Had a great experience with WindowFix's installation of our phantom screens for our french doors. I got an estimate ages ago (pre-pandemic) which they honored at the same rate. They kindly warned me that it might take a few weeks for the doors to come in, but it actually took less time than expected. The installer did beautiful work and the screens look absolutely as if they came with the original doors. He took the time to explain our best options for maintaining the screens and was thoughtful in off-setting the handle slightly for independent door usage. The doors work exactly as we'd hoped and at every step of the way, we had a great experience. Very pleased to have used WindowFix for this job. read more

Terrible company. They replaced a few windows in our apartment. While some of the work was done satisfactory, they messed up about 50% of the job. Most frustrating is that they broke two hinges on a window, their technician admitted that it was their fault, but then they refused to replace them. They asked for $800 for replacement hinges they broke, and then accused me of defrauding them when I confronted them about their mistake. Do not hire this company!!! They also installed a wrong window with a wrong tone, so now it sticks out as different when you look at the building. read more

I arranged an in-home consultation with WindowFix to install some window screens. They had me on their schedule for the wrong day, and I received two missed calls from their team when I was at work. No big deal--they apologized for the scheduling error, and we rescheduled for a different day. A few days later, the estimator was scheduled to arrive between 1-5pm. No one called, emailed, or showed up. I was home all day with my phone in hand, awaiting their arrival. Around 4:30pm, I emailed to let them know no one had arrived yet. No one responded. The following morning, they sent me a screenshot of a call log, showing "evidence" that their estimator "allegedly" called me twice and I missed the calls. They said they couldn't show up for a consultation if I didn't respond to calls. Except the screenshot was from days prior--when their estimator called me twice because they erroneously had me on the schedule. So yeah, you read it here first, people: instead of just admitting to a second scheduling mistake, the team at WindowFix tried to gaslight me with "proof" that they called me. But it was a big, weird lie. They simply forgot to show up, and were too cowardly to admit it. LOLZ!!! Here's the thing: if they admitted their mistake outright, I wouldn't have minded at all. I inquired as to why it was so much, the guy on the phone told me to reach out to the estimator which I did, he never responded. I called another company which said the crack was a "stress crack". I started my process almost 6 weeks ago with Window Fix located in downtown Brooklyn to repair 2 windows that were 20 years old. I needed parts for the crank handles and lock. Communication with this company and their follow up is horrible. Setting an appointment no problem, the tech came out looked at what i wanted done took pictures and said the office would get back to me. (Tech was very nice and polite) At least a week went by, and no one contacted me at all after calling and leaving a message they sent me a proposal and said it would take some time to locate the parts. All good I had to pay in full to start the process about $625 with tax and a technology fee (which is a fancy way to say it's a credit card fee) Again no one calls me I call them a few weeks later they tell me not sure why i wasn't contacted to have the tech come to install my parts. He comes Lock part is fine but both crank handles are wrong. He takes New pictures says office will call me. I wait a week or so nothing. I call again speak to a nice girl in the office she tells me that they can't get the parts and they will refund my remaining money and should have a check in a week. After waiting a week or so and calling I did not receive my check and they said it was mailed out. They said they would mail me another check which they did. They withheld about $4.75 or so of the credit card fee because they can't get that refund back once my card was charged. This might be long winded, but I am so pissed with the way I was treated from their office, and I even spoke with a supposed manager who also refused to refund me the $4.75. I will not mention any names in this post they know who they are. I'm ok with them not finding the parts, I get it the windows were old but at least CALL ME to let me know. The $4.75 that was not credited back shame on you. It's not about the money it's the point. Will never use them for anything at all. read more

Customer Service Agent for Windowfix was rude and sarcastic. He was one of the reasons I thought twice about hiring this company. The sales and project manager was polite when he arrived to my home. He kept his answers very brief but I would have preferred more information. He measured the windows with a tape measure and would only point to the side of the window where the hardware was needed to be repaired. I filled out a form in the beginning requesting an estimate and explained what quotes were needed. I was later sent an email by a Windowfix representative to take interior and exterior pictures of the windows to send online to the company. I believe they didn't want to come out to my home and realized that by looking at the pictures, it was not good enough to form an estimate. I called the company by phone and got this bad agent. I called because I noticed that the quote for the screens was not included in the finished estimate. I requested to pay by cash or postal money order which I had done with plumbers, electricians and tree pruners but they refused this type of payment. The customer service agent stated to me that I would have to come out to their Brooklyn office to make that type of payment. I also felt that they wanted me to cover the insurance personally through my homeowner's insurance instead of their insurance and bond. I believe the quote they gave me was overpriced. The windows that I have are sturdy storm windows and there is no broken glass. I would have requested that they update the insulation on the windows along with adding screens and hardware, but I