10/10 in every way! This is my second time here and I was blown away! For starters, my server Gehrig was phenomenal! He made my friend and I feel like the only guests in the restaurant. He was very attentive and helped us choose the best entree for us. He was also charismatic and personable! I ordered the Redfish Pontchartrain which was an off-the-menu special and it was to die for! Each savory bite was filled with perfectly seasoned fish, crawfish tails, buttery shrimp, and lump crab meat. The creamy sauce on top was so rich, I couldn't stop eating! This heavenly meal was over a poblano rice that had a nice kick to it. I even had some left over! My friend had the Scottish Salmon and let's just say, there was nothing left on the plate but the lemon. For dessert we ordered the Brookie and Cinnamon Roll Bread Pudding. We love to come and order the jalapeño infused Mexican martinis(off menu), the calamari (unique strip style) tomato bisque, strawberry and spinach salad with goat cheese or the beet salad....for dinner we love the Scottish salmon, lamb, jalapeño onion crusted seabass, or trout, halibut....but the best best best....is the cinnamon bread pudding desert (off the menu). Eating out is one of our weekly pleasures and pastimes. We have our regular rotation of restaurants and decide where we want to go depending on what sounds good at the time. Winewood is in our rotation, as the food is consistently good, the ambiance is lovely and the service is usually balanced between hovering and giving us space to eat and talk--just right! Our dining experience last week was a 3.5 instead of the usual 4.5 at Winewood. The restaurant was busy, but that was not out of the ordinary. The food was very good, as it normally is. The service? meh. I ordered a cocktail and our appetizer was finished before it arrived. Our waiter apologized and said the bar 'was backed up'. A server, not our waiter, took the appetizer plates away and we asked if we should keep our forks for the main course. She said 'Oh, I will bring you fresh forks'. Did she? No, we never saw her again. We had to ask for forks when our entrees were served. We were not checked on once by our waiter until mid-meal. If there was an issue with the food it would have been very late to remedy. My water glass was refilled once, and I declined to order a second drink because I did not want to receive it after my food was completely eaten. A fine dining establishment needs to heed all three of the characteristics its patrons want to go there for: the taste of the food, the ambiance AND the service. I went there with a group of 6. The mixed drinks took a little while from the bar. The mimosas came out really fast. Our waiter forgot to put our appetizers in, but he made up for it and gave us a round of free drinks and brought out the Texas cinnamon roll at the end of us eating. So it worked out. Our food was delicious, I tried the crab cake Benedict! If you love seafood. It's a must try! The food was worth it. Not mad about the service, he truly seemed to make a mistake and made up for it. I have mixed emotions about Winewood. The food was perfectly fine here. In fact, my main - a beet salad with salmon - was one of the best I've ever had. Desserts - chocolate cake and lemon cake for the table - were slightly dry but not overly sweet. The cocktail menu was vast. So what's the problem? Pricing and atmosphere were out of alignment. The prices said "You are in a pricey restaurant" (i.e. wine by the glass started at the $9 mark so my salad and wine together, sans dessert was a tidy $27 pre-tip). But looking around I felt like I was in an upscale pub. Most annoyingly, loud (no sound dampening at all) doesn't begin to describe the volume. Toss in a musician playing inside (amplified) within the small passageway between the bar and restrooms and it only gets louder. And weirder - when I headed back to our table he was singing Puff the Magic Dragon. So was this a good or bad experience? I can't say for sure. I definitely wouldn't make a drive just to eat here again with all of the wonderful local places in downtown Grapevine. read more

Dined here for our 30th anniversary dinner. It was wonderful. They brought us each a glass of champagne when we sat down which I thought was really nice. I've been here several times and I love the interior and ambiance of this place. We ordered the calamari and the tenderloin bruschetta for apps. Both were good, the calamari was fantastic, so tender could cut it with a fork. Entrees were a sea bass and scallop special and the bourbon glazed pork chop. Fish cooked perfectly and probably one of the best pieces of fish I've ever had, and I'm from New England. Pork chop perfectly grilled and smoky. For dessert we got the creme brûlée and apple crisp. Both were fantastic. Great service, we weren't bugged or rushed, which is a pet peeve of mine at dinner. Love Winewood and will definitely be back. read more

