This review comes five years after my first review and I am still not a regular SaveMart shopper. My husband and I peruse the weekly ad that comes in the mail and if there are bargains, then we go get them. However, on this particular day I did stop into SaveMart because it was conveniently located as I had to stop at the bank and Kaiser. I figured I only two things so I would stop in and get them, which I did. 4/5 stars because I had to wait in line since there were only two people on the registers and lots of people waiting. This is the most well stocked, clean, frankly "upscale feel" Save Mart I have ever been to! I love visiting this location for our regular groceries, getting deals on their app (which I highly recommend- you can get a free item every week!), and sometimes just browsing, seeing what my little heart desires. That was definitely the case with my recent weekend morning visit! Came in while on a morning walk and grabbed some beverages and snacks. So you actually just need to go in for yourself, feel the good vibes, get those great greetings and interactions with the staff, and purchase fresh awesome stuff...but today I wanted to highlight the insanely beautifully stocked deli counter area! Gourmet beyond belief, and l've tried sooo many of these...they are delicious! Perfect to take to potlucks or just enjoy at home. edit: i don't think i can reply to reviews. but i called the 800 number and left a voicemail yesterday before this review. no one returned my call so I came to yelp. I live around the corner from Savemart, and I cannot stand coming to this location anymore. I will pay more money to go to Vons down the street because of Savemart's rude cashiers. A cashier that I keep coming into contact with is Lizette. Every time I'm in there she doesn't acknowledge anyone, doesn't say anything to her customers, talks to you like your stupid if she does need to speak, and 100% does not care about her job. Today she was deep in conversation with the bagger, naming male coworkers by first name and talking about their "fetishes". The bagger drew attention to her when I walked up. "Oh my god you're so annoyed right now. the look on your face." I want to add that I do not know this girl, but she treats me like I've personally wronged her every time we make contact. She should not be working with the public. read more

My father asked me to post because he is not good with tech and does not have an account. I went into my neighborhood, grocery store, where my friends and family also shop. It was the day before Thanksgiving and the store was packed. I picked up a couple things at the deli and paid for my items at the deli counter. Since they have added the turn styles at the door next to the deli I was informed I would need to walk all the way around the store and out the exit on the other side. I understand and generally not a problem, but I am a 70 year-old man with limited mobility, so it was definitely an extra inconvenience. But I smiled and complied. All of the checkouts had long lines and the only way for me to get through to the door on the other side of the store was to walk-through an unmanned register lane. I unhooked the bungee cord walk-through and hooked it back and went along my way to the exit. All of a sudden, I hear screeching behind me "excuse me, sir, sir did you pay for that?!" The front of the grocery store full of people Neighbors and friends stopped what they were doing and looked over in my direction. This employee was then running towards me and screaming at me if I paid for my items. Of course I had the receipt and yes, I did pay for them, but the scene that was created was embarrassing and unnecessary. And once I did show the employee my receipt she was still rude and unapologetic. As I was getting into my car, I received a text from a friend who saw the whole commotion and texted me " stop, thief!" of course this text was made in in jest, but to me, it reinforced the embarrassment of the scene. I'm not sure if it's actual Store policy to treat its customers with indignity? Perhaps an employee or security or someone at the door to check receipts like they do in Walmart, instead of sending employees running and screeching after somebody who already paid for their items. As for me, I will never shop at the store again and plan to instead go across the street to Vons where it's cleaner and the prices are better anyways. read more

I always like coming to this save mart. It's usually not very busy and looks very clean and organized. With that being said I'm not sure what their policy is about dogs but I hate to see dog on shopping carts where I place my groceries. I think it's gross. And to top it off the girl that was bagging groceries was petting the dogs and having them lick her hand. No!! I don't want your dirty hands to touch my groceries. This is unacceptable read more