think they would have preferred that I had new windows installed instead, which I didn't need. We are so happy with our window repair. The service was completely seemless. The technician arrived promptly to measure the windows and the manager provided a quote 1 business day later. The COI needed for our coop was accurate and submitted as soon as we accepted the quote. The rate was the best that we received from three different vendors. The rate is even slightly better if you pay by check because you can avoid the credit card fees. On the day of the repair, the staff came promptly, fixed the windows, and cleaned up afterwards. We used Window-Fix to replace just the glass in 6 of our windows 3 years ago and another 15 this past Summer and have to say I am shocked at these low Yelp reviews as we had a very positive experience. We live in an old loft building in Carroll Gardens with 15 foot high ceilings with 37 windows that were installed in the late 80's and since had all started cloud over and crack over. I am an architect and had called in a variety of vendors that I had used in the past and had replaced windows in our building before. Initially Window-Fix's pricing seemed outrageously high compared to other vendors as they were the only one requiring interior scaffolding and we almost skipped them altogether but then I spoke with the CEO Ernie who was very reasonable and attentive and ultimately we came to terms we could all agree to. Window-Fix's installers were very professional and fast (and pretty creative dealing with some unexpected surprises such as several windows where the trim had been installed after the window so it was impossible to remove the windows....yet they found a way without damaging our trim). Our biggest concern was that window seals might fail again over time (which happened to a few people who had windows replaced by other vendors) but after 3 years we had no problems which is why we decided to use Window-Fix again (we also priced out New Image who seemed very nice and others in our building had good luck with but ultimately we went with Window-Fix). One huge advantage we found with Window-Fix was that their factory is relatively close to our apartment which didn't seem important until they discovered a defect in one of their new windows after they arrived for the install. They were able to call over to factory (even though it was a Saturday) and have another window made while continuing the install. Just as they finished the last window the replacement window arrived so there was no delay and no need to schedule another appointment. I can't speak to their actual window system replacement or screens, but for glass replacement they were phenomenal. This is a horrible company to hire for a window repair. The level of unprofessionalism, rudeness and lack of respect for their customers is unprecedented. They intentionally deceived me in order to book the job in the first place. I strongly advise against hiring them. Here is the whole story: 1. They arranged for somebody to come in and provide an estimate for a repair of the metallic frame of a window. The glass was in a good shape, however there was a small crack near the edge, which I didn't plan to fix at that point as it was minor. The guy who came in for the estimate didn't notice the crack - although it was his job to see it and let me know if there would be any complication for the frame repair. 2. That same guy said the payment would be 50% upfront and 50% after the job is completed, in case I decided to hire them. 3. After I received the estimate by email, I called them to ask how long it would take. I spoke with Louie Rinaldi who confirmed it'd take 5 days to 1 week for them to receive the spare parts, and then we could schedule it immediately. Also, because the job was less that $2,000, their policy is to receive all the money upfront (!) 4. I decided to hire them as I wanted the repair to be done quickly, so I proceeded with the upfornt payment. 5. As I hadn't received any notification after 1 week, I called to see what was going on. Louie Rinaldi then told me it would take 3-4 weeks to get the spare parts. When I demanded to know why I had been told 5 days to 1 week in the first place, he unwillingly apologised - most likely to get rid of me. I requested to schedule the repair appointment in exactly 4 weeks to avoid losing any more time, but he said they couldn't schedule anything before receiving the spare parts. 6. They called me after 4 weeks to let me know the spare parts had arrived and their first availability for the repair appointment would be after 2 extra weeks. 7. Finally (and after all this time), the repair guys came in. After seeing the window, they noticed the minor crack and told me the repair process might cause the whole glass to break but that wouldn't be their responsibility. I asked why nobody had mentioned that in the first place, but they had no answer - nor did they care about it. 8. I called WindowFix and requested to speak with Louie Rinaldi but he wouldn't come to the phone. The person who answered the phone suggested that if the glass broke, I could further hire them to fix it (!) Besides the complete lack of professionalism, the level of rudeness is also worth mentioning. Everybody I spoke to in this company, from the lady that answers the phone to Louie Rinaldi who apparently has a managerial position, was extremely impolite - as if they don't know how to speak to people. Cavemen. At the end, although I had the option of cancelling the job, after so many weeks I couldn't lose any more time so I didn't cancel it. Completely incompetent. My co-op hired them to repair damage caused by a previous owner to the window trim. 1. After measuring, they came back, started ripping my trim out, and midway through they realized they had the wrong size trim (why even bother measuring?). No one called me or contacted me about shen they would return - I had to harass them almost every day and they finally came back more than a week later. 2. They did such a slop job. The sloppiest caulking I have ever seen and they left caulk stains in a lot of places. 