This neighborhood pub is located just outside the Oregon state fairgrounds with plenty of parking in its private lot. I was in the mood for some pub grub and decided to check it out. The interior is spacious with both regular and bar height seating. They also offer indoor betting. Be sure to check out their daily drink and food specials! Yesterday was a cheeseburger & fries for $6 (11:00 am - 6:00 pm). I got the special, a crispy chicken sandwich with fries, and six chicken wings to go. I enjoyed a cold non-alcoholic Bud Zero beer while waiting for my to go order. It wasn't very busy while I was there but I imagine that will be different today with their special Valentine's Day drink menu. Before I could finish my beer my order was up. yes this place looks like your typical dive bar, but it's not because the food is actually sO good! like might even be the best chinese food in salem good?? and at such a good value, great sized portions for such a good price. we had potstickers, generals chicken that came w fried rice and my friends both had a white claw - 3 of us ate for $30 and had leftovers! (if you like potstickers you have to try them here) but they have non-chinese food too, i had the crispy chicken wrap which was also really good! Scary! I went in, ordered a drink (made wrong) and waited for my boyfriend. Scared the whole time. We left as soon as he got there. None of the chairs match or even seem appropriate for a bar. And the general feeling of the bar just creeped me out. read more

I don't live in Salem - we went here before a concert at the Salem Pavilion (terrible place to watch a concert). Bartender was great, fast service and the bar food was really good. Happy hour domestic beers were like $2-2.50, which is pretty awesome, and it was full of happy regulars. HD TVs and everyone was having fun. It's a little rough looking, but nobody in there seemed to want or cause trouble. Eh, not my favorite place. Beers are more costly than at some other local bars in the area. Seating wasn't very comfortable. Seemed a bit dirty overall. Staff was nice though. It's a definitely a locals place, everyone knew each other and the bartenders. Also, a majority of the seating is allocated to a big family style seating table across the middle of the bar. Was there last night for the Girls Night Out "The Show" with 4 of my girlfriends. It was so much fun the place was packed to watch the Strippers. They could have had another bartender or waitress. But I will say the 2 they had working last night Dolly and Alijah they killed it they were fast and extremely friendly to everyone considering they were getting they butts kicked no one had to wait very long for food or drinks. Was surprised that they had a male revue show there its a small venue but everyone made it work last night. Again hats off to Dolly and Alijah you guys killed it. read more

First time here at Hollands at my husband's suggestion. I was a little skeptical as it looks faded and kind of old from the outside but we really had a great time there! There's a section on the center of the bar where tables are put together to form a long banquet length table where it looked like all the regulars know each other and are comfortably seated for drinks and karaoke which starts at 9 pm. We grabbed a smaller table near a window and got drunker than we've been in years with much thanks to the heavy pouring bartender! It's a big plus to buy drinks that actually contain lots of liquor! I got to meet a few of the regulars who are very chummy and laid back and friendly, or was it the alcohol talking? I don't know but I thought it was a great time with no drama and we will return once our livers recover. read more

Good little dive bar. Locals are so so, but the bartender girl is very attentive to her job. Always asked if the food is ok and never was my drink left empty if I needed a drink. I suggest you try getting there when the bartender "Squirrel" is on duty. Always Good friendly service when she is working. If I would of had more cash last time I was in I would of left her a bigger tip. "Sorry squirrel!" Next time I'll drop an extra tip to make up for it. Promise!! Her laugh and smile makes it bearable to rub elbows with some seemingly unfriendly locals. Ok bar when she is not working, and a Superior bar when she is working. Thanks Squirrel!!! read more

Well... I'm not sure what I could tell you about this place that would compel one to go out of their way to visit... It's a bar. Like many others. They lean heavy on the country and cowboy hats here. So you know it's my kind of joint. And for those keeping score at home, that's sarcasm. It's a small spot, but seems rather fun. They do karaoke here. So get there early... Because, at this place, EVERYONE freakin' sings. Everyone!!! Oh and if you do sing, don't do anything by Ace of Base or Dancing Queen. But that's par for the course almost anywhere. If going to a dive and red neckin' it while downing some PBR is crucial, then this is the place for you. read more

As far as dive bars go, this one checks off pretty much all of the boxes. This was our first year getting invited to a friend's annual Christmas Karaoke night. Holland's was the only place open on Christmas and having Karaoke so we all met here. The organizer arrived early to get us all a table and before the rest of us arrived, reported that there had already been 2 fights broken up, guess emotions run high with the bar flies during the holidays. It had calmed down by the time the rest of us arrived, however and there were no more fisticuffs during our visit. Other than a few other people in that night, our group of about 8 or so people made up the bulk of the clientele and imbibing songsters. We had a blast getting up and singing, drinks were strong, beer selection was small but had acceptable for a dive bar. Had a variety of fried bar food, tried the pot stickers and spring rolls, greasy, but good for soaking up adult beverages. Even had a few special drinks on the menu for the holidays including an Angry Egg Nog for which no actual eggs were harmed, booze and some whipping cream, and a hilarious Baby Yoda that was, basically a margarita but with lime wedges for ears and fruit eyes, pretty creative. Looking forward to more Christmas Karaoke nights and would even pop back here for a regular Karaoke evening. read more

I went in on New Years Eve. I had a margarita and decided that I would stay for another, so I ordered food as well. The pot stickers were delicious. Since it was New Years, I decided to give the change back from my $20 to the bartender. It was right about $6, and I had tipped $2 on my previous drink. I put my drink on the table and used the restroom while I waited for the food. When I returned, my glass was empty. Since it had only been a few minutes, I knew he would understand I did not chug it down and try to get another one for free. When I told him what happened, he told me "that's what you should expect". He didn't offer to replace it, or anything. I was a little shocked. The nice people at the bar offered to buy me one and I declined the offer. I asked the bartender if the bar was going to replace it. He again told me "that's what you should expect" and walked away. So... from the horses mouth: Expect your drink to be stolen and drank at this bar. The bartender will not try to make the situation better, regardless of the money being spent or the tip being provided. The owner overheard and also did nothing, so apparently she promotes the idea of "Expect your drink to be stolen here at Hollands". read more

The staff was friendly, drinks were more than fair, and the patio was charming. My friends had some food and they liked what they ordered.