I used to love SaveMart in Clovis . We went recently and were treated very rudely. The cashier was unhappy and did not greet us. She literally threw an item into our cart. We did not want to make a scene so we did not say anything. We understand that politics has affected people in an irrational way. But the management needs to have a talk with all their employees. I won't go too far into it because I'm pretty sure people understand what I'm talking about. I hope that next time I go to Save Mart the employees will behave in a mature respectful manner. This review is so overdue! Like beginning of the pandemic overdue but any who I rarely go to Savemart as its pretty princess pricy for my little budget so the dude likes to take me here every now and then as there are seriously good finds here that most discounted stores or cheaper stores don't carry. If you know me I cannot live without FROZEN treats nor go more than two days without em! So I do crave going to Savemart as they have unique frozen treats. We were on an adventure to find my princess treats and we seriously stumbled upon no other than Snoop Diggity Dogg! Like his own tailored wine! We could not live with ourselves if we left without this bottle! Like Savemart - really surprised me with having this at their store! As I feel that they are definitely welcoming the Snoop followers as in the past certain communities I shall not name around certain parts of town were trying to shut down his concert a few years ago so I was ah-mazed that Savemart is carrying the brand! We seriously came back the next day to get a keepsake bottle for my Wine collection (I collect wines as my hobby) I will not tell you how it was as you will have to come down and give it a try yourself! Anywho, I love coming to this Savemart and always finding new frozen healthy treats to eat or munch on! It's close to home and main freeways so it's in a good location too! As for staff they are friendly and helpful and definitely wearing masks! It can easily get packed in Savemart sometimes, always clean and organized. I am not a regular shopper at Save Mart since the prices are insanely high, but I had to run in today to pick up two things. I was very dissatisfied with the employees at this location. One in particular almost ran into me and my son with a shopping cart. No "excuse me" or apologies were given. We literally had to jump out of his way with a dozen eggs in my hand. Then, the cashier was taking her time, showing the customer ahead of me pictures on her phone. REALLY?!?!? There is a line of people in a hurry, waiting to check out. Unfortunately, this is a common accurance when checking out and the staff has literally no sense of urgency in doing their job. If that's the case, then put in self check out aisles immediately. read more

HERE'S A FEEL GOOD STORY TO NOTE!~ Yesterday, I was in search of whole turkey's for an event our American Legion Post is hosting next week. A gracious and respectable benefactor provided us with the funding to purchase 20+ turkeys for this event. I went to six stores (including 2 Walmart's (a neighborhood and a super store), 3 Von's and a Whole Foods) and was stone-walled at all of them. They all gave the excuse that there is a turkey shortage this year and that they could not provide that many turkeys and that there were limits of 1-2 per person/family. I asked if they could/would work with me as the event was for veterans in our community, one that is being provided for homeless veterans and veteran families that are economically impacted by the current economic situation as well as honoring our local Air and Army national guard and reserve units. They all ADAMANTLY refused re-stating that there is a turkey shortage and they can't help. That is, UNTIL.....I went in to the Save Mart on Herndon and Fowler (Store #98, 1835 Herndon Ave. Clovis, CA 93611.) There I asked a young man, Jason Lima, who was stocking shelves just across from the frozen whole turkeys for sale. So I asked if they had a limit on how many turkeys one could buy. He said "no". I then advised him of our situation and purpose and, as we were talking, the meat manager, Mike Gilreath, came by and said he had overheard our conversation and advised that they had a PLU that they could use. He pulled out his pocket calculator, put in the dollar amount we had to spend and figured out how many cases, CASES of turkeys that would buy. He said he had that in stock and could do it. Deal sealed! When paid for, we loaded over 20 CASES of turkeys. Some had 4 in a case but most had 2 per case. These gentlemen are HEROES today because they did what no one else was able or willing to do. They had planned ahead and had enough stock to help the community, a veteran service organization and veterans. They were the epitome of CUSTOMER SERVICE! They worked with us to provide a FREE meal for veterans and their families in need by providing what was needed to help others. Not only is this customer service but it is COMMUNITY SERVICE! THANK YOU SAVE MART! THANK YOU JASON LIMA AND MIKE GILREATH! YOU ARE ALL HEROES IN MY BOOK!!! read more

