I happened to be staying in Dallas for work and we took our entire department here for a nice dinner. I'm always very cautious when I go to restaurants with a steakhouse vibe but I was thoroughly impressed, surprisingly, with the seafood trio that I had while I was here. Food: I ordered the seafood trio which came with sea bass, shrimp, scallops, and asparagus. out of the entire meal the sea bass really was the star and it tasted phenomenal! It was cooked very well and had an amazing sauce! It just melted in your mouth! The shrimp and scallops were tasty, but nothing too special. The star: Rockefeller Oysters! I consider myself a lover of oysters and these were some of the best rockefeller oysters I've ever had! Definitely recommend! Value: This is a steakhouse so expectations of costs were already high. I think based off of what I ordered all the food was worth what we paid for. Service: we came with a group of 24 so we had already had expected that service would be slow but we were thoroughly surprised and how attentive the staff was with multiple wait staff checking on us on a regular basis. UPDATE 5/26/18: Added pictures of my froze' drink, chicken and waffles along with the smoked Gouda Mac and cheese. The waffle was too dense for me but the chicken was good (with some tabasco sauce) and the bacon syrup was delicious. Next time I'd probably have them omit the waffles and just get the chicken with Mac and cheese. I absolutely love going here for brunch. The food is terrific on both taste and presentation. The drinks are on point and the service is as well. I went with a few girlfriends for brunch. I ordered a few mimosas, the steak omelet and the mac-n-cheese. The mac is to die for!!!! I came here from McKinney to meet family for brunch and appreciated that the restaurant was just off the freeway and easy to access and find. A few of us ordered the tomahawk pork chop and were incredibly impressed with the presentation (there's something great about a piece of meat with bone sticking out of it). We were even more impressed by how delicious it was and happily picked up the bone to gnaw off every last bit . My boyfriend enjoyed the Scottish salmon, which was cooked very well and not overly seasoned. Everyone at the table shared the cinnamon roll bread pudding which was really good. We couldn't taste too much cinnamon and wished that there were some raisins in it. I would recommend it. I appreciated that the waiter Jimmy was very knowledgeable and was ready to recommend his favorite items from both the brunch, lunch and dessert menus. Our servers name was Ashley and she was fabulous! She normally works dinner so we were glad to be her first brunch customers. We had the mimosa deal which is a $15 bottle of sparkling. Food was mediocre and not worth the price that you pay. The calamari appetizer was not anything special and did not come with enough pieces of the calamari. The chargrilled oysters were covered in sauce and that was all you tasted. You could have replaced the oyster with bread and it would have tasted the same. The macaroni was bland. It needed more salt and flavor. As for the entrees, I got the strip and split it with my partner. We thought it was okay and someone got the Wagyu which would have been a better option. I found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try since it was so highly rated and the pictures looked so yummy. My husband and I had our weekly date here last Friday night. After looking at the amazing pictures folks had posted then seeing what they had to offer on their dinner menu I was honestly a bit disappointed. Perhaps that was caused by my own fault because I didn't realize they had separate menus for lunch and dinner. Lunch is more laid back while dinner has more of an adult feel to it. Dinner is more of a dressed up kinda thing so you might want to consider wearing nice looking clothing. Our waiter was very kind and kept our drinks full for the most part. There was a couple times my husband ran out of his drink and had to wait for the waiter to return otherwise the service was good. We ordered an appetizer of their amazing mac & cheese and it was amazing. I got the 14 ounce ribeye and au gratin potatoes. The potatoes were to die. The steak had good flavor but I asked for medium/well and ended up with A LOT of red meat in the center which grossed me out. After paying $36 for the meal I should have threw my policy of not returned food out the window and asked them for another steak cooked the way I wanted. My husband had the Chilean sea bass and was very happy with his meal. Neither of us had desert. I ended up bringing home my leftovers and Hubby ate them the next day for lunch. At this point I know I will definitely not return when the dinner menu is offered. I hope to try their lunch food some day. read more

Our son and his family flew into DFW airport from Germany and had about a 9 hour layover before flying on to Colorado, so we took the opportunity to take them (Along with our other son and his family all out to supper. We made reservations at Winewood for the 9 if us, and it was a great experience. We had never visited Winewood, so we weren't sure what to expect. It is an upscale restaurant (Meaning quite pricey), with a dress code, and a very attentive wait staff. I can't really say enough good about the way we were treated. They were extremely proficient, knowing, polite, professional, and friendly. They catered to our every request very quickly. The food was very good with one exception: When I pay $65 for a Wagyu Rib Eye, I don't expect to have to saw my way through it. The flavor was great, but one tough steak. I can only hope that this was a rare occurrence and only a fluke. Everyone else's food was fantastic. Great flavors and plentiful, unlike some high end restaurants that serve tiny portions. So, except for the one tough steak, our visit to Winewood was fantastic. I highly recommend Winewood for upscale dining. read more

