But the Windrush Grill claimed to have a good chicken fried steak and it was laid over a pile of seasoned mashed potatoes and a country style corn, they had veggie options as well. Every bite down to the last was deliciously prepared and presented. They have a great menu so everyone will be happy. They have a full bar and wine list. Always out of beer on tap and service is mediocre. Quality of the food has gone down but prices remain the same. Dirty glasses pile up at the bar and there's usually just one bartender working her butt off with no help. The owner/owners dad is always drinking pretty heavily and doesn't help out at all. Was a regular every week, and sometimes twice a week. Probably won't be back unless I hear from others that it's gotten better. Came here for brunch and was told the wait would be 30mins which was fine. Ended up waiting over an hour. They can't say it was because of the place being packed because mostly everyone had cleared out. Had to grab one of the staff for them to finally seat us(2) Once we got seated, no one came to our table, we waited another 20 mins before I had to go make the staff aware AGAIN. Once we put our order in, we waited another 45 mins only for my shrimp & grits to come out cold. This is totally unacceptable and I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone. read more

I'm going to start with the negative first, but there are several positive points that will also be addressed. First let me start with the staff. We have eaten at this establishment several times. At least 10 or more, so this is not just a one time experience. In all those times we have never gotten a waitress who seems to care about our experience or even one who has a personality. What I've noticed though is that the staff is really friendly to some people, but I guess since my husband and I come from work and we don't look fancy because he's a mechanic and I'm typically in scrubs from work, we don't get the same treatment as what I would consider a more upscale looking patron, despite being customers that don't cause any issues and tip well. I'm not the first person to complain about service either, so it's nothing personal against any specific individual. It's almost as if we're written off from the moment we walk in. This doesn't keep us from coming though, because like I said there are several great food options. So we were in the neighborhood last night and decided to stop by. I wanted to order the tomato basil soup (the absolute best in Shreveport Bossier in my personal opinion), but was told that it was frozen and would take too long to thaw. I wasn't too hungry so I decided on the half grilled cheese and stated more than once no mayo or onions and a caesar salad. My husband got the club sandwich and fries. He absolutely loved his meal. My grilled cheese was less than desirable. I couldn't even eat it. Of course it had onions AND mayo. The waitress could visibly see the onions I had picked off of it. Every single time she came to the table. Not once did she ever comment or apologize that it was made incorrectly because when going back to the first statement, she really didn't care. It wasn't her sandwich, so it wasn't her problem. But besides the extras that I did not want, the sandwich itself was terrible. I have made better grilled cheese at home. This cheese was solidified. There was no melty, cheesy pull-y goodness. Just a hardened mess that looked like it had been sitting for a good 30 minutes. The caesar salad was entirely too salty. Needless to say, last night we left feeling extremely disappointment. Now with all that being said, if you have made it to the end of this review, I do recommend going and trying some of the "hits" on the menu that have been some personal favorites. Both Stacy's trio and the quesadillas are amazing. The tomato basil soup, as previously stated, is the best you can get in town. (If you know of some place better, let me know, I'd love to try it). It's has the perfect mix of cream and acidity. It's an amazing compliment to any dish or on it can stand on its own. The chicken sandwich and BLT are good sandwich options. If you're a little hungrier, I like the chicken fried chicken, shrimp and grits, or chicken and waffles. You almost can't go wrong with any of the sides especially the macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, or broccoli. And as for dessert, we like them all. There are still several things I'd like to try on the menu and despite the negative aspects of the experience, they won't keep me from going back. It would just be nice to see a few things change. read more

We recently met friends at Windrush for burgers on a Wednesday night. They have a burger special on Wednesday and it was quite busy. But, this time the service was great! My wife and I went for Sunday Brunch. My wife ordered the Crab Cakes Benedict. First, brought the wrong food out, but the waitress made it good. Second, she said the crab had a very pronounced fishy flavor. Crab is a sweet succulent meat, should never be fishy. I ordered the chicken fried steak w/gravy, 2 over hard eggs, shredded hash browns, and toast. The steak and gravy had no seasoning; thank goodness for Louisiana hot sauce, catsup, salt and pepper. However, the steak was tender emough to be cut with a fork, as long as I could the table rocking. We sat at the high tables in front of the bar. Had lunch with my wife today. This was my third and final visit to this extremely sub-par venue. It should NOT take 50 minutes to bring out a roast beef poboy and a cajun pasta. Every visit or delivery has been just amazing! We get the country fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy delivered and I'll tell you it is by far the best anywhere! Very generous servings and delivered in sturdy containers with never a drop spilled or mixed. When we come in , everything is always fabulous as well. I try something different each time just because I know how good it will be! You have to try the bread pudding. Absolutely fabulous! I am always impressed with the staff. Absolutely horrible. Worst dining experience since moving here in January 2017. My fiance and I frequent Frank's next to this establishment and love it. We are always trying new places. We went here today Sunday 7/8/2018 at about 11:24. We were given 2 menus, lunch and breakfast brunch. We ordered 2 waters, 1 bloody Mary with a Veggie Omelet and a Western Omelot. The menu clearly stated fruit came with the Veggie omelot, but when we questioned to waitress she said she would check and never came back. We waited 50 minutes for two simple dishes. The restaurant in no traditional way was overwhelmed with seating. We were not given water fillups, the waitress said our food was on the way out and 30 more minutes past. My fiance went to restroom and the host, was walking around he asked if we were ok and i told him no, we had been waiting too long for our food. He said he would go check and low and behold he came out with 2 omelets. One with toast and grits, the other with hash browns no fruit. We asked again for the fruit that was shown on menu and they brought it. The grape jelly and butter in plastic was thrown on top of my omelot. You should never let something that came out of a box touch food on a plate. The food was disgusting. Neither of us are very much at all. The place was cold and dark, the waitress did not have proper training and the one man that seemed to have any authority there did not come over and talk to us at all. The waitress should have had a manager come to us after I politely told her how bad of a visit this was today and that we were quite let down. She offered a free desert, but I turned it down. I did not even eat a simple omelet. I dont think their icecream would be even good. In the area this place is in, we know the community there demands quality. How this place is open is beyond me. This is only my second ever Yelp review that is poor and it bothers me to write it but, this Yelp website serves a purpose and if this place can learn from their ongoing catastrophes then maybe they will stay open another couple months. This place has everything. And most importantly, everything is good. Check out their Happy Hour from 5-7 pm where the "wells" are $3. Wednesdays they have 2 for 1 burgers which is always a good time. Their staff is really friendly, especially Elisha! She always makes sure I never have an empty drink.