3. They left incredibly sharp metal shards everywhere and was very lucky I did not step on anything. Don't waste your time or money, I went to have a single glass replaced. With that said I spoke to the gentleman saying I was coming from staten island and my wife and new born was home sitting upstairs (because it was cold...)i was willing to wait a few hours and if any way I can wait... absolutely not he tells me thanks Lerenzo::: but the kicker is i was told 50 bucks to change the glass about a week earlier being i couldnt get there sooner due to work and one of the glass was still in tact I went as soon as I was able to get there so when I get there the price went up to 65..it isn't the money it's the fact I was told something different and it wasn't even right glass. The worst experience with Window Fix.  It took them 5 visits to properly install our window screens when it should have taken only two, and over 2 months when they promised two weeks. The first time they came to take measurements for the window screens, they damaged four of our existing old screens and we couldn't open these windows during the warm and hot months of May and June.  When they came back a second time, they couldn't install the screens because they wouldn't fit properly because the first measurements were wrong.  They came back a third time to redo the measurements, but when they returned for a fourth time to install the screens, they refused to properly remove the windows in order to install them.  To make matters worse, they didn't follow our instructions to start with one of the windows where they had already removed and damaged the screen on their initial visit, but instead started with one of the windows that had an existing old screen in place and proceeded to damage that screen as well !  They finally agreed to come back a week later, but only on the condition that we remove the windows ourselves, which we had to pay our building handyman to do. Window Fix is in the business of installing windows and screens, so their refusal to properly remove our windows so they could install their new screens was beyond unprofessional ! Had measurements and plans for installation of 3 window screens and paid assuming 3 window screens would be installed. They only installed 2 and want to charge extra for the 3rd. Over $400 per window for simple insect screens?? Absurd. Technician contacted the office during the installation, confirmed with me that 3 screens were to be installed. He partially installed things for the 3rd window and told me they would be back to finish the job. Now the company is saying that this is false and want to charge me for the third window. Worst customer service ever. The make appointments and cancel after making you wait 3 hours. The unit was provided to them and the manufacturers requirements were also provided. It was delivered and installed. When I measured the window it was not the size needed. When I contacted Window Fix I was assured even thou the window was too small they guaranteed it would still work. Yes I paid! Yes I was forced to sign for the window before they would install it. Are you seeing a pattern? By the time the order and delivery and installation was completed there was no longer a need for A/C. I communicated this to my sales rep. Who by the way confirms everything I am saying. He once again guaranteed they would stand by the product. I hired a bonded and insured A/C installer who came and said this window is too small, second person to say its to small. Called Window Fix nobody there had a solution accept they would send someone out in 30 to 45 min, after an hour of waiting I emailed and called repeatedly to see where the service rep was nobody returned my calls until 4:00 pm let me know that nobody was coming today, then they said I could pay them $250 plus tax to see what was wrong with the unit. This was 3 hours after "someone was on there way". I called the manufacturer they explained what we could do. However it would require dismantling the frame. Then WINDOW FIX said a rep supervisor would be available the next day from 9 to 1 pm. I said that I couldn't wait 4 hours again. They then set an appointment and demanded that I confirm by 4:30 pm (this demand was made at 4:18) which I did. Then at 5:30 I was told the owner canceled the appointment. You tell me is this customer service. Let's not forget my stupidity was to have accepted the window once it was delivered and installed wrong. DO NOT LET THIS UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY FOOL YOU. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED I was never rude to anyone I was called a MF by Window Fix in an email. I used this company for their "Phantom Screen"--a great innovation for adding a screen door in a very unobtrusive way to an apartment door leading to a terrace. I'll say more about the screen and installation, but I want to start with the *amazingly ethical* move they made with my order, refunding the total cost for a second screen that we ordered, but in the end couldn't use. I assumed we would just have to forfeit the cost of the screen that was custom made for our door, but Louie fully refunded the cost of the second sscreen! And this was after he had been extremely patient with my putting them off for months due to Covid as well as dragging my feet resolving the issue that caused us to decline the second screen. I just read the poor reviews and clearly there is some difficulty with one (or more?) of their installers, but perhaps this is a thing of the past. The screen is terrific and the installation was good--there is a small non-perfect part in the molding, but I should have noted it at the time and I think the installer would have made good on it. I too was aggravated in 2020 when I didn't hear back from them for a number of weeks, but when Louie explained that there had been a lot of heartache over loss of loved ones among the emplyees, it explained a lot. Making the appointment online was great, and I had a good feeling about this company. They scheduled me for Friday 9am-1pm. 1pm rolls around and nobody. I call and they tell me he is running behind and should be there within the hour. I was not thrilled with the delay, but I just want screens for my window so I waited again. 2:45pm rolls around and call since nobody is here. The Rep tells me he is stuck in traffic and while they don't normally do Saturday estimates, he would make an exception for me. Don't do me any favors!
