If I'm in Louisiana, I want Cajun food. And BeauxJax does not disappoint. It's a little bit tucked away in Bossier, but do track it down, only one of the doorfronts in the building labeled BeauxJax. I attended with a local friend and he confirmed this is authentic. The experience: Friendly staff, a long restaurant with a bar section, followed by the condiments section, followed by a whole other bar somehow? I didn't poke my head back there but I found that intriguing. More on the condiments: They come with any sandwich. I probably took unfair advantage by taking enough lettuce, tomatoes, and onions to make an entire salad. I then asked for dressing, which they happily provided at no charge. And sandwiches? Do get. Delicious bread. The default bread appears to be the French - you could opt for their sourdough if you like - and it's not toasted. I love soft bread, and the po' boy was divine as a result. I loved the boudin. I loved that they have alligator sausage in multiple places on the menu. I loved everything about this place except the fact that summer means just about all of the beers were light, and I had to hunt and peck to find beers more my style. Which I did. And maybe those beers are lingering as I type this review. But BeauxJax gave me the warm, fuzzy, welcoming feeling I love in a restaurant. A great stop in Bossier. Worth a detour from Shreveport. July 11th 2026. 6:35 party of 4. We had to park deep into the lot. The outdoor space was already lively. We chose a bench out back. Our sever (Twigg) was right on time. I had a beer by 6:42. We ordered the game day nachos and a sausage poboy. The app took 10 minutes and the sandwich 14 minutes later. The nachos were tasty ($14) but I didn't care for the Gator Andouille poboy. It was too salty. The bread to meat ratio was way off. ($14) Beers are pricey, but the live music is free. So that's a trade off. We stayed till about 9pm enjoying the music. read more

A group of four visited on a Wednesday night. We were seated right away and the waitress stopped by to take our drink order within a couple minutes. Everything was fine. Great service. The menu was interesting, with several Cajun-themed choices, as you would imagine. Nothing blew our socks off on the menu, but we appreciated the local brew selection. FOOD: I'm from NOLA and Lafayette, so coming into a Cajun restaurant, I had high expectations. We ordered their viral loaded mac and cheese, a combo with a salad and cup, and a po'boy with a salad. Overall, the food was very mid. My hibachi cup was pretty boring, literally just chicken over white rice with some peppers and onions, plus a side of white queso. That said, their house dressing was fabulous and easily my favorite part. The mac and cheese was also good; however, we didn't realize it was $17 for such a small portion. We ordered it just to try, so definitely a heads up on the price. Overall, I wasn't really wowed by the food enough to come back. SERVICE: Our server was super sweet and friendly, and especially with a big party, we don't have any major complaints. The only issue was that I didn't like how they brought out all of our food at separate times. Some guests were finished eating before I even received my food. I ended up ordering etouffee and a muffuletta to go! The etouffe ended up being my favorite thing that I got (not pictured because I devoured it). So we had a great experience today. I was told, you pick you don't steer me wrong and I think he was VERY pleased with this trip. The waitress was very helpful, he couldn't make up his mind between the Mac & Cheese and the Cajun hibachi and her answers helped him choose. Blackened shrimp and grits was a joke. Most likely Instant grits, tasted like some premade gravy, and tiny shrimp buried in salt instead of actual flavor. Order was wrong, but we were too hungry to deal with it. This is exactly what's wrong with restaurants around here--start strong, then get lazy. No soul, just dumping Cajun seasoning on everything and hoping people don't know better. If you've had real Cajun food, skip this place. Overrated and not worth your money.
