I really am torn trying to pick 4 or 3 stars. If I could have picked a 3.5 rating I would have. Decided to go with a 4 just so I'm not underrating. I love the prices. If it wasn't for that I would not shop here. I am able to find most of the items I need but usually end up at another store picking up the things they don't carry. I am disabled which makes shopping here hard on me. It's such a big store. Not blaming the store for its size. Just saying that having to bag my items is rough on me. By the time I've filled my basket and waiting at the check stand I'm really hurting. I get nervous I'll be holding people up. It's a good idea to shop with a friend or partner when possible but sometimes it's just not. I wish Winco offered bagging for an additional fee. Maybe one or two stations offering that option. I'd pay the fee in a heartbeat. I also don't like that most of the employees don't seem like they enjoy working here. Rarely have employees greeted me with a hello, can I help, did you find everything okay, you or even a smile. I don't think lower prices should also mean poor customer service. Really really appreciate it when I get a nice cashier. It's not often. I will say when I have to walk all over the store to find an employee when I need help finding something they have been helpful and nice. In general the staff just seems very unhappy. At thanksgiving time my items were about rung up and I noticed a tiny sign off in the distance saying when you spend this amount of money you get a free turkey. I thought is was kind of odd that the cashier didn't mentioned this to us. Glad I saw the sign. lol. Does self bagging mean self everything? Yesterday I went shopping in the morning. I wanted to purchase fish from the seafood area. It was being set up for the day. Seafood in bags on a cart being put on ice in the display. I was hoping maybe I would still be able to purchase some. Wasn't sure. Stood at the counter. Tried to flag someone down and ask. No one would even make eye contact with me. I waited awhile but gave up. Purchased fish at another store. When I was selecting produce a worker was using a blower to clean debris off the floor and blew stuff on me from the next isle. Lol! Please train employees on customer service. Offer rewards to them for positive feedback from patrons maybe? Something. When I shop at Savemart every one is so attentive and friendly. I have never passed an employee without being given a greeting or smile at the very least. It's nice. Lower prices should not mean common courtesy should be eliminated. I love Winco. Their variety is lacking a little bit, but for what they DO have, you won't find a better price. I would say 98% of things I need, I can get there. Sometimes they don't have the exact toiletries that I need, and for those few things I will go to Target. I also appreciate being able to bag my own groceries. I wish they would put in a more central location, but the drive still isn't terrible and I'll gladly do it to save as much money as I do. Also, a lot of the negative reviews seem to center around not being able to purchase alcohol without ID's for everyone with you. The cashier is 100% in the right on this, and has every right to request ID's for anyone that remotely looks around the age of 21. This is the responsibility of the cashier to make sure underage drinking won't be happening. Anyone that sells liquor should be doing this. read more

Went in to buy groceries also bought a case of twisted teas, my husband had his id I left mine in the car the cashier (Antoinette) asked for both so my husband went to the car to grab mine she then placed my drinks on the register behind her I told her we still wanted them and that he was coming back she said ok, when we he came back she told me to take the case to customer service and pay for it there, I don't understand why she didn't let me pay for them with her, I also heard her call for LP over the intercom so I was pretty confused by that. At this point I feel like it was discrimination because me and my husband are young and have tattoos and this woman is older. This is my store. I don't go anywhere else unless it is for a specialty item that winco doesn't carry which is not very often. It is always clean here and the people are helpful. The staff is helpful and the shelves stay well stocked and organized. The parking isn't so bad unless it's a holiday or the first of the month when everyone shops. Today my Wife who has mobility issues gathered all her groceries and was denied purchase at the register because all she had available was a credit card. Never heard of such a thing. I have been shopping here for many years and while I do like the low prices and the wonderful cashiers, my primary issue with the store is the on-floor and deli staff members. They are all so rude. So many times stockers will block aisles or areas where you need to grab something and will first ignore you if try to get their attention to grab something for you and if you do get their attention they act so put out that they have to help you. And the deli staff is even worse. You can stand easily 10+ minutes before a staff member will come and help you despite there being always 4 to 6 people working right in front of the counter. And today I learned for the first time that the deli counter does not open until 9am as there is no sign. Which would have been fine had not two women been standing there gabbing while I just stood there waiting and then one of them very rudely turned and actually yelled at me that they do not open until 9am. Worst customer service ever on 3/08/20 from cashier Sandra G. My family and I go to Winco on a regular basis but not anymore due to the way Sandra G. treated my husband and I like thieves over a bottle of alcohol. To be specific it was because my husband had ID and I didn't, which was fine until she started getting a huge attitude with us and flipping around her screen on the cash register to prove a point. And she continued to repeat over and over "I'm just doing my job" No once did she ever apologize either. She definitely need to take the customer service class over again. With so many stores having to deal with the panic buying associated with the Corona virus-19 outbreak, I have to congratulate your store on West Shaw in Fresno, CA with their policy of limiting the number of customers that you allow in the store at a time. The store has a "normal" feel to it rather than a horde of crazed shoppers with a mob mentality. Also the checkout lines are shorter and because of this and less number of shoppers than there were on Sunday people seem more tolerant of the situation. read more

