The young lady was not helpful whatsoever and did not appear to want to help me. Too bad! Ace was way better.

Terrific local business-- and people! Heyer's is a family-owned hardware store in the old sense of…read morethat term: from the owners on down, everyone there is either actual family or treated near enough that way. You'll more than likely be dealing with one of the owners when you need some help finding a part or figuring out a problem, and they'll help you until things are all figured out. Ed remembers just about everyone's name, and he can recollect all your household projects for years to come as he asks how they turned out or are holding up. Could not find a better place to solve household problems in this day and age.

The first omen was seeing a man with no mask on. There is a state requirement about masks.. If you are going to post signs about wearing a mask, enforce it! No one was at the paint department, so the woman at the check-out register announced on the P.A. for assistance at the paint department. After waiting 10 minutes, I left. And the store was not busy at all! I had planned to buy the items on my long list while the paint was being mixed. I doubt if I'll go back. This used to be one of my favorite stores. It seemed like there were always friendly, usually older, men ready to assist or answer any questions. It's changed. And not for the better.

I purchased a grill a few years ago. Paid 50.00 for delivery and the man they sent was quite…read moreunqualified , he actually scratched the grill installing propane tank. I had to help him get the product and parts out of his vehicle. He then stood around waiting for a TIP. Today I was to pick up 3 screens that I had repaired. There screen man was kind enough to call me to explain that he did not have the product we discussed and a credit would be issued . Same woman who sold me the grill came behind the counter and started giving orders to a young employee who looked bewildered . I explained I had already paid for them and just wanted the credit applied to my credit card. She then proceed to tell me the credit would amount to approximately 12 cents and announced we were through and I was free to go. Then repeated i was free to go, I wanted to scream. I paid 99.00 dollars for three small screens. NO CREDIT. NO SATISFACTION. She needs a new OCCUPATION. I will never step foot in that store again.

Buyer beware: I visited ace hardware in Fort Atkinson looking for some dishwasher discharge tubing…read more The two individuals who helped me with this purchase invited me behind the counter of the key area. I showed them what kind of tube I was looking for and asked for 3 feet of 7/8 inch interior diameter tubing. A quick google search prior to entering the store showed that most places were selling this item for $1.00-1.60 a foot. I had trusted that Ace would be at least comparable. The tag that was provided to me to bring to the register showed a what I believed to be a total price between $4 and $5. It was only after that item was rung up I discovered that the price was $4-5 per foot. I went back in and spoke to the store manager at the time, Lupe, she informed that because it was already cut she couldn't return the item. I took that for what it was and decided to eat that cost as a lesson learned. After returning home, I discovered that the item was the wrong size. I thought surely now they would return the item for me. Nope! Lupe after examining the product herself admitted to me the item was the wrong size and mislabeled, an error that was not the fault of myself or anyone else working that day, still said to spite that fact she could still not return the item. Two other individuals including a Fort Atkinson police officer advocated for an amicable resolution to this issue but according to Lupe none was to be had because she was not willing to get in trouble for bending the rules (something I can understand but not respect). She indicated that I was rude and disrespectful to her staff. I admit I was a bit miffed after discovering the exorbitantly high price and then more so after learning that even after making an error they refused to make it right. For that I do apologize. Please take this as an opportunity to learn from my mistake and make sure that every item you purchase from that store is exactly what you asked for because if it's not no matter who's fault it is you may end up paying for it.
