I went to Winewood with some friends and their teenage kids for brunch today. The food was really good. We all ordered different plates and everyone was pleased. From the tacos to the crab & lobster Benedict eggs it all tasted delicious! The eggs were cooked to perfection! $10 bottomless mimosas and our waiter made sure our glasses were never empty! A couple of the people in our party ordered the sangria. My only complaint is that it took about 10-15mins for the hostess to get us a table even when we had reservations and the restaurant was pretty much empty. We sat in the patio which has AC so it was great for a hot Texas afternoon! I would definitely come back if I'm ever in the area. Parking was easy too! read more

Food was Amazing! Service was the bummer. I ordered food for pick up. I asked a simple question as to if I could get a French Dip even thought it wasn't on the dinner menu. They told me I could and when I picked it up, it was a Spinach Dip. I told them they got my order wrong, and they told me they couldn't do a French Dip for me. Real bummer that they wasted my time. This is our "go-to" place. We know and are known by servers and management alike on a first name basis. Think friendly, efficient and complete. The bar is well stocked and the wine rack requires a ladder. While the atmosphere is comfortable the selection is well planned. Make no mistake, there is no cook. We picked this as our nice night out while house hunting in the area. The servers were amazing - the bartender was extremely knowledgeable about whiskey and came by our table several times - as were the cocktails and appetizers. The ambiance was also very pleasing. I ordered the tenderloin filet and after hearing about the quality of Texas steak all my life, I was really disappointed. Okay, full disclosure, we just went for drinks and apps and we sat at a table in the bar area; maybe the food and service is better in the restaurant, but it was so bad in the bar we wouldn't think of possibly wasting any more of our money. Let's see, service, distant and apathetic at best, rude at worst. It's like our dreadlocked waiter was doing us a favor by doing his job. Food ... the worst calamari we've ever had, and the cheese plate was downright embarrassing; we barely touched either, but our server couldn't have cared less. You know a restaurant is good when you are torn between 6 entrees for dinner, and know you have to go back to the others. Winewood Grill offers a stellar menu, with creative dishes and an atmosphere that reminds me of Rutherford Grill in Sonoma, California. Great wine options, warm ambiance, fantastic food. We started with the tenderloin bruschetta which was a crowd pleaser, and my husband and I split the Pork Tenderloin...which was stuffed with mushroom cream cheese roulade and topped with cranberry sauce. It was DELICIOUS. The sides are amazing too, and I'm a sides girl! We got the potatoes au gratin (chessey deliciousness), sweet potatoe mash topped with goat cheese, and our friends got the garlic mash. Hello starchy carb heaven. Our friends also got the Lobster Shrimp Ravioli and the BBQ Ribs with Mac and Cheese. Happy faces all around. We couldn't pick just 1 desert. So we got the lemon layered cake, brookie, and cinnamon bread pudding. The bookie, which is a chocolate chip cookie IN A BROWNIE was my favorite. Jennifer was our amazing server that really set off the night. Everything from the presentation of drinks/food, speed of service/food delivery, and most importantly, taste... Were impeccable. I'm HIGHLY recommending Winewood. We went for my fiancé's birthday and it was perfect. I had the Winewood vespar martini- it was very strong yet well balanced and flavorful. We started with the cheese board (BEYOND AMAZING) and told Jennifer we would split the Caprese salad. She even brought the caprese out on separate plates AND side plates for us to use. I'm not usually over the moon and very rarely impressed with caprese, it's a safe standard but Winewood knocked it out of the park. What ever the sauce/reduction was unreal it was like an Italian garden party wrapped in a balsamic hug. The cheese selection was so gourmet, any foodie would be impressed. The cuts of meat on the board were just as prestigious. My fiancé had the rack of lamb with fingerling potatoes and Brussel sprouts and a mint garlic aioli, cooked medium rare, was divine. I had the ribeye with jumbo shrimp and potatoes ah gratin.... seriously to die for. Everything was so so good! We were offered a look at dessert but we opted out as I told Jennifer we had a cake to get home to. She promptly responded with what are we celebrating, and we said my fiancé's birthday. She swiftly, candidly and sweetly returned with a surprise brookie. The cherry on top of a fabulous meal. To say we will return will be an understatement!! We cannot WAIT to go back!!! This brunch was just great!!! The place is just amazingly looking inside and there was no wait whe we went for brunch on Sunday. We got several plates but definitely the winner of the table was the eggs Benedict with pulled pork. It was great and the pork gives it a great flavor. Not so much of a fan of the crab and lobster Benedict plate, honestly it was not a combination that makes sense in our mouths. The cocktails were great and the price was pretty decent. We enjoyed Easter Brunch at a courtyard table with our dog this year and really enjoyed ourselves. I made a reservation on OpenTable and followed up to see if they allowed small dogs...lucky for us, they did and were so welcoming to us when we arrived. Our server was very nice and efficient too. I had the citrus marinated tuna tartare, served over a mirepoix of cucumber, tomato, and avocado with crostini, which was very tasty and fresh. My wife and I have been here a number of times and we are always raving about it to our friends. They're food is delicious and I've tried a number of different things that are always good. Their ribs are the best I've ever had. The atmosphere is very modern but still cozy and great servers. Decent bartenders with a good liquor and beer selection if wine is not your drink of choice. Of course, being called WINEwood, they have a very nice wine selection and their staff are all very knowledgeable about each of them. I'd recommend the ribs, the smoked gouda and apple-wood bacon mac & cheese and a nice red pairing suggestion. read more

