Place was fairly busy on arrival so I was excited... no indoor seating so you order by driving around the building and someone comes up to your car window, then they bring you the food and bill- I think they're cash only too. No ambiance to speak of but the vibe outside is themed with a colorful cat. Over all it was ok a little disappointing honestly to my taste buds but maybe I ordered wrong ... I was told the pork chops are the big hitter here- but as a fan of Nola and souther cooking I had high expectations. They have their own way of ordering here, they have an every day menu and different specials everyday, so make sure you check the menu before cause they don't offer some things everyday. we got fried chicken , Mac n cheese , corn bread, cabbage, and greens - our plates came over rice and gravy. And the peanut butter cake for dessert. To me the flavor was lacking, the chicken was fried well but I can understand why they don't serve it daily, cabbage and greens were basic no peppers or onion I could see, the Mac and cheese was just terrible. It was watery and sweet idk what was going on there but I'm not for it. Corn bread was southern. The best part was hands down the peanut butter cake. The cake itself was simple and a little dry but the frosting saved it with a rich and sweet peanut butter flavor and nice creamy consistency. Pretty good!!! I was visiting my sister for a couple hrs and yelped this place. We had the smothered porkchops and the 12 shrimp. The porkchop gravy wasn't as thick as i like it but definitely good. I had the yams that were excellent and the cabbage that was cooked nicely. The shrimp was bland but the sauce they give you is live so it balances out. The peach cobbler was warm and the peanut butter cake was moist. Overall i would try it again and i suggest you do too! read more

I am visiting my father here in Shreveport, La from Los Angeles, Ca. He's been telling me about this place called Kat Daddy's. So, we finally went there today and the service was great. They get to you pretty fast. The only downside is the wait for the food. But, I was fine with that, after all I'd rather have fresh food. Once I received my food the car filled with the aroma of pure deliciousness. lol. So, after racing home, because I couldn't wait to eat my Fish and shrimp. So, as soon as I opened my plate the food looked so good. I mean I had a pile of shrimp, 2 fried fillet pieces of fish, cornbread, cabbage, Mac and cheese, and rice and gravy. Oh and don't forget the kool-aid (it was on point). Once I took my first bite I was amazed. The food was so good. The only thing I didn't like was. That the sides and the drink were a little small. But I know how to fix that next time. I will order an extra side and a larger drink. That's if they have a larger drink. We ate here a few years ago. It was awesome. We were told it was the Home of the Pick and Peel. This means they pick their own greens and peel their own yams starting at 6:00am. We each ate a plate lunch. One of us had Fried Catfish Fillets with Cabbage, Purple Hull Peas with Okra and Cornbread......the sides were great, the cornbread just okay and the Fried Fish okay but much better int the awesome Tartar Sauce that had a honey mustard flavor. The other plate lunch was Fried Pork Chops with Rice & Gravy, Scalloped Potatoes and Purple Hull Peas. This is some good home soul food. We finished it all off with a piece each of Peanut Butter Sheet Cake. This was a new one for us.......different but we ate it all and was good in its own way. A friend and I tried this place years ago. Based on that experience, I would not recommend it. If you have had the pleasure of eating or cooking "real" soul food, then this isn't your place. The "smothered" meats seemed fried and topped with a store brand gravy mix. A real cook would definitely know this. I didn't like the sweet potatoes either; they were too bland for my liking. The best fried chicken I've ever had. I've spent half my life trying to find fried chicken fried the way my grandmother fried it. There is something about Louisiana fried chicken. This has to be one of the worst restaurants i have been to in shreveport . I orderd the smotherd pork chops , with mac and cheese and beans . For starters the pork chops were so small. They also had a really bad taste to them and funny texture to them they were not fried first then smotherd , they had the consistency of being boiled first the gravy had a funny flavor to it like it was made with nothing but browning stuff . The mac and cheese had absolutely no cheese at all just big dry overcooked noodles with salt and pepper just disgusting to say the least like come on its called mac and cheese for a reason . The beans were salty and sweet at the same time not good . Also my meal came with two porkchops and I added another let's just say it was not three porkchops it was what I would consider one in total . All i can say is this is a hidden gem. we had the catfish dinner and the wings. the food was very fresh and very tasty. the cat fish was crispy and perfectly cooked and properly seasoned. the wings were battered just right but could have used a little more seasonings for a bolder taste. the sweet potato yams were very good with i big cinnamon profound taste, but yet still good. Macaroni was sort of processed but good in its own special way. but as a side not next time you search yelp enter local restaurants in the search window and you'll get a entirely different selection of places to try, that's how we discovered this place. read more

Ok i first want to say. Good customer service must run in this lady blood. I am driving cross country from Los Angeles to Atlanta. I get caught in a storm and remember my friend lives here. I ask where is a good spot she takes us to CAT DADDYS i walk in amd it feels like i walk back in time when things were easier. Good james are on the stero and smiles behind the counter.... Debbie seats us and explains the menu to the T. She doesnt ask my name but calls me baby "with a southern accent" so i feel like i have known her for years. I order the fish and chicken wings and boy is my mouth watering. She made sure everything was perfect and checked on me frequently. The fish and chicken arrived to the table piping hot. gravy looks perfectly glazed over white rice and corn bread is baked to perfection. The lemonade is to die for. This was by far the best meal I've had in a while!!! I had smothered liver with greens, yams, mashed potatoes and gravy. My husband had the meatloaf and same sides and black eyed peas. Ok , I think they call it a take it or leave it menu , went on Thursday, had a couple of battered pork chops that was just absolutely the bomb, I got yams and fries cause you know, you never know, so I didn't need the fries cause them sweet taters ,, also the bomb ! Love coming here the food is great but the service is not so great i stay way on the other side of town so it takes me maybe 20 min to get there when i do my food is never ready i have to wait another 10 min for my food. Four of us met for lunch today, together we had fried whole fish, smothered and fried pork chops, hamburger steak, pot roast, rice and gravy, mustard greens, cabbage, pinto beans, mash potatoes, corn bread, peanut butter cake and peach cobbler. The food was pretty good, but the service was TERRIBLE! That is why I'm giving them two stars. Good service is just as important as the food to me. The waitresses where NOT attentive at all. I went with four other family members, and I was the one that ordered last. They somehow missed my order but got my other family members orders. Attentive waitresses would have realized I did not have my food. All my other family members received their food. We waited for about 10 minutes before asking about my food. It was clear they looked over my order. We ordered at 12:30 PM, family members got their food at 12:55 PM, and we asked about my plate at 1:05 PM (side note: my brother in law had to go up to the counter and ask about it because the waitresses never came back and checked on us). I had somewhere I had to be at 2PM, so I ended up leaving without eating at 1:11 PM, but I asked my family to box up the food for me. They told me they did not receive my food until 1:30 PM. There were other things that happened, but that was the major thing that happened. I would never sit down and eat there again. I would recommend calling in your order to go. read more
