After trying to find a decent place in Austin to cut asian hair (asian haircut), I found this place…read morevia Reddit and made an appointment with Sarah Kim via the website. She was running just a smidge behind schedule, but once I sat down, she asked me how I wanted my hair style to look. She diligently looked for the line separating my hair growth direction and used that as a starting point. I was pretty pleased with the haircut, but I was taken aback since I was told over the phone that a haircut is $25 and a haircut + Shampoo was $30. However, I was charged the full $30 amount for the haircut even though I never got the shampoo/wash. Other than that, I was find with the haircut and would recommend this place for asian haircuts. Just make sure you ask and confirm the price before sitting down.

The partial highlight that ended up costing me $762.50…read more I booked a partial highlight service and provided inspiration photos in advance showing a brunette with face-framing highlights. After nearly five hours in the salon, the service was completed and I immediately raised concerns regarding the harsh lines, visible demarcation, and lack of blending between my natural color and the highlighted sections. I also asked whether additional blending, such as a root melt, would help soften the result. Rather than discussing those concerns, there seemed to be confusion about what I was seeing, so I ultimately asked that photos be taken so we could review the result together. The attached straight-hair photos were taken at that time, before I left the salon. That's when "one" area was acknowledged and a few lowlights were added. However, the broader concerns regarding the harsh lines, visible demarcation, and lack of blending throughout the rest of my hair were largely dismissed. I was ultimately told the result was "not that bad" and that I might simply need time to adjust to having highlights. That response is ultimately why I did not return for corrective work. Had my concerns been acknowledged, I would have been open to working toward a solution. Instead, I left questioning how the issues could be corrected when they were not being recognized in the first place. The attached wavy-hair photos were taken two weeks later. By that point, the harsh lines, visible demarcation, and lack of blending were even more noticeable, leaving me embarrassed and self-conscious about my hair. I sought a second opinion from another salon, where the stylist immediately saw the same issues I had raised during my appointment. They explained that significant corrective color work would be required, expressed sympathy for the experience, and were unable to understand how I had left the salon with a result like this. The correction required additional highlights, lowlights, toning, and blending to soften the harsh lines and create a more natural result. Initial service - $300 Corrective service - $462.50 Total spent for an outcome that was not my initial goal - $762.50 Attempts to contact the salon owner through both Instagram and the salon's website gmail received no response.

I used to go to the other Korean hairdressers but she wasn't available that day. She was really good. I called before I walked in yesterday to make sure if they accept walk in and they available so I went there. I didn't have to wait they were nice she asked me if I like it a couple times but tbh I couldn't see because it far and i wasn't wearing my glasses. I got my hair washed quick. I showed her the VIDEO of what I want and she ok with it. Long story short I didn't like my hair but I don't want to tell them (my fault too, it kind of because they were so nice so I feel bad for them) but it really bothers me and disappointed. I barely get my hair cut here in the states because I'm scared things like this will happen. It was $65 and I tipped her as well.

So it's probably time I go public with how Martha changed my life with a Devacut. Over the years I've gotten a few compliments on my hair. Almost always the day of a blowout. After that I would spend hours straightening it so people knew I at least made an effort. Now I don't just get compliments on my hair. I have entire discussions about why my hair looks so good.....like once a week. EVEN ON DAYS IT AIR DRYED NATURALLY!!! It's not just the cut though. Martha took the time to explain the products I purchased and teach me how to use them. She even had free samples for some. I still use everything I sampled but it was nice to look before I leaped. Also, and this is almost as important. Their booking system sends you a notice when you make the appointment and a reminder beforehand. I was hoping for better customer service and a more reasonable resolution rather than simply being referred back to the refund policy. I hope they reconsider how they handle situations like this in the future and put more emphasis on customer satisfaction.

Tired of spending a fortune for a simple trim?…read more That's how I found Edith at Transformation Salon. $35 & I can completely trust her with my long, thick, curly, unmanageable hair. Upon my first visit, I explained how I hadn't had a haircut in a couple of years, but, I'm wanting to grow my hair out as long as possible for my wedding the following (this) year. Delighted to find a new bride, three other ladies swarmed around me helping with my makeup & Edith on my hair. I left there looking like a Barbie Doll. I was so under-dressed, I made an excuse to go out! Years ago, I'd stopped into a MAC store as a birthday present to myself. I let one of the consults do a makeup application for me to find the right shades. I got out to the car & immediately wiped it off. The eye shadow & liners used did NOT work with my skin tone or personality. When Edith did my makeup at Transformation Salon, it was SO me & just flawless. She even did my makeup for me on Valentine's. I've seen Edith several times since for trims, but, as she suggested, I'm doing the PM keratin treatments in between. I can't even explain how soft my hair is. We've only taken about 3 inches off, but, my hair has grown even longer & healthier. As a quick side-note: My 11 year old son has long, straight, surfer dude blond hair. We've had so many scary haircut experiences, that it's difficult finding someone he'll allow to cut his hair. He's seen Edith twice & now refuses to go anywhere else. He even asked for her card in case she ever ventures beyond Lakeway. Edith & I recently did a first attempt with my bridal up-do ideas. Edith has a lot of fun playing with my hair and has her own creative touch that I will be so grateful for on my wedding day. We'll also be doing an airbrush makeup application for the day-of, so, I'll be scheduling an appointment soon so I can see how it will look. I'll add a picture from our bridal up-do session for now, & I'll be sure to post another soon after September from the wedding day!

I brought my son here first, when he was a second grader, when I finally got sick and tired of the…read morechoppy hideousness that generally passes for a kids' cut. Here we are, years later, still going back for more. The entire Transformations staff is friendly and talented, but Julian is our number-one guy. I will be very sad when the rest of humanity finally recognizes that Julian is actually a god in disguise and for his own safety he is whisked back to Valhalla where he belongs. Not a very sensible fear, but still--I fear it. Julian is the rare stylist who hears beyond the nonsense of your words ("Can you make it short, but leave it long? And lighten it up, but no layers?") and understands what you hope to be wearing on your head all day. More than that, he has the chops to make it happen. Every day, strangers stop me to remark on my beautiful hair. I tell them to talk to Julian. I hope they do. My son likes a super short do that needs a tune up every six weeks. It is never exactly the same cut--Julian refines the look every time and makes my son happier with each visit. I go every four or five months. That's because my cut keeps looking just as awesome as it grows out as it did the day he cut it. Up to a point, of course. And then I am always happy to visit Julian again. He is funny and kind, fun to talk to, and always makes my day.
