This is a follow up to my struggle to get my limping dog seen. I get her an appointment with another Vet's office on Preston Road just past El Dorado in Frisco, and wow so professional over the phone. A new patient file was opened, I was able to email all her records to them and they actually replied to my email. They confirmed her appointment that same day by text! When it was time for her to be seen, we went back and they actually had read her prior history of no lameness and asked questions about her activity of that day. After a short time of tests, it was confirmed that she had torn her ACL and will require a very expensive surgery. So, because Windmill Vet was so "busy" learning a new computer and they had patients getting vaccines that day, my dog would have to suffer with a torn ACL, no pain meds or diagnosis until they could squeeze her in 6 days later. Priorities priorities. Bottom line, if you have a puppy or kitten that needs shots & worming, this is the place. Anything past that is a crapshoot. Pet records won't be updated, the Vet probably won't be there next time you go in and getting an appointment will be a struggle because of ineptitude of their people. It's a shame about Windmill Vet but I should have known better; I wanted to have my dog neutered and they told me I had to call the Frisco office to make arrangements for his surgery in FRISCO. Yep, you got it, Frisco. I was told they just didn't have a Vet in Prosper to do surgery. Like seriously? I could go on and on with events like this but if anyone reads this and realizes that Windmill Vet Clinic is a waste of time, then my frustration was worth it.

Had a terrible experience on the phone with a lady named Bella. She was extremely rude.

A week later I receive a letter in the mail from the Center letting me know they were sorry for my loss and all the staff signed it.

When I received Grizzly post tidy up he was shaking, still wet, and digging his claws into me. Once home I had to blow dry him myself only to discover he had 2 cuts. One inside of his ear and another on his inner leg. I expected a tidy trim but he had been completely shaved from belly button down and his entire tail hair had been cut off into a stub instead of trimmed. The groomer nor front desk associate mentioned anything and when I called to speak with management, I was told they would call back. It's now been 2 days with no returned call or concern for their negligence. $170 later and my dog has an uneven and unattractive underbelly and backside, shorter ear fluff (when we never asked for this to be cut) and trauma from being nicked in the process. For the price you can go somewhere that will actually care for your fur baby and communicate when things don't go as planned.

But after we got home, we noticed two patches on Murphy's back, which was concerning. What bothered us most was that no one mentioned it to us at pickup. Even if it was minor, we should have been told. Just sharing this because better communication would have made a big difference.

I am absolutely devastated by what happened to my dog under Helen's care. I trusted her to groom my…read morebeloved Bernese Mountain Dog, but instead, he was left injured and sick. She used harsh chemicals on him and left them on too long, which burned and irritated his skin. On top of that, she aggressively scratched him with deshedding tools, leaving him raw and in pain. Within 24 hours, my sweet happy and energetic dog became lethargic and very unwell, barely able to move and not eating or drinking. We had to rush him to the emergency vet, where we were told that his rash and sickness were caused by contaminated grooming tools and/or the harsh deshedding products that were left on him. I asked all the questions and double checked that there was nothing else that could have caused this and he doubled down on the groomer causing this harm. Hearing this from a medical professional broke my heart -- my dog suffered because of carelessness and disregard. No pet owner and more importantly no pet should ever have to go through what we did. I entrusted Helen with the health and safety of my dog, and instead, he was harmed and traumatized. Please think twice before allowing Helen to touch your dog. Our pets deserve gentle, safe, and compassionate care -- not to be put at risk. Photo is of Apollo prior to groom and then another two photos after she groomed him and he had to have portions of his coat SHAVED off because of the burns and scratch's on his skin

This service was last July, 2024. The service was extremely pricy and not very good. My usual…read moregroomer was on maternity leave so I needed a new groomer for a little while and tried out Bow Tie after seeing the reviews. Helen was sweet and Jelly was not injured during the groom. However, Helen shaved my dog Jelly all the way down due to being "too matted". Jelly had been to many other groomers before in the same state (sometimes scruffier/even more "matted") and was always able to be brushed out and given a normal cut. (I have included before and after pictures of jelly -- you will see he was NOT "matted" beyond help.) All other groomers I've had take the time to de-tangle. It felt lazy that Helen decided to not take the time to brush jelly out and instead told me she "had no choice" but to shave him completely, changing the shape of his face and tail. If I had known she would've done this, I would've taken jelly to another groomer. It took months to get him back to normal. I showed pictures that I wanted jelly to look like and it was not at all. At the end, it ended up costing over $300, and she asked me to please leave a tip too. (My usual groomer is $100, and does a MUCH better job than Bow Tie.) I understand it is difficult to run a small business but I was upset with the service. I would only recommend this service to someone who just needs their dog to be trimmed, and might not be particular about how their dog looks after. Edited to add: the reason why I'm leaving a review months later is because I was showing pictures of Helen's handiwork to my regular professional dog groomer recently, and told her about Helen's reasoning behind why she "had to" shave jelly down (Helen is the only groomer to complain about this in the four years I've had jelly & his care is largely the same) and my professional dog groomer told that it was ridiculous that jelly was shaved down for what was clearly minimal matts, and that it was clear that Jelly was not brushed down properly by Bow Tie (maltipoos require wet brushing, not the dry brushing that Bow Tie attempted, because they have curly hair and not fur).

We have a senior mini schnauzer who has hearing deficits & is a very loving but Omega personality. For months, we searched for a groomer here but were denied (unfamiliar senior dog w/ special needs, sign me up!). We ended up having to go back to his original groomer whenever we visited friends. It seems a good groomer is hard to find & are in high demand. Then someone mentioned looking for a mobile groomer so I could be around if he needed reassurance while processing yet another new situation. Dexter was picked up after the holidays from a new boarder & definitely traumatized & very dirty. Long story short, Kontota returned our call promptly & scheduled our guy for the next day. Jacob showed up on time, listened thoroughly & despite the cold, made our guy feel as comfortable & safe as possible (btw, you cannot stay in the van but it was a nice thought my friend had). In the end Jacob went above & beyond & worked so hard. No mats & my boy is so much happier & showed up at our door to run around the house to play. What magic does this young man possess to take an older deaf traumatized dog & deliver a renewed wagging pup scampering again? Completely worth every penny & he is very happy to have Dexter as a repeat client. Our little old man is going to settle in just fine. Thank you Jacob!

I had requested a 3/31/26 appt and they changed it to 3/30. Why ask when you aren't going to allow the requested date? I also told them my dog was large, weighed 63 lbs and was an 11 yr old Golden Doodle. They also said Natalie would be my groomer. Then the morning of the 30th, they texted me and said my groomer would be Kaitlyn. She arrived on time but they set her and my dog up for failure because in the van was a grooming table that was small and apparently very wobbly. When I saw the table, I should've just said no thanks but I thought I would give them a try because of their high ratings and reviews. Kaitlyn called me about 5 minutes later and said it wasn't going to work because my dog was so scared being with someone she didn't know, she was shaking all over and the table was too wobbly. She said maybe I should consider rescheduling the appt. I said no, I would come and get her. They not only traumatized my dog but they also injured her. When she lays down, she can no longer get up on her own. It was a total disastrous experience; certainly not the smooth, wonderful experience I was lead to believe. I would never ever use them again and I wouldn't want any other beloved dog to experience the trauma my dog went through. Laura Baumann
