I spent countless hours researching different window covering stores around Seattle (blind alley, budgetblinds, 3-day blinds, Costco, lowes, Empire, WESCO, and WindowWares) and immediately removed budgeblinds, 3-day blinds and Empire from the list (just do a quick search on those companies). We then sent requests for bids to Blind Alley, WesCo and WindowWares. BlindAlley and Costco was by far the most expensive (even our realtor thought it was too much). WesCo and WindowWares were more competitively priced (WindowWares was actually cheaper by a couple hundred dollars). We spent a couple of hours in WesCo and WindlowWare's showrooms. Both sales people were knowledgeable. We liked WesCo because the sales person was honest in determining our needs. The sales person at WindoWares was more passive, but presented us with the details that we needed to make our decision. In the end, we took some of the recommendations from WesCo and purchased our blinds from WindowWares (mostly because of the price). Measurements. I think one of the owners of WindowWares came out to do the measurements. He made some very good recommendations as to color, placement of cords, and types of window coverings. Time. It took approximately 3 weeks to order the blinds. I think this might be standard, even if a company calls themself 3-day blinds. Installation. Installation took a few hours, as it was just one person installing +20 window coverings. Cons. One of the shades was not cut properly so he had to send it back to get remade (he provided us with temporary blinds). They are located in Mill Creek. read more

We really like Hunter Douglas products and this is where we order all of our blinds (Duets). It is not cheap but they give you a Lifetime warranty for their products so it pays off. I did not give five stars because they are only open 11:00 am to 3:30 pm which makes it hard for me. Also the sales person is grumpy. read more

We went to visit the store to ask questions in person with the goal of purchasing motorized Hunter Douglas shades and drapes as we've just moved into our new home. When we came in, there were two other couples Gaylene was assisting. We patiently waited and looked around as she provided attentive customer service to the other two couples. As one couple was looking through one of the product booklets, Gaylene offered to take down their measurements so she may email them quotes. She finished assisting both couples and was able to begin assisting us. We began asking our questions and letting her know that we'd be interested in looking at motorized Hunger Doulas shades for our bathroom and motorized drapes for our bedroom's ceiling to floor windows. She cut me off and right away told my husband and I that we don't want to do motorized drapes because they are way too expensive. We were quite taken back by her quick-to-judge response, but politely let her know that we are aware of the steep prices for motorized drapes and are still interested in purchasing them for our home. She continued to tell us that it's simply too pricey for us and proceeded to show us automatic blinds and shade booklets for our bathroom. My husband and I looked at each other in shock that she would automatically assume that we didn't have the means to purchase the product we're asking about. In an attempt to not waste our time visiting the store, we looked through the booklets she provided for our bathroom shades and let her know that we'd like to get a quote. We attempted to give her our measurements, but she just gave us her card and said to just email her the information and she'd be in touch. We were confused as to why we didn't receive the same customer service she had given the other two couples that were in the store previously. It was pretty clear to us that Gaylene was judging us as a young couple who couldn't possibly be serious about purchasing these products, so we left the store disappointed in her inappropriate customer service. We ended up giving our business to Smart PNW, and couldn't be more happy about that decision as James & Jill provided us with the complete opposite experience we received from Gaylene at Window Wares. read more

I was experiencing a delamination issue on my Hunter Douglas blinds (the cells were falling apart) and called Hunter Douglas and was told they would replace them and I would need to bring them to Window Wares and pay a shipping and handling fee, they would be replaced, and then they would be sent back to my home. I gave them all my information accurately and truthfully. That was what was promised to me. When I called Gaylene she said to bring them in, and asked for a barcode on the side of the windows which I said my blinds did not have. I was told by Gaylene to bring them in and the cost to ship would be $35 PER BLIND (no way is it that much more to ship two sets than one but ok). I agreed on the phone. Drove to Window Wares. Gaylene informed at the shop 1) She would not honor the replacement of a similar style. I had to pick a cheaper model or pay $400 per blind (even though the style I had was what a typical consumer would consider to be identical and Alice from Hunter Douglas said they would replace them with the same style) 2) She didn't think Hunter Douglas would replace them (even though they said on the phone they would. 3) lifetime warranty for blinds only only applies to the useful life of the blinds and that is usually about 10 years. About a week later I received a call from a different representative at Hunter Douglas saying that Hunter Douglas would not honor the replacement of my blinds which I did not accept because that was not what I had agreed to with their original customer service representative. I am writing this review for 3 reasons 1) I am still waiting for Hunter Douglas and Window Wares to fulfill their original commitment to me. They are still in possession of my blinds. 2) To Hunter Douglas and Window Wares, I didn't appreciate wasting my time, 2 phone calls and 3 hours of driving only to have you not honor your commitment. 3) Anyone who may be considering purchasing premium blinds from Hunter Douglas.... if you see this review is still up.... expect to have a similar experience when dealing with this company.... read more

