I've been patiently waiting for this Winchell's to reopen -- the first two visits were perfection and worth the wait. Their apple fritters fresh out of the back are nearly unmatched. Unfortunately, my third and fourth visits were off; both times the quality seemed noticeably worse. If you have loyal customers who don't mind yesterday's selections, please consider offering those at a clear discount and labeling them as such. I'll happily pay a premium when the freshness is obvious. Looking forward to better visits. Thank you. read more

When it comes to donut shops, this Winchell's is exactly what I envision. We come in every single Saturday regardless of what we have to do and get a donut or some of the many other things they have. We are always greeted by the friendly staff and really made to feel important and appreciated as a customer. All of the donuts and pastries I have ever had from here has always been cooked perfect and fresh. Same goes for the fresh squeezed juice that they serve in the morning. It's some of the best juice I have ever had. On top of the donuts, eclairs, bear claws and fritters, there is also a wide range of bagels, croissants, and even breakfast sandwiches that are all equally amazing. My personal favorite is to get the turkey, ham, bacon egg and cheese sandwich on an everything bagel with avocado added. It's all made right there as you order it however you want with several options and choices on topping and sauces. I always go with the Chipotle sauce or mustard as it just ramps it all up. While you wait for that to be cooked the gentlemen or occasional lady behind the counter will engage in the general shop conversation about your weekend and your plans and then with a smile always thanks you and looks forward to the next stop in. I have always loved donut shops because of the nostalgia growing up as a child myself getting donuts almost every Saturday with my parents. I am now a bit older and have a 3yr old myself. So when one of the employees saw my little toddler come in, they immediately brightened her day by offering her a donut hole as a gift. We bought the rest of our order and went on our way, but the entire ride home she couldn't help but say how nice the man was at the donut shop. She has been happy all day ever since. Worst donut shop I've ever been to. One guy in there and was leisurely making sandwiches while I waited for over five minutes. Very unprofessional. It also smelled like paint or something chemical. I will not be returning. I suggest no one else does so that it gets shut down. The city would be better off without this festering piece of garbage tarnishing and otherwise good reputation for good donuts. read more

I stopped into the donut shop at 130am on a Friday night and there was a large assortment of different kinds to choose from and they tasted amazing! The strawberry and vanilla frosted cake donuts were so so good! Super fluffy and moist and very fresh! So tasty especially at 130am read more

We live in Old Town and just love these donuts. Staff is friendly, place is clean, and we love the retro vibe. I've had their breakfast sandwiches on bagels before which are very good! Our absolute hands down favorite are the maple glazed donuts, they are so amazing!! We've gotten them in the morning and in the afternoon, and while the afternoon donuts are delicious, the morning donuts are addictive and heavenly! I'm from the east coast, a.k.a., the Dunkin' Donuts coast. Winchell's kind of pales in comparison to DD, but it is nice to have a donut shop right in downtown Longmont. Word of warning: the coffee is really, really bad. read more

I am a huge fan of donuts, in general. Winchell's in general really ranks up there in my list. But this review is about this specific Winchell's in Longmont on Main. I've always gotten extremely friendly service every time I go in. Donuts are always fresh, and so is the coffee. Usually I just grab my donuts and coffee, and head out to where ever I am going. But this weekend I was showing off downtown Longmont to my fam, so we decided to sit and eat our donuts before taking off for a walk around the town. I am a huge fan and go there often, but I agree that it sometimes seems "dead" when I drive by. Sitting there on Saturday, though, I could see they get TONS of business! The whole time we were there, there was a steady stream of customers getting donuts to go. It was super busy, and that made me happy. It is a fun and yummy place to go for donuts, and I love that its in such a fun location, too! read more

Avoid going to this place late at night (past 9pm). Arguably the WORST experience with the server (owner?) I've had in Longmont. I've never seen someone so pushy and aggressive with selling donuts in an empty store before! It's not like you're selling cars bro...they're donuts. Awfully rude baker/employee. My family and I would come here often and he (Keith Taylor's "head Baker 7 days a week" [his words]) would be nice when he gave us service. Which is surprising when last night at 10 PM when we entered the store; he kept on looking at the curved mirror and surely saw us because we said hello several times, and he did not even say anything like "be there in a moment" since he was making donuts by the fryer. After 3 minutes, he came upfront without any greeting and with a rude tone of "what do you guys need?" So politely my sister told him the usual answer "a box please" (mind you, the past few times he knew what that meant) so my sister answered nicely "a box of donuts for myself and my sister." Right after the clarification, he rolled his eyes and made a face which I saw and called him out on it. Politely I asked "is there a problem?" He repeated my question and then goes on a rant cause some people would want just boxes and he said he would charge for it. So I told him there was no need for the rudeness, tone and eye roll. He got all the more defensive and my sister just said for us to leave. So Keith was like, "go ahead" while waving his hands disrespectfully. Before I went out, I asked for his name several times and then he gave it to me of course with an attitude. I do not condone rudeness especially when it comes to customer service. He might have been having a bad day and all since working for 7 days but there is no need to take it out on customers. read more

I've been here 5 times. They always hook us up with extra donuts and it's always fresh!

This place is just totally gross, in every way. It's most frequently found used as "informal" homeless shelter, filled with unbathed, foul-odored people with their heads down on tables all night, sleeping, their shopping carts full of dirty laundry and empty soda bottles parked outside. The guy at the counter picked his nose then asked me what I wanted, as he reached in a display case with no gloves on after counting money. I opted for coffee instead. I saw the cook come from back with long greasy unbrushed hair in filthy paint-spattered clothes covered in what looked like dirt and motor-oil. The three homeless people I sat next to looked like they bathe more often than the cook does. My arm stuck to the unwashed and sticky table. I wondered why it stunk of cigarette smoke so badly then looked on the floor to discover numerous cigarette butts on the floor. As if smoking's okay there when no nonsmokers are present, despite state law to the contrary. This place is a bigger dive than 3's tavern. read more

These donuts are fairly average. However, they are the best ones Longmont has. The family of owners are great, friendly.

Just moved here and one of the things I miss are donuts! We went to dinner on Main, and while walking to our car smelled the glory from outside Winchell's, so we had to stop. The donuts were average but very fresh and the place was clean. One complaint, I drove by here many times, but thought they didn't really sell donuts because all of the posters in the windows are of deli sandwiches and smoothies! I thought they were just one of those places that uses donuts for the buns or something. Or that they were a sandwich shop that just happened to have a few donuts too. They have donut holes! This is a great way to feel like a kid again! I love the donut connoisseurs...seriously? It is a donut place and they aren't frozen before frying like disgusting grocery store donuts. What more do you want? Being athletic and conscientious about what I consume, I rarely eat donuts so perhaps my taste buds aren't honed in like they would be if I were lackadaisical about what I put into my body. Interior and exterior of the place is showing its age and needs a remodel, which made it not the most pleasant environment, but still worth hitting up especially if they are open 24 hours. read more
