My house was built in 1985 and it still had the original windows that weren't functioning very well. I shopped around and went to Win-Dor because of the great experiences my neighbors shared. The prices were very competitive from the bids I received from others and their windows appeared to be very good quality. After making my purchase, a measuring crew came out quickly. about 3 weeks later, they were at my house installing my new windows. To my surprise, they sent out 2 install crews and finished my whole house in one day. The install crew was very good and very clean. They did a fantastic job. Inside the house is much quieter now and temperature regulation is better. The windows are insulated well keeping the temp down in the areas that get direct sun. Since my install, 2 of my neighbors have hired Win-Dor seeing the great experience that I had. read more

They don't back up their warranty on a leaking window, and their service is terrible and disorganized. It takes a lot for me to write a negative review, as a long-time business owner I have been on both sides and tend to be forgiving. My experience with WinDor was so terrible I would be embarrassed to own this company. I called to get service on a leaking window that was installed by WinDor. It took me 3 calls to finally reach someone who had a hard time finding our records, then she proceeded to try and schedule a service tech in a 3 hour window. The first available was 3 weeks away so I took it. About a week later I get a call from her saying someone overbooked my appt (??!!) and that she needs to reschedule me. She asked me for a few options and never called back. I then called a couple days before my original appointment hoping they got things worked out. Yet again, had a hard time getting all the details together and then she scrambled to get someone scheduled for me. The day of my appointment I had taken the day off work to be there for the allotted time, but nobody showed. I called the office and was told the guy scheduled for my job was running late and he would call me on his way. Nope....he never showed up or called and I never received a call to reschedule. I'm fed up and will look elsewhere for service even though I will have to pay. What good is a warranty without backing it up. The guys at Win-Dor were able to provide an estimate quickly that I could use to compare to others. Their reasonable price and build quality ended up being the deciding factor. Many other BI fold door companies either came in too high, had rude third party distributors, required separate installers or wouldn't provide the colors we wanted. Win Dor was able to deliver in all these areas for us and also several of our neighbors. It is also helpful that they are now one of the leading companies and I see their doors/windows in many of the new homes around us in playa vista. The installation crew (Chris, Francis, Beto, Edgar, Ryan and Ross) was very courteous and made sure to fully plastic off the area to prevent debris from coming in during the installation. They also papered the floor and were friendly to have around. Highly recommend their hard work! Stay away from this company. I had my entire house done by them, from all the windows to my sliding doors. They take your money and run. When you need them to repair the break down of their product, they ignore you. When you call them you are forced to leave a message on a system that is full which you then get promoted to call back later. After many attempts you finally get a hold of someone that tells you how much it's going to cost you to have someone come over to fix their product. I tried to do an online search for contact information on the founders of the company (Gary Templin / Wolf Wirthgen) but found them also to be unreachable. They must be at the bank. My point is, if you need windows and doors, find a company with CEO's that are reachable for any issues or complaints that you cant get resolved from local branch. A company's product warranty is worthless if they are not their to help you or stand behind it. read more

i recently purchased and installed a Win Dor 4 panel bi fold patio door. I am a contractor with over 35 years experience. The quality seemed reasonable as we unpacked this unit. I ordered it with the ADA compliant threshold. The construction was a slab on grade so we had to cut and notch the concrete to accommodate the ADA sill. The profile and detail sheet that we received from the manufacture was wrong. After the unit was delivered, we discovered that we had to re-cut and notch the concrete because of the incorrect detail. the manufacture stated that they have changed the sI'll profile without updating the detail. After the door was in and completely assembled, we noticed that the door reveal was not the same from top to bottom on either of the side frames. It turns out that the new sill was not machine properly so that when it attached to the frame, it's at about 3/16 of an inch off at the bottom. The dealer that we purchased the door from had a very custom an amazing set of hinges made that cure this problem. but with the seal being off for the entire length of the door, it still operates very marginal. When I contacted the dealer and he came out their "solution" was to take this perfectly plum level straight in Square door and make it no longer plum to try to force the bottom of the door into place. Overall, I would have to say that I am not impressed with a $12,000 patio door that needs to be fixed before it can be used. lesson learned! I will never buy another one from this company. read more

