"Naked" chicken wings with blue cheese dip

I love their appetizer wings, they make a meal for me! My husband likes to get the grilled cheese sandwich with ham added. We were there around 5:30 pm, and the service was fast. The food came quickly! As for the vibe, it was mostly quiet, with the exception of the jukebox tunes.

    Stephine AVOID if you're disabled!

I visited WindJammer's last week with three friends. We were going to have a bite to eat and play their Golden Tee machine. The place itself is clean, rather dark atmosphere, cozy. I am a disabled person, suffering from a neurological disorder. I was greeted by a very snarky server who's name is Stephine. She instantly commented on why in the world was I wearing a light sweatshirt and gloves. Even though it may be a warm day I get cold easy especially going into a new environment that may have AC running cold. I ignored these initially comments and ordered a drink. My friends ordered their meals with one of them ordering a special to go. Stephine tells him, not nicely, that you cannot order a special to go but she will place the order and bring him a box. At this point she notices me sitting at the table but I don't have my shoes on. This is a result of my condition that it causes estreem pain. Stephine rudely and loudly says I have to have shoes on. I explain to her I'm disabled and confining myself to the table. She asks, do you have a permit? At this point I'm assuming she means a disable permit, which of course I do, however, I have no interest in doing anything at this point but leaving this very mean server. My friends embarrassed for me, pay up and we are getting ready to leave. Obviously this wasn't enough for Stephine who as I'm leaving says, again loudly, next time you come in here you better bring that permit, I'll not allow this to happen again. The food my friends had said was good. Nicely priced. Still the service cannot be forgiven by me. In all my dealings with Salem and may it be, bar, restaurant, or any establishment I have never been or seen a disabled person treated so poorly. If you are Disabled bypass WindJammer's or at least bypass Stephine.

I am afraid standards have slipped at Windjammers Restaurant & Neighborhood Bar. Pizza has been taken off the menu. Our server, Jennifer (a real sweetheart), was insistent that pizza has been off the menu for more than 19-months. Too bad, the pizza was something Windjammers did right. I've stopped ordering the Beef Stroganoff because the last two times I had it, the dish was a disaster -- gluey pasta and tough chewy beef. Very disappointing. Tonight, four of us met for dinner at Windjammers. Two of us had the Thursday Night Special: Pork Ribs, Fries, Coleslaw and Garlic Bread / $7.95. It was just OK, both of us agreed we wouldn't order the ribs again. One of us ordered the Pork Sliders, Tater Tots and Coleslaw / $6.95. The cook forgot the Coleslaw, (no big loss), but she said the Sliders and the Tater Tots (a substitution) were good. The last person ordered the Fish and Chips, Fries and Coleslaw / $10.95. He said the Fries were the worst he had ever had. They were cold, and he left most of them on the plate. All in all, disappointing. Two Star Food and Four Star Service (Thank You, Jennifer!)

I had read good things about this place online; one afternoon, I remembered and decided to try it…read more The ambiance is classy and minimalist/modern. It wasn't crowded when I arrived, around 3 or 4pm. Service was very friendly and relaxed. It had a comfortable, friendly vibe. It seems this place has a lot of regulars, because a couple groups came in after me and were greeted by name. It was Tuesday, which meant the Happy Hour menu was available all day. The prices were quite reasonable, and we got plenty of food. We ordered the Korean Street Tacos, and Curried chicken lettuce wraps and the cheeseburger with hand cut fries. Everything was delicious. The Korean tacos were a nice mixture of fresh veggies and rich meat flavors as well as some heat. The wraps were generously filled with a great classic chicken salad with curry, and had a great crunch. The burger was juicy and rich, was a good size and had a yummy brioche bun. The fries were cooked well and the ranch was creamy with a dilly kick. This was some solid food at a great price. Apparently Tuesday is trivia night, but we left before that started. This is a great place for some great food. I can see why this place has regulars!

Cozy and not too loud. Their specials menu of select food and drinks was nice, but I was a but disappointed to learn that the only non-alcoholic offering was a canned golden beer (and soft drinks, water - haha, per our server). They did have a decent selection of draft beer. I shared that many restaurants are offering mocktails and that they're missing an opportunity there. The table ordered a sampling of the menu; Korean tacos, Caesar salad, Mac & Cheese, Burger and fries, and Lettuce wraps. Drinks included strawberry lemonade, draft beer, wine, and ice tea. The Korean tacos were good, but not excellent. I think the shell could be improved upon, maybe a fried won ton? Maybe some chili sauce on the side? The Caesar salad was very good, but the mac and cheese was bland and disappointing. Overall it seems like they're working through some kinks. The server could've used some help, as he seemed to have the only one working all of the tables. No ketchup on the table for fries or offer of any. A condiment station might help, but the place is relatively small. I'm glad we stopped in and will certainly give it another shot. It's nice to have an affordable family friendly spot in Salem and I wish them the best of luck!

Their ciders are great, I tried the Viking Cherry Cider and loved it so much I bought a six pack to take home, at $18 for 6 it was still absolutely well worth it. For food my coworker got the Fish and Chips, deep fried in beef tallow for those who avoid seed oils, and said it was excellent. I had a caesar salad and fries to go with my cider and it was a lovely meal. This will absolutely be one of our go-to spots when in Salem from now on.

The inside atmosphere is sports bar fabulous plenty of seating for groups or couples. We shared a juicy hazy IPA and an order of scotch eggs while sitting on the patio, which is shaded and comfortable with both picnic tables and bar-top seating. I was thrilled to find that the scotch eggs were not only delicious but also authentically prepared. The yolk was soft and slightly runny, and the crust was perfectly crisp and flavorful. This establishment is a true hidden gem. While the food prices are a little steep, the quality definitely makes it worthwhile. We will be back!

The house-made tartar and fry sauces were very good. A full house kept the staff busy, but they were still attentive and friendly. A band was about four songs into their set when I left. The house sound system does a great job of making sure everyone can hear the band, but the overall noise level was such that folks had to shout to have a conversation. They do post an entertainment schedule, so if you go there to visit with friends, do it when there are no bands playing. From prior experience, I highly recommend the "Dave's Insane" sandwich.