Extremely disappointing customer service. We emailed back and forth to receive a quote, and the went into the store this morning to place our order. We walked in as they opened, as well as one other family. The other family was greeted first, so we waited (only 1 woman was working). We were not greeted at all. A couple walked in about 5 mins later. The women working left the first family to browse, and immediately moved to the new, older couple who'd just walked in and become helping them. She never even acknowledged us, our wait, or the fact that we were next... although she was fully aware we'd be waiting longer. We walked out and drove to another blinds store, we're greeted right away, and placed our order. Would not recommended ever spending money here, it felt as though they picked who'd they'd help based on how much money it looked like you'd spend. read more

I live in California but I have a high-end view rental property in Edmonds. The windows all had very old style funky window frames and I wasn't sure what to do or how to cover the windows. I found Window Wares at the Hunter Douglas web site. While in town getting the place ready to rent I consulted with their rep Michael and he made some really great suggestions. I was not sure if the blinds would work or if they were within my budget. I was considering motorization but decided against it. The price Michael quoted me was a little higher than I was expecting- However, it seemed fair and I decided to proceed with the order. The owner of Window Wares came out and rechecked the measurements and addressed all of my concerns on how the blinds would set in the window framing. He suggested a color I hadn't considered. Then they told me the order was delayed due to out of stock material. When the blinds finally came in they took the old ones down, disposed of and the new ones were installed by their rep Michael. For some reason some of the blinds weren't operating properly and had some damage. So they got Hunter Douglas to make some new ones so my tenants wouldn't be inconvenienced. Window Wares had them rush them through. I'm very grateful as to how Window Wares took care of me and made sure that everything worked, and installed in a timely manner. Besides having good prices, Window Wares has great customer service and that's very important to me. I'm thinking about buying another property and I'll for sure use Window Wares again. read more

I wouldn't use this company again. I found Gaylene to be nice until I had questions that in any way presumed there might be something wrong with my order or the billing. Then she became aloof and slightly abrasive. The guy who came to take measurements was less than friendly, was in a big hurry and seemed completely unwilling to discuss colors, materials or anything else with me. Just get this style in white, was about all he'd say. I found him very off-putting. The installer even said, I wonder why he ordered these this way, didn't he tell you he could have done it another way? No, I said, he was just in a big hurry to get out of here. Finally, they never called me when the shades arrived. I had to call them. It turns out they'd been delivered to the installer days before (an independent contractor - BEWARE of independent contractors doing the work) and he was just sitting on them. He was clearly unhappy when he got here, and even said something like, so you're the impatient guy. In the past, I've used Blind Alley. Yes, they're more expensive, but they're prompt, courteous, meticulous and let customers know all their options. Everything Window Wares is not. Another "you get what you pay for" lesson in life. read more

I've looked at 7 different companies and Window Wares had exactly what I wanted at a competitive price. Gaylene was patient, provided me with quotes on 3 different types of window treatments. They really do have the lowest prices on Hunter Douglas shutters! Now I'm just waiting for my shutters to come in :) read more

We ordered shades for our new home with Window Wares in March or April. As soon as we said we had a Groupon, we were treated like 2nd class citizens. We ordered the blinds in April and still do not have them. We ordered the upstairs area with the same type of blinds through Quality Custom Blinds & Window Coverings. In 8 days, we had our blinds and love them and far more reasonably priced. Our entire upstairs were priced out less than the slider door and one window downstairs from Window Wares. Not a happy client and not a return customer to Window Wares. read more

After doing much research, obtaining several bids and reading reviews on various sites, we choose Window Wares to install our Hunter Douglas blinds. Being able to see and operate the various options in their showroom was a huge plus and both Gaylene and Gary were very helpful in guiding us through the choices as well as helping us keep costs down. Our blinds arrived within the timeframe given, the installer, Bill, called us, we set up an appt for installation and he arrived on time and installed the blinds quickly and efficiently. We love our blinds! After living with them a few days someone noticed a window with Vignette Roman shades and adjoining slider with matching material had the subtle stripes going in opposite directions. I emailed Gaylene who immediately responded that was normal given the 2 different types of window coverings, it can add variety and texture to the living space and to live with it for a while longer. She also went on to explain our options for replacement should we decide we couldn't live with it which were very generous. We decided we liked them as they are! I would definitely use Window Wares again and recommend them to friends. read more

We spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on blinds from WW and they are fine. But I needed some help to get one blind back into its bracket after we took it down for painting -- this would take about 5 minutes maximum -- and was told this would cost a minimum of $76. Very, very unhappy that these folks are not interested in doing a little customer service. read more

In October of last year my wife and I decided we needed some new blinds for our family room. We have always liked Hunter Douglas products and have had alot of success with them in our master bedroom and bath. We had Costco and Budget Blinds come out for an estimate. We wanted to finish off the family room with a sheer on the sliding door and wood blinds on the rest of the windows. We saw the ad for Window Wares in the Seattle Times. They suggested we bring in our measurements to the store and look at all the options they had with Hunter Douglas. The price was much less than Budget Blinds and slightly less than Costco. We decided to go with Window Wares because they are also a Hunter Douglas service center. We are glad we did. The blinds came in and were installed by Bill. He did a great job but one of the blinds wasn;t operating properly. He gave us a free temporary shade and sent the blind back for repair. Bill told us it could be repaired locally in the service center without having to be shipped back to the factory.A week later he came by and reinstalled the blind. Everything was done in time for the holidays! We couldnt be happier with the prices and service. read more