Extremely rude cashier (DeAnn) and a ridiculously unprofessional supervisor, lacking in management, and customer satisfaction (Scott). It may not be fair reasoning, but I live across the street from this monstrosity and I'm kind of irritated by the way it's seemingly brought the neighborhood down. I hate seeing trash all over and by the noise I hear in the parking lot on the weekend, you'd think nobody has an apartment to go take their tomfoolery to. There are cars gunning their engines (because gas is cheap and everyone thinks you're cool if your car is loud and annoying), drunk girls stumbling around loudly exclaiming, "Heeeeyyyyy. Bitch, get me some fritos!" and the classy parents of the year, who have their three year olds out at 1am. It's just grating after awhile. That being said, the inside of the store has a pretty good bulk section and almost anything you could look for. I tend not to buy processed foods, so sometimes there's a much smaller selection for us picky shoppers. Things I'd like to see improve: - GET A FREAKING EXPRESS LANE ALREADY! I understand that you sell a lot of products in bulk, but there are more than a few of us who pop in to buy a few items, only to run to the front and discover we've got to wait behind three huge cartloads to buy $6 worth of tampons and cat food. (The purchases aren't related. I don't even have a cat.) - More organic produce. This place has been here for years and I've just recently seen organic salad and organic apples. I hope this is a sign of good things to come. - Shorter wait times in line. It's probably my fault for coming in here at peak hours, but if you've got 20-some registers..and if you know that the store is freakin' crazy with customers at certain times, it might be beneficial to everyone involved if you opened up a few more lines. - Not a big deal for me, but it's impossible to buy hard liquor at this store past 9pm. They seal up the service desk area, which is where they stock said liquor..and if you're late, you're out of luck. - I'm not big on prepped food, but their deli salads, meals, etc..just look kind of ...strange. Strange like you know you're probably going to get a stomachache eating it, but you've gotta get something inside of you or you'll pass out, so you decide to go for it now and hate yourself later. Things I dig about this store: - Leonardi's - they have really good pizza and sandwiches here. I'd probably get less stomachaches eating here if I slowed down, but it's just so damn good. - Bulk - you can find nuts, candy, pasta, snacks, baking ingredients, mixes, spices, etc. etc. etc. here. Try a little, buy a lot..just keep your dirty kids from sticking their hands into the bins to sample. - Beer - I don't buy beer here, but if I had to, I'm pretty confident I'd find what I'm looking for. They have a walk-in cooler, which also doubles as a temporary relief from the hot, Fresno summer. (Chances are you'll find me chilling in here, trying to bring down my core body temp. during the summer months.) - Cashiers - there are a lot of cashiers who have been here for a long time and once you find the nice ones, you'll want to stick with them, because they remember you. I particularly like a older red-haired woman who works there - I met her nearly three years ago in the middle of the night when I was on the way to the hospital, about to bust open with child..she still remembers us and asks us how our son is. While we're on the subject of cashiers, if you've got coupons, avoid Daisy like the plague. You'll never get out of there. Be warned that they don't accept credit cards here. To sum it all up - I'll go there for certain items, but I detest doing the majority of my shopping here. It's just too big, too ghetto, too processed for my tastes, but there are a few saving graces here that keep me wandering back in, against my instincts. read more

As of late I had been shopping at the Walmart Neighborhood Store due to its closeness to my home and it is by far less busy ... Less people, easier to find good parking.... But... Winco's prices were much better! The prices most of the time are lower than other places, but I always have to watch to determine if it really is a good price or not. Some of the bakery and deli items taste pretty good. The bagels it seems are made there, and are pretty good. However, I purchased a deli pizza there once, and the toppings were fine, but the crust was awful. I like the bulk items section; can find some good deals there. The cheese is less than lots of other places. The household/cleaners are just as expensive as everywhere else. Really good place to shop, as long as I am mindful of the prices I'm paying for each item. Out of the big warehouse supermarkets, this is probably my favorite. read more

