Whoever was on shift on May 3, 2025 at about 6:25 pm provided this experience for me that I can now relax and write about at Sonics: I walk in and the place reeks of either chemicals or road meat or a combination of both. I used to go to this place when I lived in the area and never experienced such a stench. There were two what I thought were customers sitting eating. One after several of my glances struck me as disturbed or worse, huddled over his sandwich drooling and talking to the sandwich. Yes. And the other patron staring at from the back while eating seemed angry. Then he got up, shot back his chair and lo and behold, this was the guy on duty - so he charges up to the cash register still staring at me like he wants to cause me physical harm and not realizing this is a guy can small talk with, say in a friendly white guy voice "wow sorry - trying to have a little dinner?" He kept staring at my like he wanted to deck me and shiv me or exact some other street justice. "WHAT!! " he barked. Gosh, Windmill Warrior meant business! It did the trick - his threatening demeanor (actually an assault under the law) did the trick and off I went. I have a lot of patience and empathy for people that work jobs that aren't much fun. But he doesn't get hired to eat on duty or out on a tough guy act to threaten away customers. If management reads these, you need to address this because next time he puts on that act, a less civil guy than me might take him up on what he's serving - and it ain't cheese fries. read more

These are hot dogs with history -- being a Jersey Shore staple for years. The grilled franks are terrific and although their cheese fries have legions of fans, spare me the Velveeta and just give them to me straight. It stands to reason after constant foodie fads (I would have been extremely wealthy shorting the cupcake craze) the humble hot dog is due for a renaissance. Please, let it start here. Truly, this was awful. The chili had no spice and the liquid goo nacho cheese was gross. They don't have sauerkraut or onions for the dogs as options when ordering online. The burger tasted like dirty grill and was burned to all hell. The flavor of the hot dog was bad, which sucks because it's oversized for the bun so 2 bites on either side are all hotdog. I have always learned more towards the hot dogs, but whatever your heart is telling you that you want, you really cannot go wrong. The hot dogs come with a myriad of toppings, whether it be chili, sauerkraut, onions, relish, WindMill has you covered. Get some fries, as well. Let me start off by saying I'm not really a big windmill hot dog fan or even a grilled hot dog fan for that matter but their French fries, specifically the cheese fries speaks volumes for this place. I generally will get a cheeseburger with cheese fries and am satisfied every time! The service is pretty good being that it's as quick as fast food and generally the same quality/presentation every time. The four star review however is mainly because the employees (at this particular windmill location) are never too enthusiastic or happy and I find the restaurant itself and employees personal cleanliness to both not be the best. Floors and tables are usually dirty and things are kind of just thrown all over the store. The employees tend to not switch gloves when doing certain things or rush through customers so quick they slack on basic food safety/cleanliness procedures. Regardless, I have never gotten sick and continue to go back. Would recommend to anyone in the area looking for a quick bite that is a step up from fast food chains, a jersey shore staple! read more

Wow Windmill is easily the best hotdogs and burgers in red bank, looks are deceiving but the burgers are PERFECTLY charred. I love that they have a bun with extra goodies such as peppers, onion tomato. The dog was awesome too! Although it was spicy it wasn't over bearing, just right and very fresh. Visited WindMill on Bridge Avenue in Red Bank, NJ. The food was great and the staff was super friendly. Will come again!

This is not my favorite Windmill. The workers are sloppy and are capable of screwing up a chili dog.

The hot dog was delicious. The place is a little dingy but hey, it's a hot dog joint. I went with the chilli hot dog no cheese and no bun and a bottle of water. It was still about $6 and change which is pretty steep for a dog if you ask me. Was it delicious? You betcha. The dog definitely had that crispy bite and that just salty delicious meat. It could of definitely used more chli, one half of a little ladle doesn't do this thing justice. If you're craving a dog this is your joint. If you're craving some lunch, I bet there are some other delicious options out there for the price point but man, hot dogs are so good. read more

We LOVE Windmill. Some of my favorite trips back to the Jerz involve visits to Windmill. (I grew up down the shore, and this was my "home" Windmill for a spell). For the life of me, I don't know how this one stays in business. With all the changes I've seen in Red Bank (especially in this last visit), I was sort of appalled by the lack of change in the mini strip mall that this outpost is located. Food is good, but I'd probably be better off not knowing their sanitation grades. Get the hot dogs well done (I prefer them burnt and ripping apart practically). And the Windmill cheese fries are legendary. I'm not the biggest fan of the cheese sauce types...but it's slammin here. Get them! Their burgers - traditional and veggie - are also very good. This one is sort of small for Windmills, and not very clean...but I mean, I was getting hot dogs, not sitting at Le Cirque. Plus it's close to the train, and we can grab and go before heading back to the city. That's why this is my choice for a dash and dine. read more

The burgers are nuked beyond belief and the "cooks" are agonizing & hovering over your food as their glutenous sweat drips over every inch of your soon-to-be disastrous meal. This is not capitalism, this is highway robbery. The local AG needs to be notified. Prices are through the roof! It's not a value meal. There's no drink or sides included. Can't say it enough...prices are incomprehensible! Furthermore it comes plain, on a bun that feels as if it will disintegrate in your very hands. I paid over $20 for 1.5 hot dogs & cheese fries; you do the math. Simply put, you walk out infuriated! Also, when you initially walk in, you're instantly surrounded by disgusting and even seemingly moldy equipment and signage. On top of all that, the distinct smell of methane is the one (of many) aspects that should make you run for the hills! There is not enough punctuations available in the English grammar that allows me to sufficiently describe just how abhorrent every aspect of the business is (if I can even call it that). As with every other WindMill, the food is over priced. 3 hot dogs, 1 cheese dog, fries & two drinks $30 bucks and change. Hot dogs are typical windmill hotdogs, fries are crispy. Food was fresh. But the best part of this place. The bathroom was so clean. Im currently 33 weeks pregnant so, I see alot of bathrooms... but this bathroom was incredibly clean which is a game changer. Was craving a chili dog for lunch and came here because they accept credit cards and they're a large parking lot (sometimes it's hard to find parking at Red Bank). As soon as I walked in, I was regretting it. This place is in major need of an update! Worse of all, a chili dog was $5.69! I think it's 2lbs of meat, but still, pretty pricey! The hotdog came out hot and the bun and dog were grilled fresh. I thought the dog and chili were decent, but I had a little difficulty holding the dog in the bun because it got soggy. The paper plate it came with helped. After eating this, I was still pretty hungry, so potentially if coming for lunch, you will spend over $10 for 2 hot dogs! They don't just make hot dogs, they also have cheesesteaks, burgers, chicken and fish sandwiches, fries, and even a garden salad! The food wasn't horrible. Next time I'll try a burger or cheesesteak. Nasty attitude from owner. About as welcoming and friendly as a rattlesnake with poison ivy.