This used to be my favorite store. I still shop there but I feel like the prices have gone up to compare with nearby competition. The employees are not very friendly and don't seem to understand how far a smile can go. I understand everyone has bad days but all the younger workers there always look like they hate their job and can't wait to get out of there. I went there on Super Bowl Sunday and the cashier was extremely slow and rude. I felt like I was inconveniencing him by making him work or he was upset that he had to work on that day. Whatever it was, it bothered me the rest of the day because I couldn't believe that management would allow that type of behavior, especially knowing all of the other options we have in the area. There are still a couple long-time employees who I like and are friendly but they are disappearing quickly. read more

In the last year or so, I've been back to this location a few times (including today), and have been impressed by an improved quality found within the produce section. I've still, on occasion, found a moldy strawberry here and there, but not as consistently as before. Therest of the fruits and veggies have been beautiful, and the ones I've purchased have been good flavor and quality. I still think if you don't shop the weekly ads, this place tends to be pretty pricey, but I'm glad to see the perishable foods are being properly cared for now...and if the ads are good, I won't hesitate to stop by. read more

My general experience with all Save Mart stores has never been good, and this store reinforces my viewpoint towards Save Mart. I began shopping regularly at this Save Mart about 6 months ago and have yet to have an overwhelming positive experience anytime I have gone. The store layout is difficult to navigate due to weird stocking locations, employees act like you are inconveniencing them at all times, and the pricing of items doesn't reflect the poor customer service. I expect to have poor customer service when I go to cheap places, but not when I am paying the prices that Save Mart charges. This Save Mart should re-evaluate the way they treat their customers, and offer a level of service that correlates with their pricing structure. read more

This isn't the Save Mart of my childhood! They stock quite a bit of trendy items. Organic foods and even items like beef bones and marrow bones. I popped in just to grab essentials. Eggs for about $2 and strawberries. All the berries looked fresh though it wasn't cheap. The store looks clean and well-organized. I have been to many Save Mart Stores and I must say that this particular store is by far the worst grocery store I have ever been to. They are more expensive than most but that is okay if you know it ahead of time and the extra you pay is for exceptional service. This particular Save Mart is chocked full of creeps. I have had two really crappy experiences at this store. The first one was purchasing event tickets. I came in at 9:50am to buy some tickets to Yo Gabba Gabba Live (a children's program). I told them the tickets went on sale at 10 and I would like to order them and get the best available seats because they were for my 4 year old. The guy said ok and took off. At about 2 min to 10, I asked a checker if they could help me. She said she could not but she would get the person who could help me out. 10:00 comes and no one is here. 10;10 comes and the guy finally shows up. I tell him, "Dude, what happened? You knew I was waiting and you knew the tickets went on sale at 10." His response was, "Do you want tickets or not?" The next incident with the crappy employees was just as lame. I bought a handle of vodka and there was a sticker on it that read, "instant coupon, free fruit". I read it closer and it basically said you get up to $3 in fresh fruit with purchase of a 1.75 bottle of Absolute. I grabbed three lemons and went to the checkout. I removed the coupon and handed it to the clerk. She told me this coupon is no good. I asked why and she just said that it wasn't accepted there. I said that I got the coupon directly from the bottle in the store. She then read the coupon, scanned it and the lemons were free. I am not sure if she was just being lazy or just being an a-hole but either way, this particular Save Mart is the worst grocery store I have ever had the displeasure of stopping in. I've been going to this store since it opened (and I followed it from its original location at Herndon and Clovis) and I've never had a problem with any of it until recently. It's still clean, well lit (unlike Vons, which I swear to god is modeled after a cave deep in a forest somewhere) and the people are all acceptable. Two things are starting to bug me about this store, though. 1. Why in the holy hell do they stock on Saturday and Sunday afternoons? Is this some union thing or what? Is stocking at night or, gasp, after the store closes too much work? Going shopping here on a weekend should incur hazard pay. Get a discount or something. 2. This complaint has gotten rapidly and consistently worse over the past year or so. Every single god damn isle has standalone displays sticking out and blocking half the isle. There's an average of three or four of these per isle. Obviously this affects traffic flow, and it just seems to get worse every time I go. One time they put a display for sleeping pills next to the condoms; I'll admit that I laughed at that. +1 star for some marketing major's sense of humor. Oh, there's a gb3 a few doors down so there's tons of roided out gym rat assholes tearing through the parking lot in front of the store. read more

