The windows I ordered are beautiful and top of the line (Simonton energy efficient vinyl windows), but the installation was poorly done. Within five months of the installation, I noticed the trim they installed on the inside along one of the two new windows had come almost entirely undone, to the point that there were huge openings and I could see the insulation foam they used in the gaps. I even had a bee somehow get through into the room thanks to the poor installation. For the amount paid, I was frustrated to realize they hadn't done a better job. Next time I'm in need of new windows etc., I'll be sure to look elsewhere. Update: There also appears to be gaps along the top exterior side of the other window - I heard some kind of large insect (we get alot of bees and wasps around my building) buzzing and trying to escape from inside there. Luckily the interior trim remained sealed on this window at least. But once again, I find myself disappointed with the installation. read more

All other windows in the house had been replaced previously, and most companies had a minimum order quantity that didn't make sense for our project, or had long lead times that would have been problematic for the timeline of our project. The sales rep Tim was on time to his appointment, quickly assessed and measured the window, and got the process started. He was readily available for updates, and the window was available very quickly! The install was done well and matches the other windows in our house. I was skeptical about communicating with this company since they merged with another window company with sub-par reviews, and it seems my suspicions were correct. When I first reached out for a quote and provided my number, I was told a representative would reach out to me. They never did until I followed up about a month later. Then, it seemed like it was going a positive direction because they sent a technician (Scott) right away to measure my windows and provided a quote the next day. He was even helpful in explaining what makes a good window and what qualities I should be looking for. However, once I did my own research and realized the windows he quoted me would not meet my expectations at all, that's when the quality of communication dropped substantially. I requested a new quote with higher quality windows and even gave them the green light to purchase three windows from them to start, and I haven't heard anything since. I've followed up multiple times via texts and calls, and no answer. It is clear now they were just trying to sell me something subpar and not expect me to look into it deeper. Even if this wasn't the case, it should not be this difficult to receive communication, either from the main contact or anyone else in the company. It's been months now and they NEVER responded. I would like to warn others of my experience with this company and suggest to proceed VERY cautiously. I am in search of the following: We currently have 2 windows that are 68"W X 54"H and we want to replace them with smaller windows 59"W x 41"1/2 H. Do you provide installation including making the rough opening smaller? The exterior is stucco and the interior is drywall. Unfortunately they are unable to assist me with my project. Pat came out to give me an estimate. I recently had my kitchen remodeled and the windows did not flatter the new look. I also wanted a quote on a sliding door replacement. Our house had some very old 1950's era windows that were ugly and falling apart. We shopped around for new windows and received 5 bids from 5 different contractors. Cal Rep and Pat Sullivan were by far the stand out. Pat came out to the house to explain the different options and recommended doing a retrofit, which in essence cutting out the old window and installing a new window without having to remove any of the exterior of the structure. I was a bit skeptical since I had never heard of this particular process of installing windows. After debating between the retrofit and doing a nail in installation, we went ahead with the retrofit. We eventually signed and got an install date. Mark and his guys came out and had all the windows done in one day. (We 8 windows done) They were clean and very professional. All in all, the windows look great and came out better than expected. The only downside of a retrofit is that you do lose some window area compared to the old window, but as long as the window aren't particularly small, you won't notice much of a difference. Another note is that Cal Rep does not engage in high pressure sales tactics. This is common with some contractors and a couple that we had come out and bid. It's a complete turn off and usually result in inflated prices in the end. Cal Rep is professional and their prices are very competitive. read more

There were 3 very hard working men working very efficiently all day and replaced all our windows and a slider by the end of that day. I called California Replacement Windows based off of a recommendation by a friend. Pat (the owner of the company) came to do the estimate. He was on time, professional and courteous. The wife and I selected the Milgard Tuscany Series Patio Doors. The delivery of the door came and there was an issue with the door but it was not California Replacement Windows' fault. It was the fault of the manufacturer, Milgard. It did cause a huge inconvenience for me as I had to reschedule a day for me to stay home. Pat went above and beyond to fix the issue. Pat came over to measure my 15 windows plus a patio door and offered me the most reasonable price. He's very friendly and professional when i was dealing with him. That also factored in my decision to choose CRW. I chose Milgard windows out of the 3 brands I was offered and ultimately made the right choice. The installers came on time and did an outstanding job. They pointed out that one window latch was defective and called Pat right away. The latch was replaced by Milgard timely. This company has been amazing since day 1! We had a broken window and asked for them to come out to give us a quote. When they came out, the guy was concerned with our safety and had his secondary guy come out that same day to do the secondary measurements. Both were ON TIME!! Actually, they were early. We got the measurements dome and he gave me the "Angie's list" discount, that I didn't even ask for. We they also offer a discount if you pay cash or check. We paid by check and our order was placed. Did I mention that they came out during a bad storm in orange county. Today is installation day and they showed up ON TIME again! They laid down painters canvas drapes over all of the flooring and carpeting, covered furniture and were and are (they are here right now) very clean! So disappointed in the lack of customer service when we had a repair need. I have been a long time satisfied customer, and recommended them to my mom for a new custom sliding door, very expensive. We had a situation w/ a lodged window decoration which got stuck between the stationary door and the slider and the slider wouldn't close. It's winter and cold at night. I called to get a technician or install person to come assist and I was told it would be 6-8 wks before someone could come out and that I "should find a handyman with door experience or a glass/screen guy." I said it's a very expensive door and we don't know of a handyman "with door experience." She said sorry and hung up. That was it! If you're looking for a company with customer service that extends beyond your install, don't use this company. read more

