Lived at Wimbledon Glen for a year. The apartments are extremely old. The exterior seems to be falling apart everywhere. The balconies are completely rotting and breaking into pieces. The interior of the apartments are fine but all of the counter tops are gross and dingy. All cabinets closets and every other part of the interior has been painted over 9001 times its very disgusting. The carpet is replaced every 7 years... The freeway is up wind to the apartments so everything is always covered in brake dust and tire dust which is great for your lungs! The management is the worst they're switched out every 2 or 3 months. They also have some type of coupon system which is annoying. But it's very quite community as of 2010. I think this is mostly because this property is at less than 60% occupation. read more

I don't give 5 star reviews often but I gave a 1 star review to the complex I lived in before - the coronados in Newport (don't ever!!! Live there) so moving here to wimbledon glen has been a huge relief. First off - the staff is beyond polite, attentive and inviting. They know my name and greet me with it. The complex is very cute and quaint. It's quiet and inviting. I would sayy only issue is how they run parking. It doesn't make sense to not have a code on the gate. I live all the way at the back and I have ppl pick me up all the time. So I have to walk alllll the way out to the front - which is very in convienant. Also I have a garage and a pass - which is awesome so that my guest can have a spot. BUT the way they organize it doesn't work for me because I work in the nightlife industry and sometimes it's after 7pm when someone will come hang out or come over and they make you have the license plate registered in the office even tho the pass is also hanging in the car. I can't call on it later so it just doesn't help me at all. I can't take a star away for all of that for two reasons. 1: they told me when I moved in - actually when I moved In there was a key pad to punch in the code so I guess scratch that. 2: when I first moved In my car was towed and they called and paid for it to be released. For that I was VERY thankful. They didn't have to do that. My apartment - I LOVE IT. Washer, dryer, AC , garage --- can't beat it. I def pay a lot but it's very worth it to me. My family and I just renewed our lease here and the Leasing Office Staff couldn't have been more helpful with the process. Wimbledon Glen has been our home for the past 4 years and will continue to be until we're ready to make the move to Homeownership. We love the location, safety, and staff. The maintenance staff responds to calls right away and the leasing staff is always kind and available. They even ask about my little girls every time we go in to pay rent. Management is ineffective. I live next door to very bad neighbors. I was mocked for calling them heathens after their cats used my back patio mat for a litter box. Asst Mgr, John, is very aloof and you understand right away that he is annoyed having to speak with you. Top dollar for rent and the apartments say luxury but have a poor level of finish. We just arrived in Costa Mesa and stumbled upon this great complex. From the moment we walked into the leasing office we've had nothing but 5 star treatment from Darlene, Matt and the entire staff. Nothing is too much trouble and they always have time for whatever the concern may be, no matter how big or small. The complex itself is perfect for our needs, the units are spacious, clean and well appointed. The pools and common areas are great for swimming, tanning or just relaxing with friends. Very impressed with the onsite manager, Matt. Yesterday I called him regarding an issue I was having in my unit, and not only did he take the time to listen and ask the proper questions to better understand what was going on, he resolved the issue in literally less than 12 hours. I received 2 status phone calls letting me know the issue was being addressed by management, and then called again in the morning letting me know the issue was resolved and was glad to help me get positive results. I have been a resident of Wimbledon Glen for around 7 years. Having over 20 years in the hospitality industry, I think it is safe to say that I can recognize a true champion of hospitable service. Casey is, without a doubt, one of those champions. Not only does she take care of anything from maintenance issues to parking concerns, she is just a true pleasure to be around. She is personable, knowledgeable, and genuinely cares about people. With the frequent turnover at Arnel in general, it is tricky to develop relationships quickly, but Casey makes it very easy. ZERO STARS IF I COULD!!! This Property is a joke. You're gonna be paying over $2,500 just to live here in this under cover chaotic mess. The inside of my apartment is what's been honestly keeping me here but there's been so many incidents that have happened lately that can allow me to break my contract already. FIRST off BEWARE, let's starts with all the dang RATS!!!! This place is invested with Rats it's disgusting. I can't even walk from my car at night to my house with out seeing ONE RAT!! At first I thought they were in the trash can bins only but now they literally roam around EVERYWHERE. I keep finding RAT poop in my back patio as well! No body should be living with RATS!! I don't even let my daughter play with her toys out back anymore because of this reason!! Sad right? SECOND reason Parking is a shit show and if you don't park in the right spots YOU WILL BE TOWED!! Gotten my cars towed from this place about 4 times. For the price you pay you'd think you'd get more parking but it's only 2 spots.. a parking tag and a garage. And better be home early (by 6pm after work) to get free open parking out front otherwise you're parking down the dang street if there's even any parking there! I had to sleep in my car once because I didn't want my car to get towed!! Also the exit of these apartments will give you anxiety if you don't already have it! I've seen sooo many accidents out front already living here for 3 years it's ridiculous! Cars are coming up and down south coast drive so fast and with a blind sight on both sides it's better just to make a right and a u turn instead of making lefts to get on that street. It's a hassle but better safe than sorry. THIRD the so called "security system" SUCKS A** !!! They only care about getting the tow truck to tow all the cars in spots that they "aren't suppose to" park in probably because they get a cut out of it!! But where are they when there's people up to no good trying to enter the apartments gate!?? I've came home a little late quite a few times and there is always some characters trying to enter the property and roam around. I'm pretty sure someone sells drugs in this property too because there was just a raid not too long ago!! I've seen an incident of mail boxes getting broken into.. manager didn't do anything about it but say "The cameras don't work". I've seen people sleeping in the open laundromats!! Manager also didn't do anything about it!! I haven't even gotten to MY EXPERIENCE with my personal belongings! Just recently I've Had my car Stolen INSIDE the property!! Shows that the gates don't do anything! And then just last month my roommate got his car broken into. They broke the back side window and all!! It's just ridiculous all the events that have taken place that I'm deciding to move. Mind you when I first moved in it WAS NOT like this!! It has changed drastically ever since this one manager that was a male took over. I don't usually like to rate people and places but this one was necessary! It has to do with where you call Home and If I could save someone from signing a contract in this shit show and a whole head ache of having to get out of it now, I will! This Place I have lived at for nearly 9 years. They don't have adequate security and when confronted by the status of the security measures here they are defensive and demonstrate no concern for the tenant. However when the staff is offended and threatened Arnell jumps to respond for their safety as they should, but if you are tenant here don't expect immediacy over Federal Crimes like Stolen Mail or Post Office boxes broken into. They did not adequately notify their tenants who were the victim of the vandalism against our Mailboxes that contain our Mail and when you call the Corporate office and ask for Veronica she was less than professional or empathetic regarding our situation. When asked for a Police Report as damaging a US postal box is a federal offense, I was told they could not provide a report case number. Don't rent here it is not what it use to be. Contacting the Better Business Bureau regarding the treatment I got today after living here for 9 years and never missing rent or being late in rent. They have no regard any longer for their Tenants. So my crazy neighbors just so happened to move out as all of this was happening...Solved 1/2 of my issue. Management did finally get in touch with me to see what the problem was. I did show a video to the front office of the noise....but even with my new neighbors upstairs...still get a crazy tea kettle noise that goes off in the master bedroom as the neighbor upstairs uses the shower. They need to replace some piping valves up there but that probably requires too large of a fix for the complex to want to do it. read more

