I have also ordered custom exterior doors and have been very pleased. For the price they are my go to...Delivery is slow for windows due to the vendors they use. I contacted several window companies around town, both local and national establishments. After being put off by some of the high pressure, in person sales tactics other places had, I found the approach that Brian and his team at Zen Windows very refreshing. I also saw that they were voted Best in Charlotte by Charlotte Magazine in 2020, and I wanted to support a local business if I could. Brian was very generous with his time, and it only took a few phone calls with him and a quick visit from his installer to get measurements for them to have all the information they needed. I was impressed with how simple and straightforward the process was. Another huge selling point was that I wouldn't have to pay anything until the job was complete, a big difference from other companies. The turnaround took about three months for the windows to be built, but I would chalk that up to COVID, supply chain issues and increased demand for home projects because of the pandemic rather than anything on Zen's end. Quoted turnaround times at other businesses were similar. Once the windows were ready, Zen sent a simple three man crew to my home to perform the installation. Each gentleman on the crew probably had 30-40 years of window installation themselves, so as a team they were pretty capable. In just two quick morning sessions, my windows were complete! I'm extremely happy with the end result. The windows are fantastic, incredibly easy to use, they look great (black exterior FTW), and I can already tell they perform much better than the old ones. While we were happy with the work, they charge outrageous prices. The spring was $200.00 and labor 400.00 for 45 minutes work. It took several calls to get the invoice and then another call to get the actually breakdown of the invoice and no one returned our call after we received it and had questions. According to sources this is really high labor for the job that was completed. We will not recommend this company anymore and definitely will not use their services.

Calvin was quick to come out after we called and explained the types of windows that were available, and outlined how the installation process would go. Their bid was not the least expensive, but was reasonable and we felt confident in the product they offer and the service they would provide. Time-wise it took much longer for the windows to arrive after placing the order, but hey, that's 2021 for you and while I don't think anyone expected it to take as long as it did, there was an understanding up front that due to the WuFlu hysteria, it would be impossible to predict the future. Go in with realistic expectations based on the current state of the world... this isn't the fault of Calvin and company at Energy Masters Direct. Once the windows had arrived and Shannon confirmed the delivery, they scheduled 3 days for installation a couple of weeks out. They showed up on time, and got the job finished in a day and a half. Having a half dozen workers on the job made it go surprisingly quick. Everyone was friendly and respectful. Installation appears neat, the windows look and operate great, and opting for the colored exterior really improved the look of the house vs. what it would have been with the basic white windows.
