This place is pretty amazing. A really matured operation, and well worth seeking out if you are relatively nearby. We were on a cross country road trip and had limited time/flexibility for lunch - took a shot on this pace and it really worked out. Order at the counter, keep it simple, they bring it out to you in multiple courses. Definitely a strong local presence in the clientele, and I really enjoyed my cajun sampler. Prices are appropriate for scratch food and service like this - tough to keep places like this going these days. We had a great time, enjoyed the space, the food, the vibe and will refer to this memory into the future. Keep it up!

We stumbled on this by yelp. Decided to try it. Red beans and rice were awesome. The shrimp etouffee was wonderful. They serve fresh bread with you meal. Ours was warm and so yummy! Great service, great food. Cute little cafe where you could tell a lot of locals go.

Shrimp salad sandwich, chowder, and iced tea.

We've got family in the Bosier City/Shreveport area and I they realize a stop at Jacquelyn's is understood if we're in town. I just wish they were open for dinner.

Drinks here are pretty affordable and you get all the favorite cocktails like the Hurricane and Hand Grenade. Drink at your own risk cause they are powerful and pack a punch. You may get some sass from the bartender but it's all in good fun. As for food, whatever cajun bar eat you're looking for, it's here. Boudin stuff, po boys, muffelettas, and the gumbo/red beans & rice/jambalaya are all delicious here. Everything I've tried here is awesome. The loaded mac & cheese is one of my favorites; get it fully loaded with the boudin and crawfish; OMG! Vibes here scream cajun college bar with some sassy fun bartenders and a variety of patrons here. I've seen college students, business folks, blue-collar workers, soccer moms having a ladies night, and teachers unloading through refills of wine and hurricanes. It's quite a melting pot of people here and it makes for a fantastic time! BeauxJax knows what's up!

I had a beer by 6:42. We ordered the game day nachos and a sausage poboy. The app took 10 minutes and the sandwich 14 minutes later. The nachos were tasty ($14) but I didn't care for the Gator Andouille poboy. It was too salty. The bread to meat ratio was way off. ($14) Beers are pricey, but the live music is free. So that's a trade off. We stayed till about 9pm enjoying the music.

Lots of mainly fried fish options, with a few grilled available as well. Fried Catfish! Wonderful proper crisp but light crust on a best ever thick filet light steamed with great flaky large filets. Shrimp really good and sides and gumbo are just right. Parking looked full but plenty of table space still available inside. They are known for very prompt service and food, so they apologized when it was going to take 10 minutes as they had just turned in orders for 2 parties of a dozen. Prices are quite reasonable, getting homemade quality for just about a dollar over commercial chains, with plenty of food on the plate. Unsweet tea was just brewed and better taste than you would expect... Worth the extra short drive around town to get there, and quite fine staff as well. Try it, you'll like it.

Unfortunately, the experience went downhill from there. It took over an hour for us to receive our food. We ordered shrimp and grits and two shrimp and fish platters. During the wait, I asked our server twice what was taking so long. Both times, I was told that they had a large party on the patio. While I understand that large parties can put additional pressure on a kitchen, that really shouldn't come at the expense of other customers who were seated and ordered before or around the same time. If the restaurant isn't able to accommodate a large party while maintaining reasonable service for other guests, there should be better planning and communication. What made it even more frustrating was watching other tables around us receive their food before we did. When I questioned the delay, the response was essentially that "some food takes longer than others." I understand that certain dishes may take more time to prepare, but waiting over an hour without any proactive communication or explanation was disappointing. This was my first visit, and unfortunately, the experience left a poor impression. I really wanted to enjoy the restaurant and give it a fair chance, but based on the service we received, I highly doubt we'll be returning. I hope management takes this feedback seriously because customers shouldn't have to repeatedly ask about their food after waiting that long.

I was able to stop by about an hour before closing and asked one of the two ladies working there if they made their Cajun seasoning in-house. She confirmed that they do, and they offer both regular and low-sodium versions. I went with the low-sodium seasoning and decided to grab a few things to eat while I was there. I picked up two alligator bites, and they were phenomenal. Then I tried two Pepper Jack Boudin Balls, and those were even better. I could honestly eat those at any time of day and be completely happy with life. What really surprised me was how fresh everything tasted. Since some of the food was under the heat lamp, you might expect it to be a little dry, especially the alligator bites, but it was the complete opposite. The outside was crispy, the inside was hot, fresh, and flavorful, and everything had just the right amount of spice. It honestly tasted like it had been made shortly before I walked in. I also grabbed a smoked chicken wing because another customer told me they were really good. He was absolutely right. He was also picking up what looked like an entire platter of Boudin Balls, enough for a football party or family gathering, and mentioned that he comes here all the time. That definitely made me feel like I had stopped at the right place. The customer service was excellent as well and the ambiance is refreshing. I wasn't sure where the Cajun seasoning was, and instead of simply pointing me toward the back corner, one of the ladies actually walked around the counter, grabbed it for me, and asked whether I wanted regular or low sodium. It was a small gesture, but that kind of service really stands out. I also picked up a 9-pack of smoked chicken bites to try something different. Being a truck driver, you are often limited to gas station and truck stop food, and I get tired of that pretty quickly. Being able to stop somewhere like this and grab real Cajun food and smoked meats was a huge plus. I will definitely be back to spend some more of my hard-earned cash here. Great food, great customer service, and an overall excellent experience. It was truly a pleasure stopping in.