Run Run Run. They took my deposit via my credit card same day and after reading all the bad reviews, I wanted my "refundable" deposit back. They could keep it only 72 hours which was extortion as I did want to rent an apartment until I see it. But since it was refundable, I agreed. Well it is not refundable. They want to send it to their corporate office to process a check which is not immediately like charging my credit card. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS MANAGEMENT COMPANY. with all these issues just to get a look at an apartment, all those bad reviews are true. Rent at your own risk. I just wanted to come here to shout out the property manager, Matt Baptista. I came in looking for a new apartment and I'm glad he was the one doing the greeting and initial tour. His openess and transparency during a time of transition made the process a lot easier and more comfortable to assess if this property was the right move for me. From there he has been extraordinarily quick to respond by email or phone for any and all matters. I finally moved into my new spot and it was exactly what I had signed up for and my expectations were met. There was an issue with our dishwasher so I emailed Matt and within ten minutes he responded that a replacement unit had been ordered and will be replaced this week. So let me start off by saying that this has to be one of the quietest property I have ever lived at. Parking is awesome, I have a garage with my apartment and I love it. They even have guest parking as well! I used to live at another Arnel property in Westminster but had to move because of my job and I wanted washer and dryer hookups!! Before they take your deposit they should explain what your credit score should be, last month I gave a deposit it's been three weeks and still waiting for my refund, I've called several times and Nicole, and other staff have lied saying my refund was already mailed when I called the " corporate" office no one answers or return my call they are liars and dishonest so glad I didn't move in run ! read more

