ordered the potato gnocchi, which was very tasty, but definitely truffle-forward--so if you don't like truffle, this probably isn't the side for you. All of our drinks tasted great, although my espresso martini was a surprisingly small pour. For dessert, we shared the crème brûlée. It was a very generous portion and overall very good. The atmosphere was one of my favorite parts of the restaurant. It has a really nice mountain-modern look that feels upscale without being overly formal. It fits the area well while still feeling a little elevated, especially for Cripple Creek. Overall, it's a great-looking restaurant with a comfortable atmosphere. Service was also very good. We did have a few billing errors at the end of the meal, but the staff handled them quickly and professionally, so it didn't negatively impact our experience. Overall, I'd give our first experience a 3.5-4 out of 5. There was a lot we enjoyed, and I'm definitely willing to give it another try. At this price point, though, I'm hoping our next visit is a little more polished and everything is spot-on. If it is, this could easily become a place we'd return to for a special occasion. read more

Beautiful restaurant with very knowledgeable staff and we were well taken care of! Service was great, from the server, to bartenders, floor managers, and support staff! Located to the right out of Chamonix hotel. Food was pretty good! We shared the wedge salad which they split into 2 plates which was really nice. My husband had the filet mignon MR which was almost cooked to perfection. It was more on the rare side but we rather have that than a medium! I had the scallop special: scallops were delicious, risotto that came with was okay. I probably would've preferred it with mash potatoes or something else. Asparagus side was delicious! Cooked to perfection and had the perfect amount of lemon to brighten up your palate. read more

Went here with some friends who knew all the staff and Chef Barry who was working. We sat at the bar and had an absolutely incredible meal and drinks. The gratis table bread is the best, fluffiest focaccia I've ever had. My husband had the Caesar salad to start and the braised short rib ravioli and said it was fantastic. Pro tip: save a slice of bread to soak up the sauce off your plate. I had the mixed greens salad to start and the potato gnocchi in truffle cream sauce. Omg drool. The gnocchi were pillowy but had a nice sear - the best combination. Christopher made exceptional cocktails and of all the ones I tried, my favorite was the You're Gold You're Mine. A fun touch is that they have an Old Fashioned cart they bring out when you order one and there's a smoker which filled the air with campfire aroma and magic! read more

Positives first: The service was very good. Our waitress, Marian, was pleasant, attentive, and knowledgeable throughout the evening. The drinks were also well done. I ordered the tableside smoked Old Fashioned, which was surprisingly tasty--I usually find the smoking aspect to be more novelty than substance. Areas needing improvement: The steak tartare itself was good; however, the accompaniments were under-portioned relative to the amount of tartare. The bread served with it was basic toasted white bread, which felt underwhelming for a restaurant at this level. The New Year's Eve prime rib special was inconsistent--warm around the edges but cold in the center. Now for the disappointing part: I ordered the sea bass, which arrived cold and frozen in the middle. I returned the dish, and our waitress was extremely apologetic. Unfortunately, by the time an update was provided--about 30 minutes later--we were told another sea bass would take an additional 30 minutes to prepare. By then, everyone else at the table had finished their meals, so I had no choice but to cancel my order and go without dinner. To her credit, the waitress did offer us a dessert in an effort to make things right. With a bill exceeding $300, I would expect a much higher level of quality control. For a restaurant at this price point, these issues shouldn't occur. That said, I would be open to giving 980 another chance. I understand that things can go wrong, especially on a busy night like New Year's Eve. Cheers. read more

980 Prime completely exceeded my expectations. The space itself is absolutely beautiful, way nicer than I was expecting. It really sets the tone for an amazing dining experience. Every dish we ordered was high quality and delicious. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly, incredibly tender and flavorful. The Caesar salad was spot-on (it really was as it should be haha!) the steak tartare was excellent, and the broccolini was a great complement to the meal. The fried calamari was good (I personally would've loved it a bit crispier), but still very enjoyable. Dessert was a highlight: the cheesecake was fantastic, and the flambé banana dessert completely surprised me, I don't even like bananas, and I loved it. The show was awesome, very nice flambé person lol. We did have a small issue with a dish I didn't mention, but the staff handled it flawlessly. They immediately agreed with us, took it off the bill, and made the situation completely stress-free. Zero issues. On top of the incredible food, the staff truly made the night. Everyone was so friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Overall, an outstanding experience from start to finish. We will absolutely be back! This place has some high prices but I definitely recommend coming with a plan to spend money so you can try all their amazing dishes. read more

Marion was our waitress. She was absolutely amazing! There wasn't a moment where she wasn't checking in on what we might need and was always really friendly doing it. Kudos to her and also the cook for a great meal. Recommend the 40 day, aged Ribeye! Amazing. Highly recommend this restaurant! read more