August 15th 2017...Update to my original review. Windor is a big company that still takes the time to listen to their customers. I am happy to let all consumers know that I received a call from John May with Windor this morning at 10:24 am today August 15th 2017. John and I discussed my challenges with the city of Palm Springs and the penalty charges I incurred. John was very receptive to my siituation and Windor is going to reimburse to me the penalty charge of $255.84. I am very happy with this outcome and of course their Windows are "5 Star" and the Windor installers are always professional. See my original original review from Friday August 11th 2017 below. Buyer beware if you are using Windor to install replacement Windows in the city of Palm Springs. I used Windor to install new windows on my home in Palm Springs on Aug 8th and 9th 2017...all was going great until on the 2nd day of install...Palm springs city inspector red tagged my property to stop all work as I needed a permit. I was unaware of this requirement as I hired Windor and they should have known this and informed me and I would have pulled the needed permit. In am repeat Windor customer...Windows in 2008 from them on a previous property ($13,000 spent) ...and $10,000 just spent yesterday...and have another property that Windor will be installing end of August ($7,000) As I pulled the permit after the fact I had to pay a penalty in addition to the permit and after emailing my contact at Windor was told that Windor would not reimburse me the penalty $$. My advice to all is to check with your city if you are installing new windows from Windor or any window replacement company....and pull the needed permit . One would think that a big company as Windor would know the requirements of the cities they are working in. read more

If I could give them zero stars I would. We placed an order for a WinDor folding window through their local authorized dealer in May 2015, and a late June delivery was promised. Long story short, they "lost" our order and it was never made. As a result, we had an approximately 9 foot wide hole in the side of our home all summer where the window was supposed to go. I complained to WinDor, and was directed to their regional manufacturer's sales rep that sits between the manufacturer and their local dealer network. He intervened, apologized, promised they would complete a new order in 4 weeks, and convinced me to re-order an new order through a different authorized local dealer, which we did. 7 weeks later (!!), we finally received the folding window, on October 27, 2015. The window arrived knocked down completely unassembled in 3 separate crates, 200 screws and so far 12 hours of assembly of the window unit itself by my general contractors just to put it together, before we even begin installation of the window on site. My general contractor commented, "38 years in this business and the first erector set window." This is, without a doubt, one of the worst home building materials suppliers I have ever dealt with. I would caution any home owner considering this product from dealing with this firm or its dealer network. This is not my first rodeo; I have dealt with many home building suppliers over the years, and have invested a lot in residential and commercial real estate. I wish I could give a zero star. Window leaked and was told to call Kim in customer service. Left her numerous messages on different days and never received call back. Finally asked for her supervisor, she called in one minute. Called in June and made an inspection appointment for 2 months later in August. Once they determined that the windows were defective, then made appointment for replacement in October, another 2 months. Day of service, I was told that the crew called in sick and postponed to November. Today, the crew showed up. After they finished the work, they did not even say a word when they were done. My husband was standing outside and did not see them to return and that was when he realized that they were gone. So terrible service in every department. Don't use them. read more

i worked with john mccarthy on a custom, corner set of 7 folding doors for a large outdoor deck . the doors were custom made b/c they were 8.5' high each which i guess is kinda large for a door! much less a folding glass one! and the wall / corner they were to cover was 18' long. so-- a sizeable section of folding door and glass! i had heard about these guys through their radio ads. then one day when i actually needed windows and doors (which is not an every day occurrence!) the name stuck with me so i checked them out along with a dozen vendors. what i will tell you is, construction and anything custom made is very expensive. but you also can't buy solely based on price because more often than not, you get what you pay for. we had some quotes which were much much much more expensive, and others which were less. windors quote to us was $15,000. yup. $15,000! but again -- 18' of foldable glass doors, 8.5' high. a lot of window / door. but like i said, things cost. and we've seen enough construction and contracting to know what a fair quote is... or isn't. this one was very fair even though it's not a small bill! anyway we went with these guys. construction of the doors took about 5 weeks. installation took 1 day with a crew of about 5 guys who hoisted these by hand and foot up a hillside to get them to the site. before they installed, they were very conscientious about putting plastic up in the room (which didn't totally matter since it was a construction mess anyway!). they had come to check the site and also knew that they'd have to reinforce the door headers, so they did that too. what i can tell you is, they definitely knew what they were doing. and the custom doors are absolutely top notch and high quality. they are entirely equivalent to the top lines you'll see at stock window and door (who have great windows and doors too, btw!), but for much much less. the doors are double pane glass, white trim, brushed stainless ultra high quality hardware. they open and close flawlessly, they seal tightly and firmly. they've been up for a few months now and have completely pro, high-end look, feel and performance. they did a very good job, john was very good to work with and i would definitely recommend. read more