It seems like in the manager who responded to my review, totally don't understand what the problem is. They're more worried about if they're technically legal to allow a car to be towed versus trying to keep their residents happy . This only makes me more upset. They are telling me it's in the lease and if I want a new copy I can read it. But they don't seem to understand is I totally understood that I was subject to tow, that's why I called them to try to find out what I could do when I knew I didn't have a pass. I don't know what management will suggest I do at midnight when no one is available to help me to give me get a temporary pass, no one will talk to the dispatcher and no one will talk to the security people to explain what happened. They need understand that there is such a thing as grace and understanding. I am wondering what the motivation to towing cars in the middle the night is. If it's to try to alleviate parking problems it's not going to help. If it is to try to make some money for people including the tow company; that makes more sense. Believe me I definitely do not one to recommend anyone to reside at this place where they're anxious to penalize you at the drop of a hat. Still doesn't explain why in the lease the guest spot supposed to be reserved for guess what they don't seem to wanna force people cancel and park in them here for the residence. Terribly overpriced for the area, the units are old, the place is noisy, exiting the complex onto South Coast Dr. is a death trap. You can find nicer, less expensive places.This place and all Arnel properties will keep 90% of your security deposit no matter what. I would never recommend this or any Arnel property. Just moved back into Costa Mesa, super happy that we're back in my hometown!!!!! SoOOo beyond stoked that we were able to find little hidden gem called Wimbledon Glen this place is so quiet which is perfect because I work from home now. No late night parties or crowded pool, totally unlike the last place... Kitchen cabinets are a tad outdated, but still somehow look good. John and Ramon are the best!!! Our move in was last minute but they somehow made it ready for us!!!!! Last but not least my cat feels at home. You had me at we'll tow your car. There's no way I would subject my self or my guests to being towed. Especially after reading the other review how the guys wife lost her job because of this places tow happiness. That's ruff and policy's have still not changed. I just recently walked the property with their leasing agent. They told me right away that parking is an issue and if you have a guest park in your dedicated spot with your parking tag inside of it they will tow your friends car. What ever idiot thought of that was the reason why I'm writing this review and not moving in. They don't care because they like to say they are above 98% occupancy lol prove it, I doubt that. All the units come with an out door area to place a washer dryer but they do not provide them. They rent them to you... That's what I call customer appreciation. Throw me a fricken bone here other then the free chips and water on the walk through with the amount rent you're asking for and all the utilities. Yes, the whole place is sitting right next to the 405 and this freeway is rumbling 24/7. Wimbledon Glenn took our deposit AND continues to write us bad references that have caused us to miss out on apartments. We didn't vacuum or clean the place very well when we moved out, we are busy, working professionals, our bad I guess...you would think such an expensive place (1425$ for a studio) could afford a little clean up. We were never ONCE late on rent. We were respectful, quiet tenants who enjoyed our time living here but do not appreciate the reviews that continue to make moving very hard for us. Pros I was pleased that this complex offered short term (9 mo) leases, which was tough to find in the area. You do get a considerable amount of square footage for the price compared to the competition, and that was what was most appealing to me. Cons Don't expect much of your security deposit back (even when they say they don't penalize you for hanging pictures, etc. - they absolutely do). Carefully check charges. I was charged two extra days of rent beyond my lease agreement. It took two months to resolve this issue even with constant follow ups. Response time is very slow Lots of spiders and needed to call pest control often read more

My husband and I moved in June 2011. We are renting a 1bd- 1 ba. The size is pretty decent for the price. Refrigerator and washer/dryer are NOT included, but you can rent it on a month to month basis. If not, there is a laundry facility that everyone can use. I agree with the other reviewers that this place is old. The walls, sinks and counters have been painted over many times and you can see the rust and mildew in the bathroom. The kitchen is pretty small with no counter space. I agree that the carpet is really old. Our vacuum sucks up carpet pieces but no stains to complain about. We have never had any trouble with management or maintenance. If anything is needed, we usually have someone in the apartment that day. I personally think that the place is pretty quiet. Only on some occasions do the "Woo girls" and "super cool party people" yell at night or at all. Everyone pretty much keeps to themselves. Parking is never a problem. We've had plenty of people over and they never have trouble finding a spot. The living room and room have a lot of room. Not too much storage space in the apartment. I have a lot of stuff. But there is a pretty big "cubby" that you can put boxes in that hangs outside over the car. Our apartment stays on the cool side. The sun never really gets in. On that note, we always have to turn on the lights when there is still light outside. We would consider staying another year but the prices go up after a year. read more

Moved in October 2013. I had checked various apartments, searching for "the one" and I found it. Jon, the manager, was the first one I interfaced with, and I knew this was the place for me since I first spoke with him. He was kind, courteous and very professional - something I had not experienced when inquiring at other locations. He worked with me since the first day to accommodate my needs in terms of moving dates etc. I even thought there was a catch because it felt too good to be true. There was no catch; he delivered every promise he made and even more. My apartment is 1 bedroom 1 den, and it is airy and spacious. Everything felt new and clean when I moved in. My neighbors are friendly yet respectful of my privacy. I feel safe coming and going, even during evening hours. It is centrally located, close to freeways, dining, shopping and entertaining. I was concerned about the noise of the freeway but I came to realize that it sounds like waves in the ocean. The maintenance crew is friendly and responds quickly if the need should arise. I recommend Wimbledon Glen without reservation, rental feels are appropriate considering the quality of living this place has to offer.