Best place to eat! We had such a great experience here. It's not always easy to find a steakhouse that feels like a nice date spot while still being welcoming to kids, but this place nailed it. The service was exceptional -- the staff was attentive, kind, and very accommodating to my 7-year-old, which made the whole evening feel relaxed and enjoyable. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere struck the perfect balance between upscale and comfortable. Overall, such a great date night. We'll definitely be back! read more

980 Prime is where you want to be if you want a higher-end steakhouse experience. When you arrive, the vibe is similar to what you would experience in Chicago or New York. My wife and I recently visited for our 22 anniversary while staying at the Chamonix Casino Hotel. We were greeted by several members of the team and were welcomed with a glass of champagne and a warm anniversary wish from the manager. Everyone was great! We ordered the steak tartare to start and inquired about the old-fashioned cart. Soon, both were at our table. The steak tartare was excellent, only lacking a little salt, but it was delicious. We found the fresh bread they brought to the table was better with this than the brioche they served it with. The cocktail cart was a lot of fun, and the guy making the drinks was very personable and entertaining. He also made a wonderful OF, and the sassafras smoke added just a little more. We went on to entrees, where she ordered the surf and turf, and I ordered the 12oz--40-day aged ribeye. We also ordered the gnocchi. Everything arrived within a reasonable amount of time and looked delicious. Her meal was perfect, cooked to perfection and sooo good. Mine, unfortunately, was overcooked and had to be redone. It was not a huge deal, but we could not enjoy our meal together. I didn't want hers to be cold when mine returned. They quickly fixed it, but it put a damper on the evening. They were very apologetic, but it was what it was. After I finished my steak, which was great the second time around, we ordered the F'N chocolate cake. This was huge and super-rich. We asked them to box up about half of it, and we enjoyed it at the rooftop pool with a bottle of wine later that night. All in all, it was a pretty good experience. However, a steakhouse that can't hit its temps when charging a premium is pretty disappointing. The other thing that I found frustrating is that on the hotel website, they offer $100 off at the restaurant when staying with them. It's kind of tacky that this wasn't advertised to us by either the hotel or the restaurant, but I found it days later. read more

Celebrating 90th Birthday at my favorite restaurant in Cripple Creek. Been enjoying their food, service, ambience for many years,,,since they opened. Izzy, host seated us at our table of choice. Harmony, drink mixologist greeted is with a welcome Happy Birthday. The event was excellent....my wife and I were provided with a large table, enough room for all the foods we ordered and our friends who came by at times. We ordered a chilled bottle to Presco and appetizers, each perfect. We were honored with visits from Marketing Director, Wendy Field, Personal Casino Host Wendi Vinson and Chamonix Vice President and General Manager, Brandon Lenssen. Our attentive service person, Heidi was and is a treasure. She waited patiently for our menu choices, while our guests were telling us stories and I in turn gave pointed notes about living to 90, enjoying good health. We enjoyed warm assorted breads, oysters, salad and a most succulent 24 ounce steak with wine sauce. All at the level of perfection. The event was capped with many photos, chilled Presco and the most beautiful 90th year cake. This was prepared by the very talented pastry chef, Johnny Iuzzni, who is a James Beard Winner. Other patrons asked about this fabulous cake we shared with them. Happiness all around. read more

Wonderful respite with such care and devotion to their service and quality. After a long day of driving, shopping, walking and gambling - we were starving and ready to get off our feet. We were given a friendly greeting at the door and quickly seated. Our server, Marion, was a breath of fresh air. She had great food and drink recommendations, super friendly and quick to get us everything we could have wanted. Hands down best steak we have had in years, and we travel everywhere. We send our complements to Sacha for the perfect cook and two of the greatest steaks. The lobster bisque made by Beverly beat out the great bisque at the Brown Derby. We brought desserts home and enjoyed the day after. OMG. Huge portions, light, delicate, decadent and the best taste and value. We will go out of our way to come to 980 again and again. We will be back for another fabulous meal. Thanks to the entire team and a special call out to Marion for all she did to make our dining experience memorable. read more

The service was excellent. The food was amazing. I had the cold seafood platter there was alot. Plus couldn't stop eating husband's meal.

Although the service was good, I can't say the same for the food. Two in our party had seafood, and both of us ended up with a case of diarrhea the next day. I had the shrimp cocktail, which was so undercooked that the shrimp were tough and chewy, I only ate one of the four shrimp served. Another person in our party had the scallops, which were warm, but cool and pink in the middle, definitely not recently pan seared. The rest of the food also had issues with temperature, the loaded baked potatoes and the French onion soup were both tepid when served. The restaurant was not crowded, so I can't attribute our issues with them just being busy. For the price point and all of the hype for this place, I certainly expected more. I doubt that I will give them a second chance when there are plenty of very good (and less expensive) restaurants in Cripple Creek. read more