I LOVE this store. This is where I do my big shopping trips a couple times a month. The absolute best thing about this store is the bulk foods section. You can save so much by buying non-packaged foods. I stock up on pasta, spices, rice, grains, etc. They also have a huge bulk candy section if that's your thing (not so much mine). I also love their produce section. Their prices are great and always cheaper than Walmart. Sometimes they will be out of things but I usually find what I need. I love when they have corn in-husk because it's cheap and good and not deformed like some of the corn I've found at Save Mart. I love how nice and big the aisles are here because I always need a shopping cart and you don't have to worry about getting trapped by groups of people with shopping carts like at Walmart. They have their own refrigerated pizza dough which is awesome if you're like me and too lazy to learn to make dough, but love eating pizza. It's less than $2.00 and is delicious. They have a great Hispanic and Asian foods section, way more than any other local stores I've been to. I almost always find exactly what I need for a new recipe. I also love their bulk cheese section and make sure to stock up when I'm there. Their specialty packaged cheese section is amazing, too. You can find flavored goat cheese, brie, gouda, havarti, anything you need! They always have plenty of aisles open at checkout and their employees are all very friendly and nice. It's an employee-owned company and it shows, because they really care about their store and their customers. Just a side note-they only take cash or debit, no credit cards, so prepare accordingly! read more

The prices are good, but I'm seeing more and more expired or nearly expired food which is a serious pain. Given the prices, it's typically fairly crowded during the hours we frequent (between 10a - 11a on a weekend) and the clientele sometimes make the shopping experience a little more exasperating (people that generally act as if their family is the only family in the store trying to get from point A to point B, but I guess that's really anywhere). Very convenient that it is located in the same centre as Costco. read more

Lack of training. I've asked different staff members and they said they're able to tare containers so you can bring your own and add bulk items so 1) you don't produce waste with single-use plastic bags and 2) it saves money. However I went to the cashier and she told me they can't manually deduct the difference between the weight of the container and the weight of the items inside of it. I called their customer service after my trip to resolve this, and they said: "next time just talk to the supervisor." You better believe I will bring this to their attention the next time someone gives me a hard time. Vons, Sprouts and Whole Foods all tare containers for you: why can't Winco? Seems a bit hypocritical, for a company that prides itself for providing bulk. read more

The cashier with short orange hair has been the rudest customer service person I have ever encountered in this entire store. She is not a face of WinCo and shouldn't be dealing with customers if she seems so annoyed every time I see her. I've tried talking to her on multiple occasions. Telling her where I work and her telling me my job is trash. Which I feel personally is not something you say. She's always really short and never looks approachable. She's been very aggressive towards me snatching the ATM away from me. Telling me my balance is incorrect although my receipt said otherwise. Ignoring any small talk I've tried making with her with scoffs and eye rolls. It makes me sick to my stomach how someone in customer service can treat a customer in such a way. This is your job. You deal with customers. It's no excuse to treat me in that way to where I am and have moved lines to wait another 10-15 minutes to check out to not have to deal with such a negative employee. Other than my terrible experience with this employee I still go even though it is out of my way. The hours are good and the variety is great. I am however considering visiting a different WinCo because of this. It is sad to say but at times I don't feel like I should have to endure poor treatment. read more

I like the meats here they are just as good as if u went to Save Mart. I like the fresh and frozen seafood selections. I love their bulk selections but have a fear of them being contaminated so I don't buy them unless the items are wrapped. If I shop here I have to bring someone along because there are no baggers and I spend at least $200 every time. I like to park near the cart corrals because after loading all the groceries and shopping at such a big warehouse I hate to walk any further to put my cart away. You will definitely save money on food here. read more

Staff has always been super helpful in helping me find things I can't find myself. A lot of the cashiers are also super friendly and fast. They have a wide variety of things to buy and even sell a lot of home cleaning supplies. The parking lot is very congested most of the day though and can be very dirty and littered with carts. read more

I do not like this place. It is messy and not organized. I bought some berries that were moldy and tried to return them. They took them back, but were acting like I made them moldy and had some plan to ruin their day. I had the receipt and you could see I brought them right back as soon as I got to my house. I give them two stars because at least they did take them back and give me some non-moldy berries. read more