On our first visit to Winewood we were very impressed. The bone in beef filet was the best we have tasted. Also the siracha calamari was tender and delicious, with the perfect level of heat. We decided to go here for lunch. We were sat down right away, however, our server took like 15 minutes just to get to us and get us waters. Finally we ordered that. The place wasn't busy so it was really odd why it took so long. He then asked if we were ready and we said we needed a few minutes to order. So my friend ordered brunch and I wanted to order actual lunch food. So he comes back a couple minutes early and says I can't order lunch but I have to order brunch since it was the only thing being served until 3. So I quickly chose. Server wasn't rude, but he looked like he didn't want to be there. He gave off the impression he didn't want to be there, bc the number of times he checked his watch. Food came out pretty fast which idk if that's good or bad. My friend got the chicken fried steak and it came with potatoes. The potatoes weren't hot, but weren't cold cold. Felt like they had just been sitting out. Overall this meal was good. It just lacked flavor. She really enjoyed the fruit that came with it. The yogurt poppy seed drizzle on the fruit was amazing. I ordered the chicken and waffles. The waffle was really good and fluffy. The chicken was actually spicy, which I like. The chicken tenders were way bigger than I expected which too was good. The syrup was nice. Not too sweet and not to thick. Overall I really enjoyed my chicken and waffles. Also the prices were great for the amount of food given. We had a group of 8 come in to eat for a Bday party and the service started out good, very knowledgeable of the specials but when it came time to order one person in our group was given the wrong plate even though their order was repeated back to them which isn't a big deal but we were still charged for it. I have had lunch here several times, but Wednesday evening, dinner for six was outstanding. I'm always apprehensive with a large party in a busy restaurant, but our service (and servers) were amazing. My steak was cooked perfectly, tender, and was extremely flavorful. The sweet potato casserole may be the best I've ever had. We also tried the salad, garlic mashed potatoes and the roasted brussel sprouts. All received glowing reviews from the table. I'm not a huge dessert person so I didn't try anything but judging from the empty plates, I assume they were good. We all enjoyed several mixed drinks and wine. The crème de la crème was the talented singer performing in the bar. Unfortunately I didn't get his card, but the event planner we were with did ( I believe). Great food and amazing staff! This location has valet which was very nice due to the cold weather. Went here on a date night and it was a great time. The restaurant was very full so even on a Monday I was glad that we had reservations. The bar was full and it was pretty loud at the front so I was glad that our hostess sat us in the back so we could hear each other. The restaurant is gorgeous and had built in gas fireplaces in the wall that made it so warm and cozy. The kitchen is an open style so you can see what is going on. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. I ordered a glass of wine to start and my date had a rum mixed drink. We had the szechuan calamari to start and it was amazing. It came with a sweet chili and spicy ranch as dipping sauces. The menu is not extensive but the items all look mouthwatering. I was debating between the lobster stuffed ravioli and the pork chop. I ended up picking the bourbon glazed tomahawk pork chop. It had a pineapple bourbon glaze and was served with sweet mashed potatoes and goat cheese, which melts in your mouth! My date ordered the 8oz tenderloin filet and switched out the mashed potatoes with the mac n cheese. Unfortunately we did not save any room for desert!! The entire meal different members of the staff made sure to come up and make sure we were happy with our drinks and food and that our water glasses were full at all times. This area is pretty far from where we live so I don't know how often we will make it back but this restaurant was amazing and worth a second trip! read more

Wow! We met friends this evening at Winewood in Grapevine. Where has this place been all of my life?? We started with the Bruschetta, absolutely a perfectly tasty blend of sweet, tender steak, and crusty bread. I ordered the lobster stuffed ravioli, and honestly I wasn't expecting too much. Most restaurants use very little lobster and far too much ricotta...the menu said it would be topped with 2 shrimp, again, I didn't expect too much. The shrimp were absolutely enormous, perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. The ravioli was more lobster than anything else. My only complaint was The portion size was so larger that I couldn't finish it all! My husband ordered the "Tomahawk pork chop. It was Fred Flintstone sized and he said it was the best he had ever had. His complaint was also he could eat it all. Our friends enjoyed the sea bass and the fish special of the night. I noticed they pretty much cleaned their plates too. Everyone agreed the meal was absolutely great. Our waitress was friendly, patient as we all initially chatted instead of looking at the menu, she managed to be fun and friendly without being overbearing or fake. The manager stopped by once to ensure everything was satisfactory, and they patiently allowed us to sit and chat over delcoffee until 20 minutes past their scheduled closing time. Excellent customer service and top notch food! We came here on a double date and our waiter was great. He was professional and gave us our space but still was ready whenever we needed anything. I had an amazing martini and my husband had an old fashioned which he enjoyed. We started with sea bass ceviche as an appetizer and then I had the New Zealand rack of lamb and my husband had the filet mignon. For dessert our table split a brookie which was absolutely perfection! We had such a fun time and really enjoyed the restaurant. They have an extensive wine and cocktail list. They mostly specialize in seafood but they do have other options and no I didn't have any wine. You think I would with a name like Winewood but that's what second visits are for. Our meals were delicious and the service was pretty good all in all I'd have to say that this place is a winner in my book. This restaurant should have been amazing. The location is great, parking available, nicely laid out/decorated, open kitchen... Unfortunately, the food was mediocre at best. Crab cakes were tasteless and full of filler, the ribeye was overcooked (ordered med-rare got med-well) then the replacement was cooked properly but for a $40 ribeye, it was tough and really inedible. Oysters Rockefeller were very small and again, not much taste and different from a standard Rockefeller. Lastly, service. Our server started off ok but once the steak was sent back, she was surely, and unavailable. We were also seated near the kitchen and the servers tended to congregate at one end ( service station I assume) so we got to see them eating and drinking while they waited around. Overall a very expensive meal that didn't come close to the cost and hype. read more