Had a very sad experience on Saturday. It is very apparent that all the restaurant cares about is that u have a wallet. It is very under staffed and everyone is just running around try to serve tables. Took 40 minutes to get a drink and it was terrible ( martini was served in a glass that tasted like the soap it was cleaned in). I can't believe that your chef you praise so much can let meals leave the kitchen that are so poor ( steak for $78 was COLD and baked potato was hard not baked - the gnocchi were tater tots! As far as the dress code - that is also a joke. Tank tops and shorts were the dress of the evening and flip flops! Honestly if u want to be roadhouse steak house lower your prices and you are their! If ypu want to be the upscale unique restaurant you claim on your website you really need to get help. I did feel sorry for the server who kept apologizing for the Long wait but really was not my problem. Hope you can decide who you want to be and then FIX IT! read more

My wife and I were very excited to try this place and it was the feature of our weekend in Cripple Creek. However we were very disappointed. The lobster mac and cheese side was almost $50 and we could only eat a few bites due to the lobster tasting so bad. The steak was decent, but not worth $89 and was thin. The baked potato on the side was fine but the peel was burnt. My wife's drink was quite good, I believe it was the Cupid's Kiss. I had the 9494 Old Fashioned and it was not good. Very sweet and I didn't enjoy it. The service was great, staff was all very kind. The ambiance and lighting was also very nice. However the food was very low quality for that high of a price tag. I would suggest not going here when you visit, unless they drastically change the food. read more

Everything was superb! Atmosphere, attentiveness, drinks, perfect! We will be going back!

Don't waste your money. At this price point, the food and experience is not worth it. We went on a Saturday night to celebrate a special occasions. We didn't need to make it known we were there for something special, but they asked during the booking and even the hostess asked us if we were celebrating something, which we were, and she mentioned, "I'll let your waiter know", but then no acknowledgment at all during our service. We had the Caesar salad (it was average), the scallops (they were great) and the pork chop (completely dry). The sever did ask if I wanted them to prepare it again, but I then the scallops would be cold and it wasn't worth it to me. We ordered two cocktails, which were great. The ambiance was nice as well. But overall the hostess and waiter (I think his name was Anthony) were not impressive. At this price point, you expect a level of service that just wasn't there. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

Drop your price. You lose @ the casino and then you pay high $ for food. Menu is not healthy. They use fancy words to make you think it is special European influence, lol. Chef Dakake is praised to have cooked for celebrities including Barack Obama, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, and Jay-Z. We'll folks in Cripple Creek do not have Celeberies $. We know Las Vegas is hurting & so is the Chamonix Casino. Full House Resorts spent $300 Million on the Casino....now they expect the folks to lose & pay top $ in the restaurant to make up for over budgeting...lol CO folks can't be compared with high rollers who come to Vegas..... what does Cripple Creek has to offer? Vegas and Cripple Creek is day & night. What is the asset of this Casino? Other you pay big you lose big....Corporate greed and commodification. In short, Cripple Creek is not Las Vegas & Chamonix Casino did not rebranding the town. Seniors who on a fixed income can & will not replace Las Vegas high rollers lose money gambeling & then excpected to dine @ 980 Prime Resturant. And our soldiers are not stupid to lose there retirement so Daniel Lee, President & CEO of Full House Resorts can keep earning earned a total annual compensation of $1.49 million in 2024. Food was B-. Overall service and value were terrible. First of all there was 4 of us set at a table one side was extremely wobbly like a 3 inch drop if you put weight on the edge. The waitress argued a bit that it was fine? She finally moved us to a good table. Then later set a couple there, one of them eventually moved to the other open seat next to him. She made no effort to fix table. Before she moved us she actually handed us a napkin to put under the table base to see if we could steady it. Really? We ordered the dual lobster, two turf and surfs and braised ravioli and meat ball. Dual lobsters were excellent. The Surf and turf was ok but they give you like a half a lobster on top of a small fillet. For the price the dual lobster much better. My wife's ravioli was sub par, she only ate a few bites. I didn't even like it and I like almost anything. The $14 salad was brown. Everything is à la carte., so your meal ends up over $120 each. For that price I expect exceptional service and a full tail on a surf and turf. It was my friend's birthday so we held back complaining, they didn't even offer him a desert for his birthday. We would have all ordered one if they did. Management needs to fix the service, and for the prices they need to give more value. read more

Everything was terrific, esp our waitress Heidi. She was very knowledgeable about the concept and menu.

The food was terrible. (And for Valentine's weekend, I'm truly shocked.) My husband and I ordered ravioli and prime rib. The ravioli was dry, oily, and kind of gross. Didn't eat it. The prime rib was cold and chewy. Truly the worst prime rib we've ever tasted. We ordered creamed corn as a side. Inedible. No flavor at all. Honestly cannot believe how bad it was. We tried to be kind about it when the server noticed we weren't eating. The Chef came out, and I asked him if he'd tasted anything because of how bad it all was, and he said he hadn't. We really tried to not complain, but we ate very little and nothing was comped. Server dropped our bill on the table and walked away abruptly. I am honestly shocked at how bad the entire experience was. read more