If I could give 10 stars, I would. Had 30 windows and 4 sliding doors replace - BIG PROJECT. Almost all the windows had to be tempered and we have 4 huge picture windows. EXPENSIVE PROJECT. We got 4 bids, using the following companies: 1. American Vision - decent price but wow, the sales man was pushy. We liked Am Vis. Their installers are direct employees. 2. Pella - crazy high price (like 3-4x more expensive than everyone else) 3. Home Depot - nice sales person, not pushy. But did NOT like the fact that their installers were not direct employees. Too many bad reviews online. Ultimately, we felt that the quality of the install was almost more important than the actual window they were installing, so Home Depot was out. 4. Cal Rep - we decided to get a price from them as a last minute thing after finding them on Yelp. So glad we did. Unlike the other companies, Cal Rep is a smaller, family owned business. You really get a personal touch during the entire process. Pat Sullivan from Cal Rep is awesome. He's the owner of the company and he was there every single step of the project. From the initial bid to completion. With the other companies, once the sales person closes the deal and gets his commission, you can bet you'll never see or hear from them again. Unlike the other companies' sales people, he actually knows how to install windows himself. The other companies just measured and plugged everything into their little computer and spit out a price. Pat really took his time to analyze the situation and what it was going to take to install make a good install. He looked at the condition of the framework, the locations of the windows, the path of travel to get to the windows. He brought up potential issues he saw with our install so we could figure out solutions BEFORE the job. For instance, the frames for our sliding glass doors leading to an enclosed atrium would not fit through our front door, so we had to figure out a way to get them in (we ended up needing to bring them over a roof). None of the other vendors forsaw that. But since Pat did, we figured everything out and coordinated with our neighbor for access over the roof. It went off without a hitch due to the planning. You can tell her really knows his stuff and is very thoughtful in his recommendations. He is not high pressure. In fact, he gave some recommendations for windows that we didn't need to change out. You can tell he's not looking to make a quick commission and sale, he's really looking to turn you into a satisfied customer so you'll refer him to your friends and family. He sees the long term value in building relationships and treating his customers right. Pat visited the job site each day to check on the progress. Wouldn't have gotten that with the other sales people! Jeff, the foreman was great. Very meticulous. The entire crew was awesome. All were very courteous and professional, They cleaned up after themselves each day and left the job site tidy. All their installers are direct employees, and almost all of them have been with the company for over 10 years. That says a lot. It tells me they treat their employees well which also tells me their employees are happy employees. Happy employees are more likely to do a better job. Also, it tells me that their installers will have pride and be careful with their work because they are trying to maintain a reputation (unlike contracted installers ala Home Depot) Finally, Cal Rep offered use the Simonton Daylight Max window, which was a much slimmer frame that other retrofit windows. We are lucky to have a nice view at our house, so the ability to maximize the glass line was a HUGE part of the consideration. We were not completely price driven. In fact, we might have been willing to pay a little bit of a premium for the Simonton window because of the smaller frame and our desire to maximize our view. However, to our pleasant surprise, Cal Rep's price also happened to be the lowest. So how often is it that the lowest price also provides the best product and customer service?? Cal Rep is one of those few companies - they really are THAT GOOD. The new windows and doors are AMAZING.... We knew they would make a difference, but you don't realize how big of a difference it makes until you install them. WOW WOW WOW. read more

Jeff and his crew just left after installing all new windows, including 4 huges sliding glass doors in our condo. The whole experience has been amazing! 1) The owner, Pat does the estimates personally, and he spends a great deal of time taking careful, precise measurments. He also explains the difference between the various windows they sell, and how the entire process will work. The price was the best of the 3 estimates we got. 2) I was told that the windows would be ready in 3 weeks, and they actually were! They scheduled the installation and actually showed up on time and with everything they needed. 3) The price quoted was exactly what we paid... no last minute up-charges. 4) I am very picky, and I have to say, the windows were installed PERFECTLY! No gaps, very neat caulking, no dents or scratches on any of the window frames, and the walls and surrounding areas were not damaged in any way. 5) Finally, I read here on Yelp that they do a very good job of cleaning up before they leave. Unbelievably, it's true. They cleaned practically my whole house... the windows are sparkling, and they dusted, vacuumed and wiped down the wood floors. They even swept the garage floor better than it's ever been swept. As a matter of fact, the whole house is cleaner than when they got here! Kudos to a company that takes pride in a thorough job, done correctly at a reasonable price. Everyone from Pat (the owner), Denise and Louis (in the office), to Jeff, Jose and Libo (the installers) are knowledgeable, professional and helpful.