When i purchased windows i was givin a lifetime warranty it even claims to cover the accidental glass breakage , First off they show up take out the big front window and install a clearly broken window i asked why would you install a broken glass window he said he will come back another day and fix it i had taken a non paid day off work and told him no it needs to be fixed today he refused until i called the salesman n they made a new glass and brought it here ,he was mad because he was done and had to wait ,They installed the patio slider incorrect the screen door constantly fell off the frame ,I called right away they came out at least 6 times and accomplished nothing until they sent out a supervisor who measured and said door is not plumb has to be removed and reinstalled which after mutiple attempts was finally fixed correctly ,i wanted an interior foot kick lock and a keyed lock i was told it had to be installed by their installers or it would void my warranty so i paid extra for both to be installed ,I had many issues with the rollers they came and replaced them under warranty also the kick lock broke and again the came and replaced under warranty ,So the rollers started making noise and hard to roll again, well now they have stopped doing installs they only sell to contractors who sell then do the installs so now they claim its not under warranty they claim those are wear parts and are not covered under warranty mind you the warranty says lifetime warranty not limited or anything else so now the kick lock is broke the rollers are bad and i have to try and find these items and fix myself beware of deceptive warranty claims . read more

We needed to finish replacing the original windows in our home and in as much as we had a good experience our first go-around with Win-Dor, we thought we would return. Our salesperson was Corey and he is really the antithesis of the contractor salesman. He is professional, smart and he listens. He doesn't try to push his plan for your windows. Mike is the scheduler and he was great; he was also proactive and responsive. The install team was great, I've forgotten their names, but they worked quickly and efficiently and cleaned up as they went which kept the dust to a minimum. We needed some stucco work done and that is being done today, so I can't vouch for that yet, but the install guys assured me he does excellent work. So, all in all, I'd definitely return to Win-Dor for future window and door projects. read more

Win-dor will not stand by the quality of their windows! We had windows installed in in 2005. Yes it was awhile ago, but all the white trim (c-rap) is curling up and looks horrible all around the outside windows. It should last longer than this! Well, we had a service tech come out to inspect it. The result, $300 to come out again to simply put screws/fasteners in the trim around windows (on outside). The least Win-dor could have done is waive this cost to stand behind their windows and keep their customers satisfied with their product. A disappointment for sure! read more

Do not do business with these people!!! We moved into a house with their windows installed 4 years ago. Their warranty states that a 5 year warranty from the install date is transferable to new owners. Yet, Win-Dor refuses to honor their own warranty with us! Our glass broke due to heat damage (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spontaneous_glass_breakage). The original home owners then transferred the warranty to us. And Win-Dor refuses to retroactively apply their own warranty to the glass! Attempts to contact management were abysmal, as they evaded contact and did not return voice mail messages. Finally after more than a week of calling I talk to two separate managers who are both quite argumentative and quite the opposite of conciliatory. If you buy from these people, be aware that the management staff (J. Reed, D. May, etc.) is rude, aggressive and mean. I even asked one manager (J. Reed) if he thought this situation was fair (regardless of legality), and he said yes! They might install decent (but short-lived) windows but why should you buy from them with such rude behavior to your would-be customers when there are a hundred other installers available? "You said that you were either going to get the glass replaced for free or at 20% the cost" Incorrect; I said free or a steep discount. I'm not sure if that's legal or ethical to share personal information in that way. Perhaps this is another warning for potential customers? "At this point we are not sure how to help you." Here is some free advice. Treat your customers with respect (I was called by my first name on essentially all phone calls). Return voice mail messages promptly (don't make me call you back multiple days in a row). Maybe just say "I'm sorry, but it's our policy to not make any exceptions to the strict verbiage of our warranty, even when homeowners do not promptly transfer warranties. I would like to help you out, but I just can't." Never insinuate that your customer is lying (certainly many people out there would lie about this situation, but I am not one of these people.) Lastly, I request an apology from all parties involved for implying that I was lying (repeatedly calling this breakage "accidental"), when the evidence posted above gives a plausible explanation for the spontaneous glass breakage. read more