Booked a Covid vaccine at their pharmacy. Got a call the next day from them saying the system overbooked appointments and asked if I would voluntarily move to a different day. I said yes and I got rescheduled to a day later. I show up on the rescheduled day & time and they say the system overbooked again and would I like to reschedule. I asked if they could guarantee it wouldn't happen a 3rd time and they said no. What a waste of my time. Stay far away, these guys are beyond unorganized. Waste of time & useless. read more

I went through Roshelle's line to get cashed out. I felt like she lacked on her customer service skills, because she doesn't try to connect with her shoppers. This is my least favorite location in all of Fresno and Clovis. All of the other locations for the most part have consistency in the brands and items that I buy when I shop at Save Mart, but for some reason this location doesn't have most of the same items I buy at other locations and/or they are always out of stock. This is the 5th time I've been to this location not by choice, but because it is convenient for my boyfriend to shop here. I never see anyone around to help if I need it or just have a question to ask. I have to wait to get to the cashier, then the cashier has to page someone, then I have to wait forever for someone to come over to either grab something or answer a question. The way some of the merchandise is put on the shelf makes me wonder if a blind monkey was hired to do the job. I mean who takes drink bottles and stacks them horizontally on top of the entire row of drinks beneath on the top shelf so that it is impossible to take anything off of the shelf without having to climb up on the shelves below (which is not safe), and hang on with one hand while removing the top bottles with the other hand and climbing down, trying not to drop anything. I even tried getting the bottles on top without climbing, but one ended up falling and hitting me in the face. Don't get me started on the cashiers. When I went, they didn't like to pay attention to the fact a huge line had formed and they needed to call for help until it was way too late and people were already impatient and irritated because it was taking too long. There is no sense of urgency or work ethic when checking customers out either. You only need to have common sense to bag groceries, but unfortunately common sense is uncommon. Don't even get me started on the Bakery section. They couldn't care less if you ask them for help, will not offer any help if you ask for it, and act like they don't care/understand what you're asking. I asked if they have ever had blueberry puff pastries in stock with or without cream cheese because I can't eat any of the other flavors due to the acidity of the other fruits. It would cause me pain like acid being poured into my bladder. I only disclosed this to the workers because they blew me off the first time I asked, so I let them know I had a reason for asking. Well this didn't make them change their apathetic attitude. I was just told well maybe they only get one or two every once in awhile if It's gone when I come we'll too bad. Then they tell me I can buy the apple or strawberry ones. Really?! You work in a freakin' bakery and you don't know apples and strawberries are acidic? I told them again I can't eat anything acidic, and they're looking at me like I'm stupid. No offer to see if they could order more or even place a special order, or even when they usually get them in so I have the best chance of finding one. I just told them to forget it and left. I won't be coming back to this location ever. I even convinced my boyfriend and he agrees we'll shop at the one 2 miles away. read more

Save mart couldn't wait to take over every market in town. Many years ago we had Ralphs here and they were a nice upscale market. But Save Mart had to have it and with time Save Mart made it another one of their mediocre and poorly run acquistions. Initially they carried varied brands- name brands and some budget. Not anymore... as I over heard a new employee being indoctrinated...'this is a more blue collar area we carry more upscale brands for other locations'. Thanks Save Mart i'll take my postgraduate doctor dollars to any market but your condescending location.
