If I'm in Louisiana, I want Cajun food. And BeauxJax does not disappoint. It's a little bit tucked away in Bossier, but do track it down, only one of the doorfronts in the building labeled BeauxJax. I attended with a local friend and he confirmed this is authentic. The experience: Friendly staff, a long restaurant with a bar section, followed by the condiments section, followed by a whole other bar somehow? I didn't poke my head back there but I found that intriguing. More on the condiments: They come with any sandwich. I probably took unfair advantage by taking enough lettuce, tomatoes, and onions to make an entire salad. I then asked for dressing, which they happily provided at no charge. And sandwiches? Do get. Delicious bread. The default bread appears to be the French - you could opt for their sourdough if you like - and it's not toasted. I love soft bread, and the po' boy was divine as a result. I loved the boudin. I loved that they have alligator sausage in multiple places on the menu. I loved everything about this place except the fact that summer means just about all of the beers were light, and I had to hunt and peck to find beers more my style. Which I did. And maybe those beers are lingering as I type this review. But BeauxJax gave me the warm, fuzzy, welcoming feeling I love in a restaurant. A great stop in Bossier. Worth a detour from Shreveport. A group of four visited on a Wednesday night. We were seated right away and the waitress stopped by to take our drink order within a couple minutes. Everything was fine. Great service. The menu was interesting, with several Cajun-themed choices, as you would imagine. Nothing blew our socks off on the menu, but we appreciated the local brew selection. OMG it was amazing. You just go. We were taken care of by Mea and she was great. Had great answers to all our questions, had fantastic recommendations, and knew her stuff. We'll go back and ask for her. I had the Cajun Hibachi Bowl and wow it was so delicious. The portion wasn't huge, but was just perfect to fill you up and make you want to come back tomorrow. Friends had the 1/2 po boy and cup of gumbeaux that she couldn't get enough of. Another one of us got the loaded Mac and cheese with a cup of étouffée that she licked the plates clean. FOOD: I'm from NOLA and Lafayette, so coming into a Cajun restaurant, I had high expectations. We ordered their viral loaded mac and cheese, a combo with a salad and cup, and a po'boy with a salad. Overall, the food was very mid. My hibachi cup was pretty boring, literally just chicken over white rice with some peppers and onions, plus a side of white queso. That said, their house dressing was fabulous and easily my favorite part. The mac and cheese was also good; however, we didn't realize it was $17 for such a small portion. We ordered it just to try, so definitely a heads up on the price. Overall, I wasn't really wowed by the food enough to come back. SERVICE: Our server was super sweet and friendly, and especially with a big party, we don't have any major complaints. The only issue was that I didn't like how they brought out all of our food at separate times. Some guests were finished eating before I even received my food. AMBIANCE: I was with a large party, so we came in and out of the back door and sat in the back. I ended up ordering etouffee and a muffuletta to go! The etouffe ended up being my favorite thing that I got (not pictured because I devoured it). So we had a great experience today. I was told, you pick you don't steer me wrong and I think he was VERY pleased with this trip. The waitress was very helpful, he couldn't make up his mind between the Mac & Cheese and the Cajun hibachi and her answers helped him choose. Blackened shrimp and grits was a joke. Most likely Instant grits, tasted like some premade gravy, and tiny shrimp buried in salt instead of actual flavor. No soul, just dumping Cajun seasoning on everything and hoping people don't know better. If you've had real Cajun food, skip this place. Overrated and not worth your money. Based off my searching Yelp prior to my trip to the area, I knew this place was going to be a winner! We came for an early lunch (11:30) and the place was already busy! Because of my research, I knew I had to get the loaded mac. Ohmygosh it was so good. The seasoning was spicy and pleantiful. I ended up having about half of it to bring home for leftovers and it heated up beautifully. Husband got the half pound shrimp boil and liked everything but the corn. Visited on 3/17/26. We both ordered the 3# crawfish platter. Crawfish were tasty, each platter came with a piece of corn, and two potatos. We like to try local brews when traveling, I had a draft Ghost and my wife had a Great Raft 318 draft. The 318 reminded her of Blue Moon, I couldn't decide on a similar IPA for the Ghost but it was very good. I had the jambalaya and gumbo (in cup sizes so I could try them both) and my eating partner had the hibachi thing. Gumbo was kind of disappointing because i think they ran out of most of the ingredients but it was good for what it was. The jambalaya and what I've tried of the hibachi thing were ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. I love the sligh crunch that the jambalaya had and the tenderness of the hibachi chicken.
