Cajun eats and drinks? Sign me up! Whenever I'm in Shreveport, I make sure I make the trek here at least once for my Hurricane fix and Louisiana eats. Drinks here are pretty affordable and you get all the favorite cocktails like the Hurricane and Hand Grenade. Drink at your own risk cause they are powerful and pack a punch. You may get some sass from the bartender but it's all in good fun. As for food, whatever cajun bar eat you're looking for, it's here. Boudin stuff, po boys, muffelettas, and the gumbo/red beans & rice/jambalaya are all delicious here. Everything I've tried here is awesome. The loaded mac & cheese is one of my favorites; get it fully loaded with the boudin and crawfish; OMG! Vibes here scream cajun college bar with some sassy fun bartenders and a variety of patrons here. I've seen college students, business folks, blue-collar workers, soccer moms having a ladies night, and teachers unloading through refills of wine and hurricanes. July 11th 2026. 6:35 party of 4. We had to park deep into the lot. The outdoor space was already lively. We chose a bench out back. Our sever (Twigg) was right on time. I had a beer by 6:42. We ordered the game day nachos and a sausage poboy. The app took 10 minutes and the sandwich 14 minutes later. The nachos were tasty ($14) but I didn't care for the Gator Andouille poboy. It was too salty. The bread to meat ratio was way off. ($14) Beers are pricey, but the live music is free. So that's a trade off. We stayed till about 9pm enjoying the music. read more

A group of four visited on a Wednesday night. We were seated right away and the waitress stopped by to take our drink order within a couple minutes. Everything was fine. Great service. The menu was interesting, with several Cajun-themed choices, as you would imagine. Nothing blew our socks off on the menu, but we appreciated the local brew selection. This is one of our go-to restaurants in Shreveport. It's not necessarily gourmet, but you won't be disappointed with what you get. read more

If I'm in Louisiana, I want Cajun food. And BeauxJax does not disappoint. It's a little bit tucked away in Bossier, but do track it down, only one of the doorfronts in the building labeled BeauxJax. I attended with a local friend and he confirmed this is authentic. The experience: Friendly staff, a long restaurant with a bar section, followed by the condiments section, followed by a whole other bar somehow? I didn't poke my head back there but I found that intriguing. More on the condiments: They come with any sandwich. I probably took unfair advantage by taking enough lettuce, tomatoes, and onions to make an entire salad. I then asked for dressing, which they happily provided at no charge. And sandwiches? Do get. Delicious bread. The default bread appears to be the French - you could opt for their sourdough if you like - and it's not toasted. I love soft bread, and the po' boy was divine as a result. I loved the boudin. I loved that they have alligator sausage in multiple places on the menu. I loved everything about this place except the fact that summer means just about all of the beers were light, and I had to hunt and peck to find beers more my style. Which I did. And maybe those beers are lingering as I type this review. But BeauxJax gave me the warm, fuzzy, welcoming feeling I love in a restaurant. A great stop in Bossier. Worth a detour from Shreveport. FOOD: I'm from NOLA and Lafayette, so coming into a Cajun restaurant, I had high expectations. We ordered their viral loaded mac and cheese, a combo with a salad and cup, and a po'boy with a salad. Overall, the food was very mid. My hibachi cup was pretty boring, literally just chicken over white rice with some peppers and onions, plus a side of white queso. That said, their house dressing was fabulous and easily my favorite part. The mac and cheese was also good; however, we didn't realize it was $17 for such a small portion. We ordered it just to try, so definitely a heads up on the price. Overall, I wasn't really wowed by the food enough to come back. SERVICE: Our server was super sweet and friendly, and especially with a big party, we don't have any major complaints. The only issue was that I didn't like how they brought out all of our food at separate times. Some guests were finished eating before I even received my food. AMBIANCE: I was with a large party, so we came in and out of the back door and sat in the back. I was here on business staying close by and saw that BeauxJax was rated fairly high. I sat at the bar and Lily was nothing short of attentive and super kind. I knew I wanted catfish and gumbo and they have a combo which was perfect sizes. The roll was perfectly chewy for a Poboy. Gumbo was nice and spicy and served over rice. I ended up ordering etouffee and a muffuletta to go! The etouffe ended up being my favorite thing that I got (not pictured because I devoured it). I knew the muffuletta was poboy style so it wasn't the typical thick layers of meat and cheese and wasn't overloaded with olives. It was ok, I think I would have ordered the Boudin instead. Based off my searching Yelp prior to my trip to the area, I knew this place was going to be a winner! We came for an early lunch (11:30) and the place was already busy! Because of my research, I knew I had to get the loaded mac. Ohmygosh it was so good. The seasoning was spicy and pleantiful. I ended up having about half of it to bring home for leftovers and it heated up beautifully. Husband got the half pound shrimp boil and liked everything but the corn. He said that tasted of a lot of butter (maybe because it was sitting it it?) The place is big so it seems like even if you come at prime time getting a table wouldn't be too difficult.