great brunch spot! made a reservation for sunday and they called me saturday afternoon to confirm. i arrived first of my party of three. they allowed me to be seated without my party being complete, which is always refreshing! emily was our server. excellent and attentive service and super delicious food. they keep the bottomless mimosas flowing and we really enjoyed the atmosphere and the jazz. we were seated in the back of the restaurant, but could still hear it, only if slightly. made for a nice ambiance for sure! i got the blackened salmon and asparagus, my friends got the crab/lobster benedict, and the the chicken and waffles. we all sampled each other's entrees and they were all fantastic! we are adding winewood into our brunch rotation. can't wait to return! read more

All I can say is show up on am empty stomach because the food is so good you wont know when to stop eating. The customer service is excellent to say the least because when we asked where our waiter was because we were in a rush we ended up getting a free appetiser and dessert which they insisted on even when we said its OK. My boyfriend took me here for our Valentine's dinner and I must say it was quite lovely. He made an early reservation for us so we were able to beat the crowd. Either way it wouldn't have mattered because it is a fairly spacious restaurant and we shared a nice booth in the corner together. Our waiter was awesome and very knowledgeable about the menu. We started off with a bottle of Malbec Argentinian wine which was fantastic. For an appetizer we ordered calamari and it came with a sauce that had a hint of spice in it which made it delicious! My boyfriend ordered the seared ahi tuna and I ordered the salmon and creamy tomato bisque. All of the dishes we shared were excellent. The whole staff was really nice overall. The food runner complimented me on my necklace. I thought it was really nice of her to notice. :) We weren't going to get dessert, but the waiter convinced us to get the special heart-shaped valentines chocolate mousse with milk chocolate candies. I don't like too much chocolate but it was still a nice sweet dish to share. Overall, it was a really good choice for dinner and I'm so glad he took me there. However, their cheese platter was very plain, and for $18, you can get much better selection of cheeses than the boring Brie, goat cheese and truffle cheddar they offered at the store. We went for brunch and I'm not sure if they weren't adequately staffed (but we did make reservations), or if our waiter just sucked, but it took 25 minutes before he came to take our order. I spent the majority of the meal with an empty water glass and he never even asked if our table wanted to split the checks, he just showed up randomly with one check for the table. The eggs, biscuits and gravy were definitely the canned cheap stuff. I had the chicken fried chicken and it was very tough, I was also only given a butter knife to try to hack at it with. Gave him another card, paid, left. Called the automated card service. Card was fine. Went by the bank right after that asking them for an explanation. Bank manager got the credit card people on line. They said the waiter had been entering in the wrong expiration dates. Card was fine. So... why is the resturant entering the card data instead of swiping? Don't they know entering CC info is a "card not present" rate which is higher than swiping? Called the restaurant, asked to speak to the manager. Told her what happened. Response was "sorry". This is the second time I'm reviewing this place I believe, and I am yet again amazingly underwhelmed. The very first time we came here the service and food merited five stars, however, every time after that has been disappointing. Our server was either new, or just incredibly forgetful. I had to ask him twice for almost everything. I got the ahi tuna, and when I asked for wasabi, he looked at me sideways and said he didn't think they had any, but he would check. When he returned he said "we don't have any prepared and it would take about 20 minutes and I'm sure you'll be gone by then" and then just walked away. What?