Stumbled upon this gem last night while on a mission to satisfy a late night craving. I booked a reservation on OpenTable, missed my exit and made it there 18 minutes late with only 12 minutes till Kitchen closed at 10pm AND THEY STILL LET ME IN!!! Our host checked me in and reassured me that all was well. First of all this is a beautiful space with a hip & intimate ambiance that flows perfectly together! Our waiter Brandy was the epitome of excellence--she customized my ginger beer, fresh lime juice with mint and basil mock-tail to perfection. I noticed that WINEWOOD offered a New Zealand Rack of Lamb served with Brussels sprouts (sauteed with white wine and garlic) and fingerling potatoes on the menu so HOW COULD I SAY NO!?! I added the mac and cheese as a side because WHY NOT? I could smell the aromatic flavors of my lamb as it was being carried to my table. It was cooked to perfection (medium rare)--each bite tender and juicy. The mac and cheese made from smoked Gouda leaves you wanting more. Simply put, i cleared my plate! For Dessert, I had the key lime pie which had a sharp tart taste I absolutely LOVE!! Overall, I had a fantastic meal with unprecedented professionalism and service that made this a memorable dining experience! Now, the team doesn't ask your name(s), walk away, stand in little groups chatting amongst themselves, and generally act like robots. I came for happy hour, alone while on a business trip. HH is only available at the bar area. They were completely slammed. Happy hour specials happen during 3-7pm on weeknights and include $5 house wine and 25% off apps among other things. Despite the bar area being very busy, I was easily able to find a spot at the bar and the bartender quickly grabbed me a drink, a menu, got my order in, and food delivered. I thought the wine was a generous pour - I don't mind! I had the famous tenderloin bruschetta, it was a little sweet for me. I'd eliminate the balsamic to tone it down a bit. I thought I might also have the spinach salad, but I found the bruschetta alone to be a pretty filling meal for one. Of course at 7:01pm the bar crowd disappeared almost immediately. Fine by me... I prefer a little quiet. I thought the bartending staff handled both the rush and the aftermath cleanup really well, except there was a guy who sat next to me at the bar for a while before walking out since no one spoke to him. I really think that was a combination of bad timing and not being willing to catch the eye of the eye of the bartender when you need something. I would have given it 3 stars, but it gets a bump for great music (except "Let It Go" came on.... at a wine bar...) and fantastic ambiance. This place is totally my jam. If you are interested in Wine and good food, this place is for you. Located in Grapevine, just off 121 and Main. Cool little hip upscale gathering of 2-3 restaurants. Valet parking is available convenient to all the places. Gorgeous, comfy dark interior. Very inviting, you just want to sit and stay awhile. The greeting staff extremely friendly and start out your opinion of the service very nicely. Honestly, if you have an interest in wine, you are in the right space. The servers here have all had extensive training and they are all passionate about learning and serving wine. Kudos to the sommelier for their training and the beautiful wine list that contains some surprise delights from all around the world, particularly some Chilean and Spanish reds that are really hard to find in this area. Not all of them are available by the glass, and Im hopeful they consider experimenting with Coravin by the ounce for some of these rarer finds. The food menu is very thoughtfully put together to showcase wine. There are plenty of red meat options to showcase big reds, fish and seafood items that pair beautifully with delicate whites. Pork, salmon, and lamb are available too if you are hankering a Burgundy/Pinot Noir. Entrees are gonna run you $25++, and the bottles of wine are restaurant priced (2-3 x retail), however, as I said, this is a special occasion place where you can enjoy some wines not many places (if any) will have in DFW. Like fellow reviewer Shanna H, I had mixed feelings about my visit to Winewood, and for some of the same reasons. Noise is a common complaint, even in finer dining these days, and it was definitely loud here. The oversized booth that my dining partner and I were seated in was too tall to allow either of us to touch the floor, and the table was pretty high compared to the bench. Perusing the menu, we both chose the Ancient Peaks cabernet, and found it to be very nice. For appetizer, we chose the calamari. Served in strips, it was flavorful and had a nice, light batter, but was a little tough in places. I don't think it was something systemic, maybe just our plate. Chipotle ranch was a nice twist, but marinara was pretty basic. For the main course, I chose a daily special of grouper with a crab topping and bacon wrapped scallops, on orzo. The fish was pretty good, very tender and fresh, if a little underseasoned. The scallops were huge and also quite tender, and made a nice accompaniment to the fish. Overall, it was a tasty, if expensive, dish I'm willing to give this place another try, but I might try a table instead of a booth, and maybe at a less busy hour. read more

My first time visit here was a few weeks ago on a Saturday night. Luckily we were able to get a table for 7 when we called a couple of hours out. The service was magnificent. I cannot recall the name of the gentleman who served us, but he was very accommodating and friendly. We sat outside in the patio area, where the windows have the flexible option to open or close or open partially even. The table shared bottles of wine, appetizers such as he tuna tartare and the calamari, all of which we enjoyed. My husband ordered the red snapper, and I ordered the New Zealand rack of lamb. We both loved our entrees. The presentation was superb on the rectangular plates, and the side items they came with complemented the dishes very well. My husband's boss ordered the Chilean Sea bass special which came with sea scallops. He said it was good, but there was a lot of sauce that masked the taste of the true fish. Like me, I prefer the fish to be as in its original state as possible with some light seasoning. But then again, I love fish and I love the taste of fish. The blackened snapper was served with artichokes, red onion, grilled asparagus & drizzled with balsamic reduction. I got to taste some of it, and it was good. The lamb came encrusted with fresh herbs, served over fingerling potatoes and brussel sprouts sautéed with white wine and garlic. I loved my fish more than my husband's (we shared). For dessert, we all split everything... the Brandy Apple Crisp was decadent but sooo good. I was too full to finish it, but it was a delicious few bites. read more