Jesus from Win-Dor in Brea provided outstanding customer service during a recent service call to our home. Jesus arrived at the beginning of the 1-5 pm "window" we were given. He was prompt, courteous and cleaned up thoroughly after. We had 3 items that needed to be repaired. Our screen door track was bent, the sliding glass door was not sliding easily and a strip of vinyl on the outside of the door frame was coming off. Jesus looked at the piece of the door frame that was coming off and explained to me it was completely cosmetic and was optional to repair. He also explained if I chose to have it repaired he would need to charge me a $75.00 service call fee. After discussing it we decided we should wait to repair it since we would be having our concrete outside redone and that strip of vinyl could be damaged again. The vinyl track was bent due to the extreme heat this summer. It was covered under warranty and Jesus made an effort to replace it with an aluminum track instead of vinyl so we would not have this type of problem in the future. Our glass door was not sliding easily and Jesus removed the door, explained to me what may be causing the problem and replaced the wheels on the door at no extra cost to us. Jesus was extremely professional, helpful, and courteous and took care of all our concerns and everything was covered under the original warranty or repaired at no additional cost. We would highly recommend Win-Dor and Jesus from the Brea location for all service needs of windows and doors. read more

See below for 6/17/16 UPDATE We have had WinDor windows and doors for about 10 years. Initially we were very satisfied. However, on our single hung windows, when ever it rained, the windows leaked. We contacted WinDor and after a month (first appointment), they noted that there was indeed a problem. Seems the weep holes to allow the water to drain out of the window channels was missing. They came out again, drilled the holes and problem solved, right? No Fast forward about 4 months later, four of the 5 windows (single hung) have failed. Seems due to the water intrusion, the ropes within the springs that allow the window to open have all rotted and failed. I called customer service on 6/1/2016 twice, talked to an operator who said she would hand deliver my message to customer service. Nothing. Left another message this morning, and posted an online request for service. So far, nothing has been done, no contact at all. Depending on how I am treated, good or bad, I will update this review. So far, I am not very happy. Update - 4th call today at 9:45AM. Talked to the operator and was told this would be sent to the manager and to customer service. Update - They called this morning about 10:00. Nice. Customer Service told me that the mechanism that opens the windows is warranted for 5 years only. (I thought they stated that these windows had a lifetime warranty.? I guess its a "Yeah but...") sort of warranty. Long story short, they are going to charge about $35 per window to make the repair, with another type of mechanism as they no longer make the version I have. They will be out in about 2 two weeks. Sorry to rant on this, but I feel, so far anyway, that their dealings are not really above board in my opinion. June 17th, 2016 Win-dor showed up today as promised, with a reminder call received the day before the appointment. Two men showed up today. and repaired all of the 5 windows, without charge. Very satisfied with the service, and grateful for the properly operating windows. They asked me to update my Yelp review, which at this point, I am more than happy to do. Case closed. read more

First of all the first appoinment was canceled with very little notice. When they did give me an estimate in August 2014 In Febuary I called them and said I wanted the whole house changed out. Windor came back out gave me and estimate to change windows. I agreed to the price and asked them to install. They send a guy out later to verify windows sizes. He informed me the 5 windows were not included in the sale. When I called they wanted to charge a lot more I was not willing to install at that price. Trying to talk to them about the confusion and price was terrible. They were rude and arrogant. Now they refuse to give me my money back . Terrible company to work with. read more

Ordered a sliding rear patio door, everything was going according to plan, delivery was made on June 19, 2018 the job was completed, really good job done, at the end Joe who did the insulation stated that the screen door was on back order and somebody from the company would call me that night or the next day on 6-20, I received no phone call I made several attempts to contact The sales rep Jeff horace which there was no response from so I had to call the corporate office in Brea. I was finally transferred to Mike who promised me the screen door would be delivered on Saturday 6-23, I get a call from a service tech at 8:20 in the morning on Saturday stating they can't find my product this company has horrible communication problems just make sure if you do go with this company your whole product is there and can be installed that day God help you if you're missing a a piece because you will never see it The very sad thing is now I have to waste my time to take these people to court to get $100 screen door.... sad. read more

We made a call and got someone scheduled. Abel showed up during the time we were promised. He quickly assessed the issue and performed the necessary fixes.
